Delicious meal, perfect service and a great ambiance. The restaurant was full on a Monday night. It was an anniversary celebration dinner and they wrote Happy Anniversary on our desert plates. A truly lovely meal out. Thank you

A lovely French fine dining experience with great food overall. It’s on the pricier side, but the quality and flavors make it worth it. The lamb was a standout—super tender and cooked to perfection. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented. A great spot for anyone looking to enjoy a refined dining experience, though it comes at a premium!

Been here a couple of times. The fixed menu offers really excellent value for money. You are getting quite classy, sophisticated cooking for the same price as chains such as The Ivy. On a Wednesday, you can even bring your own bottle of wine with no corkage. A real bargain. Service can be a bit formal and reserved and on a quiet night it took 2 hours to serve a 3 course meal but otherwise great.

I personally did not enjoy the food, the coq au vin was too seeped in the flavour of wine that you could not get the taste of the chicken or the correct texture. Too dragged down by the entire idea of dunking in wine. The creme brulee was ok, again I believe it lacked that punch. The pate was fabulous alongside the sour dough bread. This is what saved the meal and the waiter. Really friendly.

This was our third time coming to Le Vacherine together with mom. First two times we came for the set menu and were satisfied. This time we had à la carte. General feeling of the restaurant is warm and welcoming: attractive classic decor, clean and with the loveliest staff. Especially we were touched by professionalism and sweetness of Marianna. Now to the food. Overall it was a bit overpriced. We were very happy with the main course, cod and halibut and crème brûlée for dessert. But the scallops for appetizer were bland. The biggest disappointment was soufflé. 19£?! We ordered it anyway since it is mom’s favorite but what came… I am still in shock, sour, grainy. Just awful. Please adjust the price and taste on the soufflé. It was very disappointing. We will come back again to the restaurant but probably for the set menu.

Very poor experience This review is written with sadness as we used to be regulars and made donations to the restaurant when closed during covid. We haven't been for a while so returned tonight. Service was so slow as to be unbelievable. We ordered at 7.30, the starter arrived at 8.15 and the main course arrived at 9.15. When the main courses did arrive the dishes were unremarkable - I appreciate by then the experience may have been impacting our view on the food but that's why service matters. Only when we complained did we get any apology. Service was taken off the bill but no other genuine effort was made to say sorry. It felt like a conveyor belt and the apology not heartfelt - was blamed on "replating" but we didnt believe that. There are plenty of other choices in Chiswick now and sadly we won't be going back. To clarify on restaurant response: The comment re charity was to highlight we have been fans so no pre conceived negative view. Good to know also that we needn't have bothered so thanks The comment re apology has not changed in spirit. We only received an apology after we complained before the main course Starters were also supremely slow to be served - these had not been served to another table as far as I understand so this remains unexplained - they took 45 mins from ordering We were told the delay for the mains was as had been "replated" as if the dish had fallen on the floor- I suggest honesty would have been the best policy. Why were we not told the truth we understand mistakes happen I amended the comment about the impact of service on the food to remain balanced as was trying to be as forgiving as possible Of course in time we may have come back - equally given the aggeessive tone of your response we are clearly not welcome so we won't Last comment - this a hospitality business - I see there have been equally aggressive responses to others querying quality of service. You may wish to think about this Best regards

Le Vacherin is a beautiful and elegant restaurant that offers an exceptional experience. From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the refined atmosphere. The service was equally outstanding; Claire, our waitress, was pleasant, polite, and very accommodating, making us feel welcome throughout the meal. For the main course, I ordered the Longhorn beef, which was cooked to perfection and came off the bone effortlessly. I have always wanted to try escargot and I was definitely not disappointed it became another highlight of the meal—delicious and full of flavor. To start, I had the soup, which was rich, comforting, and absolutely delicious. For desert, Frangipani tart had a lovely crunch base with Mascarpone. Overall, my experience at Le Vacherin was fantastic, and I will most definitely return. This French restaurant has quickly become my favorite, and I look forward to bringing my friends to share in this wonderful dining experience.

Used a Groupon voucher and paid the £10 surcharge to dine in on a Friday night. Once other diners arrived (we were the first ones there at 7pm!) the atmosphere was nice. Staff were attentive and kind. Food was generally good, twice baked cheese soufflé was worth the surcharge. Groupon came with one glass of Prosecco each. We paid the surcharge for the ‘bread basket’ which consisted of four little baguette slices and anchovy butter which wasn’t to our taste - the server kindly brought us some ordinary salted butter. Portion sizes of our dishes were fairly reasonable. A nice evening out in Chiswick. There were still a few additional charges but generally we paid what we expected to.

