Khobkhun Thai Restaurant in Forest Heath

Another great evening here with friends. This must have been the third or fourth time we've met up here and not been disappointed yet. Food arrives promptly and is very tasty. Good range available on the menu and service is friendly and not intrusive. Cost is very reasonable too! Will definitely be here again for our next get-together.

We come back to this restaurant again,as good as always, never disappointed best Thai restaurant. Very enjoyed it. Definitely come back.

Update. ALL reviews on Just Eat are gone and the restaurant is listed as new! Under new management? This used to be our go to Thai. Never again will I order. Food was absolutely vile. And tiny portions to boot. For the price you would be better ordering from McDonalds. The tempura veg wasn’t tempura. Thick gloopy oil sodden batter to try and bulk out the rather pitiful veg that was hidden. The ribs were full of fat and inedible. Looked boiled then griddled last minute. The prawn toasts were ok. But for over £7. No. All the starters are no longer in containers. Now delivered in foil lined bags. So the starters sweat in their own grease. Nice. Needed 10 minutes in the oven on a rack just to render the grease out. Dipping sauce pots were 1/4 full. The beef stir fry Pad gra pao was also awful. God knows what beef this was as it was completely inedible. Sauce was ok if slightly oily. Panang prawns was ok. Predominant taste was coconut milk. 6 medium size prawns for £13.25? No. Total rip off. We ordered some separate plain noodles. 1/3 of container full. Dry as a bone. £4.70? I’ve no idea what’s happened to this restaurant. It was the best in Newmarket. Obviously under new direction and trying to recoup lost Covid pounds. Such a shame. My advice is avoid at all costs. Don’t waste your hard earned money. 1/10.

Wow, this place is amazing. Food is incredibly tasty and the team always get it right. It amazes me they don't even use a pen and paper to remember orders! Love to eat here as a couple, and also for a family treat.

I could only take a picture of an empty plate, as that’s how good the food is here. I would definitely come back just for the food and service. I had a starter fish cakes & sweetcorn fritters outstanding. The mains was a very nice portion and so tasty I have no lips left from licking them so much. 10/10 well done to the chef and service.

My friend 35 birthday party. Was wonderful decoration by staff. We have welcome drink plush prawn crackers fir free. Our mix starter cook fresh and yummy. Our set menu of main courses come with Pad Thai prawns, Spicy steam fish, Som tam Thai salad and few more. Staff professional service. Thank you very much for our special day. We will come back

Had a takeaway tonight for the first time from here and the food was amazing, food was well packed as I had an hour journey from Newmarket to north essex and the food was still hot when I got home. Lovely staff all very friendly will definitely be returning with the fiancée as she was really impressed with the food too. Cheers The fire engineer 👍

The restaurant was very quiet but the food was very nice. Service was good. Shame it was quiet as it lacked some atmosphere but in general it was good Thai food.

No wonder this place is empty, vegetarian options are very limited basically non-existent. The staff do not even know what’s available for vegetarians on their own menu. The menu mentions vegetables, when you order all options are not available. Very very disappointing.

Lovely little place that we found by accident. Food was great and service was brilliant. A little bit of Thailand 🇹🇭 in the middle of newmarket, we will definitely be going back and is well worth a visit 😀

I’ve been going here for many years and it’s sad to witness its decline. Both food and service are now lacking and even prawn crackers tasteless! Hopefully it will regain its mojo but will give it a miss for a while…..

Excellent food and service, had the place to myself (the joys of eating out in January), service was friendly without being over the top. Food was served up quickly without being pre made. Taste was high price was low. Can't ask for anything more. I will be back next time I'm in Newmarket.

Restaurant has gone downhill so badly since new owners have taken over. Such a shame, last few times that we have been here, the food standard is so low, food is too greasy, meat is dry and bland. A real disappointment for our nye takeaway meal.

Take away review. We have used this restaurant for Thai take away for years and sadly will be no more. Something has changed drastically. Food was tasteless and unappetising and received claggy boiled rice instead of jasmine. Quality has gone from here which is a shame. It's not cheap, but happy to pay for quality. Which this no longer is.

Very nice Thai authentic food, starter was superb, main course also delicious, good atmosphere warm welcome service.

The food was terrible .my atom yum was vegetable stock with a bit of chilli ....no galangal, lemongrass or shrimp... No alternative or replace ment offered .I went home hungry. The softshell crab was smothered in a sweet sauce....ruined. wine expensive set b menu fo 2 small portion heavy on chilli lacking in Thai flavours Do not bother go to Thai Strret cafe or Rose and Mango . Shocked, appalled and hung having paid a bill of over £ 112 for 3 people......

