We first bought bread from Lovingly Artisan at the market in Kendal, then later from their bakery at Plumgarth's Farm Shop. Everything we tried was delicious and if we lived in this area, this would be our go to for great quality bread. If you’re lucky you may score a free tasting on their countertop from samples put out and once you’ve had a taste you’ll be coming back for more. Highly recommended.

This is a small artisan bakery near Kendal in Cumbria which we discovered in a documentary about the Lake District last year. We have been there several times – essentially every time we are one our way to Windermere. In fact, it is now a compulsory stop for us every time we are in the area, which is several times a year. Their items are divine and unique; there several breads, loaves and buns, all sourdough, and other goodies (including pastries) amply listed on their website. Service is very friendly and obliging, and no request is too much for them. Items tend to run out at around lunch time after which it becomes pot luck. We particularly adore their Five Grain bread, Spiced apple and sultana bread, almond croissants, and bear claws (almond and coffee pastry), but the list will grow as we are steadily working our way through their entire repertoire. Nearby is Rinaldo’s Coffee, possibly the best you can find in the UK, which seems an ideal partner with the bakery’s products. The small bakery is situated in an enclave of a few other shops, Plumgarths Farm Shop & their “2 sisters” Café, Ginger Bakery, etc. Somewhat pricey but the superb quality overrides that. Highly recommended indeed

Can’t say enough good things about this bakery. The staff are wonderful helpful friendly and extremely knowledgeable about their produce. The bread and pastries are just divine Highly recommend everything but especially the bear claws and ancient grain breads. High quality food using real ingredients and it’s very reasonably priced unlike other artisan sourdough bakeries. Well done 👏

As a local I’ve been here a few times and the bread is great but I’m not overly sure it’s worth the premium particularly with the pastries where the quantity of fillings didn’t really demand the price tag. I’ll stick to the bread for special occasions.

While exploring the Lake District, we stumbled upon this delightful bakery, which we had previously seen featured on a TV travel show. From the moment we stepped inside, we were greeted with an impressive selection of baked goods, each more tempting than the last. The variety was astounding, making it a challenge to choose just a few treats to try. Located within a charming shopping area that also boasts other culinary attractions, including a lovely farm shop, this bakery is a must-visit for anyone in the region. The quality and freshness of their products truly stand out. If you find yourself in the Lake District, don't miss the chance to indulge here!

It has an amazing and tasty selection of award winning sourdough breads. It’s not cheap and you pay for the quality but the bread is well worth it.

This mini business park between Kendal and Windermere is well worth visiting to stock up on goodies and grab lunch or coffee from the several foods outlets. Lovingly makes outstanding (award winning) sourdough breads and the range (rye, focaccia, cinnamon buns) covers most eventualities. Organic and locally sourced. Everyone is super friendly and the hands-on owners are passionate about provenance, product, and community. Can also be found at Kendal farmers' market.

We enjoyed our visit to the Lovingly Artisan Bakery. The whole ambience of the place was great - passionate about good bread. We bought about 3 loaves - all different flavours - which were sliced for us. We also bought a new bread knife which will be useful in our enjoyment of good bread. Wonderful!

This place makes an excellent range of fresh sourdough bread, french baguettes, croissants etc. not cheap, but really special and all delicious. They do tend to sell out of some things quite early, so if you want something particular, call ahead and check, or reserve it. They are very friendly and helpful.

Tucked away from the main drag in Bowness it’s a little delight. Hand made sandwiches to order and delicious looking cakes. Amazing value as well. Definitely worth making the effort to find it.

My friend and I came across this lovely little cafe in a quiet passageway just off the main shopping street in Kendal. We were just looking for a brunch meal before heading to the shops and this fitted the bill perfectly. Although the menu wasn’t extensive, there was just enough on there for us to choose from and we weren’t disappointed with our choices. We both chose a bacon and egg in a barm cake and our hot drinks. All were served perfectly and filled the spot. We managed to resist the delicious looking cakes and pastries that were on offer but it’ll be somewhere I’d definitely go back to in the future to sample them. Both of us were most impressed with the menu prices and felt they were very reasonable compared to prices of other cafes not too far from Tilly’s. It was a great find and we’ll be back!
