Very nice coffee and nice pastries, but it is pricey for what is offered.

Barista was rude and didn’t take allergen seriously. We went in for a coffee and when we noticed they sold loaves of bread we asked if any of the bread was vegan, the barista scoffed and rudely replied ‘it’s bread’ as if we were asking a stupid question. After a bit of back and forth of us trying to find out if any of it was vegan and her being very blunt and unhelpful she said ‘yeah I guess it’s vegan, it’s bread’. It was clear she didn’t know whether it was vegan and had no intention of finding out, so we left.

You have to try the Cardamom buns, with a bit of butter, delicious! Great coffee. Great staff. Lovely and chilled out for my Sunday morning treat.

Visited on a Friday evening as part of the Økende lates offer and I was really impressed by the quality of ingredients, excellent natural wines and service. The venue was also superbly transformed from the usual coffee shop vibe to a more relaxed environment.

Regularly buy my coffee from here to take home. Great quality with a changing selection of single origin beans. Would recommend for those who are fans of nice coffee. Pastries great, bread is quality too.

Friendly staff great coffee & bakes!

Staff not friendly at all. Bought a small latte for over £4 and had to leave it as it was horrible. Had a beery taste to it. Not pleasant at all.

They've hit the simplistic sterile environment perfectly. Simplic, basic, clean. Quite an attractive establishment. Shame it translates in their coffee as well. Offering no syrups and charging for alternative milks, whilst served in a 5oz glass (for cold) is a joke tbh (even hot coffee is served in a half size mug). Whilst charging more than any basic chain. Seriously, what are you doing... The taste was bitter and strange, similar to their replies to bad reviews. Didn't try the food, but feel bad for the pasty chef (if it's made on site) as the only good reviews seem to mention this aspect. Staff were cold, lacking any social interaction at all, despite helping them with the door when bringing in stock. Really wanted to like it. But after reading the reviews, seems pretty unanimous. Clearly have no respect for their customer base unless they have something positive to say. Couldn't wait to leave.

A business gets called out for having poor Vegan options and charging extra for non dairy milk and the response is to publicly shame them on their social media and encourage their customers to hunt those people down? Should be ashamed of yourselves.

Simply love the coffee here, probably the most accomplished in Nottinghamshire, or dare I say it the East Midlands. Genuinely very - very - good coffee, by people who genuinely care about it.

I have been coming to this coffee shop semi regularly since it opened. The coffee is always great quality and their rotation on espresso keeps things fresh. As a coffee dabbler, it’s great to have excellent coffee at your doorstep. The baked goods are excellent, the new malted milk chocolate cookies are awesome. I didn’t get a photo of it as I ate it too quickly

Absolute love this place and it's my go to coffee shop in West Bridgford. I'm yet to try the city centre shop, but I'm sure it's just as good. The coffee is spot on and the cardamon buns are amazing 👌

Had the most wonderful coffee and breakfast with my daughter. The cardamom buns were her favourite but the scrambled egg takes a lot to be beaten. Awesome atmosphere and service was simply superb. Can not recommend highly enough!

poor vegan options and overpriced coffee that wasn’t dialled in correctly. charging for oat milk is a big no no in this day and age. shame because it has good potential. update - don't leave a review because you’ll get name and shamed on their socials. this is highly unprofessional that they can’t take criticism and deal with it in the correct manner. seems like they’re almost as bitter as their coffee 😶

Worst service, no smile. Didn't enjoy the tea was thrown in the bin after a min sips. Coffee was okay but just okay. The 2 men are as rude, need to learn the value of the customer what ever background you are! 🙄

Visit to the area, went here on the recommendation of my partner. Immediately enjoyed the furniture, the interior and the whole vibe of the place. Felt like an experience to be proud of. The menu seemed minimal, but this normally means what's offered is really good, so I wasn't worried. Bakery bits looked amazing, a little pricey though. Ordering was easy, but the staff member didn't seem to happy, almost felt like we'd interrupted something. Whereas, when we went to 200 Degrees later that day, the place was packed but the staff still smiled and had a chat. We sat outside on the cool furniture. I ordered a tea, the other half ordered a coffee. As tea goes, it was on the higher end of prices being over £3, so I'd expected a tea pot (a reasonable expectation). When the drinks came out, this is when things became slightly uncomfortable. The staff member plonked the drinks down with almost no warmth, eye contact, or conversation. This continued as she came back with sugar. The door also slammed which added to the dramatic effect. Unfortunately, the tea was the worst tea I've ever had. No exaggeration. The cup was on top of the glass of tea (no teapot, but a glass coffee container), causing me to worry about dust on the bottom of the cup falling into the beverage. Condensation will also drip on your lap if you're not careful. The tea itself, enough for 1.5 small cups, was very underdone, and sadly the teabag removed (why?) so I was unable to steep it to taste. This meant my tea looked and tasted like dirty puddle water. The coffee my partner had seemed better. Still in a very small cup, but pleasant to drink. The experience of the lady rudely bringing the drinks out and the pitiful tea made it less enjoyable for us both. It's worth mentioning that he said when he came last, it was much better with different staff. I won't be returning, however. Thank you.

Criminally sour coffee drank upon sticky dirty tables. Plus imagine the sheer amount of breath that lands on the counter bakes!!

Relaxed independent coffee place

Lovely coffee it's always worth a stop. Bakery is nice as well, with the cardamom bun being my preferred option. Overall the nicest coffee experience in the area, but is more expensive than other cafes. It is dog friendly.

i thought that the environment was quite sterile due to the harsh lighting and not sure if the staff were having a bad day, but they weren’t very welcoming :( the coffee was nice but the food left much to be desired. overpriced for quite a small portion, eggs were overcooked and the rostis were stringy and oily. honestly quite disappointed.

