Excellent!! Great food and fantastic serving staff. Enjoyable experience!

Long queues but expected on a Saturday lunch time got served fast enough.

Without question the freshest and best cooked haddock I’ve ever had. Chips & mushy peas also excellent. Very friendly and attentive service and they do excellent gluten free (for my wife) as well.

It’s so sad i’m writing this review because this place has been perfect every time we have visited but this seems to be the new normal. We booked a table at 2pm and arrived 5 mins before, we were told it was a 5 min wait for our table so we weren’t sat down until just before 2:10pm. The food was phenomenal, there is no question about it and the girls working there seemed lovely too. However when they cleared our plates, a bill was placed down immediately at 2:45pm, my boyfriend apologised and asked if we could order dessert in which they replied no because the table is booked at three so we could take the desserts to go. We were then stared at all the way up until 3 and it felt VERY rushed. I don’t understand how they think it’s acceptable to rush people in and out in 45 mins when a booking was made and it’s not the cheapest. Such a shame as it was for a special occasion and we couldn’t even enjoy the dessert.

Amazing food but also really good service and riley is so genuinly friendly and very attentive, and came back to our table a few times as he heard we would like another drink so we really enjoyed all of our food and also when we mentioned needing another drink and glad we waited and chose here rather than going elsewhere, only thing is it does get busy so you can't necessarily just walk in we were a group of 5 but definitely worth the wait!!! Would go back. Thanks to all.

Busy, but only a short wait, fish is cooked fresh, so worth it. Plenty of staff. Gluten free options clearly marked and staff well aware. GF vinegar and tartare sauce available. Even a note on the board to say the name of the boat who supplied the fish.

Perfect every time we visit, staff and food are always amazing!

We very much enjoyed our fish & chips with curry sauce and mushy peas. It was a busy Friday evening but service was swift, efficient and friendly. We are used to haddock mainly so it was nice to try cod (and cod bites) for a change. We are also from the part of the country where curry sauce isn't common but it didn't take us long to become fans! The batter was particularly lovely and crispy

Haddock and chips with curry sauce and salt and pepper prawns. Fish was nicely cooked (moist inside) , crispy batter. Prawns were big and juicy with a crispy coating and curry sauce was awesome. Little one loved her cod bites and the curry sauce. Super friendly service, highly recommended

Food was good but not good anymore since food is not halal. Gutted about that and also had a rubbish experience last time with the staff there. Staff were quite rude. Don't think people should be prevented from their own honest experience.

I drove 30 mins to this place from home, following a recommendation from a friend. I telephoned ahead to ensure I would be served as it was close to closing time, spoke to a lady who’s first name begins with a B. On arrival served by a stroppy lady who refused to serve me. Tried to explain I’d already rang ahead and was assured I’d be served, she wasn’t interested whatsoever, she has zero customer services skills and an overall appaling experience, waste of my time and a great example on not how to treat customers, there’s a right and a wrong way to speak to people.

Tasty fish and ship, I ordered Cod the Signature menu. Pick this shop bcos seeing so many customers queuing inside the shop. I'm not disappointed at all.

Fantastic fish and chips, however I wasn't too impressed with the haddock it may be different without the skin but the cod and REAL mushy peas were spot on use the Longsands app to save queuing.

Been a few years ago and it was very nice. However today was very disappointed. The haddock was OK but not enough batter and the chips were disgusting. They were pale tasteless and hard. The staff were very nice but the food poor

Absolutely phenomenal!!! One of the best chippies I’ve ever had. The staff were incredibly accommodating, friendly and just simply good at what they do. I am a vegan and the option to have vegan battered sausage and chips did not disappoint! The curry sauce by the way is UNREAL! It was so peppery and flavourful. Coming from London I will definitely be making the effort to come back up and bring my family to experience it too. 11/10!!

Best fish and chips I've had for miles around!

Fish was very small and thin. Chips were tasty but had to throw several black and green ones away. Disappointed will not return.

Great fish and chips, had gf batter and gf vinegar for my wife, service and food was excellent. Would be handy if it was a little larger as the standing tables round the edge would have been great as the weather was dire, but if you use them you feel like you're hindering people in the queue or people or people waiting to pick up their food. Still that's a minor niggle and the food, service and staff were ace

Staying in Tynemouth for two weeks and we were recommended to visit Longsands. Wow, we know some good places to eat, but this wins hands down. As foodies it's easy to be disappointed, so we'll be back before leaving. Exceptional.

