La Lavella in Merton

When I went here with my friends the lady who took our order forgot to send it to the kitchen. So my friends and I were sitting like lemons waiting for our food for nearly half an hour before this came to light.

The place was warm and inviting, very friendly staff. Food was excellent, cannot fault anything here at all.

Please avoid if you are vegetarian! I ordered the vegetarian breakfast and asked to make sure it would be cooked away from bacon etc only to be told it all cooked on one griddle! I said what’s the point saying it’s vegetarian if it’s cooked with all meats and the lady just laughed like well what do you expect. The lady was very rude will not be returning

Poor quality food. Previously frequented this cafe, but maybe it's under new management?? Chips ordered were decent but I wanted a toasted sandwich which came about 7 mins after my daughter's food. This was pale, dry and tastless. There was no spread in it and had hardly been toasted. It's a shame.

AVOID - This eatery is dirty. Needs a good steam clean from top to bottom. The floor is dirty. The tables and chairs are stained, old and dirty as well as the counter area where orders are placed. Dust is everywhere. Some of the doors are kept opened so all the mess from outside gets blown in but the place isn’t kept clean. The ladies bathroom is in a complete state of disrepair with mould on the wall. If you touch the loo roll, the holder immediately drops onto the dirty floor because it is hanging by a thread. There’s some sticky mess in the corner that looks like rubber or something. It’s there to obviously block something??? In addition, the staff needs to be sent to charm school. Customer service is appalling. I’ve sent some photos to Environmental Health to review. Sooner or later, someone might die of salmonella or other types of food poisoning. Unbelievable!!!

AVOID- Place is dirty and grubby. Needs a good clean. Female toilet is in a complete state of disrepair. Cutlery is dirty and unhygienic. Staff have a bad attitude; lacking customer service. I have sent some photos to Environmental Health before someone gets food poisoning.

I had ordered Turkish coffees and Turkish chicken shish kebab. The coffee was great, but when the meal arrived the bread was covered with ants. Not one or two ants it was crawling with ants. I still paid for my meal but will not be back.

We pass by this restaurant every night, we are proud that it is always open late.

Absolutely disgusted by the quality of the food here!! Ordered a mix shish and it came on a small plate with TINY little meat and chicken pieces which were hard and had no flavour. The Adana kebab was cooked from frozen and the salad was disgusting 🤮. WHAT A BLOODY RIP OFF. PLEASE NOTE EVERYTHING IS COOKED IN THE BREAKFAST MENU WHERE THE PORK IS COOKED SO THEY NEED TO TAKE OFF THE V SIGN! AVOID THIS HORRIBLE PLACE AT ALL COSTS! 🤢 YUCK

I order food from there at least once a week. Every time is different. Once the bread is dry, next time meat portion is in half, or the salad will be old. Have no idea how they can do that surprise every time. Ordered chicken doner for £10 and get 4 bites of chicken. They're taking a piss now. Don't waste your money there.

Great place to come with children, the staff is friendly and very considerate. The lady kindly played children songs while my child and me were eating, also some other kids were there and all the moms had the opportunity to eat in a calmer environment. I am extremely grateful. I will come back next week for sure.

Everything sucks, I asked for iced coffee with ice cream, that's what they gave me, not even ice in it.

Ordered a large cappuccino for £2.50 before going to the toilet. On return was given a small. As I sat by the table, I told this middle aged waitress in a black tshirt that I ordered a large. She came back after a while and said "you didn't pay £2.50, you paid £2.00, this is what the lady who took you order said" and she walked off, making me look like lier over 50p. So I went to the girl that served me and showed her my £2.50 purchase on my mobile and she apologised and gave me a large My issue is with the middle aged lady, she came across as rude and uninterested. At least ask me for a copy of receipt or purchase in case there was an error. Instead she just took the word of her staff/ daughter and put fault on me. Personally I sense a smell of biased or racism. I was watching another black customer was sitting outside near me and no one came to him to ask his order, yet I saw some Caucasian customers come and they came to them within minutes to take their order with all smiles and enthusiasm. The black gentleman had to call out "excuse me, excuse me " to get their attention I haven't tried the food so I cannot judge, but if the food Iis like the service I would definitely avoid. Even if they served the best food thier customer service will never do it justice!

Don't go on a Sunday if you want breakfast food!! The chef go on a break at lunch time. And they can only serve a kebab!!! Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Just had, probably the worst shish ever? 6 bits of meat, first 3 tasted a bit like done, next 3 were so gristle I had to put them back on the plate! When I brought the plate in, the bloke just took the plate off me, and as I explained what was wrong with it, he just walked off! Gets 2 stars because I previously had good food out of there. Don't think I'll be back with that attitude, though?

