Ling Di Long in Ceredigion

Slightly different to what I thought of as a stereotypical chinese restaurant - this was a great experience. There appeared to be no table for a lone diner but one was quickly set up for me and as soon as other diners left I was offered their table in a cubicle. Service was great with a little bit of a laugh with the server. I enjoyed it throughly, down to the traditional Banana Fritter as a dessert ! Really nice bring in a bit of cheer to what had been a long day.

This was the only Chinese in Lampeter so perhaps people who rate it have nothing else to compare it to? We had the prawn toast, spring rolls and smoked chicken for starters. The first two were good but the smoked chicken just had no real taste to it - it was very bland. Mains were crispy shredded chicken and sweet and sour chicken both with egg fried rice. I have to say that the chicken in both dishes was beautifully cooked, but the sauces just didn't have that much flavour. We were both full from a late lunch elsewhere so perhaps that factor also reduced our enjoyment. Service and value were both excellent.

While we were on holiday in the area we came across this Chinese. We decided to order a takeaway. The food was lovely fast service and decent prices. Very nice.

Wanted to treat the family for a meal while on holiday, so thought we would try here, spent over £50 on food, is tasted like what you could cook at home, there was not any flavour to any of the food, the only thing that was good was the rice, not worth the money,

My wife and I went for an evening meal. Welcomed and shown to our table by the very friendly staff, both of whom made sure we were well looked after throughout and took the time to chat with us and recommend places to visit in the area. The salt and pepper squid starter was delicious and generous portions. We also ordered Duck Kung Po and Mushroom fried rice, both of which I would definitely order again. The Duck Kung Po was tender and tasty with a decent hit of chilli. We finished off with banana fritters which were as good as it gets. We will certainly return the next time we are in the Lampeter area.

My partner and I decided we would like a Chinese whilst we were on holiday in the area. Looking online we saw that there weren’t a lot of options and so booked the Ling Di Long! When we arrived the person at the counter seemed rather stressed and was rushing all over the place. After a few minutes he pointed at a table and said that it was ours. We sat down but quickly realised we were sat next to an ironing board all of the table cloths, spare decorations etc, rather unusual we thought but not being fussy not a problem. A waiter then presented us with a drinks menu which was ‘sticky’. When we went to order our drinks my partner asked for a pink lemonade to which the response was ‘we don’t have that, I wish the owner would change the drinks menu as it causes me a lot of stress! therefore she ordered a Diet Coke. When the drinks were brought over the waiter said to my partner ‘do you want to try that as it’s been there a while and we have trouble with the bottles’. On reluctantly tasting the drink she responded ‘that’s disgusting’ The syrup had separated (it had been there in an open plastic bottle for a VERY long time). After this and the whole bizarre ambience of the place we were beginning to question what the food would be like if they couldn’t get Diet Coke fresh! I paid for my beer and we made our excuses and left!! It’s a shame as I believe with some changes it could be a thriving business as there is no competition in the area. I am not fussy at all and don’t normally review good or bad but I felt I would try and warn people. Ling Di Long, best of luck!

As a fairly regular customer I have always been more than satisfied with every meal that I have had there. However, my latest meal came nowhere near the previous standards in either quality or presetation.

Ordered a take away on the 23/8/22 Living locally I have had a sit down meal in there before and thought the portions were tasty but rather small for the money, the meal we had this time was horrendous...a total rip off ! The chicken foo young was a very bland omelette with just a sprinkle of chicken in, nothing else...the mushroom one was the same,we had trouble finding the egg in the egg fried rice, the chips were inedible...re heated, dry and rock hard...possibly made of real wood chips ? And after having a phone conversation about the curry sauce being gluten free we will never know ...as they never included it in the order but still took the money for it !

Had a lovely time at Ling Di Long, lovely spring rolls for starters which were freshly made! Wonderful service and a great variety of dishes on the menu. I went for the crispy beef and yung chow rice, which were wonderful, thank you Ling Di Long for a lovely evening meal!