The cinnamon bun I ordered was hard and burnt. As this was a takeaway order, it was too late to let them know, and since it was covered in sugar it wasn’t clear to see either. On the other hand, another time I came in the cardamom bun was totally undercooked and almost gooey.

A particularly enjoyable experience at ØKENDE. Regularly visit for their coffee (both their espresso and pour over some of the best in West Bridgford). Brunch was delicious too - fluffy and flavourful scrambled eggs on top of delicious sourdough toast. Basque cheesecake was also excellent. Staff always friendly and very knowledgable about coffee. Will continue to regularly visit - our favourite coffee shop in South Nottingham!

The coffee here is excellent. Great service and love the minimalist interiors. Slightly more expensive than the average coffee shop but worth it for the quality of coffee served.

Given this 5 in the past.. Unfortunately after my latest visits there ( and I have been many times) I have noticed that the hygiene has dropped massively. If you walked in, you will see that the floor is barely cleaned and also the food available on the counter is always exposed- leading to a lot of flies sitting on. Sorry guys, I used to love this place

I’m lactose intolerant and end up paying more for the privilege! All coffee shops do this now and they have to turn a profit but charges should be minimal. Great atmosphere and lovely staff.

Awesome spot, understaffed in the mornings which is a real shame as the staff were run ragged and stressed out, could all be resolved with an extra pair of hands up front dishing out the brews.

I love Økende, both the café and the provisions shop. The premises/decor are clean-cut, simple, stylish, and contemporary, the produce is excellent, the playlist relevant, and the people are switched on. It reminds me of the cafés and bakeries that we use in London. It's really nice to find this type of modern metropolitan experience in a pleasant suburb of Nottingham

Walk to the outskirts of town. Sat down at a very sticky table. Was ignored by a blonde lady who seemed to have the arrogance of an owner and then let down by the kitchen bieng closed. Such a shame as I read reviews and planned this for my breakfast. I'm now sat at No8 Deli with good coffee and good food.

Amazing coffee, really interesting blends and different to what you'll get elsewhere. The staff are lovely too and make great coffee. The range of cakes and so on is always changing and they're baked in house. If only they made Snegl buns!

An interesting place with a minimalist design. The food was great and the coffee was good. The inside was quite hot, even though it wasn't an especially warm day. But I sat outside and that was fine; the furniture was the same as the inside and very comfortable. I'd have given it four stars but I've knocked off another for demanding no smoking outside (even though there were no 'No Smoking' signs and there was plenty of space between each table). If you can't enjoy a small smoke with your morning coffee, what's the point?! Otherwise, a decent experience. There are better places on the Avenue.

Never visited before but meeting a friend and thought we’d try here. Doubt I’ll go back. Ordered a latte and asked for extra hot. Delivered in a small cup slightly bigger than the water glass which incidentally the size I have for my toddlers and was a tad extra hot but within two sips it was cold!! Plus not great coffee flavour either considering it’s not a chain. Asked for honey but was told they only have sugar which is no biggie but given golden caster sugar which I found odd. Had to move tables because the table was wobbly but as we moved, was advised all the tables wobble. Would it be so hard to take a screwdriver to them once a week??? Clearly it would be. I Ordered sourdough toast which came with one 50p size pat of butter and again had to ask for more. 4 staff available and after serving some of them were eating in full view of customers. Found that odd but maybe that’s how it is. Dogs in and not sat quietly and unfortunately I’m not a huge fan of wet dog smell or dogs that are unable to sit at one’s feet inside a restaurant of any kind. Like the bleakness of the decor but bleak all over in my opinion. 1 star was too high. The customer service is lacking, no attention to detail and a 2 litre milk (even organic) is £2.20 or so, so £3.30 for a child’s size latte is just ridiculous. Harsh but very very disappointed.

Not impressed overall. Waited 20 minutes in a queue of only 5 people. The front of house service was nice and friendly but the female barista (short blonde hair) was taking a very leisurely approach. Frustrating standing waiting for a coffee with the barista having a clear lack of urgency. Asked for extra hot and it was somewhat hot, no doubt the coffee is good but their service and customer satisfaction needs improvement.

Always have delicious food and coffee here, fairly priced for the quality of it. All seating is outdoors at the moment, and it's a really nice experience.

Everything about this tiny independent coffee shop is spot on. It has a super fresh, perhaps stark, Nordic look with tables outside. The coffee is a flavorful, slightly spiced, blend and the milk is always spot on. Microfoam, with no large bubbles, glossy and silky, poured with crisp and defined patterns. Their baking is just lovely, cardamom buns are my favourite, but I can also be tempted by their cheesecakes and Spanish custard tarts. The whole experience screams attention to detail and they do what they do well. A+

Relaxed and friendly atmosphere, delicious coffee that is fruity and filled with flavour. Cakes are very very good (especially the brownie). The staff here are some of the nicest people you could meet and go above and beyond.

Excellent coffee from La Cabra!!! I had a flat white with Brazilian origin! Although, I am not a fan of very steamed milk! I like the milk to be warm, not hot! But apart from that small issue, I really liked the place and the minimalistic vibe! They also provide eggs and bread there! Amazing!!!

Since finding Okende I find it hard to get a coffee anywhere else, as I just know I'll be buying an inferior beverage. Simply done, milk at the correct temperature, flavoursome coffee, perfect size and friendly owners. The pastries are great too. Highly recommended.
