You’re always a bit nervous about trying restaurants when travelling, but this restaurant surpassed expectations, service was friendly, personable and professional, nice touch with the complimentary rice balls as an amouse bouche, the food was well cooked and extremely tasty… Didn’t catch the ladies name who served us! I am not a big sushi fan, but the menu was very comprehensive, and I found lots to choose from. Each course came not too fast or slow; we liked it so much that we shared everything. The wine was chilled nicely, and the Japanese cocktails were lovely. The front-of-house girl was very friendly I will let the pictures do the rest of the talking.

Friendly staff but the food a ramen dish was served not particularly hot and soon cooled, reheated chicken should be served at least 80 degrees cenigrade. I will not be eating here again. I assume this was a frozen dish heated in a microwave, certainly not freshly made.

I should take more time to do Google reviews, especially since we have a plethora of really nice restaurants within a ten minute walk of our house. I like to start with the service, Koku Shi is friendly and welcoming with exceptionally well trained staff. We are regular visitors but we observe everyone getting the same consistent friendly and welcoming service. The food is really tasty, generous portion size and everything clearly made to order, it should not disappoint. Atmosphere, is built upon the attentive staff, with background music not too loud you cannot have conversation. Definitely worth a visit if you fancy something different.

Delicious. Good prices for fresh food and local. Totally love the staff and the menu. They take allergies seriously and will work around them when possible. Even saw the chef go to Tesco's for fresh ingredients. 100% must sit down and try their food. Especially their fried rice. Holy moly <3 I am one happy customer with this establishment.

Lovely selection of food. Arrived in a timely fashion, fresh and a good temperature. Husband is lactose intolerant and was able to have a gorgeous dessert for the first time in 15 years. Friendly without being overbearing. All round enjoyable experience.

Unfortunately would not offer us a table as we walked in at 8 minutes past 8

I love kokoshi. I can get gluten free food and it's always great. I love the agedashi. There's always different things on the menu to try. If you're looking for Japanese food I would definitely give it a go.

Booked table for two the day before and had no problem arranging this arrived to find the place busy but not packed The staff as always were attentive and polite stopping to have a little chat on the way past and giving us time to look at and decide what we wanted to try Not long after we finished our starter we had ordered a selection of Sushi The power to the whole street went out leaving us in darkness the staff didn’t panic they just arrived at the tables and set up candles to give some light And confirmed due to no power they couldn’t complete any hot meals but the kitchen staff pulled out the stops to provide sushi to those that had already ordered it The Sushi arrived looking and tasting wonderful as always even with the lack of much light The staff kept checking with everyone still in the restaurant they were ok and couldn’t have done more tbh how they handled everything this evening with it being outside of their control is just another reason why I’ll keep going back

Brilliant service, as usual, is lovey food and even with a power cut on Carnegie Drive, which wasn't their fault, obviously. Wonderful staff made sure we were well looked after. We will be back!

Dropped in here for lunch today, not familiar with this type of food so it was a bit of shot in the dark. Fortunately it turned out very well indeed. Couldnt beleive how well the food tasted and the fact it also looked the part really helped. Would definately recommend a visit and will certainly be back. Cant wait to work my way through the menu!

We used to be regulars here but feel that between staff and the menu, it's really went downhill. Prices have went up but you now get less than previously - cost cutting measure? If it's good or not clearly depends on the chef on shift so it's a gamble everytime we're in. The new menu isn't very nice and in particular, the "sweet" sushi is awful. Sometimes there's good music on, but theres been a few times where there's no music playing at all. It's so inconsistent! Don't think we'll be back for a while, if at all.

Spent a lovely evening here having a soup, Japanese curry, vegi tempura, a donburi and a poke bowl. Myself and my partner loved it. Felt very healthy and fresh. Given we were here for a dave gorman gig and were looking for a evening meal, this was a great find and would recommend it.

Went for dinner, ordered the pork ramen and chicken katsu. Food was excellent, ramen broth was fantastic and chicken in the katsu curry was perfectly cooked and flavorful. Staff were super friendly and accommodating, and the atmosphere of the place was enjoyable. Would definitely go there again for food and look forward to trying their bubble tea and lunch Bento boxes.

Was a recommendation from a friend, and we were in high expectations for ‘the best ramen he ever had’. Well, it took a little while wait for our food and they were well presented. However I have to say they were not that impressed. The soup base was so light, and for some reason the chef like to use Japanese pickled gingers to deco the bowl where in our food it took over the main favour way too much. The ramen itself wasn’t great either, it tastes like egg noodle rather than ‘ramen noddles’ you normally get, very hard, close to ‘undercook’ I must to say. The yakitori was nice though. All in all, it wasn’t something worth 20 plus quids each. Very disappointed.

