La Braseria in Swansea

Waited 45 mins for attention,to be told they had forgotten us. Food was good,beef overcooked. Large tables looked after first. Staff are nice,ambience good but ruined for us

My experience at this restaurant was disappointing. There was a long queue just to order, with no physical menus provided. We had to look at a limited menu above the till, which was missing many options. I paid £20 for a piece of salmon, expecting it to come with chips, but only a single medium bowl of chips arrived for the whole table to share. On top of that, several people in our group never received parts of their orders. While the staff were friendly, the whole ordering process was confusing and inefficient. This setup might be fine for two people, but for a larger group, it just didn’t work. Overall, it felt overpriced and poorly organised. Also, they run out of literally any vegetarian option.

Absolute gem of a place. Excellent venue, staff and food is outstanding. A big thank you to Paul for accommodating our needs with a disabled guest. Thankfully I won't allow the lady I spoke to last week to cloud my judgement on this place as I was quite bluntly told they couldn't accommodate us. Such a shame she lost my booking of 12 ppl for another date because I was so angry for refusing an elderly partially sighted lady! Paul, you are a credit to this place and yourself. Also for restoring my faith! Thank you

Calamari, steak good, expensive for what it is tho. Ask for cheesecake for dessert, guy says, actually it’s not a cheesecake, get given some floppy cake out of a box 🤷‍♂️

My husband and I had a lovely meal. I was looking for seafood, but not the run of the mill restaurants. I found it 😊Fresh seafood, well prepared. Generous portions. The mussel started could have used sourdough bread to soak up the delicious garlic butter sauce. The steak was perfect. The waiter overlooked our sweets menu. Another waiter was flagged and our request promptly seen too. I will definitely visit again.

Had to select food while queuing at the counter. Menu only written on board behind counter. Had to bend down to properly see the whole menu. Felt awkward and we left without ordering anything.

Steak ok but we had to share chips that were not enough for two people. I was expecting a portion of chips each. Also the chips were the dregs at the bottom of the pan, not big chips as I was expecting. Salad selection very poor and not topped up out of coleslaw. Overpriced for what you receive. Harvester knocks spots of it.

Beautiful fresh food. Lovely atmosphere, More of a friends meet up for lunch rather than a family restaurant. Great service fast and friendly. Toilets on bottom floor. Do have 3 floors. Menu on chalk board would personally prefer to have a menu at the table as we were with someone who was blind in one eye. Also lovely place for a Date night. Parking nearby but have to walk there. Not cheap either. Overall I enjoyed.

Lovely food, nice atmosphere, very friendly staff. Very good selection of wines. The only downside is that they don’t do patatas bravas or crema catalana. I would love to go back again 😀

Ordered drinks twice as they forgot our first order and our drinks turned up after our food came out , had our starters but no cutlery to eat it and had to ask. filet Steak just tasted like burnt charcoal but was cooked rare as I asked it to be cooked, not sure why it tasted like this but it tasted very wrong and I’ve never tasted a filet steak that just tasted burnt. I’ve been to this restaurant lots of times over the last 20 years and paying £90 for bad service and dreadful food. I will not be going back.

50th birthday meal for work colleague. Food was delicious, I had chicken breast in a garlic sauce as main and stuffed mushrooms to start. Beautifully done, tasty, couldn't fault the food, but why so dark in there?

We haven’t been to the Braseria in 20 years, having been very regular customers in the past. It was a huge disappointment. The service was non-existent! One starter came after about an hour, with no sign of the second. We were told several times that it would be along in a few minutes, but it never arrived. This was hardly surprising, given there was only ONE chef cooking! We cancelled the rest of our order and left. There was no apology, the staff really don’t seem to care. This was once a great restaurant, basic but good quality. I would urge other diners to avoid like the plague. I can recommend Wagammama across the road- food was speedy and good quality. We will never return to La Braseria. It bears no resemblance to the place it was. Terrible shame!

A little disappointed with the venue unfortunately. We ordered two lamb and two salmon and the salmon was undercooked to say the least. There was no jus' or gravy on offer to go with the lamb and it came with a side of chips and no veg. We were however offered peppercorn sauce but that isn't something that I would pair with lamb. Not what I would expect from a higher priced venue. The service was good but no explanation on the ordering process upon being seated.

