There's nothing nicer after a long week to visit La Carb on a Friday evening ...a great selection of draft beers, lovely silky pasta dishes and Lino's garlic bread dough is amazing, as is his lasagne which my husband says is the best he's had. Lovely welcome from family, staff and chef himself. Already planning a return visit. Fabulous.

We had an excellent meal at Carbonara last night. They managed to feed 17 of us all at once, with lots of different choices. The lasagne I had was the best I have ever had in a restaurant. The staff were great, they really wanted us to have a good time. It was definitely service with a smile.

Absolutely delicious lunch, t-bone steak was beautiful, lasagne was utterly perfect, pepperoni pizza was amazing, atmosphere second to none, very authentic, service was faultless very friendly and welcoming. Will definitely be recommending. Excellent lunch

Our first visit since the refurbishment and reopening and we're delighted to say that La Carb is back, better than ever. Love the new interior, and the new garden area - it would have been great to watch Italy play rugby on a big screen there! The slimmed down menu is much more straightforward but retains all the favourites. Draught beers are a welcome addition. Lino's Lasagne and Tiramisu are still the best we've had. Can't wait to return!

We used to frequent La Carbonara over the last ten years prior to their recent closure. We were delighted to hear that they had reopened and, living very close by, decided to try it. We were impressed with the refurb of the interior and liked the new slimmed down menu which included small tapas style starters to give flexibility to diners as well as sharing platters and smaller or larger portion options of the main courses. The service and food was as good as ever. It was actually easier with a. smaller menu to peruse to make a decision! We shared 4 of the appetisers between us - as a starter - and then I had the spaghetti bolognese and my husband had a pizza. We also had pudding - chocolate fudge cake and affogato - all accompanied by lovely aperitifs and wine. It was very reasonably priced and the service was just right. So pleased to have our local back again and we have already booked for a week on Saturday to bring the wider family! We are very pleased to have you back! Thanks you!

Our party of four visited the Carbonara Trattoria and Bar on an early evening weekday. Whilst the restaurant wasn’t busy diners were starting to come into this recently refurbished and reopened restaurant. This restaurant has always been a popular eatery in the town and the reopening has been eagerly awaited by many. We were shown to our table and given menus, drinks orders were taken by one of several very polite and happy staff members. The menu has something for everyone and now offers smaller or larger portions, great idea. A nice range of European lagers are available at the bar along with Guinness. Each person in our party thoroughly enjoyed both our starters and main meals, the food portions were good, well cooked and very tasty. The refurbishment has been done nicely and the restaurant has a lovely atmosphere, the new extended eating and drinking area at the back of the restaurant is a big bonus. A small car park is also available at the rear of the building. Sue and Lino the owners have done a great job in reopening and making some changes to ensure their business continues to be a success in the town. Our party had an amazing time, Sue, Lino and their family along with all of their staff members made this a very enjoyable evening and we will soon be back.

Enjoyable Friday lunch. We had starters, pizza and linguine. Really enjoyable fresh food. The place has a trattoria vibe where you can come and go for drinks or food. Relaxed vibe. Recommended.

Second visit in three months and both times we’ve had delicious hot fresh food. Brie starter was gorgeous and all three pasta dishes were freshly cooked and tasted amazing. Even the house red is a lovely grape. Highly recommend a visit. Lovely friendly owners and staff.

We visited with my son and his wife. We had garlic mushrooms, garlic prawns and white bait for starters. For main course, one of us had Seafood risotto, another almalfi pasta,and we had meat with sauces and accompliments. All,of these dishes were hot and delicious. For desert we had cheesecake, profiteroles, and I had the lemocelli ice cream , which is delicious. The staff were really friendly and we enjoyed our meals. Can’t fault the service of the staff, We will be back very soon.

