Kwan Thai in Ipswich

Really looking forward to trying this as it's been recommended, only found out tonight that they deliver so gave it a try. Paid for the food but nothing turned up, called the restaurant and they told me it's been delivered but the delivery picture is somewhere else so I never actually got try. Hope this is something they get sorted so other people don't have to loose out. Just pissed 40 quid down the drain but I'm sure the food is great if it turns up

Had a lovely meal with my girl friends. We went for the mixed Hors d'oeuvres to start which is a great sampler of Thai cuisine. Would definitely recommend if you have never had Thai food before. We then opted for a few main dishes to share which were amazing. Would highly recommend the Musman Curry and the Weeping Tiger. Great atmosphere and service!

Absolutely 💯 tasty food, ambience, staff were lovely and friendly, food was unbelievable would go there again and again and highly recommend it to anyone.

We had the sharing starter as in the photo it was delicious….wish we had had just had six plates of this as our whole meal! The ‘sticky rice’ that came with our main courses was like boiled rice I had cooked the night before and kept in the fridge, it was hard and certainly not a typical Thai sticky rice. Very disappointing as the prices were high. I went with my family, the two children were afraid of trying spicy food and went for the classic Chinese restaurant lemon chicken. We all tried it after they pulled faces….it was so artificial in flavour…..maybe with sweeteners? They could not eat it. Would not go there again. The waiter did his bit of being over friendly with the children and his jokes but what we really wanted was good food for the price!

The service was excellent and the food came quickly, just what we needed as we were going to the theatre. The choice of dishes was excellent and the food was delicious. Thanks for a lovely meal.

From the moment we walked in we knew we had chosen right, we fancied somewhere different and found this place, it was packed with customers and the food smelt amazing, the staff were excellent and friendly and the flavours were something else. Don't hesitate if you're lucky enough to get the opportunity to dine here 👍👍

Not enough food, tiny portions, no egg with prawn phad thai. Don't recommend for a takeaway at 50£, certainly not a double the cost sit down meal inside.

Six of us had dinner at Kwan’s yesterday. The service was prompt and staff were pleasant. The food was awful. This was not Thai food by any stretch of the imagination. They even did not know what a half decent Tom Yum should taste like. As for the Beef Pad Khing, it was unrecognisable and drowned is some awful gooey sauce. It was the same with the Asparagus with mushrooms. We did not have one half decent dish. All in all it tasted like an extremely poor Chinese meal.

I absolutely love this place. THE best place in Suffolk for authentic cuisine. The Staff are lovely and the menu has a big variety. I come here regularly with my partner. This is Thai cuisine at its finest. The weeping tiger steak is to die for!

A great spot for dinner, the staff are always cheerful and helpful. I come here regularly and I've never been let down by the offering. We quite like the set meals which are great value for money and we always end up with enough for lunch the next day. Definitely one of my top restaurants in Ipswich - if not the top. Shout out to the owner as well, who is often there and one of the friendliest people I've had the pleasure to meet. Honestly 10/10 experience.

Extensive menu which is quite overwhelming for a Thia newbie. Set menu suggestions were a helpful starting point (also helpful that I went with a returning customer). Very busy and noisy. Toilet was immediately beside dining area, a felt sorry for the tables near the door! Food was tasty, attentive service but not really enough time to help make our selection.

2 people) Crab meat fried rice, stir-fried squid and vegetables, tom yum goong It’s a Thai restaurant run by Thai people. It was nice to be able to experience the local taste. There were so many menu items and they were unfamiliar to me, so I asked for recommendations and they were great. The crab meat fried rice is seasoned just right and the quantity is plentiful. The stir-fried squid and vegetables were delicious, but a little salty. Be sure to try the traditional Thai food, Tom Yum Goong. I was disappointed when I tried it at other places and it wasn't delicious, but it was so delicious here.

Best spot in Ipswich for food and amazing Thai food. Great menu and lovely service. A must visit if you are in the town. Loved it.

Warm atmosphere and attentive staff. Loved the papaya salad and green curry. Both hot and spicy but full of flavour.

My husband and I went to Kwan Thai this evening for dinner. I haven't been for a few years but the quality has not dipped at all it was absolutely outstanding we ordered a set Menu for 2 which included Mixed Starters, Wheeping Tiger, Chicken Musman curry, Vegetable Noodles and Chicken fried Rice everything was delicious! Even though the restaurant was very busy the service was impeccable. I won't leave it so long before visiting again!

A friend of mine booked a table here for myself and another friend and we were not disappointed. The food was excellent. The soup as the duck curry stood out for me. Service was excellent even though it was a busy Saturday evening. I would definitely recommend.

