When I stayed there. (2000-2001) And I believe it was all west Lothian homeless people. 99% of people were sound. No one bothered me. Generally. Most staff are friendly but as usual you get the odd 1 who thinks they are above all others. Looked like a real rubbish job to be fair. I was lucky and had the room above the bar. First two nights were unbearable but then COVID lockdown happened. Silence. Plus top WiFi (in bar underneath) all staff were generally courteous and polite. Greggs occasionally filled out boots with pies/cakes etc. was actually pretty good. Maids every day etc. not sure the state now but this place used to be a MAJOR function place for weddings etc. hopefully it managed to attain some of its formal glory. Good luck anyway guys and thanks for having me for a year. :)

Unfortunately my experience with the Kaim Park wasn't very good albeit that it was almost a year ago, my wife and I were at a 40th birthday party and the buffet left a lot to be desired. As stated this was almost a year ago, so it may have improved since then, I can only go by my experience at the time, but I haven't been back there since.

Have been a few times over the years, mostly the food is nice and the staff polite but the past few times we visited it has been a bit chaotic, a few other tables including ours waited quite a while on our food with no apology when it did arrive. I booked this hotel online o the 11/5/17. I wish I looked at the review. I emailed twice about an early check in and their check in time was 2pm. And we had a wedding at 1pm. I then called the hotel to see if there was a earlier checking. I told the lady on the phone that I had emailed about this twice. The lady said "we are fully booked just now and if we have a earlier check in it would cost be £20" I said that would be fine. She then said " but there is nothing anyway". I found the lady's manor on the phone not very pleasant. We were in a double room charged at £70 including breakfast. Parts of the hotel is nice but there is parts that are very tired. I'm sure it's working progress... Our room was very basic. There was a few curly hair's in the bed and on the bath. The walls and celings were marked furniture was marked too. There was no cupboards but they have put a pole in the room. Obviously to save space but there was only 2 coat hangers. I felt the room was over charged for the standard it's in. My friend has a guest house for homeless people and her rooms were better quality than this. Breakfast was a disaster. There was 11 including us in the breakfast room. There is a selection of 4 cereal tea/coffee and orange juice and toaster for making your own toast. The full fried breakfast entails of 1 sausage 1 egg 1 slice of bacon 1 tbl spoon of fried mushrooms 2 tbl spoons of beans and 1 plum tomato. There was no bread to make toast no glasses for the oj. We waited 30 minutes for our fried breakfast. The waitress came over said the chef has to cook the sausages from scratch! I don't know how else the chef cooks the sausages but no link sausage takes 30 minutes to cook. We won't be back and we wouldn't recommend the hotel or breakfast.

I came here with my family on Christmas Day, there was 7 of us expecting a good day with good food. The servers were all over the place, disinterested, with no idea what was going on. I do think this was due to bad management on the day but my goodness, they were so slow. We waited almost an hour for our starters, when they did come we were missing things, main courses were even longer. The food was okay, most certainly not worth the £55pp they were charging. It ended up us leaving before desert 4 hours later. Most of the tables around us were also leaving as they were fed up waiting. Very disappointing on their busiest day of the year so it seems.

The only person there that was professional, caring and just a credit to that place is a very young waiter called Stuart. He has potential to go far in customer service that's for sure. We booked the KP for the reception after my Mum's funeral and I truly wish we'd chosen another venue. The function suite was unstaffed and in darkness when we arrived. When challenged, the staff member responded - somewhat abruptly - to say we were 15 minutes early, so it was evidently our fault in his opinion. The function suite was then hurriedly lit and a single staff member allocated to tend the bar, but the gents' toilets' hand drier didn't work and there were no hand towels or toilet rolls in there either. I made a poor choice of venue for a stressful day. If you are looking to book somewhere in the area for any event then please, please choose somewhere else. This business does not value its customers and frankly deserves to fail.

No doubt this will continue til the chair gives in cause the owner of the chair won't give in and retire this chair which could easily snap at any time possibly leading to a daft injury claim

Arrived at tea time last week and only entered because we needed some dinner and it was the first place we come across. To begin with it seemed ok, then it soon become clear that we had entered some sort of parallel universe! Atmosphere was non existent for a kick off. Followed by the slowest pair of waitresses I have ever known, and I've known a few. Food was ok - edible at least. Then half way during the meal, the conservatory roof started leaking onto one of my party. And it was freezing cold. Anyway fast forward what seemed like days and we finally get to dessert and about ten times the waitress had ti pop in and out of the kitchen to check what came with the puddings and could we have this and every time she left she stopped for a natter with other waitress. Then...! We paid the bill and they 'forgot' our change! We had to ask for it. All in all it was a strange night and I most probably won't return.