Not good. Ordered swordfish which is my fav! It arrived and was cooked through and tough so I politely sent it back. The waitress returned my meal saying the chef said that’s how swordfish should be. It’s not - check every recipe in the world and swordfish should be seared on outside and slightly raw on inside: if it’s tough it is overcooked. The manager came over and when I mentioned it was overcooked she responded with ‘I doubt it.’ When sending it back to the kitchen again I heard her say ‘she still doesn’t like it’ as if my opinion was totally irrational. I did get another meal instead which tasted great but again the salmon was overcooked. My mums steak was meant to be medium rare but this was also overcooked yet she dared not complain for fear of the confrontation I faced. We are polite people who were conscientious when making our complaint and yet it was not met with good service at all. I suggest if you go to this restaurant do not order fish as apparently the chef and staff believe swordfish should be cooked all the way through and that is definitely not a good sign!

We’ve been going to La Carbonara since it opened and in all those years we’ve never been disappointed. The food is always amazing and the menu is so big and varied it always feels like there is something new to try. Sue, Lino and the team are always warm and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. From a quiet meal for two to a large family gathering, the service too is always spot on. With the current health-conscious climate, it’s also worth mentioning that La Carbonara have always shown the highest hygiene standards.

Wonderful atmosphere as always. There is nothing yet sampled on this menu that disappoints, and everything is high quality and extremely well prepared. Service is always good humoured, attentive, and timely. There has never been a single issue on our many visits.

I was entertaining a visitor for a few days and had to find somewhere to eat on Wednesday evening. I had been to La Carbonara before and it was quite local to me.We arrived quite early for our reservation but it was no problem for the most welcoming staff.The menu was pretty extensive but after much deliberation I chose mushrooms in White Wine & Garlic to start. It was absolutely delicious. I followed this with Veal with Parma Ham, Blue Cheese and a Tomato Sauce with Vegetables. Again everything was cooked perfectly.Excellent food and great value for money. The only drawback, and this is minor, is that parking is very tight but this in no way takes anything away for a superb meal. Highly recommended

We've been here several times as a family group and always had good food. The portions are very generous and the service friendly. We usually go on a Saturday lunchtime and sometimes it is very quiet others quite busy seems very random. We have found the quality of food to be good, service can be a little slow sometimes but doesn't worry us as we are there for a family get together. They are very accommodating with the orders too doing starters as mains etc. There is parking behind the restaurant which is great.

Looking for a light meal so ordered a caprese salad - not on the menu but simple dish of mozzarella, tomato and fresh basil with a bread basket.What arrived was 1 tomato sliced with 5 slices of mozzarella and bizarrely a clump of salad including grated carrot in the middle! No fresh basil, only basil oil. Bread not over fresh either.Really not what I expected from an Italian restaurant. We were not asked if everything was ok and had to ask for the bill as no attendance at the table.I was shocked at the price of £8.95 each for the poor salad not including the bread!!. I questioned the bill and the chef arrived and stated that's what they used to charge when it was on the menu - no discussion! We had to ask for the staff member to come back again and pay the full bill.Shocking food, shocking service and overpriced. Unwelcoming and plain rude staff. A sad decline since my last visit. I won't visit again.

Thought we would call in for a light bite we requested from staff something without garlic or rocket we were recommended the caprese salad. Though it was not what we expected when it arrived one tomato each, mozerella, rocket (we specifically requested no rocket), grated carrot, tiny drizzel of basil oil hardly any, no fresh basil? Bread basket that had packet butters thrown on top we didnt want them, the bread was not that fresh tasting more like day old supermarket bread, . Poor show. The service was very bad, did not receive any check back, then when we expressed our dissatisfactionon after the meal after seeing the bill the price that was really not worth it and we left what we couldn't eat. We was totally dismissed and treated in a disrespectful manner that was embarrassing, our complaint was disregarded and we had to pay for what we thought was over priced and the rocket we could not eat just one tomato! Therefore we won't be returning such a shame. You need good quality food, listen to customer request and good service to match the prices, could make better at home, it was supermarket cafe standard not home cooked Italian Restraunt. No good, atmosphere poor, rude staff who don't care about their customers. Left feeling dissatisfied.

Popped in on a Saturday lunchtime. Friendly service and delicious food. It was not very busy, so it did feel a bit flat.. Will visit again on an evening when there will be more people in to give the place a bit of atmosphere.