We had a great night. There are quirks as well as gems in this place, but it’s all character and we really enjoyed it. We went for the ‘Opentable’ set menu through The Fork which advertised: “This preset menu includes: Amuse-bouche du jour + Les hors d'ceuvres + Les plats princjpaux + Made for sharing + Side dishes + Bread basket + Pre dessert de la maison + Les desserts and drinks.” You may be forgiven for thinking that all of the above would be ‘included’ for the set price of £45, but yes that would be far to good to be true. Included in the price is 5 courses; Amuse-bouche du jour, Hors d’œuvres, Plats Principaux, 1 bread basket (2 small slices of baguette each with plentiful anchovy butter), Pre desert de La maison, Le deserts, and one glass of Cremant each. All of the sides carry an extra charge, as do all of the ‘Made for sharing’ dishes… Also if you need more than two small slices of baguette each, you’ll need to pay extra. Thankfully when we asked our waitress to explain the ambiguous pricing, she happily obliged. We stuck to the 5 actually included courses with one additional side between us and we did not go home hungry… although a little more bread in the basket would have felt less stingy, and hugely useful for soaking up every last delicious drop of our Amuse-bouche; the most amazingly tasty cup full of mushroom soup. The anchovy butter accompanying the bread transported me to the fishing harbours of Boulogne. There was far more butter than our four baguette slices could take, so we kept the remains on the table just in case, and it was useful. For my hors d’œuvre I ordered the Yellowfin tuna tartare, avocado purée, tomato & basil concassé with sesame wafer. It was fresh and uplifting to begin with, but by the third spoonful I was missing something. The tuna and the avocado needed a little more acid. Neither the tomato nor the basil were quite enough to give it the punch it needed. Maybe some capers would have done it. As nice as it was to eat, it was just… ‘nice’. I did finish it and I didn’t complain because it was good quality food, and very healthy too, but it was bland. There was also a 20min wait for food when we arrived so I was pretty hungry. I was treated by my dining partner to a taste of her Twice-baked St. Maure de Touraine cheese soufflé, with beetroot sorbet which was out of this world. It was the comfort we were looking for on a cold winter evening. I was considering requesting it in place of my desert and had major food envy. Well worth the supplement! Next were the principaux as well as the side of ‘sautéed spinach’ to share. Both mains were perfectly cooked. The spinach however didn’t appear to be sautéed. It appeared more wilted. Obviously this was not a dealbreaker by any means and it is where our saved anchovy butter came in handy. I went for the Selection of Artisanal cheeses, red onion chutney & cheese biscuits, 4pcs. When only three pieces of cheese arrived, I did ask for the fourth as advertised, and any extra if they were feeling generous. I received five pieces which felt more appropriate for the £9.50 supplement. Unfortunately neither my partner nor I could agree with the red onion chutney. She likened it to cigarette ash. It reminded me of the liquid in my waste food caddy, not that we consume either very often.. We chose not to offend the cheeses with it and left well alone. I rationed the five Carrs water biscuits to last as long as possible across my now five pieces of cheese. The service was warm and friendly, and the restaurant busier than expected. It was a little unusual to not wait at the counter by the door to be seated, but having read previous reviews mentioning this, we knew to seek the assistance of the busy floor staff, who found us a table right away. Would be go back? Yes please! (If they’ll still have us)…

Even though I live at the other side of London, I love going to Le Vacherin for the regular dishes and the special dinners. I had the Truffle dinner with several friends who also adore truffles. Initially we were shown a fragrant array of raw truffles to be used for our dinner - the aroma stayed with us after the truffles went back to the Kitchen The amuse bouche was a lovely small cup of mushroom soup with a thick texture, topped with a generous layer of black truffle. Very good start! The course of ceviche of Norwegian Halibut was disappointing - a very soft, slimy row of long fillets with insufficient sauce - not what should be done to this firm, delightful fish My companions liked it. The highlight was a perfectly cooked generous beef fillet crowned with foie gras, on a bed of kale. Matched with a Croatian red wine it was worth being there for that one dish. Good value especially when compared with other similar events in central London.