My husband and I had a great meal tonight at Ling-di-Long. Absolutely wonderful starters. Followed by a quarter crispy duck with pancakes. Then a beef main meal and chicken main meal and rice. A good bottle of Sauvignon and we were both very happy.

We love chinese food. This was always a great place. Have found the stuff seems warmed up and double cooked these days. Great little restaurant. Come on guys freshen up the food again a bit and we will be back. Poor taste from last two orders that seemed more like left overs. Sorry.

Searched long and hard for a decent Chinese Takeaway in the area. Hygiene ratings on many are pretty grim. This restaurant is rated 3 but we felt the comments made by the inspectors did not warrant any concern. My wife and daughter always have the same dish whenever we buy a Chinese takeaway, so this was not a problem. However I do like to try different dishes but I struggled to find anything new and interesting, so settled for a big standard Special curry. No complaints from the girls and my curry was only ok. Whilst there is very little to complain about, I doubt I would eat from here again.

Had takeaway delivered from here, could not fault it, good sized portions, tasty food, arrived at time agreed

That was the worst restaurant I have ever been to. No atmosphere, no care from the staff, and terrible food. It came out literally minutes after wr ordered, making me think it was all microwaved. I will never go there again!!

Very nice set takeaway meal whilst on holiday. Ordered straight away over phone with a 30 minute pick up time. Also no problem to swap some of the items on the set menu.

This is the best Chinese I have had in a long time. Definitely worth it! The food was fantastic, so flavourful. We have the chicken balls with satay sauce. The chicken were very meaty and the satay source was delicious. The spicy noodles are a great shout, not too spicy but just give you enough heat. The crispy shredded beef is a great addition :)

Had a lovely meal. Restaurant quiet maybe due to people used to ordering takeaways but food was really good. I ordered Kung Poa chicken which was the best I have had in a long time,Good portion sizes and good value.Staff were busy taking takeaway orders was but service was excellent.Will definitely return.

Although fairly local, we only recently discovered Ling Di Long during the summer of 2020 when the restaurant participated in ‘Eat Out To Help Out’. Since then, we’ve been hooked! The food is lovely and service is exceptional. We’ve been lucky enough to be served by Naomi. Every time we’ve visited (around 6 dimes since August)..Nothing is ever too much trouble for her...Naomi is clearly in touch with the needs of her customers...Thank you so much for yet another awesome experience...we’ll be back again soon!

Really did not enjoy. Egg fried rice, chips, chicken curry all not nice. Dried out chips taste like they’ve been there for days. Soggy chicken in the curry. Egg fried rice tasteless. Even the prawn crackers wasn’t nice! Avoid avoid avoid.

We visited here on the last evening of the Eat Out to Help Out scheme and it was very busy there. However, the service was great. Welsh speaking as well. Diolch. The food arrived quickly and it was very tasty.

I have been here many times and in my previous visits found that service had gone down and on occasions sobhad the quality. However things have definitely changed the food was lovely and service was brilliant maybe due to the owner being back in charge but cant wait to visit again

After years of not going to Ling di Long we started going again and it’s been great but the last few times its been worse and this is our last Chinese from here. Every dish was full of flavourless coloured water even the rice. The dog had a lovely dinner though.

Food okay but nothing to rant about although only used as a take-a-way service on this occasion. Staff very pleasant and polite.

So I am a frequent visitor to this restaurant and the food is always of a good standard hot and tasty. I have however noticed a few things that have changed that maybe need to be improved. On my last visit we were told they didn't have gin..couldn't do liqueur coffees even thought they were on the menu and had no desserts. This is either bad ordering or they didn't want to do them. There was a couple if young ladies working on one if my visits both very good even though it was busy and on my last visit a young man who I think was new but again working hard. The staff seemed very casually dressed in hoddie tops trainers etc think maybe this should be addressed didn't seem right for the venue. I hope they get on top of these few issues as I live this venue and the food is really nice.