The Carbonara has been our favourite local Italian for several years and worth the 15mile drive... we have always enjoyed a warm welcome and the delicious rustic Italian food and atmosphere..We ordered 3 pizzas this evening and asked for them to be returned to the oven fir a few minutes as the bases were very soggy and under cooked... 10mins later the owner apologised but said the chef was refusing to re do the pizza or cook as anything else as an alternativeWe were stunned by this and sadly won’t be returning.. and neither will the rest of our extended family and friends

Went here last weekend 30th Nov, 19, never again! Service and food terrible. Upon arrival, a man just pointed with his finger to across the restaurant, and said "your table is over there", then walked off, so we went and sat at our table. After 15 minutes he finally remembered we were there, and bought us the menu's but no offer of a drink. After 30 mins, and still without drinks, and 2 failed attempts of trying to catch a staff members attention and not even any water on the table, we were getting fed up, and were discussing leaving, but then the man finally came and asked us what we wanted to drink! We told him we were considering leaving and why and he said sorry but blamed it on the waitress. We were watching the staff in our boredom whilst waiting, and the man was just aimlessly walking around not doing much except banging the tambourine for someone's birthday, and chatting. The waitress was laying tables for the next day, and there was another man (staff) just stood by bar doing very little. As it was getting late (20:40) and we were hungry, we decided to stay despite being fed up. Bad move!

After living in Swindon for 6 years my sister and I decided to give la carbonara a bit of tlc. It is not necessarily the restaurant you would go first as you never see much movement nor a lot of people talking about it so that’s the reason why I was shocked with the hospitality - they have a nice family oriented business - and food. We ordered the fried Brie as starter and I was certainly gobsmacked by its outstanding quality and how all the flavours were perfectly mixed together and as main I’ve ordered the salmon pasta which was also very good. La Carbonara is a good place for you to socialise, the portions are huge, the food is above average but the only bad thing is their fizzy drink which is served from a big bottle meaning the coke was rather flat. Other than that I can certainly recommend La Carbonara!

This restaurant is so good that I travel from Chandler's Ford near Southampton to eat here. Mushrooms in gorgonzola sauce as a starter followed by one of the best fillet steaks available is my idea of a perfect meal. Very good sized portions. In fact, I had to take half the steak home for lunch the following day! I have been here many times and have never been disappointed so am looking forward to the next visit.

We used to go to the Weybridge brewery for a nice dinner out, but the chef left and we were very disappointed. We had been looking for a new place to go in Swindon with a wow factor. La carbonara is definitely our new favourite restaurant. You would drive passed the restaurant without thinking much of it. But when you go inside it is very cosy and Italian and the food is great. Best Steak in Swindon.

Regularly eat here. The steak is incredible! Great portion sizes. Lovely cosy atmosphere. Huge menu and delicious food.

Multiple visits hear and each one is consistently as good as the last. From the pizza to the scallops and the gorgeous scallops special. Ideal place for a couples dinner or pre book for a large group !

Have eaten here many times and it is always good. Steaks are great, pasta excellent but my favorite is the scallops. The service has always been friendly but does get busy so would advise booking particularly at weekends

This is a typical Italian experience which we truly enjoyed. The managers greet you warmly as you enter and the chef who is the owner, came to speak to us after dinner. We really felt at home. They offered genuine Italian food from pasta to a good properly cooked steak. At the end of the meal the manager came over offering us limoncello to ensure we left in the right spirit.

Worst experience we've had so far. Everything was rushed, starters appeared within minutes of ordering. We were constantly asked if we would like more drinks. The waiter poured all of the remaining wine into our glasses without even checking if we actually wanted any more.The food was really good, apart from the veg....the green beans were not fresh, definitely frozen,and the potatoes were disappointing too.

A recent family meal at La Carbonara was disappointing. On previous visits meals were good. However, on this occasion the main course for this Sunday meal was poor. The sauce was like poor flavoured tinned tomatoes! Quality of meats were poor, veal and chicken. Vegetables appeared to be rewarmed, beans had freezer burn and roast potatoes seem to have been rewarmed and not freshly prepared! Altogether an unhappy Sunday meal for us. My husband was even sick when we arrived home!! This is how bad it was! We will not be going back. The chef’s cooking and kitchens should have stringent spot checks!

