Lovelocks Coffee Shop in Liverpool

Popped in for a quick bite to eat before a tour I had booked, and got myself an apple juice and a porridge (not the most exciting but it's what I needed for the day ahead!) The porridge came with maple syrup and I got a fair amount to go with it, so it was pretty good! Seems like a good chilled out breakfast spot to hang out with friends or family!

Popped in on the way back from a parkrun, really friendly staff and food and coffee spot on.

Incredibly rude stuff that will make you feel like any request is simply too much.

We loved this place so much we had breakfast two mornings in a row as we stayed in the hotel above. Great food and service, comfortable atmosphere. We'll be back next time we're in Liverpool.

I can not recommend this place enough. The food is amazing, the service is fantastic and the atmosphere is lovely. Every trip to the city will now coincide with a visit to Lovelocks coffee shop.

Was really looking forward to trying this cafe, I’d heard great things about the food and general vibe. Granted, it’s a great hang out spot, with a relaxed vibe, however the experience was let down by the staff. On two occasions the staff were rude and abrupt to my partner, when she asked if our drinks were ready, and then for some tap water. Made us feel like it was an inconvenience for them that we were here. Very disappointing and completely put me off visiting again.

Lovely place for coffee and meeting friends

Fantastic food and coffee, the cakes are a must try! Hive Latte is my absolute favourite hot drink. The staff are outstanding, always willing to help and very friendly. The atmosphere is a mix of chilled and vibrant....visit the loo for a disco!

Got a Luke warm half cup of tea to go. Can't even get full cup. Staff are not very pleasant and food was just ok. To expensive for what you get.

A really lovely place to visit. Cozy vibe inside, green lively decoration, plenty of seats and friendly staffs. At the moment I came, they run out of staff so I couldn't get what I intended to try there. Instead I tried the chicken mozarella pesto sandwich, which was fab! The matcha latte was mild, but I loved the presentation! Also for the rose hot chocolate, loved it!

Very nice place with laid back vibe. I ordered “meat” breakfast- was very generous portion and tasted great. Latte and Chai Latte were also really good.

Food is devine all freshly made while you wait so be patient it's worth the wait. Cakes are fantastic and they can make special cakes to order

Well-equipped café with a delicious breakfast. Homemade bread and cakes. Friendly, tolerant and cosmopolitan team. The lovingly designed ambience invites you to linger. The toilets are gender neutral and very clean.

Me and a couple friends came here for lunch and we thoroughly enjoyed it! The food was so amazing, and the decorations and atmosphere, in general, were so inclusive and cool! I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a nice lunch out!

Beautiful place run beautiful people. The interior was beautiful and filled with plants and cute decorations. The interior was so beautiful I didn’t even mind the longer wait for the food. There were so many beautiful things to look at. The staff was also super kind and nice. There was no problem with making changes about my order. And the toilets? Brilliant! Haha. I would definitely love to coma back.

Lovely mochas and a wide variety of drinks

I enjoyed the chocolatey flat white. No harshness or burnt taste, was a really nice cup of coffee.

I’ve never been much of a pub-goer but this place feels like what it be must like to have a local. Always feel safe here. Also the chocolate brownies are perfection and the vegan brekkie the best thing to smash after a workout.

Looking for a coffee and it’s just underneath my hotel. Even they didn’t open properly when pop in and request for a coffee and they happily served me. What a brilliant service and strong coffee exactly what i was looking for. Lovely staff. Thanks for everything.

An absolute delight of a café. Little Bella and I, loved it. All the staff were really accommodating, attentive and polite. The food was excellently cooked, fresh and tasty. Very dog friendly and the wifi nice and quick. Thank you!

They told me 20-25 min delay for food. That was ok. YET, it was 40 min and food has not come. When I asked if it was taking long (as I needed to live in 5) one woman rudely told me “we told you we had a delay”. Coffee was far from great too.