We happened to walk into the restaurant without knowing much about it. Ambience gives it a character. Staff is fabulous. One of them helped us pick exactly what we were looking for. Fish was fresh. Service was immaculate. They helped us take pictures. They totally made it our evening memorable ❤️

Positive lady doing seating was great bar only. That's it. Food awful.starts meat balls dry. Mains. Chicken skewers burnt so tasted acrid. Ribs tough with a awful coating. This is so over priced for the quality of cooking. Ingredients good cooking sh+t. Can't make it more more clear.

We had the weekend lunchtime menu. My husband had no complaints really enjoyed his ! Mine however wasn't so nice. The rump steak was not nice , chewy and in edible. The manager was great and deducted the price of my steak from our bill. Thank you , much appreciated 👏

Used to think this place was outstanding but it’s really gone downhill! We waited nearly an hour just for our starters. My husband asked for his steak medium, but it came out very rare so he complained and when they bought it back it was covered in fat - hot on the outside and cold in the middle. Mine was fine, but the whole experience was completely different to the previous times we have visited. £100 later we left extremely disappointed!!

We had a wonderful meal as usual but the waitress was exceptional, Pryti Patel, I hope I’ve spelt it right, she is always so friendly and makes you feel special and is a real asset to the restaurant.

I visited the Braseria lunchtime with my partner and had a really good time. We both had stuffed mushrooms, beef medallions, chips and white chocolate profiteroles and the meal was fine. I had a couple of glasses of Rioja, and then found out they keep a bottle of green Chartreuse in the bar which really made my day as I love the stuff! I particularly like the Spanish theme of the Bras, especially the music (Gypsy Kings). I have been a regular since the 90s and I always enjoy the experience of eating here.

We have heard mixed messages about this place recently, but our lunchtime special was very good. Service was good and we had a very nice glass of wine each. We hadnt been to La Braseria for some time, the biggest difference we noticed was the prices, even the lunchtime special was expensive for what it was.

Had the lemon sole. Was tasty but wish they would have deboned it for me.

Been to La Braseria many times over the years, it had never been a disappointment. Revisited the restaurant recently post pandemic, the vibes / ambience and popularity of the restaurant is still vibrant, however lacking in service and food refinement. Engagement between the staff with guests seemed to be missing, everyone is told the same thing once seated - refer to the board for food and drink choices the staff seems unwilling to part with their recommendations on dishes or sides, it reminded me of having in a meal in a cafe not a restaurant. Food quality were mediocre, what was on the menu 10 years ago is still on the menu which is good why change something that aint broken, however, there didnt seem to be any new addition (perhaps there was but we werent informed). In a competitive F & B market such as in Swansea one would think innovation and good service are essentials to stand above the rest, reputation alone can do the job if one ensure to maintain the highest standard in the industry to attract repeated customers, positive reviews or recommendations on an ongoing basis. I probably will not return to the restaurant again as there are too many better choices in Swansea that are doing their best to attract foodies.

If you want to be waited on, it isn't for you. Was surprised to find no menu and have to go to bar to choose and order food. Luckily it wasnt too busy and can imagine if it was, there would have been queues. Meals do not come with any vegetables. Food was hot and tasty, but won't be heading back there again, as overall experience was not good.

Bit late with this as was there Christmas eve for lunch. We arrived at 3.30pm and they had obviously been very very busy and still were. We had the most amazing couple of hours .....beautiful food...beautiful wine and best of all beautiful staff.....even though they were under so much pressure they were all so cheerful and chatty. Myself and my hubby hadn't been here on Christmas eve for many a year but we had such a lovely time .....Thank you The Braz and all the staff working upstairs xxxxx

Booked a table for 14 to celebrate a birthday, staff were great at confirming booking & when I needed to adjust table size this was done straight away and email confirmation. All 14 meals were delicious, we all ordered from the lunch menu plenty of choice & great value for money. If you are having a side the garlic bread is amazing 🤩 Great selection of wine Staff were polite & attentive We had a excellent service & would definitely recommend.