Absolutely horrid food! We ordered on line and we got cremated bread, sauce was spiled all over all order in a bag, minute amount of salad with so called 2 large ( really they were rather on a small side) portions of chicken kebab.. So all of it gone into a bin.. Uber did issue a full refund after we send in a complaint and photographic evidence. Avoid at any cost!!!!!

I ordered via Uber Eats, and I had ordered many times before. The rice did not arrive. The bread did not arrive. There is no number to call. Will not order again. Very unfortunate.

Has this place changed management?Been here a few times, but this last visit was disappointing. Food was OK, but we were definately overcharged based on what we ordered and I'm sure the waitress knew. Won't be found back in a hurry.

Very friendly place to have a wonderful evening time family or friends

This would have been 5 stars a year ago but the place is going downhill. Always new staff, half speak very little English. Today I waited 12 minutes for a black coffee, when it arrived I sent it back to be topped up with hot water. I’m happy to pay £2.50 for a full cup but not half a cup. That said, I can’t complain about the food I’ve had from here over time. It’s always been fresh and tasty, prices have gone up and portion sizes have got smaller. I suppose that’s the cost of living crises. The place needs new furniture inside and a lick of paint.

This is a busy cafe, very convenient and tasty food.

A friendly Turkish owned restaurant with Turkish grill on the side. Loads of English dishes as well as the kebab grill meals. Great coffee and they have an alcohol licence. Food is really good and very reasonably priced. We often get takeaways from here as well as eating in.

I had a negative experience at Cafe La Lavella. The owner offered me a part-time contract but expected me to work full-time hours to avoid paying taxes. He had unreasonable expectations and treated me poorly. On my first day, he expected me to know how to make all types of coffee for customers. How should I learn all the types of coffee in one day? I would not recommend this place due to the owner's unethical practices and poor treatment of employees.

Rude, forgot one item off the order, now over priced and you only get 4 pieces of meat in a shish!

I ordered a meal, which was missing one item that I'd paid for. I was told that I should have said when I got the meal. They was busy, so did not want bother them. The very grumpy manager blamed me. Rude, no offer of money back. But its the rudeness! Uncalled for. It's not very clean either. The salt/pepper/condimemts looked like that had not been wiped down for days! Will not be returning. Very Rude people

I ordered food and paid additional for the product. Food arrived, busy restaurant, so I did not bother the staff. On my way out, I updated the manager about what had happened. I was told off, because I failed to alert the manager when the meal was served. Told that the chef is busy and got it wrong, which is fine. No offer of money back for the item thy forgot, I was not so concerned about that. My concern was the aggressive, argumentative and unhelpful manager, who really does not care or appear to have any pride with the business. Cleanliness is a issue, condiment/salt and pepper not appeared to be clean and the place is 'sticky' needs a good bottle of bleach. Alas I wont' go again. It's all very slapdash.

It looks like a nice cafe where to get a tea, so I’ve decided to go in. I just noticed a waitress with black hair closing the door to my face when she’s clearly saw me coming in. She looked hands free, so I think that was a bit rude. Then I’ve asked a tea to the other lady and she gave me a glass with no tea plate and tea bag was still inside the glass. Where should I put the tea bag, on the table? 🤨 I think some extra consideration would be nice. Anyway the cafe looks nice, however I didn’t see any vegan option to have with a tea. I think you should improve some things because the place looks nice, and it’s in front of the station. Also, who chooses the music on the radio? Sounds like dated and commercial house music most of the time.

The establishment needs renovation. Tables and chairs are old and dilapidated. Some chairs are broken. The staff when they were Bulgarians was a better idea.

If you like to wait then come here. 25 minutes for a panini then another 10 minutes on top of that for a cold baguette then 5 minutes later a portion of chips came out. If it was busy I'd understand but there were about 15 people in here

After waiting almost 25 minutes for a panini to come out for my other half I had to wait another 10 minutes for a cold baguette to come out then another 5 minutes for the chips to come out. See if you can beat our experience of having only 4 small cubed pieces of avocado in your chicken and avocado panini

Finding a café close to Morden Stn after 5pm for a drink-in cup of tea was proving difficult but fortunately we spotted the Lavella and they were most welcoming with prompt friendly service at sensible prices. Next time I'll try the Turkish menu that looks enticingly attractive.