Had breakfast here, and I decided to treat myself. Pancakes with bacon. Ordered black coffee & my b'fast. Pancakes cooked to order & very fluffy... On paying, I asked if the pancakes were made to order, which the response was yes. Was told they were vegan, which blew my mind as I suffer from IBS & egg whites are a trigger for me. (You are probably wondering why you would have pancakes if egg whites are a trigger. Sometimes, you just want a little guilty pleasure) On hearing they were vegan made made my morning, so no IBS for me... Coffee & breakfast £13.50, definitely will be back. Fantastic value for money. got an earlier train into work so i had time to grab a rose hot chocolate that i’ve been wanting to try for awhile, they didn’t have the stuff for it after I was charged but the barista was very friendly and recommended me a syrup flavour. I was kinda disappointed but just took a normal hot chocolate instead, my disappointment went away as soon as i drank it because it was the best hot chocolate ever !!! thanks :D

Croissant was very greasy and didn’t taste nice. Staff aren’t that friendly.

Vegan food, salads, toasts and cakes. Funny atmosphere. It takes a while for the order to arrive.

Met by polite staff and instructed me to sit down as it was table service. Quirky place with a nice aesthetic. The enjoyment ended there. Although time and care had been taken to make a nice looking flat white the coffee was weak and the pain au chocolate was soggy and greasy. Might come back to people watch out the window with a tea or black coffee but not much more.

Best sandwich I have ever had with a super fresh salad on the side. Plus the place is so cute inside! My first time in Liverpool and this coffee shop alone could be a valid reason to come back.

Whenever I visit or travel to lpool Lovelocks is my 1st point of call. The food is fresh&locally grown an at a fantastic price,the coffee well that's a mouth watering refreshment to the bean taste buds. The staff are so polite,friendly helpful,an efficient with all knowledge on "what's on the Menu" Atmosphere is relaxed,cool,calm,pleasant&enjoyable to be in. Would I recommend? I stopped by for a quick coffee to go, the atmosphere of the cafe is top tier (the bathroom is awesome too). The staff were super lovely and the food looked divine- I'll definitely be back to try it all 😋

A seriously incredible place. The coffee is brilliant, the service and vibe is excellent and the food is great. I play DnD here every Tuesday evening and the welcoming environment is the epitome of scouse hospitality.

Here’s a shoutout to Ruth, one of the team members at this cafe! I had visited the cafe for some other purpose but I didn’t have cash and needed some change by doing card payments which I knew is not possible in cafes as I work as a barista myself. But Ruth was so sweet and made it possible for me. Her customer service goes beyond expectations and honestly she just made my day! I did buy a pecan chocolate brownie from lovelocks and it was absolutely delicious! One of the best brownies I’ve had in Liverpool. Definitely cannot wait to visit again for brunch or somethin!

Cozy atmosphere, well decorated and always themed i.e. seasons or holidays. Selection of board games as well to pass the time. We got a hot chocolate and a chicken sandwich with rocket lettuce and a balsamic dressing which was very good. Food: 7.4/10 Service: 7.8/10 Price: 8.2/10

Some food was quite tasty (avo on toast) , other options really ordinary (pancakes with bacon), but really overpriced for what it was - was shocked when I got the bill. Went in for breakfast but really wished I had not had so much politic lobbed at me when simply trying to eat and work.

Lovely place to meet but also to do a bit of work. Busy but not too busy. Best chai latte I have ever had and the staff were lovely.

The food is nice (I had a snack a couple of weeks ago) but it’s let down by how dirty it is outside. I took a coffee outside today and it was extremely dirty. Some of the rubbish (and there was a lot) had been there quite some time. Really needs a good clean up.

Visited Lovelocks multiple times on a recent trip to Liverpool. Great choice of meals including veggie and vegan meals. Loved the dishes including the pancakes and veggie breakfast options. Great atmosphere. Very inclusive. Friendly staff. Ideally located for my trip - next to Travelodge, near to Lime Street station, close to Library and Museums and only 10 minuet walk into dock area or main shopping area.

Best coffee shop in Liverpool. A queer safe space in the city, with amazing staff, food and atmosphere. I recommend all my friends and family to go and they equally love it. The owner, Sarah, is an amazing and caring person, which is mirrored with all her staff. If you’re in Liverpool, go. All her food is homemade and you’ll get such a warm welcome.

