Very nice as always at Bistro Pierre. The food was excellent, and although the venue was busy, it was still an enjoyable evening. The breakfast was also excellent and of good quality.

Bistrot Pierre is a chain restaurant but a very good one, in my view. It was a lovely summer's evening and we sat outside. The restaurant is located in a nice spot with views of the canal. We both had the two course set menus: asparagus and butternut squash starters; camembert and steak frites mains. Good quality and very good value.

Same with Eastbourne on my previous review, it does depend on where you sit and who serves you. Everything was a bit rushed but overall service was ok, (5 wait staff came for different things, Luiza was nice ) and table too. Tried some different dishes, chicken too dry unfortunately. As previously mentioned you got to use the offers/points otherwise it'll be overpriced.

You’d think it was the first day of opening. The staff are completely and uttering clueless. The aircon is there, just not on. 31 degrees outside too. But by far the worst part is the food. It is shockingly bad. Ordered the roast and almost laughed when it turned up. Three of the smallest, undercooked potatoes you’ll ever see. Hidden under the one carrot. I stupidly ordered an extra portion for it to show up ten mins after I’d finished. I think they were toasted by candlelight. Completely white. Not one hint of roastedness. A ‘chef’ (can you really call them that?) has let this food leave the kitchen in this state. I do not know how these kind of places get away with serving utter tosh like this. We’ve both just left and had to rush home as we’re both feeling ill already.

This was the worst meal we have had in a long time. Overcooked, tough minute steaks with dried up chips. The beef bourguignon was thin served with a very small scoop of potato. We complained to the waitress but she didn't really want to know. Disgraceful.

I booked a table here for a meal with my partner , and called the restaurant twice beforehand to state that I was bringing a small dog, and was told by two separate members of staff that this was perfectly fine and it was a dog friendly establishment. Imagine my surprise then when after travelling in from Birmingham I was greeted by rude waiter at the door, who, after looking at us like we were something he had trod in, informed us that he had decided that tonight was too busy so he was not allowing dogs . Not to worry - he would make a “goodwill gesture” and we could eat in the bar instead . It is worth noting there was ONE other table seated at the time, if a tumbleweed blew across the restaurant it would not be out of place . Will never visit this chain again. Pardon me for being old fashioned but I feel that my custom should only be given where it’s valued, not classed as an inconvenience

A costly disappointment. This used to be good but our lunches were underwhelming. We had two salads as mains and this consisted mainly of salad bag leaves. One of us had confit duck which was supposed to come with celeriac and winter vegetables. There didn't seem to be any celeriac and the winter vegetables was a mere leaf of curly kale. We will not be returning.

Bistrot Pierre Stratford-upon-Avon was our go-to restaurant in Stratford for many years. A year or so ago we had a poor meal with dreadful service and a hostile attitude from the young French manageress. We gave them another go at a Soiree Gastronomique - another poor meal. Ever forgiving we went back last week and had another poor meal. There were only three other tables occupied and it was freezing cold in the restaurant. No atmosphere whatsoever. I won't go through all the food, just the main courses. The chicken chasseur was an extremely dry, overcooked piece of chicken sitting on top of a nondescript sauce. Surely the chicken should have been cooked in the sauce to keep it moist. The burger was stone cold; the only reason we didn't send it back was that one of us would have finished the chicken chasseur before the burger was returned. We would have eaten our main courses separately. A once good restaurant has now failed us three times. Senior management need to have a long hard look at the running of this restaurant. We will never find out whether improvements have been made. We will not be going back.

