Some real India food. We ordered three dishes they are all Delicious! The lamb is the best

We had an excellent meal here yesterday evening. The food was delicious, the staff were friendly and we enjoyed the atmosphere.

Sadly a terrible evening. The food was tragic, service very average and little atmosphere

Never been here before wished i never waited so long food outstanding service from harvey who attended to my wife veggie was above and beyond and the restaurant was vibrant with a good family atmosphere

Dreadfull! Not sure if changed chef..but prawn dansak like few prawbmns floating in a bland soup..been bad last few times..but gave it a last try

Food very good expect my naan got taken away before I could ask for it to be bagged. Service had alot to be desired. Felt very rushed. Mains came when still eating poppadoms just very rushed in general like they wanted us out.

Very disappointed- we looked at the reviews most stating the food is lovely etc. we decided to order a takeaway and when I went to collect they had got the order wrong. This was soon sorted and they did apologise. My order arrived soon after, took it home to find the tubs were half full, rice cold and the naan bread was small and also cold. The dishes were bland and tasted like one you would buy from a supermarket, not enjoyable at all. It could have just been a ‘bad night’ but we will not be ordering from there again

Was over from Ireland and visited this place with my family. Meal was outstanding and the fish pakoras were the best I have ever had. Service and staff was very good too.

Food was lovely but a bit pricey. No complementary night caps or hand towels and no opening the door for you to leave and a thank you from the staff. Won't be in a hurry to go back

Hired room upstairs for birthday meal. Great service and lovely food

Staff and food was excellent. May not have a deal on mid week but worth every penny to eat in this restaurant. Same chef for 26 years says alot .........moving with the Times and keep loyal staff. Excellent

Had a delicious "railway lamb madras"

Polite & welcoming atmosphere. Was unsure of a dish I'd tasted before as i couldn't remember the name & the gentleman knew what I was describing & said its not in the menu but we can make it for you - I was so pleased that they would do that - it tasted amazing. My wife couldn't believe how tasty the food was & certainly enjoyed the experience. Starter/Main & Puddings are well priced & tasted great. Thank you for a rememberable night for our date night. Would highly recommend this establishment if you want great food & service 😋

I booked a table for 6 to take my elderly parents out and when we arrived we were taken upstairs to a room looking at the toilets and it was grim. We waited nearly 2 hours for our main and when we chased it up we were advised 1 of chefs had gone home poorly. It would have been nice to of been told this initially. All the rice dishes were freezing and I had to wait another 10 minutes for my main of monk fish. Yeh again the rice and veg were cold but the fish was hot. The waiter offered to change it but I’d had enough by then. We have been to Malabar many times over the years but feel as though there is no customer service anymore. The waiter really couldn’t be bothered. I wouldn’t waste my hard earned money again.

Cannot fault it, food & service always good

Had a lovely curry from here Sunday 18th Feb...been to restaurant with neighbours, ordered during lockdown .Sunday had family round and find the dishes at Malabar different from the standard Indian recipes . Family loved the food. Will definitely be ordering again.

Second visit in as many weeks , top notch as per usual.

I have been to the Malibar on a few occasions and always had a lovely meal. The service was also very good on previous visits. It seems to have changed in 2023. The food was not up to standard in the fact that: my Son had chicken korma, where was the chicken and why did it look as thin as soup ? . I had a chicken sagg balti. Once again, where was the chicken, think it was looking for the spinach as it was not in my dish. My other family members were also disappointed with their meals as certainly not up to a standard you pay good hard earned money for. To add to the food being poor,the service was awful. There was no professionalism in the restaurant., no-one asking if our meal was ok. I would have said "No, it is not". Any member of staff who walked by just leant over to our table to pick up an empty plate or bowl. It was quite shocking, to be honest! No sooner we had finished our meal, the bill arrived and we were rushed out. As much as I enjoy family time, this was a not a pleasurable experience but a memorable one for the wrong reasons. Not impressed at all! Feel like it's just about the money and not the quality of the food and service.!. Get your act together Malibar and treat your customers with some Respect!!!

Cracking little local restaurant. I stopped going years ago but have been again a few times over the last year. The food is beautiful, offering much more than the usual curry etc. Last visit was a Monday evening so was a little quiet but it was a birthday celebration. We took our balloons and wine etc early to place on the table and went to pick up the Birthday girl when we got back they had decorated the table lovely for us. The service was good and ascii said the food is lovely with such a lot of variety. Cant wait to visit again.