Ordered take away shish kofte and it was absolutely disgusting when I opened box I saw half of tomato and very thin slices of mince meat on the side , It put me off completely from the food and especially from this shop. Basically I paid for half of tomato in one box and little bit of salad in another small box. NO NO NO NEVER AGAIN 🤮 I won't recommend this korner tiefs to anyone

Absolutely disgusting place. One time had plastic foil in my wrap and not I found a dead fly in the food, probably well marinated as well. Absolutely disgusting. When I told one of the waiters about the issue, everything seems normal. Absolutely discusting place with no standards.

Perfect place to come to breakfast, comfortable atmosphere, many choices on menu, staff were very friendly and delivered drinks and food quickly, did not have enough money for extra chips so they did it for free, have not had that happen for a while. The food was fresh and delicious! No complaints. Thank you.

I pop in here from time to time for a coffee or breakfast. Polite and good service. Clean and comfortable. Opposite Morden tube station and near bus stops.

The portions of food were enormous and was actually too much for me. The food was good and you could tell it was very popular by the amount of people waiting to be seated. I think I would try something more Turkish if I went back. The staff were quick and efficient as I suspect they have been doing it for many years. I believe it is family run business and they deserve the success that they have.

Often visit this place, very decent Turkish food at reasonable prices and pretty good coffee as well.

Very poor they need to understand English as a table of 4 paid for 4 breakfast only end up with two so sent up to ask about the other two that was missing but it not on they system ok so for 2 breakfast two bottles of coke and a coffee came to £31.50 when we worked it told the person over the counter keep telling me not on the system so we was over charge by £14 for two instead of 4 breakfast also we ask for a recipe they don't do them ???? Such a shame cos food is nice but just not the staff or understand of English

Went for breakfast asked for the eggs to be running but just turn them over not to be glassie. I don't think they understood what I said because not took any notice of me. When my breakfast came the bean had just come out the tin COLD 🥶 and the rest of the food was luke warm. I mentioned it to them said sorry but did not change or warm the food up. Very poor customer service, cash only. The place is a bit grabby none had masks on or hairnets. I will not be going back.

First of all let me just start by saying that the food is actually really nice, no problems there to be fair. But my god the staff! I ordered an iced coffee which literally took ages. I went to check to see where it is and was scolded by a very angry looking blonde lady to go and sit back down as it was coming. Waited other ten minutes….still no coffee. It came eventually and by then I didn’t even want it. So I suffer from IBS and went to use the toilet and without looking went into the ladies toilet by mistake as you do, came out to be scolded by an angry little man who proceeded to tell me off so I apologised went back outside and sat down. HE CAME BACK to have a go at me again in front of my auntie who I was with and in front of loads of customers and really embarrassed me so after that we left and my aunt wasn’t one bit impressed in the slightest! Moral of the story, if you want to be served by people with absolutely no people skills at all and wanna be shouted out for using the wrong toilet, this place will probably be your jam. Foods good though.

I took my daughter there for an ice-cream and juice and enjoyed the experience. I would like to revisit in the evening and I think they have music at the weekend but it doesn't make it clear. What should I expect? Will I be disappointed? I think with a strong manager this place could be a license to print money. In the wrong hands, a dump.

Bad customer services, there people were begging for tip. We asked them to cut the bread and they said pay tip. Very poor service and quality.

I’ve been to this restaurant before and the food and standards were much different. The reason I’m giving 1 star is because firstly we found a hair in the kebab which is due to the fact that chefs are wearing the Covid masks but not hair nets, secondly we asked if they can do a mix kebab which they can because it was in the menu but the waitress said they don’t do it so I think they can work on their staff training and the last reason is that the food didn’t have ANY seasoning which made it tasteless. Therefore I can’t give more than 1 star even if the size portions are good, there are many other aspects that put us off for going there again.

We went there on Tuesday, wasn’t too busy yet we waited quite a lot to be served. Food was ok. We were super surprised they refused give us the government discount despite being on the list because my husband bought a beer! Also they take cash only which itself is quite dodgy!

I love this cafe, I always make a visit when I'm in London visiting family. Delicious falafel and my brother enjoys the shish kebabs. Coffee very good too. Nice, strong flat white. They manage to prepare Lavazza coffee very well. Value for money and large portions. Win win!

The place has gone very very down hill before 6 month ago the place was amzaing lovley coffee but now everything is horrable wrong they always make mistake and then blame you only 2 of the girls and the owns wife are nice the the rest are rude and do no Make u fill welcome.