What can you say it was a hot day, a Saturday and in Stratford upon Avon so we were expecting it to be busy. Fist off we moved tables because we were not SD from the next table, we waited 30 minutes for our drinks and in fact we went to the bar in the end to pick them up. Our first course, the mushrooms were cool and we did advise the waitress of this. The remainder of our food and service was just fine, probably because the restaurant was emptying out a little and things looked a little easier. The food quality itself is good and the value is excellent, the staff were working hard in fact were seen to be almost running at some points. My advice is don’t book prime times at weekends

As usual the menu was well thought out and extremely good. Visited this restaurant on the 24th April, the weather was beautiful, so was nice to sit outside and enjoy the sunshine. This was short lived, when queuing traffic to the junction and the car parks took away any possibility of clean air. Our starters arrived promptly and was lovely, we were then waiting about 30 minutes for our mains, and the waitress came to ask if we wanted to order puddings, we hadnt even had our mains!!! The mains were pretty poor, and the burger was so dry and over cooked. My main meal was spoilt as I had bird poo land on me as I was eating, so somewhat put me off the food. Pudding was also pretty average, and nothing to shout about. Bits off the over hanging trees also continued to drop on food and drinks throughout our visit. You could hear other tables moaning about it to. Its a shame, as I really like Bistro Pierre and regularly visit other restaurants, and have always been pleased with the service and food. But not sure I would return to this one. There is a lot of choice in Stratford and Bistro need to up their game.

Prior to arriving the restaurant called to check if we still wanted to come as it was very wet. We decided to proceed and were given a table which was under umbrellas and was dry. It was very good of them to stay open as they only had about 4 tables the whole night. The service was excellent and the food turned around quickly and was piping hot. I quality of food, especially the steak and prawns is always excellent. Highly recommended and we will be back often as we have a lot of work projects in the area.

We arranged a meal with friends for Saturday evening and was so looking forward to it as we love this restaurant and try to visit everywhere we stay if they have one.The table we were shown to was very close to the next table (my husbands back was almost touching the elbow of the man on the next table) we had to move the table. It was packed in the restaurant. So disappointed when the food came. I had the chicken which was ok but the presentation was so poor. The mashed potatoes were just splodged on the plate and just sat in a pool of watery sauce. Usually the vegetables come separately and are nicely presented. The same for all the other dishes that were ordered. We have had many a fabulous meal at various BP’s. This has to come bottom of the list.

I had red onion and gruyere tart and hubby had chicken forestiere - both meals were delicious and the service was good too. We had a pleasant surprise when we found our bill was reduced by £20 as the restaurant was extending "eat out to help out" through September. I booked a table here on recommendations of friends and family however I wouldn’t recommend to anyone. We had booked a table for an early meal. The restaurant was empty when we arrived but we were sat right under the bar, the closest table to where the staff lean, you would think this would mean excellent service...how wrong we were!We waited tens minutes whilst the staff chatted amongst themselves, when we finally caught an eye we managed to order drinks. Glasses were then placed on the table with the waitress holding the rim of the glasses. We had to point out that this isn’t hygienic in the best of times; hold the side of a glass. We ordered Humous and pitta as a starter, the humous was generous, the pitta not so much. There were 4 tiny triangles that weren’t toasted but warmed. There wasn’t even one full pitta bread. It was poor. The butter that went with the bread was curdled. The main courses were equally disappointing, the duck salad had about 5 tiny pieces of duck which was a shame because the salad was nice but without the duck to cut through the vinegary taste it was a poor effort. My friend ate a cheese and onion tart, again the taste was really underwhelming - she never did find the onion. We waited all through the evening for service, I understand minimum contact with customers in the current climate but this lot were stood in the corner of the bar chatting the whole time. As we left we turned to say thanks...but again they didn’t notice us as they had backs to the restaurant and were chatting...which really summed up the visit.Overall the service was poor, we really did get in their way of a chat, the food was really disappointing, it seems that as part of extending the Eat out deal they have made portions small and of a poor standard. I know from friends they like this place so maybe it was just a bad night but I wouldn’t return.

Great place, and amazing food, & nice service on the whole, but so confused as to why the waitresses were ignoring their phone which was ringing for nearly a quarter of an hour right next to our table. Eventually, my patience gave way (sorry!) and I got a ripple of applause from another table of customers when I tried to hang it up myself. The phone needs to be moved away from the restaurant into a back office where it can be ignored to their hearts content without it stressing out their customers. Alternatively, somebody could just answer it. It may have been a repeat nuisance or aggressive customer ringing & perhaps there was a good reason for ignoring it that I'm not aware of. If so, the phone probably still needs to be moved out of the main restaurant.A pity that the winning formula of Bistrot Pierre can be spoilt by something that can be so easily sorted.