Ordered takeaway & wasn’t impressed, definitely wouldn’t go back. The Chicken korma wasn’t creamy , instead it was watery with no taste & the chicken in it looked old & the mint sauce tasted like natural yogurt. I don’t know how this place gets so busy, Don’t waste your money, honestly the food was awful

Ordered a take away on Saturday shish kebab starter was ok but the curry was just very watery sauce with 5 small pieces of chicken & should have contained potato but I couldn't find any in there very disappointed will not use these again

Good location for this restaurant. Table booked for a party of 10 celebrating a special birthday. Food excellent, from poppadoms to starters to main meals. Atmosphere is great, service is good, always checking everything is ok. Lovely and clean, with seating upstairs too. What's good about this restaurant? Food is delicious, great menu choice, you can dine in or order takeaway. You can either purchase drinks from the bar or bring your own drinks - can't beat that. 😁👍

Food was good, we ordered out 2 gravy but every gravy tasted the same.

Go here with our daughter, son in law and two grandsons and the service and food is always top marks.

First time there. Lovely clean place and nice food. All the staff was lovely especially one with a beard ,except the one I presume was the boss. Found him very abrupt. Made us feel uncomfortable. Very popular place. Would recommend to try it, not sure whether we will go again after our experience.

Ordered a takeaway from here for first time , got home with it poppadoms soft had to be binned, curry was only half up the container and a bit runny although wasn't to bad !!!

This is a lovely place to dine. The service is very good and the staff are really nice to deal with. There is a wide range of food and time to choose and eat. There is parking nearby with disabled spaces. There is also wheelchair access but as ever someone needs to open the door. They will also cater to dietary restrictions where possible if given some notice. They also advise on allergic reactions.

Second time here. Absolutely fantastic food, great service. These guys are funny too. Lovely time spent here.

A great restaurant! 🤩 We visited from Cardiff expecting a great Brummie curry and weren’t disappointed. Fabulous service and vibe. The naan was so good. I wish it wasn’t so far away!!

Very nice service and excellent food

My husband and I visited Monday evening. Our food was excellent. My husband had Vegetable Samosas and I had the Nepalese Style Fish Pakora for starters. The cod in the fish pakora was really delicious. My husband had the Freshwater King Prawn pathia for his main course and he said it was really good. All the staff are very pleasant. A very enjoyable evening.

1st visit here and on arrival the restaurant was busy, 7pm on a Saturday and it's definitely a popular place, we'd booked so was seated straight away, excellent friendly service, great atmosphere and the food was very tasty, fresh and full of fantastic flavours, large menu so should be something for everyone, highly recommended, noticed they were also busy on the takeaway menu, which had a collection discount, must be popular too

My husband and I visited this restaurant last week. This is the first time we have been for a long time due to circumstances. The food was really good and the staff are very helpful and friendly. We will be returning soon.

We visited the Malabar again on our usual Sunday slot. As always a very warm welcome from Sarge and his team. Service is superb, al the team there are so very friendly and amazingly enough always remember our names. It was my wife’s birthday so, after our usual superb kebabs and curries they surprised her with a lovely dessert from the team there. It’s great value for money and after over 20 years still serve superb Indian food.of the highest order.

Had a great meal here last night. Haven’t eaten here for a while but staff remembered us and were as friendly as always! Loved the new menu choices. I had Railway Lamb Madras - it was gorgeous! The lamb was so tender, it wasn’t too spicy just very tasty. My partner had Lasan Mirchee Baghar - again it was very good. Very good food reasonably priced, licensed and great staff - what more do you need on a Wednesday evening?

Top notch Indian quisine, and the staff are fantastic. Will definitely be visiting again!

Once again a very enjoyable meal at Malabar. Service was quick, meals were tasty and my son was treated well too. Can't ask for more than that!

Food good, menu guite extensive, staff friendly and efficient very quiet as qe went early, started to get busier as we left for those that drink you can take your own alcohol

Super fast takeaway service. From ordering our food to doorstep service just 30mins. Food piping hot and oozing with flavour. Thanks to the team for looking after us during lockdown.

This is a favourite of ours to eat in so we thought we try them for a take away since we can’t eat in. The food tonight was amazing and full of flavour. The staff were friendly and ran a good social distanced collection service. 10/10 for the food!

Just ordered a takeaway from here on recommendation. This will be our new takeaway going forward and can't wait till after lock down to go there for a meal. All the food was quality and everything had a different flavour. Amazing curry!

As , along with the rest of the Country we are in lockdown we decided to have a takeaway from our favourite Indian restaurant in the area. Great starters and a lovely chicken and small prawn curry and a Manchurian curry main course. The place was very busy with a lot of people awaiting their food. Great service and very reasonable priced.

Food was piping hot chicken was melting in mouth and very tenter, taste of curry and rice was amazing.

We moved to the area around a year ago, and this place has cooked the best curry I've ever had. The service has always been outstanding and the food has been of the best quality. Would highly recommend.

Don’t usually review , but feel I need to tell everyone. Food was outstanding,Red hot food , had the king prawn , biggest king prawn i have ever Since , Restaurant was full but service was absolutely amazing , waiters were very attentive , I’d definitely be going back 😀😋👍

This a lovely restaurant, good food, great service, nice surroundings, but, in current covid 19 times, we were uncomfortable, too many people, no safety measures at all. Highly recommended in safer times and we won't visit again until then.