We had a (Takeaway)portion of chips each & honestly they were some of the best I've ever had! Chunky chips, covered in salt n vinegar with heaps of batter, at a reasonable price of £4 each. The service was spot on , staff were very helpful, considering how busy it was I got served quickly too. I would highly recommend.

The best fish and chips iv ever had!! Called in after a two hour drive up north to visit me mum and Auntie 3 x cod 1x haddock. Service friendly and efficient. Very busy and well worth the wait.

The coating of the fish cracks like glass which is perfect. I ate an hour after getting the take out but it was still super crispy. Can’t wait to sit by the beach and eat this again.

I didn’t believe the other reviews when I heard dogs could wait inside, but it’s true! And they have water bowls outside too. Not big enough for indoor seating but outside is nice on a day it’s not cold

Great tasting fish and chips, prices on par with others in the area and the staff are friendly and polite. I've tried a few different options in this location, but this is by far my favourite.

Super Crispy batter and fresh fish. The cod bites were excellent and a really good portion size! Gets busy so be prepared to wait during lunch time.

It's an excellent place for a traditional fish and chips made to order, so the 7-minute or so wait is well worth it. Inside standing tables and outside sitting area. Great service. Highly recommend.

Our waiter was attentive, humorous, and polite. We all had fish and chips, the fish was so fresh and tasty, chips were great too. Great beverage choice. Would recommend you book a table.

I am sure every fish place had a certificate saying best fish place yada yada. This is by a English mile one of the best chippies I have even eaten from. The food and options are great...they throw in sweet chilli sauce which I thought would not work with the combo of fish and chips but it's unreal. The pricing is bang on. The portions are massive. Please support them. I promise you won't regret it.

Hands down the best fish and chips place in Newcastle area, period. Furthermore, one of us has food allergies and the staff were very attentive and understanding.

Great fish and chip place that combines stylishness with traditional fish food prep. Seating indoors and some tables outside on Front Street, Tynemouth. Friendly and efficient staff who handle the constant stream of orders with good grace. Nice touch: a chalkboard shows the source of the daily catch, with the number and name of the boat.

Food nice although sadly they forgot to put curry sauce in bag....

The food was ok but not exceptional, portion size good. Service was very good, quick and very friendly. The place was busy but somehow , for me, didnt have great atmosphere.

I'm not a huge fan of fish & chips normally but my wife and daughter fancied some while we were on holiday in Tynemouth. We've been here many times before and always had food at Longsands... Even though October it was mild weather so sat outside to enjoy our chippy tea. I'm a big eater but even I was stuffed with my fish & chips, they were delicious and I was stuffed. I'd definitely go again as I've always had good food here. Worth a visit if you're in the lovely town of Tynemouth.

Wow wow wow! After a 2 hour drive north to visit my daughter, she suggested fish and chips at the beach and Longsands did not disappoint. We has to queue, as the place is clearly popular, but the friendly staff were very efficient, so the wait wasn't too lengthy and in any case completely worth it. The fish was incredible. Huge flakes of white cod; fresh and absolutely delicious. The chips were also fantastic. We sat in the Autumn sunshine , overlooking the sea with our feast (in recycleable boxes) and it was perfect. Cannot wait to return!

we were there in mid-September a Thursday evening. Ordered a Cod&prawn mix +chips, and also the mussels. the portion is big and we loved it. Very delicious. The down side is they are closing quite early. Plan to go again.

Stopped by this afternoon from Athens,Greece.. A party of four,first time having fish and chips.. The meal was amazing, fried just right not too oily. Fresh cut chips . Our service was fast and our servers, Nathaniel and Rachel were friendly and made sure we were well taken care of. Thank you for a wonderful experience..I don't know if we will ever pass this way again but we will surely remember you.

Whenever we are in Tynemouth, we always take a trip to Longsands Fish and Chips. The quality of the food is excellent, never greasy or soggy. They take great pride in their products and long may they serve the best fish and chips in the area. Awesome!!

Got takeaway fish bites and chips from my local chippy. Love this place normally. Chips were absolutely awful. Stale and hard!!! Not worth what they charge at all