I would struggle giving less than 5 Stars.... times have changed..2 years ago, started using the Leamington branch as serviced had changed and the atmosphere had gone....Tried again today, to A. Support a company we like but B. To enjoy a post lockdown meal....Goats cheese sat on a bed of dried up lettuce, radish sized beetroot, which also looked dry too.Beef Bourguignon.... well.... mashed potatoe was wetter and tasteless. Instant mash would have been nicer.... the beef certainly wasn't cooked with the sauce it was served with, as the menu suggests... the sauce.... well a trip to cookery school is required... it was more like a burnt beef jam.....If we had been paying full price, would have kicked off massively, Dine in to help out was the only reason we didn't complain

The restaurant is a french themed bistro chain, so offers a typical range of french type standards, fine for a quick lunch or last minute stop off. We hadn't planned to visit but came here because another booking fell through and it was the only thing available in Stratford at short notice.Lilia our server was lovely, very helpful and concerned when she noticed that my daughter didn't finish her starter. The food was good, the chicken main with mash was good and nicely plated and the Bavette steak and frite were generous portions and looked nicely cooked. As a family of five with three adults we all had starters a bottle of wine, mains and the children had three course meal deals and it all came in at just over a hundred pounds, (without service) so at twenty pounds a head you are getting good value for your money, Thursday evening so not part of eat out to help out.If you're worried about covid the staff are all wearing face visors and have a one way system in operation, lots of sanitizer etc.

Let me say at the outset that I have eaten here before and enjoyed it very much and that I fully appreciate that it is difficult following a period of lockdown but tonight it was so disappointing. Where do I start? As an older person for me to trust a restaurant and eat out is a big step. I know that wearing face masks or faceshields is not mandatory but if you do wear them please don't have them on your heads like caps! It was a reduced menu and I get that. The starters were ok but the main course included mash that tasted like microwaved. No separate tray of veggies as normal and the french bread sliced very finely and alas no longer the lovely french butter. Sadly very disappointed and it will be a long time before I return

Service was fairly slow, place was near-empty potentially due to covid. Ordered Boef Bourguignon as menu listed this as their signature dish for past 25 years. Beef was OK, cooked tender but had an odd flavour. Gravy very starchy and had a prep mix taste which strongly conflicted with the cheap wed wine notes. Penetrating persistant old garlic aroma.I don't like complaining in restaurants but I did point out that orange juice from concentrate should not be listed as "fresh orange juice". The waitress assumed I wanted a refund but this was not my main intention. She indicated that she would let the chef know, I am not certain how he could have missed it since someone will have been pouring the juice from the carton. Service was very friendly, did not want to penalise the good service and paid tip on original amount.

1We were staying at the adjoining hotel, The Swans Nest.We had booked a table in the bistro for dinner at 7.30pm, terrible service from the moment we sat down. Shown to a table then ignored us, no one asked if we wanted drinks, other people were seated after us,were brought bread & jugs of iced water,we just sat & waited. After about 15 mins a miserable waitress came & took our order, then returned & plonked some bread on the table, no water offered.no rump steak left so opted for the steak-frites, tasted awful & had an odd smell to it, meat very sinewy & greasy french fries ,I left most of mine could not eat it. Husband ordered a draught beer, they brought a bottled beer,I asked for rhubarb gin & tonic, no rhubarb gin left. No rump, no draught beer,no gin,& it was only 7.30pm . Didnt bother with desert ,finished with a Baileys coffee, drank it in one as it was cold.Staffs excuse was that 'it had been busy'. Breakfast was nice, booked a table for 8am . Seated straight away, tea brought out & breakfast followed. Excellent eggs benedict & husband enjoyed the full english. Would have welcomed another pot of tea but didnt get asked if wanted anything more.

