Kings Yard in Aberdeenshire

Such a cute Micropub! Sam, the landlord, arranged a retirement ‘do’ for me in the upstairs function room, with drinks, a platter of pork pie/sausage rolls/chutney and a generous cheeseboard, which everyone enjoyed. The feedback from my guests was entirely positive!

Excellent beers and great atmosphere. This is a small venue serving a great selection of ales. There isn’t a huge amount of seating but this creates a really nice friendly feel. We dropped in here for the first time on a Friday night, loved it, and stayed for the rest of the night. Definitely on our radar now. Friendly staff too. All good.

Dropped on this absolute gem today whilst travelling through to Shrewsbury for the day. Absolutely 10/10 beer and food. Highly recommend you stop by for a cob and a pint!

It's a little gem. Populated by people that enjoy a proper cask and craft beer. Friendly owner and staff. Chatty locals. All in the two floors of a former shop. It's a micro pub so you don't get meals. However the butties and pie bar snacks are, fresh, tasty and of excellent quality. Situated between a chippy and kebab shop doesn't sound inviting but , trust me, sat outside laughing with strangers while sharing a bag of chips and drinking some of the best kept beer around is a fun way to spend a summer evening. One top tip for the owner.. sweep the front area every day. Just for the look of the place.

Met a few other good ale drinking friends in here on a Friday evening at 7pm, it was busy and bustling with a good selection of keg ales on the back wall and 4 cask handpulls on the front of the bar. Staff were quick and efficient in serving and looked happy to see you. We sat upstairs which filled up as we supped a couple. Now the best bit was we went for a curry 2 doors away and we could take our beers with us, we came back for one more during our curry too. Finished off the evening back in there leaving at 10.30 (closing time) A brilliant addition to Shifnal, keep up the good work.

After a lovely walk through fields into shifnal we headed to the Kings Yard for liquid refreshment. Great atmosphere. Felt welcome even though not been before. Super ale and cider. Thoroughly recommend. Adam was a super host

Love the Kings Yard. We went there for the first time a few months ago. The selection of beer is very acceptable indeed and the hot food (lunchtimes only) was great. We try and travel up from Birmingham when we have a chance. They always have cobs, and who doesn't love a cob...? Sam was such a friendly host and was very happy to chat and recommend some beers for us. 10/10, would go drink again

Popped in with a couple of local mates from shifnal and I have to say, what a great little gem this place is. It’s a former retail unit so the Ground floor isn’t huge - but it has that feeling of always being at least half full. Very welcoming atmosphere in a pub. Beer was excellent and the landlord knows his craft. There is a first floor incidentally so plenty of seating if needed upstairs!

Great food, the jalapeño burger was the best I've had!! Lovely little place with friendly helpful staff. Highly recommend 👌

Fantastic choice of beers on tap and lovely food. The staff are also very welcoming, looking forward to my return visit.

We stopped at this micro pub on our way to Llangollen hoping for a decent quality light lunch and a choice of good quality ales - we were not disappointed. The owners were welcoming and really accommodating. It’s small with a menu to match but we enjoyed our visit.

We have been here a couple of times now and each time it gets better and better, the owner Adam even remembers you. His staff are all friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Excellent selection of real ales and gins amongst all other drinks. The atmosphere makes it!!! Hurry up Adam and open a chain as you deserve everything you have achieved so far! Already planning our return next week.

We Went in for drinks yesterday owner Adam and other member of staff were very friendly and helpful with choices of beers. Upon such excellent beers a decent pork pie and good feel in the place we went back in today samples some more excellent beers and had a beef sandwich and cheese & onion sandwich Both were good as was the side of chips. Always friendly people in there and we will definitely be back again soon.

Such a great little pub . We were there last Friday with friends who live local and our USA friends and they loved it The local beer is good as is the wine

A great little pub with fabulous beers! The cobs are amazing - try the Cheese and Onion or the Corned Beef! Adam the owner is an absolute star and Kat is brilliant! If you haven’t tried it and you like HPA, Butty Batch and any other IPA you must try them!

Friendly staff, great venue for a quiet meal with friends and a drink, dog friendly, inexpensive, overall, worth a return.

Good ales available but it's so small you can't really fit in. If you try upstairs they often rent that to private parties. Also, been in twice and they allow people to bring in fish and chips from next door which is not great tbh

This great micro pub has a constantly evolving range of fab beers and ales served by staff who know their stuff. Highly recommended.

What a wonderful drinking gem in shifnal ! We had missed our train and needed a quick drink before the next one. We were greeted with a warm welcome. It’s a lovely place, decorated tastefully, clean and fresh! Will defo be back and recommend !

Large selection of tinned beers, small selection of real ales, of the four available all was excellent. Our only criticism is they without warning withdrew dog's welcome policy, I assume they have good reasons? So no more quiet afternoon pint after walking dog in this...
