Probably the best breakfast bagels in Cardiff.

We called in there today with the grandchildren and enjoyed it there

BAGELS, PASTA, SERVICE. I got the wrong directions to get a coffee but found this great little cafe. The staff were awesome and the prices are great for Cardiff with tons of offers, for students and services workers. Definitely going back!

Really sad about this because I used to love getting Lilo's pasta for lunch, but they've made some changes to how they prepare the food in the last few months and the pasta has been very undercooked and unpleasant every time I've been there since. I like pasta al dente, but I'm talking doughy and nearly raw. It got to the point where on my last visit I asked them to leave the pasta in to cook for longer, and it was still so undercooked it was actually crunchy in parts. I used to go nearly every week but will avoid going for a few months at least in the hopes that they figure our how to cook the pasta properly.

The bagels and smoothies are amazing. We will definitely be trying the pasta next!

Absolutely horrendous service. Couldn't get the delivery items more wrong if they tried. Ordered 1 big breakfast bagel with a hash brown and brown sauce 1 big breakfast bagel with hash brown and halloumi again with brown sauce. Breakfast bagels come with Egg, Bacon and sausage. Received - 1 bagel with no egg or hash brown and red sauce 1 bagel - no egg, no bacon, no sausage and red sauce. Literally just halloumi and hash brown 🤣🤣 It's so bad it's comical!

Bagel and pasta were great. 5 tatter tots for £1.99 seems a very small portion for the price. Won’t order that particular item again if that’s the standard portion.

Found this place hidden away, and decided to try it for a breakfast bagel. "The full one" which you can see was delicious and only £4.70 with a hot or cold drink. Everything within the bagley was delicious, and the coffee hit the spot. The pasta boxes selection looked amazing, I'll be revisiting to try these!

Wrong items and all out of their foils. We got 3 bagels neither of them were the two we actually ordered!

My boyfriends ordered the pasta pot. We don’t normally bother with reviews etc but he’s insisted I put up a good review! I tried it and the meatballs with bolognese sauce and sausage (random I know) was just unreal. Best place we’ve ordered from on Uber so far!💕

I ate here more out of convenience than choice because it is close to the bus stop from where I needed to catch my next bus, my bus was, as is usual with the Cardiff System, either considerably delayed or cancelled without notice, and I was hungry. However, I was pleasantly surprised. It is what it says on the tin: a pasta joint, with all types and all toppings, in three sizes, and extras such as a side salad or garlic bread or a drink if you go for the meal deal. Fast, delicious, everything in recyclable materials, and a small but adequate seating area if you choose, as I did, to eat in. Beats a big Mac any day of the week. Card payment only.

Alright food, there is inconsistency depending on who's preparing your meal. They sometimes don't use golves, sometimes they overcook and spill some food but sometimes its perfect, not for the price though. Also they got rid of the good rega rega sauce.

The food was not what it said it was going to be. I ordered pasta of the month, pepperoni and I got shrimp. Big difference and an allergy worry

Staff are always lovely, however the new prices, the soup of olive oil that I received with my pasta, the quantity of food, and the complete lack of seasoning (not even salt?) not so much. You could also see they are about to close as everything was wrapped up. Still hungry, but now I feel nauseous because of- and can taste only olive oil.

Good was amazing! Lots of flavour and plenty of it, so filling.

Be prepared to wait 20 minutes (like I did) in an empty shop while they prepare the Uber eat meals to send out. They then gave me a medium meal when I asked for small. The actual meal was inedible towards the final quarter as the pasta was swimming in oil. See photo. Work near by, so fairly disappointing I won't be coming back.

Staying at a local hotel during lockdown, we were really disappointed by our booked breakfasts so on the 2nd day we found Lilo's . The bacon bagel and the avocado and egg bagel were both amazing. Fresh, well cooked and loads of filling. Good coffee and orange juice too. Quick, friendly service

Found this absolute gem of a place. Bagels 10/10 pasta 10/10 yet to try the milkshakes, but they look banging.

This is an innovative offer and a really good strategy based on price. The food is delicious and good quality whilst it is inexpensive. If you have never tried it, then make sure you do when you're in the Newport Road area. It is worth it.

Today I went to buy my lunch but I noticed the guy was not taking care about my pasta. He was washing dishes and cooking at the same time... The result: some pasta was burnt.

The pasta was not seasoned. Not even a little. My boyfriend recommended this little pasta bar and raved about it. I have even tried your Meat feast pasta which was good. However, I just tried the Meatball pasta and it was terrible. I couldn't finish it. Once I had finished the meatballs (of which there were only 4), I physically could not stomach the rest of the pasta alone. It was season-less, almost bitter and just grim. I don't think it represents Lilo's taste standards (well I'm hoping), but this was not a good experience.