MORE AT OpenTable

Ah, the tantalising allure of French gastronomy—a symphony of refined taste and exquisite service. It is a world with which I am intimately acquainted, having been raised amidst the culinary artistry of my father, a chef trained in the hallowed kitchens of Paris and later crowned head chef of a prestigious London hotel. Dining out, for me, is not merely a meal but a ritual, a celebration of life’s finer pleasures. With this in mind, I revisited Le Vacherin, a venue I had previously regarded as a paragon of French dining, albeit with expectations tempered by the wisdom that even the brightest stars can falter. My first visit, a serene Sunday luncheon orchestrated by the ever-capable Marco and an attentive waitress, had been an affair of unblemished excellence. The Sunday roast was sublime, the service impeccable—a harmonious dance of taste and timing. How different, then, was this latest experience, where the gilded promise of the past was tarnished by indifference and ineptitude. I had secured a table for four at 15.45 PM, booking online with the expectation of another memorable meal. We arrived punctually and were seated with efficiency, but the absence of Marco cast a shadow over the proceedings. In his stead was a manageress whose approach to hospitality lacked the finesse and warmth that Marco so effortlessly embodied. Our first hurdle came with the menus. The Sunday roast menu, for which we had specifically come, was not initially offered; only the à la carte menu was presented. Upon request, the Sunday menu was reluctantly provided, only for the manageress to inform us, minutes later, that the roast was “sold out.” A disappointment, to be sure, but worse was to follow. When the manageress returned to take our orders, she paused mid-sentence to announce, with all the charm of an officious bureaucrat, that the restaurant would close at 1645 PM, and we must vacate by 17.15 PM, without the possibility of dessert. The brusqueness of her tone, coupled with the absurdity of the proclamation, left us bewildered. How strange, for during our previous visit at a similar hour, Marco had facilitated a leisurely three-course meal without so much as a raised eyebrow. The three desserts in any event did not require any chef to prepare. What made this decree all the more galling was the lack of forewarning. The booking platform made no mention of such time constraints, and we had journeyed some distance—two of our party being severely disabled—to partake in what we assumed would be an unhurried meal. Instead, we were met with an experience so rushed and inhospitable that one could scarcely believe it was the same establishment. As I glanced around the half-empty dining room, the reason for its vacancy became glaringly obvious. Without Marco’s guiding hand, the ethos of prioritising the customer and treating them with kindness has been utterly lost. Hospitality is, after all, an art, and here it has been reduced to a hollow transaction. The brilliance of Le Vacherin has dimmed, and though the culinary delights of France will always call to me, I shall not heed that call from this establishment again. To return would be to invite further disappointment, and life, as we know, is too brief for mediocrity.

We opted for a 5-course menu, all of which was superb aside from an underseasoned velouté as the amuse bouche. The mains (ox cheek and a sea bass) were really great cookery. Standout was the warm, attentive, efficient service by a great front of house team.

Not sure what was happening as there were loads of staff there but very slow service. The Melba Toast with the starter was not crisp or fresh (inedible) so I had to order a bread basket which took longer than 10 minutes. The actual meat with the roast dinner was scant - especially in comparison to the table beside me. Perhaps this is because I had a Groupon voucher & quality/ quantity / service was scaled back according? Very disappointing.

The staff was very nice and greeted us warmly. Over priced for what you can order. We ordered the 3 course prix fix. The first course was a soup that was kind of watery and very little squash flavor. The other first course was a chicken dish that was actually a kind of pate, which wasn't very well described to us or on the menu. The main entrees were a mixed review. The sea bass was good and well prepared. The pork loin was fatty and the "gravy" was tasteless. The desserts were very good. The creme brûlée was exceptional and the chocolate mousse was good too.

We went for Sunday lunch, and the set menu is a bargain. If you want roast beef on a Sunday, you can’t go wrong here, it’s excellent. We also had some very nice Maldon oysters, and the cheese soufflé is very popular. The atmosphere is upmarket casual, and it’s just a few blocks back from the main high street in Chiswick, giving it a very local neighbourhood feel.

Posh, small and a little pretentious. The place is full of regulars who live in the area. The food was good especially for a set menu. I must say that I felt a little out of place being the youngest guest that afternoon. The 2 of us were given a large table because we booked on the same day, which was a little awkward for us. The service was fast and efficient but the host didn’t not really speak to us or recommend anything.

Really lovely food with great portions, we tried both the alacarte and the fixed menu and we're happy, the wine pairing was great too. The welcome breads and homemade anchovy butter was a nice unusual start too. Only small note was the music which was a little like being in an elevator, and the lights a bit too bright for the evening! Servers were lovely and restaurant felt really nice and elevated, though - would return and recommend.

We tried their Rose Tteok-Bokki and Beef Bibimbap. The Rose Tteok-Bokki was incredible and I would highly recommend. The Bibimbap was fresh, pipping hot and moreish. Would definitely come back to try the rest of the menu!
