Lal haveli restaurant Walsall in Walsall

I have visited this restaurant five times since my last review, with male friends, with my son twice and twice with my wife. The Signature dishes and the desi dishes never fail to impress. I have had a different dish each time and always choose either mutton or chicken on the bone. If you are not into properly prepared Bangladesh food then this may not be for you. I read with much amusement some of the poor reviews, clearly the authors are well suited to the coloured slops served by many “English Ready” Indian restaurants where choice might as well just be the colour. Watch Abul’s you tube channel and understand how real South Asian food is prepared… I’ll be back again after my holidays 😍

Food superb and staff great. Catering mainly for South Asian community but equally welcoming to informed foodies. The guys here are pleasant and the food a different level than standard Indian restaurants that mainly twist the food to suit a western palate. Here you can expect to experience real South Asian delights served with no nonsense. I shall be going again! Important to be respectful towards fasting during Ramadan and leave alcohol at home.

Ordered food, took a while to come. I had same as always have because I know I like it . Chicken mushroom balti. The dish was do salty in flavour it was unedible I did mention this to staff but was told that how it is . Ordered dessert but only few options available I wont be returning

Family came to visit - it was unanimously decided that we dine out for the evening. We wanted to remain in Walsall, something within the locality that was open until late - no burger joint but, a decent curry. Having searched google this restaurant came up with good reviews and wasn’t too far from home - Bingo! Apparently, this restaurant’s food was cooked by a renowned TV Chef (never heard of him before!) EXCITED! Upon entering the restaurant we were greeted by an eager waiter who was keen to seat my family and I immediately. I noticed the restaurant was empty - we were the only people out to dine that night. I was starving! The waiter handed out the menu’s, and stood by our table for our attention. So we decided to order the standard chicken karahi, lamb bhuna and daal tarka accompanying roti, naan and rice. We waited for the food to arrive patiently… We were left waiting for about 20 minutes before we gained the attention of the waiter. Food was being prepared from fresh we were told. So we decided to order popadoms with the standard dips. Even the popadoms took an eternity to get to our our table for us to devour. The popadoms had been eaten as we continued to wait, gaining the attention of the waiter - we asked what the hold up was. We were told that the food was being prepared and cooked from fresh and would be some time yet. We were a good one hour and thirty minutes in… still waiting… Food finally arrived around two and a half hours of waiting patiently. Once the food arrived, it didn’t look appealing or appetising at all! Digging into the lamb bhuna it was evident that the meat served was certainly NOT lamb but, mutton. The chicken karahi was well presented however, once I served myself - I noticed that some of the chicken was cooked from earlier chicken tikka style, disgusting! The tarka daal was worse for it had clearly been burnt whilst being cooked. The naan and roti were cooked well in advance and the rice needed longer on the stove. All in all, the food was deplorable!!! We didn’t have the heart to complain for the waiter who attended us was constantly at our beck and call - bless him… I award him the 2 points for his undivided attention to us. We finished our meal as we had to pay for it regardless and despite our awful experience. I’m not going to visit this place again TV Chef or not - with all due respect this place is totally unsatisfactory and lacking on everything. Lighting was very dim, music was a mish mash of old and new Bollywood romantic songs (inappropriate for a family with young children) Decor was okayish could have done with a good clean though as a whole.

Service was quick (20 mins for food to come out). I am more accustomed to desi pub mixed grills and those sort of portions. We had the grill tawa. The meat did not taste grilled and the chicken tasted reheated. The chicken pieces tasted more like they were fried. Its a shame that really good premises and service from excellent staff let down by poor food. The place only needs a really good chef.

Me and my husband dined here, they certainly adhere to social distancing and there was gaps between tables, sanitizer available on door, waiters were sanitizing tables as people left. Dined on the eat in to help out half price deal on a monday evening. The service was brilliant, all done within 1 hour.6.20pm order taken 6.28pm plates n salad arrived6.41pm Food arrived and we left at 7.20pm..we ordered grill tawa, sheesh kebabs were tasty, instead of keema bhoona we had ch jalfresi which was cooked well, the ch tandoori leg and wings didn't really taste like they were grilled, more like fried which was a shame would have preferred for them to have a tandoori charcoal taste, chips were crispy but tasty, naan- only 4 thin pieces would have preferred extra 2-3 slices of naan... good for a 1st time experience but wasnt worth £28 at full price, glad I paid £15, would have hesitated to pay anymore..as it was for 2 people, so we got 1 lamb chop which was dry , 1 sheesh kebab, 1 ch leg with thigh, I ch wing, I fish pokora.. each.. it was ok.. but I wouldnt return..the service and staff were very good, however the quality of food quality wasnt to my liking..would have 2 star based on quality of food but giving it 3 stars as staff were great and very efficient, credit goes to them