Thank you malabar for working during the lockdown with delivery service only. I don’t think we could’ve gone without a malabar for 4 months. These guys are the best, their food is the best,their service is the best.

Ordered King Prawn Madras and two naan breads £18 something wouldn't have minded but the Madras came with three Prawns, complete joke, never entertain the place again.

2 curries delivered 1 had to be redone as full of ghee replacement come ,was as bad, but apparently not cooked in ghee ,but swimming in it too ,, called back they wasn't bothered and said cant do nothing about it now , wont recommend malabar now to anyone

There were ten of us in the party. We are in an upstairs room on our own. Super service & super food. Will definitely do this again .

Food was ok , but service was poor (friendly ish) we seemed to be overlooked as waiters scurried around, had to ask to get attention for ordering, drinks,sweets and the bill , used to be my go to place for a good curry, probably not anymore

Unfortunately we visited on a very busy evening and were told we would be seated in an upstairs room which was very grim. Also we visited with my disabled mother who struggled to make it up the very steep stairs only to be confronted with a freezing cold and very dimly lit room! I complained and were then told after struggling to get mum up the stairs that we could sit downstairs after all! A very mediocre meal followed. Don't think that we will be visiting again in the near future.

I travel...ALOT because of my job and thought this was going to be just another Indian restaurant but being on a keto diet I didn't have much of a choice in the area. Some people don't like sitting in restaurants on their own and I don't if the food is rubbish... but what a shock. Firstly, as I booked and gave my name when I arrived they all knew my name and treated me so well. The place was almost empty when I arrived but within an hour the place was rammed and the staff were hugging and talking to the customers about this week's t.v episodes. It was so nice. All I kept thinking was that I can't remember tasting these tastes and how much I hated actually living so far away from this restaurant. People were so happy and at ease, it was like I was in their own homes. I don't like shrimp but I tried it and loved it. I got given complimentary brandy, again I don't like it but really enjoyed the glass. It has rekindled my faith in small restaurants after going to so many averages ones in places like London, Glasgow, and Belfast. Well done team. Keep it up and I will be back.

Great tasty food lovely atmosphere

Tried to seat us upstairs in a very bland, cold, unfriendly room after making my disabled mother struggle up stairs! After complaining they managed to sort a table downstairs. They should have done this before the struggle with the stairs.! Unfortunately the new table was right in front of the front door. Five of our table of ten had to keep their coats on! Food was mediocre at best. Not sure we will be returning.

Good food friendly staff we normally go to shabab because wife can't eat curry and they do steak but the staff said if when you book ask for steak and we will oblige can't fallt them.

Just moved to the area and this was the first restaurant we tried, personally we couldn’t fault the meal or the place, friendly staff, beautiful meal, alcoholic drinks can be bought in or purchased there, a really enjoyable evening and we will definitely be back soon.

Good night out with friends and food

This is a decent restaurant that serves good food. Service is great & the staff you cannot fault. However, if you are unfortunate enough to get a table close to the door you need to have a coat, a blanket or be an eskimo to fully enjoy the experience!I felt like I was eating in the car park on a cold, wet windy night in early November & it spoilt my night.Also a well done Naan bread needs to be well done, not limp & uncooked at the ends!Disappointed I'm afraid & the owners need to sort the entrance out.

Went for the first time on Fri 30th August. Lovely interior, very welcoming. There were 4 of us in our party, none of us having previously visited. Don’t think we will be back either. Not exactly massive portions and we all agreed that the menu was vastly overpriced. Chicken Balti £9.95…. And other dishes were a lot more expensive than other balti houses/restaurants we have visited in the area. Wherever we go we usually pay £6.50 - £7.00 per balti dish. And the quality/portion size DID not warrant a huge price increase. These high prices were also on other items, such as breads and rice dishes. In my opinion there are far better, more reasonable places to enjoy Indian food. Just my opinion….

Needs a bit of attention to service tbh. Only received our starters an hour and ten minutes after arriving. Food ok tbh so far. Just wondering how long before the main courses arrive!

They opened on Eid. How many restaurants are open Christmas Day? Best food and best service. Succulent lamb, never any fatty bits in the meat unlike others. Well done again lads. 👍

A group of 13 of us went to celebrate our friends 60th. The table was ready and waiting. They allowed us to take out own alcohol in there earlier and kept it chilled for us. The food was delicious and full of flavour. The potions were of a good size and our meals arrived promptly. The waiters are lovely and had everyone singing happy birthday to our friend. Good prices. Great food. If you haven't tried this place you definitely should whether it's for two people or 20.

Malabar has a long history in Aldridge, and it's easy to see why with the amazing authentic Indian cuisine that is served here. The staff are friendly, the food is delicious and the prices are fair. My only negative of this restaurant is the seating plan, the tables are very close so if you are somebody who enjoys private conversations it would be best to visit not during peak hours. Everything else is amazing.