Fresh, fast & really tasty. Plenty of options for your pasta with various proteins, sides & fillings. I was in & out in less than 5 minutes. Definitely recommended!

Fantastic food - went in yesterday around afternoon time; the staff were super jolly, food is super good; You can swap out sauces and fillings that you don't like for an alternative option (had a meat feast with Bolognese sauce) food tasted wonderful. Venue is really nice, and feels really cozy to be in. Prices are pretty average, good for a nice meal if you only have £5. Definitely would highly recommend this place, nice little gem of a place.

Bacon Bagel and a Coffee for £3, value ok-ish, quality and content variable hence not 4 stars, somedays decent quantity of bagel filling and other days can be substantially lighter. Same can be said for the coffee, somedays a decent latte, other days just a cup of foam, have had previous cause to take back and request it topping up. Come on guys a cup of coffee means a cup of coffee, full to the brim with coffee, and a bacon bagel means a bagel consistently filled with, yes you've guessed it, bacon, ta :)

Great place to grab a bite to eat if you fancy something different. The selection available is good and you have the option of creating your own. The breakfast bagels are also very tasty! Staff are friendly and down to earth. I've been coming here for a few weeks now and the service is always spot on. As the food is made in front of you you should expect delays during busy lunch periods but the staff work their socks off. When delays happen, (which aren't long anyway) staff aren't afraid to strike up conversations with customers so you aren't stood in silence - Alice is always wearing a smile and is able to predict customers names!!!! Highly recommended for breakfast or lunch! Steve (who's real name is Matt!)

Food ok. But your staff need to learn some customer service skills. Order was made incorrectly by staff. Didn’t even tell me there would be a delay or apologise. While this was going on. The staff were more concerned about serving an off shift employee. Talking loudly about how hungover they were. Not professional Won’t be visiting again

Cheap produce, poor customer service and really odd combinations for pasta. Had the chicken and chorizo with the cheese sauce main. The chicken is the horrible little cubes of reformed met, the chorizo was very grainy and the sauce was non existent

Definitely recommend the bacon sausage and egg bagels for a great start to your day. The pasta boxes make for a great lunch as well.

Not great if i'm honest, the price was very high for some warmed up precooked pasta and sauce, made worst by the fact that i felt very sick for the rest of the day because of it, and actually ended up being sick, not sure if its because the pasta wast old or because the meat was contaminated.

Tend to underheat the pasta on the Vegetarian dish due to cooking halloumi first (other options have pasta in the pan for a few minutes but my pasta and sauce were in less than a minute). Just had lukewarm pasta and cold garlic bread.

Have been here on several occasions now. Very friendly staff who are always happy to personally help you when picking your order. Your food is cooked in front of you and personalised with salad and cheese to fit your taste. I found the staff member Lauren M especially helpful when ordering. There is also student discount of 15% available.

EDIT: Guess when I came here before I was unlucky. Got a good quality medium pasta + pepsi for around £5 (w/ the discount applied) and they've sped up their service since I last came here. Absolutely brilliant! I wish Google did half-stars as this place deserves more than a 3⭐ but doesn't quite warrant a 4⭐. Staff seem a little rushed and disorganised because they seem to receive a lot of orders at once from people phoning in and using Deliveroo etc. Although I did wait quite a while for my pasta and hot chocolate (~20min) it was good as a pick-me-up in the morning. (Although nothing particularly amazing). Prices are reasonable (although a tad on the expensive side?) and the 15% Student Discount is very nice. (Helps to offset the price a bit) I've to try them, but the bagels are quite nice (or so I've been told and seen by the fact they're very popular) TL;DR Pasta is decent and a decent price, but probably a good idea to order this one through Deliveroo to your dorm/office rather than coming down here in person.

Disappointed to leave a bad review, but unfortunately I have to. Have been several times to grab a bagel before work, I think only twice out of about eight visits have they actually got the order right. This morning, after waiting 20 minutes for 2 bagels, both came without sauce and without double fillings as requested - and paid for. Not to mention someone spilled a full drink behind the counter (these things happen), and was told not to bother cleaning it up as the shop was too busy! Also, you order with one person, someone else makes it, someone else asks what you've ordered again for you to pay... what kind of process is that? Pay when you order, generate a receipt, then everyone knows what to do... it's not rocket science.