Entered into a cold empty restaurant to be "greeted" by a very casual person. Asked for a table for two and was pointed to one, which turned out to be grubby. Was told the credit card was broken and wouldn't be repaired until next week. Sat and ordered our meal. The prawn toast arrived and I asked for some sweet chili sauce and was told they didnt do it!! The receptionist/waiter/ take away orderer, was rushing about trying to do everything. She deserves a medal.Our main meals arrived minus plates. after sometime they arrived with chips, not the edible ones but ones on the plates. The food was utterly tasteless and cold. The only funny part of the evening was an elderly gent trying to order chicken curry with popadoms!!! not realising he wasn't in an Indian restaurant. One of the worse meals we have endured

Not sure what to say really it was that bad. We ordered beef curry and king prawn curry, but we just as well have ordered onion curry because that’s all we got. Very bland wont be visiting again.

Great little find. We ordered the freshly cooked buffet - whereby you have the whole menu at your disposal. Don't think anyone will ever do it justice but it's fun to try.It's better than a buffet where all the food is steeping and everyone is picking at it all day. This food is freshly cooked FOR YOU.I really like Lampeter and I enjoy my visits to this restaurant.Excellent.

Great takeaway meal- all dishes were really nice and tasty. Only criticism would be slightly expensive

Service is good and fast, food seems to come from the cash and carry. No interesting Chinese regional dishes just normal Americanised Chinese ie Chop Suey et al

Lovely food friendly and helpful staff. Shame they only have instant coffee. Relaxed atmosphere I recommend their ribs and sweet and sour pork.

Whilst my son suffered at the hands of Nehar, I took the Chinese option. Food was tasty but the restaurant was stingy by not giving prawn crackers even if we had spent £15 on the takeaway.

Been to this restaurant a couple of times now and the food is delicious. Staff are very friendly and service was quick. My only complaint is that the restaurant was cold.

First visit as my friend and I are local university mature students. It was a busy Saturday night and the restaurant was coping with takeaway orders as well as people eating in the restaurant. It was odd as an ironing board and iron were put up in the restaurant with folded cloths on the back of seats!??

Although we have intended to try the food here before-today was the first time.We were certainly not disappointed -we ordered a lunch time take away and can honestly say that it was the best Chinese food that we have had .Everything was cooked nicely and with very good portions.The lemon chicken was succulent and crisp but not dry,the rice perfectly cooked ,the list goes on -we honestly could not fault anything.With the addition of the free prawn crackers (which were very fresh and crispy) it made a perfect birthday lunch.We will certainly be coming here more often now. I must add that we were served by an extremely pleasant and knowledgeble young man -full marks to Ling Di Long

Have never had a bad experience here and I visit here around once a month for a Saturday night takeaway. Food is always cooked fresh and is never greasy or fatty and is always served hot. Its very good value for money and the staff are always friendly and helpful. It is the best Chinese food around this area and I would not use anywhere else. Keep up the good work!

I've had the privlage to eat hear twice once on a cold and rainy feburay evening, and once on a realy hot day in July. Boath times our party has not booked ahead and got seated.

Always lovely food. Order of the phone are always correct, free bits for higher bills are always appreciated. I only choose not to sit and dine as it is a little hot in the restaurant even in winter. Great Food.

Can’t fault this place really, we have had a few take away meals and always been good. Will be back again

This was the best food we ate from any Chinese establishment that was near Newquay. It still wasn't what we are used to but it certainly helped to stop the mundane local food of fish n chips. God, west Wales is in need of some diversity.

This is one of the best Chinese take aways in the area, we travel from Aberaeron to eat there and it has never skipped a beat. Really worth a visit

We have been to this restaurant a number of times and enjoyed our meal. However, tonight’s visit will be our last. The starters were fine but my main course was inedible. I found a clump of black hair in my food which made me feel very sick. There was also beef in my prawn dish! I explained this to the manager who did apologise. However, as I could not finish my meal (left all of it except for a couple of mouthfuls) I was very disappointed when he only removed a drink from our bill (worth £1.90). The buffet menu is £18.90!!!! Sorry but won’t be back again!

