I came in after working a shift in the NHS. Just to be refused a drink I haven't had a drink. I ask why I was being refused and they said they did not have to give a reason. I take it is because I'm Irish.

I visited this pub with my wife and was shocked by the run down state of the pub now. It was filthy, smelt of urine and the toilets were filthy. My beer glass got stuck to the bar. The pub is in desperate need of a makeover compared to a few years back.

First visit after a few years (and now our last). What a shame. This used to be great pub full of real ale, with a good pub feel. Now just a sad shell of a pub with no vibe. No hand pumps just Abbott Ale (so no hand pumps). Went with my 28 year old daughter (manager of various entertainment venues across London and ex pub manager) who was asked for ID by the barman (we felt that we weren't welcome by this point) so we decided to leave as there was no beer suitable anyway.

A friendly, unpretentious and laid back pub on Leyton High Road. We went to try out the Greek street food from ‘Bread and Oregano’ and were impressed by the quality and value for money. The pitas/souvlaki were delicious and the Greek salad was so big we couldn’t finish it, all at very good prices especially when compared to other pubs in the area. The staff are very nice too.

Good, unpretentious, local pub. Beers are great value and the staff are lovely. Pool table and sport excellent. Sunday roast did not hit the mark for £15.50. The beef was tasty, tender and good quality but I only got two very small slices. The three small roast potatoes on my plate tasted tray scorched/burnt oil. Gravy tasted like Bisto. It felt a bit stingy and overpriced. More spuds and better gravy would have me coming back for more and recommending to my friends.

We were on our way to see the mighty Orient take on the stuttering Stevenage - Saturday lunch - warm welcome - beer served - retreated to our table to study the menu - easy choices as it was a pre-footie lunch - 2 of us went for the filthy fries - whilst the third went for the more healthy option of the rainbow fries - largish portions - hot to the table - well seasoned - tasty with a chilli kick - very satisfying - friendly service - washed down with another pleasant pint - well priced - overall a good start - pity about the match!!! Thank you

This is our local and I am so happy because it is by far the best pub in the arear. The William has that proper london pub vibe, the staff are lovely and the beer selection is awesome! They have recently bought in 'El Food Brothers' to do the food and its the icing on the cake. I’m yet to have a proper meal but all the nibbly bits have been delicious. There is also a cute outside arear so great when the sun shines. They have the sports showing but this shouldn’t put you off, it isn’t intrusive and gives a great atmosphere when there is a big game on. Love this pub!

Visited the pub for Sunday roast as it is our local, yet we'd never been in. The vegetarian roast and trimmings was very tasty, as was the baked cookie pudding and the pub had a welcoming atmosphere, despite screening football it was not intrusive. The toilets could do with a refurb, but we'll certainly visit again.

I used to live in the area 12 years ago and this was one of my favourite local pubs. Having not visited for several years I wasn't sure what to expect when I dropped in last week. I'm delighted to say it was as good as ever. I didn't eat so cant speak for the food but the selection of beers was excellent as was the quality of the 3 I sampled. Buzzy, pleasant atmosphere and a really friendly welcome from the staff. Well done!!

We went for the Sunday roast and watch football. The chicken and pork were very tasty served with great fresh homemade yorkshire puds, roast potatoes, gravy and lovely braised cabbage with roast carrot. Fish and chips were not on the menu but they did this for our daughter who really enjoyed it, and especially the fresh baked warm cookie with ice cream for dessert. We will return for the food again and not just for the footie. Pub recently refurbished, and kitchen now visible in the back room, and pub looks great.

We had gone here for lunch a couple of weeks ago and it was superb, the food was excellent the staff very friendly and helpful. So we decided to make a return trip on Sunday, the food was not even average it was very poor, when we mentiond that the roast beef was inedible, backed up by what was left on the plate, the waiter, who I had to ask to clear the plates, commented that he was sorry about that, No mention of perhaps we could give you a dessert or something to compensate.

How noisy can a pub be at 8.00 o’clock, had a meeting with friends that we hadn’t seen for a while and had to leave because of the noise although we asked on numerous ocasiones if they could lower the volume

Basic but very clean rooms. Made to feel very welcome and the locally brewed ales is a bonus. Only 20-25 mins into central London. We would definitely stay again.

British, very british.