Stayed at the Swans Nest for my Dads 60th Birthday Celebrations and ate here for dinner and also breakfast that was included in the hotel price. Dinner experience was actually very good. The food was tasty, there was x5 of us, x2 had the the minute steak, i had the half roast chicken, x1 had the chicken in creamy sauce and then x1 had the fishcakes - great feedback about the dishes and we had a few drinks too and cocktails which were great! Service was fine aswell. The let down for me was breakfast - first time staying in a hotel since lockdown and i am a frequent traveller and expect a certain level of breakfast but what i had was a childs portion. I asked if they served any veggie sausages and they said no (really guys come on thats quite basic these days!) so i opted for scrambled eggs. x2 of us had the english breakfast and in comparison to my scrambled eggs and my fiances omelette you needed a crane to serve theirs. It was embaressing, id consider it a snack and i was seriously hungover after celebrating with family the night before i was still starving afterwards. Bit of a let down but was OK nonetheless! Restaurant in general I have to say was also a bit grubby, wet floors, leaves and dead flies hanging around needed a bit of a tidy.

My husband and I had our breakfasts here and cocktails on a short break to Stratford Upon Avon. Food was very delicious and the atmosphere and staff were excellent. We felt comfortable and safe bearing in mind these pandemic times. Will definitely return to this chain of lovely french food again!

We were staying in the hotel and visited the restaurant for dinner / breakfast. Our meals for breakfast were especially good, although the coffee was not! Service was lovely and friendly but it was on the slow side, especially considering how empty the restaurant was. Overall, the food here is very nice and I would recommend visiting, as long as you’re not in a rush

We visited for lunch as part of the ‘Eat out to Help out’ scheme. The family we were meeting had eaten here a few weeks ago and had had a good experience. The reviews were good, although looking back now I see that many of those were for the breakfast. Unfortunately our experience was rather different. Firstly, it was packed. There is no way that the table behind us was 2 metres away, as there was barely room for the waitress to squeeze through. Talking of the waitress, I think we would have been better to have had one of those Japanese robot waitresses. She never managed to smile, despite attempts by us to jolly up the atmosphere a little. We were, after all, meeting family we hadn’t seen for some time, so wanted it to be a pleasant experience. The only time we saw any atmosphere in the place was when a different waitress served our dessert and was suitably polite and friendly. If only we’d had her throughout. Our waitress kept her head down whenever she came out of the kitchen, trying to make sure none of those annoying customers could get her attention for anything.Unfortunately we had two dirty glasses - the first one had a wrapper from the salt and pepper sachets stuck to the inside of the glass, having been washed like that, and hardly difficult to notice! When we pointed it out to the waitress she just took it without a word and plonked a new one down. No smile. The second glass just looked grubby and had lipstick stains, which is never ideal, and certainly not in times of COVID. We didn’t bother complaining as we didn’t want another sigh from our waitress, so we just used an empty glass from a previous soft drink. The food was mediocre, the white wine was warm. The place was suffocatingly hot, which I had hoped it wouldn’t be as it had air conditioning, but whether because of COVID or just as part of a money saving scheme it wasn’t switched on. I ate a fairly tasty goats cheese starter followed by risotto, which was al dente (an interesting experience, never had it al denté before!) and sorbet. My brother had ordered the chicken with asparagus, because he’d had it on his previous visit and enjoyed it, but the asparagus had turned miraculously into a mushroom this time. He didn’t bother saying anything, as we didn’t want the waitress of gloom to come over again. Overall the food was on the low end of adequate, the sort of thing you’d get in a bog standard chain pub not known for its food! Just to be clear, we are not ‘complainers’ - we wanted to enjoy ourselves so tried to make light of the problems. But this really fell short of expectations. I’m afraid it will be the last visit for any of us. There are many places to eat in Stratford, and while this was cheap because of the government scheme on top of the low fixed price menu, even that would not be enough to tempt me back. I don’t know how people have reviewed this as feeling safe in COVID times. I certainly did not feel that way. The density of occupancy alone would mean that even if the food and drink were free I would not return.

