What a great way to eat!!! It's all small, sharing type plates so you can try a wee bit of everything. Smashing negroni to wash it all down aswell. Lovely stuff.

It was too good to photograph! Absolutely amazing food- a real gem for foodies right in the middle of town. Perfect for if you’ve just got off a 4 hour train journey and want an amazing meal!!

It's a rare and wonderful thing these days to find great flavour in every course when you eat out, even in some top restaurants... so my husband and I were delighted to not just have one good dish at Lichen but 5! Small plates that pack a huge punch and are generous enough that you don't feel short changed in any way. It's not the first time we have eaten in Lichen and to be honest we thought it was just good luck the first time we ate there. But every dish delivered on both occasions have been consistently good. Cask Smugglers would not be our first choice of places to eat and we stumbled upon Lichen quite by accident. We went back hoping it would be just as good and we weren't disappointed. We were pleasantly surprised that it was just as good the second time round. We are of the opinion that the quality of food here is so high that the chef or whoever is behind this should be looking to make a name for themselves... Cannot recommend enough, 5 stars to the chef, the concept and the execution....(and trust me we are very difficult to please!....)

Couldn’t recommend this place highly enough! Easily the best flavour combinations I’ve had in Edinburgh (having lived here all my life), great portion sizes, great price, all the staff/service couldn’t be better, not to mention the fantastic atmosphere. I love the concept of sharing plates, it makes for a much more sociable eating experience. I could go on all day but bottom line is you NEED to try Lichen.

Have been to lichen a few times now and it gets better every time. Their ever changing menu really beautifully shows off local food that’s in season and the chefs really know how to put flavours together! Lovely service from the staff each time too. Very well mannered & attentive! I work locally and always recommend it for lunch or dinner :)

fantastic food and service, fresh ingredients and perfectly sizes portions. Couldn't fault it.
