Kookaba Restaurant in Pembrokeshire

Went to Kookaba on a cold April evening, but it was still busy. The food was fabulous. I was in a party of 8, bit it still arrived in a timely manner. I had ostrich burger and a kangaroo burger, both well presented. Probably best book if you go in peak season or weekends.

Lovely meal for our anniversary. Free prosecco to celebrate. Food was great too. Good hosts.

Won't be going back.Personally I thought the food was over priced and not as great as what I heard. Service was very poor for the drinks..Waitress didn't have a clue about the wine. Waited for ever for the drinks and said are we ready for the starter. We said we haven't received our drinks yet..how can you forget about a table of 9.

Booked a table for half 7, after a few minutes it became clear they didn't have a table for us. After a little while they managed to squeeze us into a corner table where they promptly forgot about us. Waited for half an hour without even being brought a menu, genuinely felt like the staff were going out of their way to ignore us. They did take a drink order, which was wrong anyway. After half an hour we got up and went, the manager saw I leave and didn't even acknowledge us, probably relieved as they are clearly not equipped to deal with the amount of tables they have. Went to Periwinkle Bistro just round the corner where the staff were attentive, friendly, and the service was quick.

If you haven't already been then you must it's a fabulous place to go but I would certainly advise that you book especially in the summer the food is out of this world and lastnight was no exception from pizza to steak to burgers to kangaroo it's excellent all of the dishes are freshly prepared and all of the steaks and ribs are cooked over a live flame range a well stocked bar and the service is second to none from the moment you enter the establishment until you leave the service is fabulous I cannot recommend this place enough so go and see for yourself you won't be disappointed 👍

Went here last night, 4 of us. Food was excellent. The prawns in seaweed starter was absolutely delicious. Steaks were cooked to perfection 👌 Well done all. We will be back soon

Fabulous restaurant in the middle of Saundersfoot. Food was plentiful and tasty. Tastefully decorated and a good atmosphere. Definitely recommend.

Probably one of the best ribeye steaks I have ever had I must say.

Always told Kookaba was an amazing place to go, Service was on point throughout, food however to me wasn't worth the hype. If you're for generous portions vs Cost Then you'll be happy but the cooking was average. I had the Mixed grill and it was good, however the gammon and the steak was badly burnt on one side. My friend had one of the burgers and found the same issue. All of which was conveniently served burnt side down.

Went there for my daughters 18th, got to the table and they had a birthday balloon waiting for us, staff were amazing, even came out singing happy birthday with the cake I had put behind, food was amazing, thank you, really appreciate it

Great food cooked to our requests. Hugely satisfying portions. Great ambience with throwbacks to Oz greats on the soundtrack.

Great place and amazing food, very welcoming for families and lovely engaging staff. Great for meat lovers but caters for all, not overly expensive and quite relaxed. Highly recommended the steakado seasoning on the steaks, it's a salty peppery rub that adds tonnes of char to the meat without overcooking. The chilli addition to fries and potato skins could do with some flavour, but still nice nonetheless. Bravo 😎

My wife and I celebrated her birthday at The Kookaba, and it turned out to be an exceptional dining experience. We opted for starters and mains, forgoing dessert due to being pleasantly stuffed and anticipating cake at home (a wise decision in hindsight!) My wife decided on the stuffed potato skins, while I chose the short rib starter, which was not only tender but also impeccably cooked with a very generous sized portion for both. For our main courses, my wife ordered the skippy and steak combo, perfectly prepared to her liking. I, on the other hand, chose the skippy and fish option (Swordfish Steak), specifically requesting it to be cooked "blue," the way I prefer my steak. When it arrived, the presentation was good, and the steak with a beautifully seared exterior and a lusciously blue interior. However, a minor mishap occurred, as it was, in fact, a sirloin steak on my plate instead of skippy. Yet, I must emphasize that despite this honest mistake, the sirloin steak was cooked to absolute perfection, ranking among the best steaks I've ever had. (After eating a couple of mouthfuls before we noticed) I discreetly alerted the waitress to the mix-up, away from the bustling crowd of diners, to avoid any scene. The chef, to my surprise, was exceedingly apologetic, although it was entirely unnecessary. He promptly promised to prepare a skippy steak for me, which arrived shortly after I resumed my seat. To my astonishment, the chef insisted that I keep the originally served sirloin steak on my plate, with no extra charge for the additional skippy steak. The service at The Kookaba was nothing short of fantastic, with waitresses displaying impeccable manners. The establishment was impeccably clean and well-presented. The Staropramen beer I enjoyed was not only clean but also had a delightful taste. And when it comes to the food, it's difficult to find a word that adequately captures its excellence. The menu offered a wide array of choices, catering to various preferences, and we look forward to returning soon. I can't commend the chef enough for his exceptional service and the culinary perfection he consistently delivers. The Kookaba truly exceeded our expectations, and we can't wait to revisit this gem of a restaurant.