The Kaim Park has been tucked away in this leafy little corner of Bathgate for a long time - a lifetime really. Used to go there to the discos in the eighties!! Yes I know....showing my age. Old enough now not to care about that. So revisiting my youth today was fun. Fond memories of Bathgate. I know it's not a classically picturesque place but it's the memories and the connection that do it for me. Restaurant quiet when we went in. Greeted warmly by reception staff. Seated in the new-look conservatory. Like the decor. Classy. Clean lines. Menu fairly standard fare but my friend likes as she calls it...... a Steak Pie Sunday. There it was. Duly ordered and served. Lovely light pastry, tender tasty meat - melt in the mouth. Al dente ( maybe slightly too al dente?) vegetables and crispy chips. And to follow ? Sticky toffee pudding! Feather light sponge with unctuous toffee sauce and smooth custard swirls. Lip-smackingly nyummmy!! All served efficiently, discretely and timeously with friendly smiles. Thank you. What's not to like? Go on ....reconnect with your past and enjoy a lazy Sunday afternoon here.

Well we used to eat here at least 3 times a month, but have not been here for around 10 months or so. On the face of our lunch on Saturday I can't see us ever going back.Firstly had our drinks order taken by the receptionist as they were short staffed, she couldn't wait to tell us they had also had issues with a large table of 15 guests whose orders were taken wrongly.Anyway 15 minutes at least after this I had to remind them our drinks were still not received. Then a further 10 minutes to take our orders, in hindsight we should have just paid for the drinks and left.Anyway we decided to try our luck with lunch.2 potions of Soup and 2 Haggis pakora. The soup was very nice but our waitress forgot butter for the bread rolls and more importantly spoons us to try and eat the soup. The Haggis Pakora was very salty and the batter very chewy as if they had been reheated? The main courses were a bit better again 2 out of 4 dishes being OK and 2 very low par.Steak pie was nice but very greasy and a lot of fat on the meat very small portions snd cold mushy chips. The Macaroni Cheese was terrible boiled pasta with grated cheese and burnt Garlic Bread. The pasta was swimming in fat from he cheese and no cheese sauce meant that the pasta was chewy and almost toasted when grilled. We did tell our server when the came to clear our plates and was told that dessert would make up for it.By this point we all had had a bad dish out of the 2 courses ordered so far and decided to call it a day.Overall will not be back, as Bathgate has about 4 or 5 better restaurants compared to this once good eatery but sadly now sinking fast.

Went here today for lunch. There was a large family table in and maybe three other tables in. Before I went today I went on to the website to check the menu. On there it states 2 courses for £7.95 and 3 courses for £9.95 with a ok selection. There is also a a la carte menu with a variety of pasta and chicken and salad ect and a lightbite menu with nachos, panini's, wraps and baked potatoes ect. So I thought there's a good variety. So arrived at 1.50pm was seated straight away. Waitress who was very pleasant came and took the drinks orders. Looked at the menu not even anything like the website no 2 courses or 3 courses. Light bites was soup and a sandwich with one choice of soup and nothing else no wraps no baked potatoes nothing like that. The main menu the price of the meals was hugely overpriced like £14.00 which I don't mind if I'm out for dinner and hungry or if I'm expecting to pay that but that's not what I was expecting after seeing the online menu. There was a few dishes that were like 1/2 dishes so it was like steak pie ect. Anyway decided to order ham, egg and chips. And my mum got mac and cheese with chips and garlic bread. Took ages eventually got the meal at 2.40 when the plates were put down I asked for sauce. The Mac and cheese was swimming in like grease. They forgot the garlic bread which eventually did come out. The ham, egg and chips well I have never seen anything like it when i go to any other restaurant it's like bacon u get or like gammon. No this was like cold ham from a packet with the fried egg on the top. The fried egg was crispy and totally overcooked and inedible. So after waiting a whole ten mins for the sauce to arrive and my mum finishing hers I asked if I could just have a side of cheese to have my chips with it. As I hate cold ham and didn't expect that and the egg was overcooked. The waitress was totally helpful and did take it back and it came back with a better egg and bacon and a side of cheese. But for £5.95 u can get a full cooked breakfast for less. The bill was £16.50 with two drinks. Felt like we were robbed. Food was rubbish, place needs decorated, only 1 server who was lovely and I did leave her a £3.50 tip just because she was so nice. I hope she did get it as we waited another ten mins and no member of staff was to be seen so actually handed it to a member of staff on the way out with a jacket on near the kitchens. But I won't be back.