Literally couldn’t finish the sushi we ordered because it was bland & warmish. Meh.

I don't have a single bad thing to say about this place or the staff. Their food is PHENOMENAL, full of flavor, fresh ingredients, patient and wonderful staff and they're more than happy to make adjustments to your allergies. I've never felt so welcome and at home than in this restaurant. The ambiance is stunning, the temperature was never too cold or too warm, the smells are mouth-watering and the portions are more than fair for the price. They should be way more popular than they already are. I hope this amazing establishment remains open forever! If I could give this more than 5 stars, I would. Keep being amazing! ♥

Had better chicken katsu for half the price. Chicken was overcooked and dried out.

The food was delicious but very pricey, £77 for a lunch for 2 adults 1child is a bit much. If they had a lunch deal I would be a regular.

Bit over priced for what we had

The interior is really nice but everything else struggled to match. The food is expensive when compared to anything in Glasgow or Edinburgh and the quality wasn't up the the prices being asked. My pad Thai was blatantly reheated leaving me with burnt chewy chicken and slimy noodles. The others had ramen which had burnt pork but at least the broth was nice.

An exquisitely presented Japanese meal. Each dish was enjoyed by the group.

The customer service was excellent. The sushi wasn’t consistent, for example two of the salmon sushi I ordered don’t have salmon on it. Wouldn’t recommend the ramen since they use machine made egg noodles rather than handmade noodles. I’d expect something higher quality since the food is pricey.

Well. This place need some attention, if they want to be real Japanese restaurant. Place looks clean and fancy with annoying hiphop/R&B music. We order drinks first. Simple think. Earl grey tea and juice. My wife she expect to get something like tea pot with boiling water or maybe (Kyūsu). But she only got tea cup with boiling water and tea bag on the side. Never seen that before :))) but. OK. Let's keep going. For a starter we ordered plate of hosomaki, and for main course Pork Belly Ramen. After while we get the Sushi. And that's was really poor made. Even looks like some amateur made that. Rice was overcooked and tasteless. Nori was queit dry and chewy. Ok...now Ramen.. :))). I'm big fan of Ramen...so that's was nice surprise when i seen Pork Belly ramen on the menu. Right... About Pork Belly Chashu. That's supposed to be rolled pork belly, boiled and carmelized, then cutted in slice. Pork Belly wasn't almost carmelized, but the worse think was. The Chef, he just pour all fat after carmelization straight to the broth. And that just give us a thick layer of oil on the top. It's a shame. Because the broth was really nice and tasty. Really salty as well but... Tasty :). Ramen is about the noodles as well. They was tasty too. Just wish to have bit more of them. Ingredients suppose to lay down on the noodles, but because wasn't many of them. They just drowned. My wife finished all noodles with ingredients, didn't finish the broth (too salty). And still was almost a full bowl of broth. Ok let's pay the bill and run. I got my bill and card reader to my hand. And there is the best part. Waiter told me to tap on the reader. How much i want to pay :))). Well i just copied value from the bill. Sorry guys but no tip. I highly recommend to see Japanese comedy movie about Ramen " Tampopo". You can learn a lot about cooking.

Lovely setting and quick service. Katsu bowls were delicious, highly recommend the haggis and halloumi ones, gyoza were a bit too well fired tho. Tasty meal and reasonable prices all in.

Friendly staff and fantastic food, and to make it even better they don't sell alcohol, but you can go across the road to Tesco and bring your own beer and wine with no problems. Went again in August, exactly the same, everything was fantastic, I wish I could give them another five star rating. £30 off the bill helped as well. 01-05-22 update. Still fantastic food and service, they now sell alcohol.

We were there for 12pm, but it took ten minutes to get our drinks as “they weren’t ready yet” apart from that, this place is great, the food is AMAZING! Every few months we come to Dunfermline and normally we go to Wagamama or Yo Sushi when we go to Edinburgh…..now, no need! Kiki-shi is better, much more choice in the menu and plenty of vegan dishes.

A home delivery : First time eating Japanese food and certainly won't be the last. Delicious is an understatement. Food was freshly made and plentiful There was a missing starter but restaurant resolved quickly and efficiently. Delivery time was spot on Will definitely order again