The food was ok not worth the money. The burger was cheap taste less the bread roll was soggy and tasteless. The onion rings were bland way too much batter. Not worth the hour journey down. Very disappointed

Had a great meal this evening in one of the hottest days of the year. Hats off to the chefs who stuck it out in the kitchen. We had 2 Seafood Platters and a couple of glasses of wine. Just what’s need after a stroll along Saundersfoot’s front beach. Highly recommended 👍😁.

Had a beautiful meal here on the evening of the Triathlon with visiting family. We didn't realise it was the Triathlon unfortunately until we tried to park in Saundersfoot. Parking was obviously non existent so one of our party had to forgo the meal. The staff were fine about it and when our missing guest managed to finally find a parking spot, the restaurant did not have an issue adding their meals on to the order late. Fantastic service for this and throughout the meal itself. Huge, plentiful portions and very reasonably priced. Great place to eat on Saundersfoot and will definitely return!!

Booked in advance, which was necessary during school hols! Good choice on the menu, something for everyone. Starters came out quickly, someone in our group chose a starter and fries as a main, which was really nicely presented. So much food!!! Very tasty, well cooked and plentiful. Some of the kids had desserts which they enjoyed. Friendly service, relatively pricey but not unreasonable.

You can’t go wrong at this place. The food is amazing and there’s plenty of it. Always busy, which is a good sign and the waiting staff are great. Been here a few times now and I’ll keep going back. There is a dessert on the menu, lemon tart with raspberry sorbet. Heaven on a plate, pure and simple.

Kookaba is an awesome restaurant, that serves delicious food in relevance to the price. The atmosphere is somehow special what we liked. I had „Skippy“, medium rare, and was very satisfied with the taste.

Wow!! What an amazing find, loved it. Wife and daughter both had the kangaroo steak and said it was awesome, and I had the best burger ever!! Definitely recommend and will be going back.

Good choice on menu, usual favourites plus plenty of Aussie fish and meat for those who want to try something different. Catered well for veggie and GF as well. Thanks for the great service as well Julie!

we were served by Holly and Simeon both were great servers, we had tweaked a meal multiple times and Holly still got the order completely correct. Simeon’s overall customer service was lovely, ready to get us any extras we needed from the kitchen. very helpful staff and delicious food, in good time too. well done.

Had such an amazing time in Kookaba. Me and my wife were on our honeymoon in Saundersfoot and went to Kookaba for one of our meals. The staff made it their mission to ensure we had the best time possible. Firstly, by decorating our table with a congratulations balloon and secondly, with bringing over a complimentary bottle of Prosecco to the table. If the night started off perfectly, it only got better once the food arrived. The portion sizes are insane. We had the outback rack (pork belly ribs) and the minted lamb. Both meals were cooked to perfection. We could not recommend Kookaba more, Julie and the rest of the Staff were amazing and they made our evening a night to remember forever. We will definitely be back!

hate to say this but when we came here a year ago it was fantastic , but we went there about 3 weeks ago and my steak meal was very average at best the chips were worst than a mucky dee , and my partner had a veggie meal and it was rough , sorry but dont like knocking places but the price of going out these days you should get better .

The best restaurant in Saundersfoot jonny is the best chef and everything was tailored to our needs. I had a Muslim company where needed halal meat which he ordered in to suit. Beautiful as always. Love it there! Can't recommend enough!