Terrible experience of dining - the worst we have ever had! It was our first ever time to this place (and last) and we didn't even get shown to a table, instead got told to "go find a table over there". No one explained the ordering system until I had to ask a waitress about 15minutes later. Ordering food was to be done upfront by the deli looking counter (felt like a takeaway place). 3 of the dishes we tried to order were out of stock (oysters, scallops, leg of lamb). The 1 star rating goes to the chicken skewer starter which was tasty and tender even though they took a long time to arrive. With the time passing I even had to go and extend our parking as it was going to run over the 2 hour limit with a fine to be had. Mains took a considerable time to arrive and when they did eventually come, complete and utter disappointment!. I had the lamb skewers which were chargrilled to death, dry and chewy with no flavour. My partner had the seafood platter which wasn't edible (he usually eats anything and everything). There were 3 closed muscles, overcooked salmon, cold calamari, small whole fish with no actual meat to eat inside them and deep fried cold fish. Not once did a waiter / waitress come over to check on us, we had to get ourselves new cutlery for mains as they took them away with the starter dishes then also had to ask to order another drink as no one else came to the table. On plate collection I told the waitress the food was inedible as there was a considerable amount of food left on both plates. The manager then came over to query the complaint and instead of offering any sort of apology or discounted bill, all he done was correct me on what I thought was deep fried sardines, turned out to be deep fried whitebait... (Very helpful).. the overall bill came to £92. Very disappointed, would never return here or recommend the place to anyone. Avoid at all cost.

Yet another wonderful lunch in this beautiful restaurant. We had a two course lunch on new year's eve. You cannot fault the service or the food in this restaurant, we come here a few times a year and we have never been disappointed. The quality of food and service is excellent. Don't let the bad reviews put you off, expensive..yes, good YES!!

Very disappointing to be honest. Will not be returning. There are plenty more, better places to go for a meal.

Visited here 29th December 2023 with two work colleagues for lunch. I ordered avocado and prawns for starters but ended up with just a prawn cocktail but still charged for the avocado, For lunch I ordered sea bass and jacket potato, Sea bass arrived and full of bones ( poor filleting ) difficult to see in a dimly lit restaurant, jacket potato forgotten and had to remind them. Wine was nice and pleasant. It’s a real shame as this restaurant used to be amazing back in the day. My two colleagues both had the steak and chips, steaks were of poor quality chips were great. They had requested medium cooked steaks but by the time they came on a skillet they were to say the least well done and dried out. The restaurant and decorative state in which it is set is very nice with the open kitchen. Overall poor value for money .

Booked a table which was confirmed by member of staff and an e mail. Arrived at restaurant with family to be told no table available by Manager. He had given table to another customer. No apology from Manager just a shrug of his shoulders. Very rude, unprofessional & disrespectful Manager. Thank you La Bras for ruining our day.

My friends and I visited on a Saturday night in November and were disappointed unfortunately. We arrived ten mins before our table was booked, and were told we’d have to wait as it wasn’t quite ready (which we were very happy to do). After another 25 minutes our table still wasn’t ready and we asked when it would be and were told by a member of staff that he was doing a drinks order and once finished he’d take us through to the table. We’d waited so long that we knew what we wanted to order so as we were seated we asked to order straight away and were told we had to go and join a fairly large queue at the counter to order the food. I asked for the beef medallions au poivre and was told they had run out earlier in the day (why weren’t we communicated this when seated at our table?). I ordered fillet steak and my friends ordered duck. We noticed they came with chips or jacket but we couldn’t see any vegetable/salad sides on the menu so presumed that some greens (in some form) came with the mains. Our starters arrived, mine came out about 5 mins after my friends. The garlic bread side was awful (apologies for the bluntness, but it really was terrible). The food came and we were surprised to see that it really was just steak and a jacket potato. For £33.50. I thought the steak was lovely, but I was very surprised at what the dish looked like for that price. Are there not vegetable side dishes? It looked like a medieval meal (see attached pic). My friends had literally half a duck and chips, with no sauce or veggies or salad. And they did say that it wasn’t crispy as described on the menu. Overall it was a weird visit, I remember it being very different the last time I ate here which was a couple of years ago. We also were waiting for so long that I had to extend my parking.