As a family, we like eating at La Carbonara and have some really good meals there in the past. The staff were friendly, however, our Sunday afternoon meal was very disappointing! The quality of all our meals were very poor, we had chicken breast which was chewy and veal which was also chewy, not sure it was veal. I had veal at a Restaurant in Portugal and it tasted much better than La Carbonara’s which like chewing gum. The sauces were very bland. I was physically sick when we got home, will not be eating there again.

Hadn't booked, arrived at 6 and it wasnt busy. Greeted warmly as usual, seated straight away. Took drinks, then food order and must have been less than 5 minutes before starters arrived( 2 starters, garlic bread, whitebait) very nice, ( 3 mains, Steak in peppercorn brandy sauce was divine, pasta Bosco, lovely and a very nice and tasty mushroom risotto) arrived equally as fast as the starters, which was nice as we were starving. We ordered desert(2 ice cream and tiramisu) were very nice. 2 starters, 3 mains, 3 desert and 4 drinks in total came to about £87, was stuffed and very happy with service, not like some in the town that constantly fawn over you when you are trying to eat. Must visit more often, if only for a main course and not a yearly celebration.

The staff are really friendly, it’s an authentic Italian restaurant with a homely feel. The food was delicious, the only downside was there isn’t a children’s menu, they just do smaller portions of the adult meals.

Family meal for 6 adults and 2 children. At first glance the menu is large and then you get a list of specials. Sometimes too much choice makes life harder than too little choice. In the end we all settled on our choices and ordered a bottle of the house red to start proceedings. I believe if the house red is good, the food will be good, and the house red was very enjoyable @£16 a bottle.

My wife and I and friends visited on Friday 8th June and we ordered the Hallibut and Pizza. The hallibut was okay but the sauce with it was flavourless, the Pizza was okay but not memorable, also the Bruschetta was minimal in terms of amount and coating. But the Peroni beer did not taste like Peroni it tasted to me as an ex brewery employee like nothing I had tasted in terms of Peroni before. Maybe my taste buds.

I had an excellent lunch with a long lost friend in this war, friendly family run restaurant - his local favourite, and easy to see why. A good range of choices on the menu and a sensible selection of reasonably priced wines. Friendly, attentive but not overpowering service enhanced the experience; I like being given some space! My penne siciliana was delicious - and generous. Judiciously herbed tomato sauce, tast yspicy sausage and pasta cooked just right. My friend always has the fettucine polla crema and a modest taste justified his choice - rich without being overpowering. I had no room for a dessert, so settled for an excellent cappuccino; my friend had his usual sorbet - flavourful and not overwhelmingly sweet. The owner joined us for a chat - my friend is a regular - and this was a very pleasant way to round off the meal. The next time I go to Swindon to see him, we'll eat there again - and I'll pay!

Second visit to this eaterie. Great menu choice. We had starters then a main. Staff very courteous and friendly. Food was lovely, large portions. At no time did we feel rushed and reasonably priced too. Will return very soon

Good food and service, but at a price. No menu for children, so you will pay adult prices and there will be food wasted, and they will also charge for extras such as ketchup !! Won't be going back.

Our first visit on recommendation from a neighbour and so impressed! First class in every respect! My partner had a seafood medley special which she described as 'lovely in every way' and I opted for a fillet steak with a sauce, which was served to perfection and of the very highest quality. We both just about managed to squeeze in a dessert with liquor coffees and ended our meal feeling well fed and well looked after!

Been to La Carbonara on numerous occasions in parties ranging from 6 to 20 people including children. Food has always been excellent and no-one has ever had any complaints. Staff always friendly and attentive. Great place to celebrate a birthday. Looking forward to our next visit. Try it, you will not be disappointed.

Well,what can I say?A complete shambles,miserable waitress,poor quality steaks-even the dog turned her nose up!!!The wrong meal was served as well taglietelli instead of tortellini!!!complete schoolboy errors!!!After 13 years of loyalty,the business feels like it is dying a death,for shame.Very disappointed and will have to seek out Italian delights elsewhere!!!