I must admit, I’m not usually a huge fan of Chinese restaurants and take aways, but that’s only because the quality of the food is usually extremely poor and I’m left very disappointed by my meal. This is not true at all of Ling di Long. I ate at the restaurant with my friend tonight, as we have done many a time before. It never disappoints. The food is flavoursome and of a good quality. You’re certainly not getting rubbish here. I ordered the duck spring rolls as my starter (although I was a little disappointed that they now give you sweet chilli sauce with them instead of hoisin sauce - please change it back to hoisin sauce!), and chicken and cashew nuts with egg fried rice. Delicious! This is the only Chinese where I’ve had good chicken and cashew. Apart from the sweet chilli sauce with the duck spring rolls, keep doing what you’re doing!

I have been at the University for a number of years and have consistently visited Ling Di Long for the duration of that time. It too has been consistent in both its quality and levels of service throughout that time.

Had the unpleasant experience of eating in this establishment, the staff were rude and certainly need training in this area, as you can tell from the other reviews from dozens of people the food and staff are lacking in every way! Food was chewy and cheap! Save your money and eat somewhere else!

We had seczhuan lamb and the buddha tofu I believe. So fresh and tasty. Easily seen why it was so busy!

Been to this restaurant many many times and it's an incredibly popular place, but yesterday's will be the last! 2 young men running the show, 1 of which has been there for a long long time (believe he is the manager now) and the young lad that I would have fired mid shift, rude obnoxious and spent most of the time in the men's toilets (which is funny as he didn't noticed that the toilet paper needed changing) listening to HEADPHONES while waiting tables, swearing as he walks by "how much does she think I f#####g earn in this s###hole" after having a very heated conversation in Polish on the phone, describing how he got so drunk he puked everywhere on Friday night. Basically the biggest imbecile I have ever seen or heard, had 2 young children and they witnessed and heard every single swear word that came out of his bleached blonde thick head.

Standard Chinese fare. The lady server wins repeat custom from us and others we have overheard. Food is sometimes great, more often good. Opt for the all-you can eat option and you won't be disappointed.

The obvious choice in Lampeter is Loyds fish and chips which is excellent, but wanting something different we ventured across the road to Ling Di Long. This is a small restaurant offering two courses for £6.20 and very good it was too. The food was tasty, well presented and good value. The staff are very welcoming and proud of their restaurant and food. Worth a visit if your in the area

Very friendly service, food good, nice choice of soft drinks. A good range of veggie food too. A decent choice if you are looking for something different in Lampeter.

We come here often and had such a good meal the other night I felt the restaurant deserved another review. As usual the restaurant was spotless and tidy. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful. The waitress was so lovely, when my friend asked for a dish they didn't have the ingredients for, she actually offered to go to the shops and get it there and then! I've never in my life seen service like that.! There is so much of a selection on the menu, I still have many dishes yet to try. The food was great as always, and we all left feeling very full and happy.

Precooked chips warmed up, very salty food, barely edible so would not go back - first time there in four years but disappointed

The restaurant itself is nicely decorated and the staff were friendly and helpful. However, the food was disappointing. We ordered chicken and cashew nuts which we found to be very sweet and the nuts were soft and tasted stale. Our Mongolian lamb congealed very quickly and was quite bland having been described as a hot and spicy dish.

although we use the takeaway service normally, we decided to sit in the restaurant and have a sit down meal and i must say it was well worth it.The manageress in the shop is very typical of Chinese people who work in this service industry, she was very attentive very happy and smiling and as a result we felt she cared.The food was excellent i can highly recommend the sizzling squid in black bean sauce as well as the beef in sweet chilli sauce and Mongolian lamb. If your like me and prefer authentic taste rather than the dumbed down European style then ask for it they wont be offended. Have eaten here many times in the last year.Very tasty food,always hot and served with a smile.The manager always has a big smile and greets customers in a friendly manner.Not a big fan of tripadviser but I have to POINT out some reviews I have to tell future customers.On the 22nd of March while eating the buffet menu in the restaurant I noticed one of the waitresses was visibly upset while talking on the phone.I could hear a womans voice shouting on the phone(anger management needed here) asking for a refund as they accused the restaurant of forgetting one item on a takeaway order.The manager could not get a word in,lol.This woman threatened the manager by telling her that she would get 6(six) of her friends to write a bad report on Ling di long.PLEASE ,to future customers SCROLL down the the page and you will see 3(three) similar reviews from these nasty,vindivtive and childish people.(3 reviews to come,lol) I will report these reviewers as they are making a mockery of tripadviser.As I have said I am NOT a fan of this site due to reviews from people like this.GOOD LUCK this restaurant