To those considering visiting Lovelocks, keep an eye on your watch because if you don't order something frequently, some of the rude staff will spoil your day with their unsatisfied faces and constant reminders that "business is business" without any prior warning about the café's policies, eventually asking you to leave. I used to like Lovelocks Coffee Shop, but my recent experience was quite disappointing due to the rude and unsympathetic staff. I ordered a coffee and stayed for about two hours. There was no information or policy indicating that you have to order every hour or two to remain inside. A waiter with a face tattoo approached me and asked if I wanted to order anything. I mentioned I had already ordered, and she curtly replied that it was two hours ago and they needed the table back. There was no explanation or politeness in her tone. When I spoke with the manager, she bluntly said, "Business is business; everything costs money." I support the idea of ordering something regularly, but it shouldn't be handled this way. You should clearly state your policies and treat customers with politeness and empathy. For example, the staff could politely say, "Due to our policy, we unfortunately need you to order at least a drink or some food to continue staying here. Here are some options for you," instead of, "You ordered a coffee a few hours ago, we need the table back." (So nice hospitality.) If someone orders a coffee and is seen with a laptop, inform them about the policy from the beginning. We are not investors in your coffee shop; we are people who want to enjoy our time at your establishment without a rude approach.

Best hot chocolate I have ever had, plus a delicious bacon and brie sandwich enriched with Mama's home made chutney.

Great breakfast food with a really pleasant vibe with sort of simple but arty come radical fitout. Would definitely return for a breakfast if back in Liverpool. Staff were all lovely. I have to be honest we only entered because the queue for breakfast around the corner was long! We should have come straight here.

Tasty breakfast for vegetarian.

*They deleted my girlfriends review on Google which is very telling* My disabled and ill girlfriend met up with some friends here and the staff demanded she buy something or leave. They were preparing for an important presentation they had an hour later. She has horrible medical issues dictating what and when she can eat or drink. She also was very anxious for this presentation and just wanted to feel as calm as she could before presenting. Everyone else had bought something so it wasn’t like they were all hanging out without buying anything at all. The incredibly rude waitress (face tattoos, piercings and black hair for a description) looked my girlfriend up and down with disgust and bullied her into making a purchase shouting that “this is a business not a library”. Everyone else had bought something… To humiliate my girlfriend by shouting so loud at her and making her feel so bad in front of so many other customers is shocking behaviour. Your customer service is clearly lacking and if that’s how you expect to develop a strong customer base, you need to go back to school and learn some basic customer service tips. This was her first and last time there. I’d avoid this place as I’ve read that it’s commonplace for the staff to treat customers like dirt. This is a No go zone for normal people.

I’ve been coming here frequently since like before Lovelocks moved into its current building. Coffee is great, food is good, atmosphere is chill and the staff are absolute champions. Great place to stop by before uni or if you need a change of scenery when doing your dissertation. THERE ARE ALSO FREE PLUGS TO USE FOR YOUR LAPTOP/PHONE. Tenouttaten.

Great, friendly staff and amazing coffee.

We by chance passed this nice coffee shop during our 3 day stay in Liverpool during an interrail trip. Best discovery! We had to go there every day and had fantastic breakfasts, coffee and team. The crew and ambiente is so nice. Also the Pancakes are just excellent! Thank you very much, all the best and we hope to visit again soon. 😊 Best regards from Switzerland

My first time here. Lovely staff & an enjoyable soup of the day (tomato & basil, served with fresh sourdough bread) accompanied by a delicious mocha! Reasonably priced & I'll definitely visit again!

Such a lovely lunch spot. Great vegan and veggie food and nice vibe with good music. Quite a lot of seating but they do takeaway as well.

I spent £3.50 on possibly the worst “coffee” I have ever “tasted” . I say tased lightly as there was absolutely no taste of coffee and instead I he entire cup was just cold milk. It took 5 mins to make and still couldn’t do it right: avoid avoid avoid. I had high hopes but man it was terrible.

What a lovely find walking into the city from the train station. 😊 A quirky, rustic atmosphere with very friendly and happy people to serve you. The flat white coffee was superb….. I gave it a ‘wow’ on my first sip! A delicious slice of freshly homemade carrot cake to go with it and a nicely chilled bottle of tap water. A much better choice than Costa or Nero in my opinion.

Absolutely loved this place! Delicious food and coffee and staff were incredibly friendly, helpful and accommodating to allergies and intolerances. Child is intolerant to both lactose and soya so even vegan places can have limited options in avoiding soya, but here we could order pancakes made with oat milk, and the staff really went the extra mile. The pancakes with maple, blueberries, spiced apple and candied pecans went down an absolute treat. Also had the Christmas turkey sandwich which was enormous and genuinely the nicest Christmas dinner I've ever had out, sandwiched in tasty sourdough. Highly recommended!
