Nice atmosphere I must say . I ordered many times from them was everything ups to the mark .specially chicken tikka sagwala, Moharani special biryani was best of them.

I've previously given this place 5 star reviews. Sadly no more. Food is good. 10% discount on online collection orders is a sham: every dish is priced 50p higher. They always say 20 minutes collection, it's always 45 (if you're not sitting there waiting I suspect it might be longer). Last straw is that when I unpacked the onion bhaji were missing. Called and they just said to mention it on the next order. That's no use to me, there won't be a next order. I Don't think they believed me, "we do not make mistakes". Very disappointed. Time to find a new place.

Not at all good in taste. Ordered paneer matar but only 2pieces of paneer with full matar with no salt nd mix vegetable as well the same no salt no taste...very disappointed

Haven't had a curry for awhile, and needed to find a new place to order a takeaway from. As my previous go to, is now a cafe instead. I decided to try Maharani after hearing good things. I ordered through their own website as it was a couple of £ cheaper than just eat/deliveroo. Delivery was approx an hour, came about 70mins after placing my order. Food was piping hot, which made up for the slight lateness. I ordered a chicken masala. I found the chicken slightly too dry, and there was approx about 5 pieces. To accompany the chicken, I had a mushroom rice. I was given a large portion. The plain naans were large thick and fluffy. Probably the best naan I've had in a long time. The mango chutney was quite nice too. Other than the dryness of the chicken, the price was good for the amount of food given. I would order again but I'd probably order slightly earlier because after reading alot of reviews it seems lateness is a recurring theme. I was lucky mine was just 10mins late and the food was still really hot.

A very disappointed loyal customer. Order said 7 -8 but arrived 8.20 and then the driver handed us one bag and questioned him that he had missed a bag - which he had. And, the Samosos were half the size from previous order!

Ordered online and it came a little late which wasn’t a problem it’s one of the weaker curries I’ve had and I’ve been eating curries in Cambridge for my whole life… My one massive complaint before the food was being told he couldn’t give me all my change because “he didn’t have it” it made me laugh and I wasn’t bothered but principle says this is a terrible business practice and it put me off before I’d even looked at my food. Shashlick was very greasy and bland compared to others I’ve had… The Maharani Special tasted very same old, different meats which were okay could have been cooked a little better and the base sauce was generic, it’s always the mark of a mediocre curry when the base sauce is very Same-y Prawn Purée was the highlight of the meal, was very decent and flavourful prawns were a little chewy but I don’t mind tbf The Naans were a dark point, by far the worst Naans I’ve ever had and they delivered them in brown paper bags not foil bags so grease all over the bag and just a mess and they were cold because of it, never had Naans delivered like that and they were tasteless, The Garlic naan didn’t smell or taste of Garlic and the Keema Naan was just bland and thick bread with little Keema meat… And finally the poppadoms were like many restaurants now little crunch almost soft seems since the pandemic many restaurants are doing this it’s a shame but somewhat understandable all tho I think considering we all pay a lot they shouldn’t be sending anything that isn’t fresh. Overall I wouldn’t order again and wouldn’t encourage anyone too, but please make up your own mind.

Ordered on Just Eat. It was late and probably the worst meal I’ve ever had. The prawn biryani had no prawns in at all and it was definitely reheated! I called to complain and the guy was just rude. Awful! We threw it away!

Cold food and a very hostile reception. Told to reheat my food, seriously after paying £32 including a service charge on a takeaway. I have never had a problem before but after being told to reheat my food and told ‘I’ll look after you next time’ I can say there will never be a next time. Avoid at all costs. I’ll expect a ranty response as it seems that’s all Maharani do.

Maybe i ordered during the peak time so my food was delivered later. But we enjoyed the food. It taste good

Really tasty meal- Chicken Vindaloo was flavourful and the chicken was absolutely beautifully cooked. Generous portions too. Garlic naan was fresh and fluffy. Delivery man was really helpful and communicative especially as I live at a tricky address. Could not fault them. Bangin’ takeaway, will defo be back. 👏👏👏

Consistently amazing food and great service! Vindaloo just as I like it; spicy, but also extremely tasty with lot's of other flavors - not like other places that just crank the spice up with no additional seasoning, or just cut fresh chili's through a Madras! May try one of their House Specials soon, if the staff can recommend something else delicious and hot to a Vindaloo lover!

Really nice! Delivery was almost 5 miles but the food was still hot, and tasted great. Chicken Tikka Biriyani and Onion Bahjis were particularly nice. The Tikka Masala was good but honestly could have a little more flavour. Hope to try again soon. Thank you :)

This was by far the best curry I have had in years. The flavours were bursting and it was not just about the ‘heat’ like so many ‘specials’ in other restaurants. The delivery person was incredibly friendly and upbeat and made the whole experience exponentially better. Thank you all.

Sorry but this place many years ago was my favourite. I decided after years of not having returned to treat myself and daughter to our favourites. Boy I was disappointed terribly. The onion bargee was hard and tasteless. The yogurt sauce is water consistency having been watered down with vinegar which made it un edible. ( my favourite sauce) the lamb biryani was the biggest problem. The meat tasted rotten the rice tasted of burnt garlic and burnt meat and rice and had burnt bits everywhere. Was dry and tasteless. The veg curry was the worst I’ve ever had. Rates less and tasted of decomposing veg, ( like vinegar also) the pappodom and naan were spot on but we have thrown most in the bin. 50 pound wasted and won’t ever be returning. Shame this place used to be the best around. 8 years ago I ordered 2 a month for years from here.

Usually we really enjoy our meals from Maharani, but this time it was greasy and tasteless, spending over £100 on a meal we expected better quality that it was this time. The delivery time shown changed by 45 minutes as soon as the order was placed, which meant a very long wait for our food.

Never nocked on the door I phoned up but the guy on the phone was very argumentative sadly but apparently the guy said he nocked never did because I sat right next to the door poor every other time has been perfectly fine but today it was poor sad to say but never got my food

Stay away..the samosas are frozen ones which you can buy from any indian grocery store, they charing more than 4 pounds for 2 tiny samosas. The nans are frozen thick bread, nothing is freshly made. Curry is tasteless too. I came to know Indians avoid it, only first time customers make the mistake of buying from here.

Best Indian food in Cambridge, I've been going to this restaurant for years and it always been consistently been excellent. I would highly recommend.

In my experienced opinion this is easily the BEST Indian takeaway in Cambridge. I’ve been using the Maharani for over five years now (both collect and takeaway) and they offer the most consistently top quality spicy flavoursome Indian food. I would also assert that the food is better than in almost all the sit-down Indian restaurants in Cambridge.

The food is very bad, yellow water instead or=tadka dal and stale bread DO NOT GO HERE OR ORDER FROM HERE, THE FOOD THAT THESE GUYS ARE SELLING IS NOT INDIAN ITS SOMETHING ELSE, because Indian food is delicious unlike this and the person who was on the line referring himself as the owner at the moment was very rude and wasn't admitting his fault, please do not order food from here until and unless you are in a mood to throw the money! They think yellow water is tadka dal and stale bread is tandoori roti because this is what these guys serve, I request please do not order any takeaway from here because it is literally very bad Please do not order food from here If you have money to waste or throw then please donate it to some charity or give it to some poor because this restaurant does not deserve your love, The owner is very impolite and is not ready to admit his fault.