Nice place to eat, bit expensive for drinks. Tables not cleaned properly as very sticky. A bit more outdoor lighting would be nice.

Booked a table for 4 at 17:30 to get the 3 course Prix Fixe menus @£14.95 a head. One bottle of cuvee 94 red, drinks for the kids came to £54 total with HM Gov paying £36 with the Eat Out to Help Out scheme. Not only was it cheap but the steak was just the best, beautifully cooked (pink) and with a superb sauce. All three courses were superb. The service was excellent. It’s a no-brainer to dine here. Thanks BP!

My Partner and I ate here on Saturday 1st August, so still under the Covid-19 restrictions and the only reservation we could get was for 17:00 as we only booked that day, but not a problem. The staff at Bistrot Pierre were fantastic, we arrived 30mins prior to our booking and just enquired on the off chance that we could maybe grab a drink before our table was ready."Of course! No problem...Let me show you to your table!" was the very friendly waitress' reply :) Once seated we were given menus and drinks orders taken, which then arrived speedily and our food order taken...When I asked the Waitress the size of the Steak on the Steak Frites she very helpfully went and asked the Kitchen to weigh one!So, deciding that 250g of Bavette (one of my favourite cuts) cooked rare was just the ticket for dindins and I was not disappointed, it was EPIC....Even better than I have experienced in France. My Partner had the Poulet Roti Forestière which was also excellent.A few drinks (G'n'T & Leffe Blonde) and a Tart au Citron completed our dinner by which time the restaurant was filling up quite quickly. All of that came in at less than £60 for the both of us, albeit a fair whack of the cost was booze, so very reasonably priced for excellent food, cooked perfectly and delivered by wonderfully brilliant staff. If I had a forelock, I'd tug it in appreciation to you Bistrot Pierre Stratford Upon Avon.

We were staying at The Swan’s Nest & took up the breakfast in Bistro Pierre option. Despite being very busy on the Sat morning the whole experience, food, staff, adherence to all COVID restrictions was great. Mushrooms on sourdough with a fab rich sauce ..delicious! We also dined there on one of the nights & that too was superb. I had the pork medallions & my daughter a chicken dish. This food is definitely a level above normal “ chain” restaurants.Have to mention Kyle, front of house. What a lovely guy, just what you need in a good restaurant!

Ate here with my husband when we came 4 years ago and had a gorgeous meal. We returned with our children and all had another great meal! Surprising it’s a chain with such good food. The Goats Cheese starter was a particular favourite! Very lovely sitting outside overlooking the water too. Staff so nice. Service a little slow but with the atmosphere, great food and drinks and friendly staff, it’s not really an issue. Will be back when we’re in town!

This was always one of our fave chains and we hope it has not been too ravaged by the Rona. We came for lunch on Sunday after a stroll by the river. The menu has been reduced - as we expected in the current climate - there were no roast dinners and the french flatbread (which I love) have gone. However, the food was lovely as always, the service friendly, and it was great value. Very glad you are back.

We had breakfast here as we were staying at the Swan's Nest and also enjoyed an evening meal here as part of our first post lockdown break. Its a nice bright restaurant which has large windows and a terrace that overlooks the river. The food was surprisingly good the service was exceptional. The restaurant was always busy and had plenty of atmosphere. The waiting staff were all happy and friendly and could be seen constantly cleaning surfaces when they were not serving. My wife was nervous about eating out but the restaurant felt safe with high standards of hygiene.

Staying at the Swans Nest for the first time this year. Breakfast was included in the room rate and we had dinner in the restaurant on Monday evening. The meal, as ever, was really well cooked, the wine was good and the service excellent. There was no buffet cold option at breakfast but the menu listed all of the breakfast items available and these were delivered to the table, on both mornings with a pleasant smile and excellent service. Although the lockdown rules were followed in the restaurant, the professionalism of the staff ensured that those rules did not adversely affect the experience in any way. Well done to you all and will definitely visit you again soon.