We had a meal out with the four of us and decided on Khobkhun. Excellent choice. The restaurant looks authentic, the service is very friendly and the food is authentic and excellent at the same time. The plate of mixed starters was good, the curries and stir fries as mains were great with the dessert of nun banana and banana fritter also not disappointing. That all washed down with a Singha and a bottle of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. An excellent evening out.

I visited this restaurant on my own as I was in town for business. The food was ok nothing wowed me but it was nice. The service was quick. The wine was not nice. I left it!

I don't really leave a review but the food here is amazing! The dishes taste like you are actually in Thailand but with absolutely fantastic quality! Worth the 30min drive for a lovely dinner with kids. The service is great, from booking flexibility and availability to table service. Not to mention, we used Tastecard and they are quite relaxed about it. The red curry, tom yum (chicken and mushroom), the prawn pad Thai, and the chicken satay are all nicely made! I found joy in every dish. Please have a branch in Trumpington 🥹

Restaurant is a bit of a hidden gem. The service was really good. Managed to accommodate us at short notice. Food was really delicious.

Based on a recommendation from a local family we chose Khobkhun over other Thai restaurants in Newmarket. Within 5 minutes drinks were served and orders taken. I had the traditional shrimp pad Thai and my partner had chicken Pad Kra Pao. My noodles were perfectly flavored and seasoned (fish sauce delicious) and I asked for two additional shrimp. (Four are normal per serving. The six matched my expectations for the shrimp to noodle ratio!) Upcharge was £2. The chicken had a smooth even spice heat and the al la carte garlic rice portion was flavorful and generous. Service was swift and attentive; the staff genuinely concerned about diner satisfaction.

Easy to order, friendly, efficient and really really nice food. Couldn’t fault it. Thoroughly recommend.

Ordered take away 12 people picked up meals only half mile away, got meal home one dish short and told them said they would deliver it. Half an hour later phoned to ask how much longer it would be said there would find out after another ten minutes still no news, rang to say we pick it up. Picked it up and ask if they compensate for one of guest missing their meal reluctantly their agreed. Everybody makes mistakes but then try their hardest to make up for it but no here.

Lovely little place. Quick response to online booking in confirming the table. We were the only guests on arrival at 7.30pm, but others soon joined. Amazing curry dishes - the prawn Thai curry was incredible! Service was excellent, setting cute and felt relaxed. The guy in front of house could have been a little warmer and made a better impression and welcome, it felt out of place to the great service and food otherwise. The only point for improvement, would certainly return. Thank you for having us.

We have been regular visitors to Khobkun Thai Restaurant for many years, under three different ownerships. Our latest visit was in May 2023, not having visited Newmarket during the Covid years. The quality of the food was excellent, in fact the best it has ever been. The new owner and host, Sumalee, was welcoming and engaging and we enjoyed great service all evening.

Absolutely lovely food and great staff nice and friendly atmosphere , went as a big group and really enjoyed it and will definitely go again and also will order takeout to be delivered.

Having booked the restaurant over 6 weeks in advance for Valentines, we arrive to find there was no table in our name. After their initial panic they did find us a table. Things just were not good. Having eaten here on many occasions over the last years this is the worst meal we have had here. the mixed started was luke warm, the sea bass grey looking. having delivered lovely warm plates for the main course it was a good 5 mins before the first main dishes arrived, they were luke warm before the rice and vegetables arrive. Poor service, poor quality food, expensive for what we had Not a good experience, I really doubt we will be back,

5*s for food. Really fresh, flavour full and brilliant portions! Even with a few members of staff, one waitress was serving / preparing drinks and running orders. It was a shame the other staff didn't join in to help as it made service slow. But, I can't fault the food, or the waitress who was actually working very hard!

Small Thai restaurant but full of a welcoming ambience. Food quality is always good. Quantity and portion are proportional and plentiful. Many parking spaces nearby. Staffs are friendly. Recommend for people living in the area.

Decided to try the Sunday buffet as an introduction to this restaurant but despite hours on the door and website stating it opens on Sundays, the restaurant was closed. Judging by the answerphone light we could see flashing through the door, there was no point...

One of the worst Thai meals we’ve ever had. We ordered a set menu for 2. (£22.95 each) The mixed Thai starter platter was the standard fried bits you usually get. No description of them or the accompanying sauces …hmmm Mains… fried sea bass…. Not...

We ate here based on excellent reviews. Slightly perplexed. We eat thai food a lot and have been to thailand multiple times. This isnt fresh, tasty cooking. This is warmed up pre cooked beige food which is overly sweet. My partners beef dish stank and tasted of fish sauce. On pros, excellent service, nice staff and seemed pretty clean.

My husband and I visited this restaurant during our stay in Newmarket for a few days last week and what a superb restaurant. The staff were very welcoming and helpful especially as I have an allergy to garlic, but they made the dish I wanted without it.
