Called in for a pub meal...excellent pie and beer

Cheap and cheerful and good dinner time menu and the beer is brilliant

Went to The Wisewood on a Sheffield-based friend's recommendation. Decent choice of ales and food was good; both in quality and value. Could have stayed there all night after a mammoth hike in the Peaks just down the way. Recommended.

I had a pint of Loxley brewery beer (Halliday bitter I think) at The Plough in Low Bradfield yesterday (15/10/21). It said "Brewed using our own fresh spring water". I'm sorry to report that after a long history as a beer drinker (back to the age of the likes of notoriously awful Watney's keg red-barrel) it was the worst pint I can recall. I'm always ready to try anything new and keen to support smaller brewers so I'm very tolerant of beer that's less than perfect. Unfortunately the only ingredients I could detect were water and a surprisingly dark, brown colour. I was hoping for a little evidence of hops and malt. Two stars may sound generous but I have to allow for the possibility that the fault lies with poor cellar practises at the Plough. Or maybe I've got Covid and lost my sense of taste but everything else tastes fine...

I love their Beers..really tasty and distinctive . Great venue too with beautiful view and the pub does really good value food to soak up all the beer you just have to drink! Love it. Staff are really friendly too! A must visit..Great me Brewery for us in Sheffield!