We Ordered from set menu, stuffed mushroom and the chicken wings starter which were very nice and I had the chicken breast with garlic sauce for main, my husband had pork, we also ordered chips, garlic bread and coleslaw. Starters came to the table and we enjoyed. Then came the mains, my chicken breast came with a tomato salsa obviously not the garlic sauce as advertised. We had to ask a waitress for the garlic bread and coleslaw only to be told that there was no coleslaw left, why not tell us that instead of us having to ask where it, very poor service! I asked about the creamy garlic sauce and the waitress said “no, you’ve got salsa”, (obviously duh)! So I said that’s not what I ordered, so off she went and returned with a little bowl with what looked like bits of veg in oil🤢….more like a salad dressing and that was debatable! It was awful, I told the waitress this bit she just said “sorry” an flounced off. Who dips chicken in oil? Haven’t been to this restaurant for a few years, we used to really enjoy the food here but obviously standards have dropped, probably won’t return after this experience, very disappointed.

Had a great lunch here. The set menu had plenty of choice and the food was great. At around £20 per head for two courses it represented good value. The staff were attentive and friendly and there were quite a few tables occupied even though it was a Monday. Shame there was no draught beer and the Spanish music did get a bit wearing. We will revisit.

Exterior is looking tired, could do with a lick of paint. The interior looks authentic, and the food was lovely.

Having not been to the Bras for quite a few years, i was reminded of how much i loved the ambience and food during my last visit, staff were really helpful and pleasant, there were no pressures or time constraints, food was phenomenal, i had the two course lunch menu, a huge wedge of Deep fried brie with a generous portion of red currant jelly, main was a rump steak and jacket potato, steak was delicious cooked perfectly for me, pepper sauce complimented the steak perfectly, side of garlic bread was really good. All in all fantastic value and a really excellent meal. Beers and wines were fairly priced. Big Shout out to Pritti who was the perfect host and really looked after us. Cant wait to come back! Im having the lamb kebab next time! Wow!

Positive - The Brasseria can be a great place to take your partner for a meal. The atmosphere and service is wonderful and its nice to get dressed up for a change and wear something special. I particularly love the decor and choice of wines, spirits etc. Negative - Unfortunately, what is not so great is the food. The presentation is really good, but the overall the food is pretty lousy and I found much better value in the No Sign Wine bar a short trip up the road a couple of weeks back. The lamb was well undercooked. The chips are pretty much chip shop chips and the veg was a soggy mess. Call me old fashioned but I prefer broccoli, carrots and peas. As a one off I might return, but its not great value for the prices.

Not impressed, 6 of us as a family visited after watching a play in the grand. Table booked for 21.45pm. Order for drinks tipped over table, dripped down onto clothes b4 we could move. Waited 45mins till we said when is someone taking our order to be told u have to go up to counter. Waiter did not tell us this on arrival. When our choice of food came we went to dig in and someone put the lights out in some areas of restraint and being at the back we couldn't see what we were eating. My sardines were dry, well over cooked not much to rummage through to get a proper serving out of the 6 served. Steaks were dry family not impressed. Service very poor was like come on we want to go home.said refuse to pay for sardines as unable to eat potion but bill was not altered on examination next day. So reason why low star, we expected much better service for a Spanish restrant. Service was appoling and operated as a restrant

After many visits over many years very poor lately, service is awful staff are not trained, considerable amount of time waited for food had to enquire 3 times after 2 hours main course arrived, we were a party of 4 and not one steak was cooked as ordered, emailed to complain cannot even reply

Food = 2/5 - Served our chips on a tiny tray for a big table - Wasn't asked what sauce we wanted on our steak. Came out with nothing - Sardines were over cooked/dry Service = 1/5 - Waiter spilt all the drinks over us - Waiter didn't bring us any menus - Waiter didn't tell us we had to go to the bar to order food - Had to ask for the salad that was ordered. Came late Atmosphere = 2/5 - Lights were turned off on us. Had to ask for them to be turned on as we were eating in the dark - Atmosphere was very weird after having so much go wrong Overall = 1/5 This restaurant felt like it was purposely being bad. You know like those restaurants where they're supposed to be rude/bad. If you're looking for a really good restaurant, this is not it despite the price.