We decided we would try here for breakfast...we have eaten out elsewhere since we were allowed. We booked on line, arrived 5 mins early. Eventually a lady came over, checked our booking - went to get menus but didn’t return. Another lady then got us seated. Unfortunately the table we were placed at was no where near 2 metres from the next table as we were talking to the people on that table. We asked if we could move to the next table, the waitress said ok. She then cleaned the tables while muttering under her breath ‘so you don’t think that’s 2 metres’ Wasn’t impressed with that, miserable waitress! It def wasn’t 2 meters. Eventually we got a menu and ordered, tbh very mediocre breakfast, slow service & they got the bill wrong. The only good thing was the young waitress that bought our food, very helpful and cheerful.

Having not eaten out for four months since the Covid-19 lockdown began, we came to Stratford-upon-Avon, and with some trepidation asked at Bistrot Pierre if we could eat outside (no one else was eating outside). No problem; our contact details were taken, temperature taken and we were shown to an outside table overlooking the river. As with most places at the moment, the menu is slightly more limited than normal, but the food was of as high a standard as ever (we have dined here on numerous occasions over the years). Our young Romanian waitress was charming and very efficient. All possible measures had been taken to ensure Covid-19 safety, except of course the waiting staff do have to approach fairly close to deliver food, but as that is only for a short time and we were outside, we were not worried. The value for money is exceptional. We will be back very soon.

We booked a table for 6 here for a family birthday, we've eaten here before and knew what to expect. Some highlights:Beef Bourguignon always exceptional, rich, large pieces of tender beef, delicious.Duck breast was wolfed down.My mother claimed she had the best Creme Brulee she ever had.Chicken liver parfait, soft and could be homemade, though I'm sure it wasn't.The service was spot on, not over zealous, nor too slow.A special mention for the ham on the cold platter at breakfast, as far from the shiny, pressed, reformed nonsens sometimes served as is possible. It was dry, properly cut from a joint, no unnecessary flavouring, just superb, flavoursome ham. This really was far, far better ham than they need to produce. The black pudding is also very good.

Having enjoyed eating here on several occasions we were appalled at the unprofessional service and long wait . The Bistro was less than 20% full at 8pm . We had to wait 20/25 minutes for our wine which was wrong when it arrived and my wife had another 10 minutes wait for hers . 3 times we requested water which eventually arrived after we had finished our main course . The young staff seemed happy to stand chatting after each request and were very unattentive . The food was just okay . Needless to say we do not recommend eating here and will not return .

We stayed at the Swans Nest and a 3 course dinner and breakfast which was included in our Wowcher overnight stay. This was excellent value for money.Dinner. A fair choice from the all inclusive menu, a limited version of the full evening menu.I opted for:Fritot Du Brie: 3 pieces of Brie, good potion and very nice.Bread basket and French butter served also.Boef Bourguinon: Huge portion, delicious!with a Side of creamed spinach.Valrhona chocolate mousse: 5 stars!Katie who served us must be mentioned, she was very friendly, attentive and welcoming.Cocktail pictured is the Kir Royale - recommended.Breakfast. Fruit, yoghurt, bread, pastries, cheese and ham on the buffet. A choice of hot cooked to order breakfasts. Lost 1 point here for not having salmon as on the menu - disappointing.I had the toasted brioche poached egg, bacon instead of salmon, mushrooms and grilled tomato.Julia who served us was very friendly, helpful and welcoming.I would recommend and return.

We had a very lovely meal and the service was excellent. The poor staff had literally just been told this restaurant is closing in two weeks and they were devastated. (We walked in as the meeting was finishing). Despite this we had the most lovely meal and the staff could not have been nicer. Very sad to learn these restaurants are closing. Our local one closed hence we had to find this one to use a gift voucher. I’ve never had a bad experience in Cafe Rouge. Will be very sad to see them go.