My family and I decided to order a take away over the phone when we were staying in the area. The order was read back to us twice, but when we got home after picking it up we saw a dish was missing called the restaurant straighaway and was told in no uncertain terms that we hadn't ordered this dish even though we had paid for it!! The staff were unapologetic and rude about their mistake and told me I was lying!! The food we did receive was of a poor quality the meat was fatty. All in all an upleasant experience would not recommend.

Eaten in and had take out from here many times. The food is always very good. So much selection. I love the all you can eat buffet. Staff always very friendly and the restaurant is clean and tidy. Food is reasonably priced too.

A bit of mixed feelings about our visit to the restaurant.Firstly on a positive note they were really polite and patient even with us having 3 toddlers which kept making a mess. Also with a large group of us. The food was lovely and definitely worth trying.Although I found there to be a bit of a language barrier with the manager (who was lovely) as when the manager came to confirm what we were still waiting to be served and mentioned a dish that sounded similar to what I was expecting I confirmed and repeated the dish name, which she agreed. Although some really spicy dish came out instead to which I questioned and she seemed annoyed that the confusion happened even though I tried to explain. We decided to continue to try the dish (which we couldn't eat in the end as it was too spicy) and they would make the item I had requested. Although what I was really disappointed with was the way the manager then in front of the restaurant told the waitress off (who took the order correctly as she had repeated it after taking the order) although really I think the problem was us not understanding the manager due to the language barrier and as she was speaking too quickly. We ended up with 2 dishes we never ordered in the end :D Additionally we ordered ice cream for the kids and adults and they were overly stingy with the adults portion who had one tiny scoop. We had to keep ordering some to get a decent amount. Really silly seeing as we were paying for a large amount for our booking!!! I just think overall a lot more understanding was needed. No offence intended.

We decided to eat here for our anniversary, I'd had takeaways before but not eaten in. Our young waitress was polite and helpful. We decided to opt for the Special Buffet so we could try new dishes. I started with fried tofu in chilli and salt, then followed with Vegetarian duck pancakes, rice, vegetable satay and Lo Han Buddha's Delight. All were freshly cooked and well presented. There were also complimentary prawn crackers. My partner's choices included BBQ spare ribs, Chicken shashlik and Duck in orange sauce. We both really enjoyed our food. The only thing that was a bit misleading was the menu says tea, coffee and ice cream are included .It was actually a drink OR ice cream, not both.

I have had many take a ways from this Chinese restaurant BUT never again.We picked up our order only to find two dishes missing on arriving back home, when I phoned the restaurant to say there had been a mistake with my order and said that we would come back to pick the missing items up they were very rude and refused to complete my order. If you make an order over the phone make sure you check you have all of your order before leaving the restaurant Also the food was not as good as orders I have previously had. I am wondering if it has changed hands. One thing for sure I will not be going back there in a hurry for a curry !!!!!!!!

I have to try an Hot and Sour soup from every Chinese takeaway or restaurant I see. I called in this 1, the staff were lovely, so friendly and chatty, made me feel so welcome even the locals in there waiting for their meal chatted, lovely atmosphere, would definitely recommend to anyone. So my starter was a Hot and Sour Soup, it was fantastic, just how I like it, it just got hotter/spicier the more I ate, my nose was tingling by the end. That is my idea of a fantastic H&S soup. The rest of my meal was just as nice but I don't see myself as a connoisseur on every item of Chinese food, just H&S Soup

I frequented Ling Di Long frequently in my 4 years I lived in Lampeter, even had dates at the restaurant and take away and found it to be exceptional. The waiting time was great, I wasn't waiting long for the food and its standard was great. The staff were lovely and friendly and were happy to converse with you whilst you waited for your orders. Would definitely recommend to anyone in the area wanting great Chinese food.