Went on a Mon lunchtime. Was quiet,but food was great,as usuall,and staff were very attentative. My friend was very impressed,on the quality and price. He had wings and hake. For 19.95 it was exellent value. Had great wine too. See you next time we are down from London

Great place to wind down and have a lovely meal. Food was excellent as was the service a must if looking for somewhere to eat in Swansea.

The service was slow with mediocre food at best, the environment was nice, an old-fashioned style pub. The main issue was that the food was undercooked and rushed. The service took an hour to come through, although the staff were friendly.

Terrible meal, really disappointed. We arrived and were told we could sit outside until a table was ready despite having booked. It was rainy amd windy so we said no and we're offered a table that sat 8 people when there was only 2 of us. They then found us a nice table tucked away in a little corner. It was just a really strange first impression. We ordered steak and baked potato each, with scallops and calamari to start. The scallops were lovely and fresh. The calamari was from frozen and chewy, didn't expect it from a seafood restaurant. The steak was really poor. Mine came out on a skillet that was so much hotter than my partner's that it was smoking and I couldn't touch it for at least 5 minutes. I thought this would mean it was lovely, but instead it was chewy and tasted burnt. I've had better steaks in a chain pub it was honestly awful, I left most of it and ate my baked potato. £120 bill and we went to the garage over the road for some chocolate on the way home as I was still hungry. The red wine was nice, but the rest was a let down.

What an absolute treasure find in Swansea. We were staying about 20 miles from Swansea but wanted to drive out to find a seafood restaurant and we were pleasantly surprised by what a lovely restaurant we found. The staff were so polite and friendly they made us feel so welcomed and you could really feel that they knew the food/menu well. The food was delicious and very well presented and priced. If we were ever in the area again we would definitely come back again.

Absolute pleasure to be back in my mum in laws favourite restaurant We really enjoyed Sorry we had a bit of a mix up with the steaks but the staff were so good to sort it out and we really enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

This is the second time I have been here. The first time was fine, but not at weekend and quieter which may account for, but not excuse, the following. Booked a table for four on a Saturday night. On arrival the booking had bit been observed and there was no table, after a lot of backwards and forwards with staff asking us to sit outside or come back later, still with no guarantee of a table, the manager sorted us out a table. Great you think until you get out on a table for two with four settings! Starters: calamari and asparagus, both ok, calamari a little chewy but not too bad. Main: After waiting for 1 hour 45 minutes after being sat down these arrived. Four steaks (1 fillet, medium rare, 3 ribeye 2 medium rare one medium) waiters clearly had no idea which was which. Ribeye placed down as a fillet and just on feel alone the ribeyes were not given to the right people. Sent back to ensure the right customers were getting the right steaks, they are not cheap. Back came the steaks and put down, my medium rare was overdone, the steak had no flavour, the peppercorn sauce, likewise, did not taste of anything. The chips were not good. House red was nice though. Dessert: was never offered the option. Water that was asked for had to be reordered twice before it arrived. It's a pricey restaurant and food, organisation and service do not match the price tag. Whether they were simply overly busy and lost control of front of house, I don't know, but to charge those prices for that experience is not on. I will not be going back.

Went as part of a large group. The food was really odd, pretty much meat on its own for starter and main. No veg, no sauce, not even a garnish. Service was pretty poor, as they kept missing people out and some of our group were waiting until gone 2230 for desert. They didn't seem well set up for a large group.

I was so looking forward to eating here after having talked about visiting for some time, but my friends and I had a disappointing visit to day the least. We had reserved a table here to celebrate a special event, and we didn’t even make it as far as ordering before we decided we needed to leave. After sitting for quite a while with little interaction from staff, we requested menus and were informed that the only menu available was on the board behind the bar, where we would have to physically go to order our food. We asked if there was truly no alternative copy or way to order as I am a wheelchair user, and navigating through a busy restaurant is not only difficult, but dangerous for me and anyone else walking about, particularly alongside a party of 5 other people in an already tight space. Servers informed us that one of my friends would need to take a picture of the board to show me the menu. After we decided on what we wanted, we asked a server passing our table if someone could take my order where I was sitting to avoid me trying to navigate across the restaurant. The server, standing right next to me, proceeded to speak to my friends about me, right over my head as if I were incapable of understanding or speaking for myself. He suggested that they (my friends) take my order to the bar, despite the fact that he was indeed right there and could have assisted. I dislike writing negative reviews but this behaviour is unacceptable and dehumanizing. My own experience aside, my friends were left feeling as if they were working against the staff rather than with them towards a solution, and it was frustrating for all of us. We ultimately decided to take our business elsewhere before we could even place an order. Given how others have rated the quality of service here, I sincerely hope this was a one-off incident or an unusually bad night. Regardless, management should seriously consider training for their team on the appropriate treatment of disabled patrons, and some print menus for people who may not have the luxury of being able to walk across their restaurant to order at the bar.