Nice atmosphere tasty and affordable

Excellent for value, especially the morning bangles, in addition with the student discount it's a steal. The pasta is a gamble, it highly depends on who prepared it. Some have more sauce than pasta, some taste decent, so order at your own risk.

Busy restaurant with an interesting offer that you can't get in a lot of other places. There weren't that many options for me but that was entirely owing to my own fussy eating. Unfortunately my dinner repeated on me most of the afternoon, soon only two stars from me. My wife ate at the same time and she enjoyed her lunch.

What an absolute car crash of an establishment. The quality of service from Lilo's Pasta is appalling. Almost every employee was clueless regarding where they were supposed to be or what they were meant to be doing (impressive considering it's a 12 x 3ft kitchen), not to mention the outrageous behaviour on display. The general attitude of the staff was disgusting. The (I assume) manager (gingery-blonde guy) felt it was appropriate to berate and openly criticise staff members in front of customers. All it did was make him look weak and ineffectual whilst also bringing a clearly frazzled young woman close to tears. Additionally, there was a Deliveroo Rider who was SO incredibly patient whilst this God awful manager kept shouting "Don't worry about the Deliveroo orders, forget the Deliveroo orders and focus on customers!" Like, that manager's inability to manage staff OR Lilo's Pasta's working relationship with Deliveroo means that Rider's delivery-time will be affected, his tips reduced and his reviews potentially negative, culminating in less work. This manager was so unpleasant and inept that his toxic managerial "style" was actually impacting people beyond his staff. Another staff member (very petite, dark haired woman) thought nothing of informing the entire queue that her colleague was "stupid" (not a misdiagnosis, to be fair, but still).The aforementioned staff member also, TWICE looked at an order-box and, quite literally, announced "I don't even know WHAT that's for" before tossing it aside to inside to clean a spatula (or something). There was a tall, bearded fellow who, I'm pretty sure, was not aware that he actually worked at Lilo's Pasta by the way he nonchalantly peeled a single onion over a fifteen minute period. His lackadaisical attitude was starkly contrasted by the grown woman who seemed to be engaged in a struggle for dominance with a salad bar that contained a staggering FIVE options. The only staff member who I can speak of positively was the delightful person who initially took my order. Talk about grace under pressure! She was friendly, efficient and took my order in her stride even when I made a couple of additional requests. Give her a medal. The rest? Straight in the bin. As for the food. Woefully mediocre. They also forgot my nachos! It's called 'The Mexican' for Pete's sake! They do stock my favourite flavour of Sanpellegrino (blood orange), however. Served just below room temperature. Delightful. Watching 5+ people struggle to heat up pre-cooked pasta was a laugh in University. Not when it costs me over a fiver. What a bloody disgrace. It's my first and last time at Lilo's Pasta. I suggest you go somewhere else too.

Very good food at very reasonable prices. Really liked the Spicy Meat Feast. Others did their own combination of starch, protein and sauce. Their meal deal is a real bargain. Fast easy meal to take out or eat in.

**editing my original review because we've got even more experience here now** Myself and my boyfriend have ordered from Lilo's more times than I'd like to admit. Super great for students like us at deadline/exam time when there's no time to cook, affordable and much better than ordering stuff like pizza/junk. I would definitely recommend Lilo's to anyone. The lunch deal boxes are packed so full when you order through deliveroo and the free toppings of salad and cheese are generous too. The large box is so good for the price, sometimes we have enough left over from lunch to eat as an evening meal. The pastas themselves are so tasty and satisfying, I really recommend the Cheesy Chorizo and Mexican pastas. Also their desserts are really good, especially the lemon blueberry slice, and they have Vegan options. Delivery is always really quick too. Definitely one of my favourite lunch places in Cardiff.

This is the 2nd time I've been, and was looking forward to trying something different. I went for meatballs, with white pasta, cheese on top and sweetcorn and peppers. But I was a bit nervous that it hadn't been in the pan for long. Anyway, I went to tuck in and it was cold. Not luke warm, but cold. So I went back to tell them, and they rewarmed it - corn, peppers, cheese and all went in. So I ended up with soggy mush. Which didn't taste of much. Such a shame. Its a fab concept, but I'm not sure it's fool proof. And I can't see that they are washing pans properly in between, so maybe you will get some cross contamination!? Hygiene rating of 3 might explain some of this. Won't come again. Such a shame. I love pasta.

Nice good quality pasta with a very affordable price (especially for students) A small lunch meal deal can easily fill me up Breakfast Bagels are lush! They are the best thing to have as a late brunch in the Weekends. It is a daily go-to breakfast place with really nice coffee! A must try if you live nearby or study in Cardiff Uni:)