Great Food & Great Delivery Thankyou

Now, I am leaving this review not because I want too, but because I need too. I work in hospitality doing promotions, photography, videography etc etc, so I get to eat and taste foods from all different cultures and areas across the UK. (I eat a lot of nice food) We called at 9:10, asking if they still served food, the bloke on the phone told us “the kitchen closed at 9:30 but yeah sure we can fit you in” (bare in mind, we had a 15 minute drive yet) so we was pushing it to say the least. We arrived, hastily ordered from the set menu and ordered drinks. Now, all I can say is that the food that was served was one of, (If not) the best meals I have ever had in my entire life, I wish I took photos (I’d been a photoshoot all day forgive me) however it was truly delicious. If you’re reading this and undecided on whether you should go because (you dont know if thai food is your type of thing) you’re wasting time, go, now, you will not regret it. (Ps - bring cash as they cant accept tips on card) Staff, drinks & food, all perfect. ❤️

I have been to this Thai many times over the years and it never disappoints me. The owner is so welcoming and always friendly every time. I pre booked a few days before and she was very accommodating as always. The staff were great and always so happy to help. The food is great and always so much to choose from. The Set Menu is a brilliant idea also.

Nice food but as we're early eaters we wanted a 7pm booking time was then told we would have to be out by 9 so was very rushed to get another sitting in. Won't be returning

Fantastic service, great food and as ever lovely atmosphere. Was there for a team lunch for 6 of us and we were looked after very well.

The food was excellent,the choice is unbelievable and the service is also excellent Friendly welcoming atmosphere I just can't fault it at all I would recommend you try the stuffed scallops and the weeping Tiger but all there food is amazing and reasonably priced If you want to tip take cash as they can't plus it on to the card machine Well done all

Had udon noodles with slices of fried chicken (packet type) and a king prawn with bamboo as hoist in an oyster sauce Meal was ok but the king prawns in an oyster sauce had their shells still on which made it very messy to unpeel. Taste was bland and unremarkable. Filled a hole and quenched appetite but that's all

Fantastic food and good service for delivery

Having eaten from here a few times I was super excited to get a pad Thai with a side of som tam. I was a little gutted that the pad Thai was dressed as a pad Thai however tasted nothing like it. It’s a dish that I’ve eaten in many places and had a few times here which has always been on point, one of the best I’ve had. So, this evening I was pretty gutted that it was just nothing like one. Som Tam was amazing as ever tho

The food was late by half an hour. The food was cold. The delivery driver could not even be bothered to say a word, possibly because he was too busy on his phone.

This is the best Thai restaurant we have ever been to. I had the fried fish with green curry. The meal was delicious. I enjoyed the house white wine aswell. We definitely recommend this restaurant 👍

Great Thai food, well worth a visit.

Kwan thai is one of the best restaurants in Ipswich. Never disappointed in restaurant and while first time ordering from Just Eat, quality and portions are great.

The Thai noodles and prawns in a garlic sauce were ok but nothing to write home about. The meal was vastly overpriced - over £30 for 2 items! The issue of pricing has been a consistent theme in customer feedback!

Went on a Saturday night for my partners birthday, all the food we had was lovely, staff are attentive and very reasonable price

Authentic Thai food from a 15 year expat and great staff and service.

Short stay in Ipswich for the night. Looked at places to eat and you cant go wrong with a Thai. Good location on a nice street (don't be put off if you walk past some empty houses). The welcome was great and we got a table straight away. 2 staff were working the restaurant which was vibrant but not to over busy. Served within good time, the food was good (maybe slightly salty for me) but good flavours. Crabmeat rice I really liked along with the Massaman curry. With tip it came to £70 for 4 drinks and meals, which is a standard price. Would recommend a visit if you wanted a quaint Thai restaurant for dinner.

The best taste I've had in the UK so far..I will always go back for more.

Tasty, delivered on time and food was not cold. As good as when in the restaurant. Can be expensive but you get quality.

Rice was old rice recooked least few times as it was bit hard (I have gained knowledge working in kitchen) and thai curry was very oily. Very low standard of food. Not worth the money I'm unsure why it gotten great reviews when it couldn't meet standard criteria of it being fresh. Wouldn't order again from there

TAKE AWAY REVIEW ONLY. This restaurant is outstanding when eating in. Awesome food and great service. But! Our experience on a takeaway left us feeling cheated & robbed. Ok the food tasted great but what we got for what we paid was shocking. Not alot for £41. Portion sizes are greater in the restaurant. In fact if the takeaway portion arrived on your table you'd complain & send it back!

Went with my partner recently, owner is very nice and friendly. I honestly didn’t expect the food to be as amazing as it was. By far one of the best restaurants in Ipswich. I had mixed starter platter and a spicy chicken dish. My partner had a coconut curry of some sort. Both so flavoursome. This honestly is my new favourite place to go for this type of food. Will 200% be back. I am in fact eating the left overs right now and still so delicious.

Kwan Thai is by far our favourite restaurant in Ipswich. The food quality is always incredible. We ordered for collection for the first time and the food will still perfect when we got back home. 100% always recommend this restaurant to everyone!

Really good Thai food at reasonable prices

Felt a bit rushed but we had a specified time slot so fair enough. Food wasn't great, the pad Thai and fish both tasted like burnt garlic... couldn't really eat it. Desserts were nice. The service was really fast and my family enjoyed their meals, maybe I was just unlucky!

I'm so disappointed I usually like the food from here but today everything was terrible. The Thai green curry was so salty and fishy, the chicken in it tasted old. I had to try to add my own coconut milk to try to improve it which didn't work. I don't know what went wrong here but I hope it was a one off because I usually enjoy the restaurant. The starters were cold.