Disgusting service i had to walk out travelled 30 mins to come to this restaurant. I asked the waiter what sauce does the lamb shank have he goes it has cream i tried finding out more so he went to ask an elderly waiter who was rude and arrogant disgusting no customer service what so ever. avoid this poxy low graded restaurant!!!!!

After a long day out, needed a munch The food was great Service great Price ok Parking great Atmosphere great They even do hall hire upstairs and downstairs

Was lovely evening meal out with the family, we ordered the desk grillAnd the info Chinese food- it was delicious- the kids liked it as well as the adults. Would recommend it to everyone. Customer services was good too and no one hovers waiting for you to leave

it has been recently refurbed inside nice asian modern decor. The food was really nice especially the Chinese tawa. The service was brilliant, the only issue I had was they didn’t have any j20s left.

Had an wonderful meal at Lal Haweli Restaurant in Walsall . They have now started grill food. My so has been asking for steak for sometime . He is quite particular with his food and not an easy diner to be pleased. I am not a fan of steak sonI was waiting for his response. It was pleasing to see that he likes the dishes and quality of the steaks. It is a bit of a travel for us so I had to persuade. Great thinking behind dishes and decorations : quality was in every bites : hope they will shine soon if they can maintain this.The desert was superb too .

Well well well, after so many good reviews I had to check this out for my self, what great service from the waitress First of all Sharna and what great Mojitos. We had chicken steak and sirloin, to taste excellent with great presentation, everything came out hot and ready to eat. To top it all off we ordered the tawa, a massive portion of barbecue chicken and meats, with two curries rice and Naan bread, excellent taste

Me and my friend went there with our family on a Sunday evening. The environment was quite good. We tried both Indo-Chinese and Desi Tawa. Desi Tawa was quite average but Indo-Chinese was very good. Amount was quite generous as well. Their service was also good but they need to reduce their price a little bit.

Arranged my little ones first birthday there under the big marquee. Manager allowed full flexibility and helped to decorate the hall as we wanted make it really a memorable event. Price was reasonable and food quality was nice too. Will recommend to all especially for events. Also hired a bouncy castle that fitted well in the corner and kids really enjoyed playing around.

I went to eat there tonight with my friend, it was really quiet which is surprising considering it is Friday night but to be fair weather was quite off putting.Food wise there was a lot variety however taste wise we werent impressed, I think tonight’s chef wasDifferent because last time we went everything was really delicious.Waiter was very attentive bless him and helpful and I guess it actually quite good for what what you pay.

My full review is on the other listing for Lal Haveli, but needless to say, I love this place >:-) Staff, food, prices and environment can't beaten. Really don't know why this place isn't full, it's a bargain.

BRILLIANT STAFF, tasty😋food. Just had a lovely time. Stress free birthday party. Staff were very helpful, friendly. Manager very professional and had excellent customer service. Thank you.

I have to admit I thought this place would be average. I was wrong as this is a great place to eat, the staff are fantastic and the punjabi tea is outstanding. The wedding hall is a great hall. Go here, they are so welcome!

Visitamos el restaurante por primera vez. Este lugar es increíble! Suite banguet catering para bodas y eventos, así como una cena en el restaurante. Excelente idea! La comida se sirve estilo buffet. Variedad de elección para todos! Probé casi todo y debo decir que me sorprendió todo sabía tan bueno y fresco aunque era buffet.! Bien hecho chicos. Sigan así..

No tengo ni idea de por qué hay tantos malos comentarios de aquí, he estado allí muchas veces y nunca tuvimos una mala comida. Las porciones son muy generosas y son muy buena relación calidad-precio. El personal es muy acogedor y amable, nada es demasiado problema para ellos.