A dark restaurant with mainly seafood. Lots of options, including drinks (wines) to go with your food choices. Be prepared to pay dearly.

Really nice venue and the staff were fantastic, however the food was a huge disappointment. We'd pre-booked our meals months in advance for a 3 course meal. My colleague who is vegan and had specified this in advance clearly had no started or dessert prepared for her. My main course was supposed to be chicken in a cheese and asparagus sauce... By this they actually mean we will melt some cheese on a chicken breast for you. Such a shame

Ordered a T bone steak was supposed to be medium rare it was like a piece of shoe leather. Very disappointed extortionate price no sides of any tomatoes or salad just bare steak poor quality and not worth the price.I used to hold this place to high standard not any more. Actually was celebrating my daughters graduation put a dampener on what should have been a day to remember.

Have visited for many years as the best fillet steak around and still is. But.......visited last night and quite disappointed. Glass of wine and beer looked uninviting. 2 pate starters, pate was tasteless and personally thought bread should have been toasted like it used to be. Great fillet steak but the famous chips were no better than chip shop chips. Beautiful dessert but cutlery let it down. Cheapest of cheap rubbish. Service was great, very hard working staff. Back door was open and cigarette smoke coming in when eating. Hasn't put us off but please don't let standards drop.

Awesome place and my first time in swansea good people , vibes & food.

Difficult time to be there, Monday night of a Bank Holiday, but service was good and the food was good. Very nice people, and a nice atmosphere. I'm not so sure about the way of ordering food, as if there were a line of people, they could get annoyed if people ahead of them were taking their time in making their choices...it may be better to revert to more traditional ways of taking orders... But I give the place a good recommendation, it's worth going into.

My first ever time coming to this Spanish themed restaurant in Swansea to celebrate my brother's 21st Birthday last Saturday the 22nd of April the day before his birthday. There was four of us altogether I must say the service, food and beverages didn't disappoint...

We have come here for years but haven’t been for a while we have had a fabulous night and lovely to see the staff ,Paul is always a favourite face when we visit and all the staff have been amazing and the food was fantastic...

Very disappointed with my birthday meal on Friday night.Had the sirloin steak which came on a sizzling plater with no garnish at all peas,tomato, would have been nice of a presentation as you eat with your eyes. The place is over priced and over rated will not recommend to anyone. Your better off going to a sizzling pub which is much cheaper..

My partner loves seafood and she was not disappointed at all! The food was stunning and the ambiance didn’t let it down either! Would go back at the drop of a hat!

Went here to celebrate an 18th birthday, it was busy so was glad I booked in advance, the food was ace and quickly brought to the table the staff were good no problems here look forward to our next visit

We went with a party of 8 on Wednesday evening. I have been before. The food was delicious as usual, however the service was terrible. Very rude waitress and unwelcoming interactions with staff overall. Will not be rushing back.

Whilst this place used to be amazing its living on its historic reputation, the service is absolutely appalling and we went for lunch in the day when it is quiet qnd when most establishments are screaming for customers. Everything is a chore such as asking for a knife or a drinks menu which includes sighing huffing and puffin around the table

18 months ago after a really bad experience I vowed never to set foot in the Braz ever again.....but it was a friends 60th birthday and this was her choice so had to suck it up and go. OMG what a difference......its the old Braz......absolutely...

Glad to see the Braz has really upped its game and is now back to the lovely restaurant it has been all these years. Fabulous visit yesterday for lunch....delicious food but best of all fabulous staff....a joy actually. We,ll be back.