Had a lovely chowmein here and had great service the short woman always serves with a big smile and a great welcoming. Will definitely be back soon :)

Food was chewy and grisly very poor quality! Dry and over cooked. The staff were highly RUDE with even the manager calling the girl working there "harsh" when apologising for the way she had behaved, what a way to run a business! Disgusting service, disgusting food and a disgusting attitude! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Went here last week and there was a wait.This time went in and prawn crackers had a hair in them told them and they gave us more. They had a hair in them as well didn't complain this time. Crispy duck came out and there was broken bones in the duck had to spit it out after nearly breaking my teeth . Main meal came out and had sweet and sour chicken balls cold in the middle where has the chef gone ? Is he on holiday ? Won't be going back !

it is 4 hours drive to Ling Di Long for us but well worth it. Have done the journey so many times and never disappointed. Every thing is delicious

We had lunch at Ling Di Long, Lampeter. We had traveled down from llandeilo, we wanted to go somewhere different to the local cafes and we are glad we did. We got there for 12 and we were greeted by a lovely woman who directed us to our seats with a beaming smile I had pork springs rolls and satay chicken with egg fried rice from their lunch time menu. Two courses for £6.20. The food tasted wonderful and the portions were perfect for lunch time, i was satisfied but not uncomfortably full. The service was fast and friendly The environment was calm, clean and pleasant.I would definitely visit again and I'd recommend this restaurant to my friends/family. Thank you Ling Di Long.

My wife and I visited with friends for an evening meal to raise funds to support the work of Ty Hafan, the children’s hospice based near Caerdydd / Cardiff. One of our friends is taking part later this year in a challenging trek along a section of the Great Wall of China in aid of Ty Hafan. He'd organised this evening as part of his fundraising efforts and arranged a delicious set buffet. I enjoyed our starter of vegetarian spring roll, BBQ spare ribs, seaweed and crispy chicken wings with a sweet chilli sauce. This was followed by a main course of sweet and sour chicken Hong Kong style, beef in satay sauce and roast pork Cantonese style accompanied by quick fried mixed vegetables and egg fried rice. I didn't have room for a dessert having enjoyed such a variety of dishes, all freshly prepared and well presented by welcoming and helpful staff. Diolch yn fawr / thank you all at Ling Di Long for a delicious meal, excellent service and a lovely evening. 

Looking for somewhere to eat on a cold January evening and found this restaurant very cosy and welcoming. Very good selection and first class service, well done

came here with fiancé and her gran we ate inside my gosh the food was lush it was so nice my fiancé and I ate everything we ordered nothing was going to waste the two people who work here a lady and a young girl were both marvellous polite friendly and looked very happy to be doing their jobs and giving service

We personally haven't eaten in here yet but each time we have had a takeaway from here the staff have been great. The food is always good and tasty.

Recommended by a friend and we were`nt disappointed , very tasty food ,reasonably priced and very fast efficient service . Travelled 25 miles to have a meal here and enjoyed it enough to return in the future .

We have eaten here on numerous occasions since moving to the area. We've been aa a couple and with family, including young children.The service is better from the older members of staff, youngsters can be a bit hit and miss - possibly just need a little more training, but staff are always polite and try their best.Food arrives quickly and is of excellent quality, there is a good variety on the menu, with some inventive dishes we've not previously had that are now firm favourites.We'd been to the other Chinese in town prior to being recommended to try Ling Di Long and it was very disappointing so it's great to have this place close by to reliably provide good food and service.

We walked in as a group to order takeaway and ordered a vast array of different meals and the lady was very diligent throughout.We were advised of the wait and the timing was accurate which is pleasing. As a group we shared the food out and had bits and pieces and we were all very pleased with all our meals. There was no particular dish that wasnt good albeit the chicken balls were maybe a bit big but thats me being very picky. We all agreed that we would go back again.Parking is a short walk from the restaurant and you cannot (legally) park outside.We didnt eat in but that is an option. From peeking at the menu, prices seemed reasonable. Decor is traditional, not really to my taste but it wouldnt put me off. Alcohol is available in the restaurant

I have used this Restaurant take away service for a number of months now, I must say that the menu has some different items rather than the usual Chinese fayre and has a very good vegetarian menu. The food is very reasonably priced and also the portions are more than adequate. The staff are welcoming and friendly and as such the atmosphere is very good and conducive to having an enjoyable meal. I recommend this establishment as it friendly reasonable clean and parking is not far away

Ordered bottle of House white wine, it was room temperature!!!! We had to buy a glass each while they tried to chill a full bottle. Amazed they don't keep some chilled. Only one other table had customers. Food ok, very salty. Staff friendly.

My wife, my son and myself had a wonderful meal this evening in the Ling di Long chinese restaurant in Lampeter, Ceredigion. The food was excellent and the service was polite and very friendly! Highly recommended.

My friend and I have been there many times. I always happy with the food. Good variety on the menu and at reasonable price. All I can say the food is wonderful and always with great quantity. I would say the one person meal is enough for two!

Grabbed a quick take-away last Sunday evening and was very pleased with it.The restaurant was nearly full but the service was quick. The portions were very generous and well cooked. Recommended for either a meal in or out.

Best Chinese I have had! Lovely curry sauce amd good portions of rice. Omelette also the best I have had from a Chinese before. Will definitely go back again :-D

If you're looking to slob out and eat as much as you can physically eat, then Ling Di Long is perfect for someone on a budget, and who loves Chinese food. Seating is great, although if the place is the full it gets a little loud. Staff are by and large, polite and easy to converse with, although the Chinese lady who seems to be the manager can barely speak English beyond "mmm ok", and "Great!" Food is filling and delicious. My personal favorites are the vermicelli and seasoned chicken wings. Great stuff! Waiting times range from fine, to unreasonably long if it's busy.

My wife took me here for a birthday treat. Surprisingly, it was very busy for a Sunday night. So much so that we literally could not get in past several rowdy people crowded around the till arguing about their bill.A long table for a large family group occupied much of the room, but we must congratulate the parents on the excellent behaviour of their 5 school age children. Another 4 tables held groups of 2 to 7 people. Overall perhaps 30 customers, so 2 (under 18) waitresses and a manageress should have been able to cope. Unfortunately though, the restaurant also has a very busy take away trade, so the manageress was running past our table every couple of minutes, working herself to a frazzle - even having to help out with the cooking! Sadly this all led to the dining experience being less than ideal.Decor is the normal basic chinese style. Chairs were comfortable and table linen was clean. The eating utensils were dessert spoons and flat plates rather than traditional bowls with chopsticks, though I imagine the latter would be available on request.The food was variable. Duck spring rolls were tasty but fractionally overcooked, hot and sour soup was lovely - with large chunks of various meats. King prawn chop suey was very good, though the sauce was a little lacking in taste. Grilled salmon was a exactly that - a piece of fish with oil and soy drizzled over. Satay vegetables turned out to be a portion of sliced mixed veg swimming in an ocean of watery sauce. Fried rice was superb. Perfectly cooked and with lots of meaty chunks. Choice and price of drinks were reasonable.Would we return? Probably, because we only live 3 miles away. They do a cheap weekday lunch special, which is a limited menu but great value for money. I would think twice though before going again for an evening meal, because I expect a little better for 50 quid.

Had a fantastic meal there with my family. My son just back from Italy and want some Chinese food. We were very surprised how friendly and welcoming the stuff were. Had the shredded pork in Hoi sin sauce which was so good! Definitely be going back, highly recommend it.

we tried to think when we'd had better, fresher, friendlier served chinese food and honestly couldn't think of one. Had the buffet and enjoyed all the dishes, repeated some of the starters - loved the satay, beef butterfly (different!), hot and sour soup - full of meat and spice and so on all through the meal. Beers pricey so not a booze up. They have no idea what a popty-ping is, everything freshly cooked - large portions so beware. Best to have a large group to try everything !