We arrived at around 9 pm there was a huge argument between a woman and a member of staff, glasses being smashed, we felt very unsafe, the police were called. a member of staff apologised and informed us that the hotel is being used for DHSS homeless, he offered us a fee drink, we were shown to our room, it was clean but dated, the bed was the worst I had ever tried to sleep in, lumpy and very uncomfortable I spent most of the night sitting in a torn leather chair. in the morning we went to eat breakfast, again this was terrible cold rubbery bacon, sausages that didn't look cooked about two handfuls of baked beans and what was supposed to be scrambled egg obviously this was the powdered type so only ate toast. coffee was brought to the table that was cold had to ask for it to be changed. when we went to whom ever it was sitting behind a small opening and told her , about our experience she was quite stand offish, saying they had never had any complaints' before, we found this very hard to believe. please avoid this hotel at all cost. we did get our money back. to be honest we wouldn't have left without it

Took the family for a meal, 8 adults and a child. After working in the hotel 10 years ago as a chef I decided to return for a meal since the hotel was taken over all those years ago. To start with the restaurant looks more business associated now rather than for family's as it did when I worked there. The hotel is located between small towns so I dont understand the catering and decor for city customers and businesses, there was only 2 other tables in at 5pm, when I worked there a Sunday was the busiest day of the week with over an hour waiting list up to 9pm from 12:30 so this was not a good sign. Firstly sitting down the menu was tiny with around 6 starters and 7 main meals excluding steaks, the menu was also very expensive so again would not appeal to family's. Our drinks order was taken and 4 out of the 8 drinks were wrong in one way or another, ( remember there was only 3 tables in ). After deciding what we would all like the order was taken although with only 7 choices on main meals they didn't have one of the choices available. The starters to be fair were nice, 3 of us ordered lasagne and we have never tasted such a poor attempt at a lasagne in our life, it was basically mince with one sheet of pasta and lots and lots of strong cheddar cheese, no white sauce or layers of pasta. The dish was full of oil from the cheese and really over powering. For the setting you walk into and the price of the menu and even the low amount of customers in at that time I would expect the food to be top class not a cafe standard which I'm sure a cafe could cook a better lasagne. Another person ordered a beef stroganoff which was more tomato based and served with yellow pilau rice, think they got that recipe mixed up with an Indian dish. Half way through the meal we ordered more drinks and they took 20mins to come again only a few customers in. The meal cost £155.00 for 7 main meals, (no steaks due to them costing £22) 8 starters and a kids soup plus 3 beers and 5 juices and 2 soda waters. Work it out that is expensive in this area for basic items like soup and lasagne. Overall I was left shocked that how this once thriving family restaurant has turned into a such a poor place to go for a family meal. I was only at the Kaim park as a chef for 6 years and the people who know the hotel will know exactly what I am talking about regarding the difference between then and now. I understand things change but this isn't slight differences this is a complete turn around from being the best in the area in my opinion to the worst. The owner should go back to the start and speak to the customers of the past and they could set themselves up with a very profitable business as it was before. Stop trying to turn the restaurant into something it's not, believe it or not ITS THE CUSTOMER WHO WILL DECIDE HOW THE RESTAURANT LOOKS,WHAT IT SERVES AND AT WHAT PRICE, BY THEM GOING IN FOR A MEAL OR NOT!

This is a lovely looking pub and restaurant, and the staff are excellent, but I continue to be disappointed with the quality of the menu. It's fine for lunch, but for more substantial evening meals it often misses the mark. An example would be their pasta dishes - always overcooked with stodgy, tasteless sauces. Dessert however is often tremendous. Kaim Park has all the right ingredients, they just need to work on the recipe.

My hubby ate here last Christmas during his team lunch and although its a nice setting and near the workplace, there is room for improvement. He was disappointed in the menu as a little too formula. There seems to be need to modernise the menu or introduce some traditional Scottish dishes to encourage more people to eat there. The setting in the conservatory was very pleasant so nice setting pity about the food. Its not that cheap either and could do a lot better.

He walked past our table (and empty glasses) 3 times and never asked if we would like any more drinks, I actually had to call him over. And there was only another two couples in the restaurant at the time. When my starter (pate) arrived it was a strange colour, as though it had been left sitting out for a while. Both myself and my husband tried it and both agreed it was off. It was served on a bed of brown wilted lettuce, yuck! Waiter did apologise, and said we wouldn't be charged for this (not that I would have paid anyhow). Main meal was ok, nothing special.Waiter apologised again at the end, and proceeded to tell us the chef tried the pate and there was in actual fact nothing wrong with it. What a cheek! He also said the next time we are back we can try the chefs own homemade pate, no thanks! After this experience, I doubt I will ever be back!

This place has went downhill, I went here with my partner and even though the restaurant was empty we were sat in the corner of the room next to the back door, it was cold and the tables were extremely dirty, the table next to us had dead flies on it. We stayed for 5 minutes before getting up and leaving due to the concerning state of the place.

Five members of our office went for lunch today.Took almost 10 minutes for someone to greet us at the entrance where a sign says "Please wait to be seated"Once seated, we ordered drinks and food which took an age to come.Food was ok, waitress friendly, but I'm sorry, 2 hours for a 2 course lunch is not acceptable !

Booked a table for a meal. Was told over the phone that our table was booked for 7 but when we got their they expected us at half 7. No menus available for the first 20 mins.Food overall was very poor. We were offered 4 different meals before ours eventually turned up.Was overcharged £20, 4 extra drinks and one main meal. Some one staying at the hotel walked past us with a take away whilst some one else walked past us with an iron and ironing board.????Would never return.Overall very poor experience, level of service and quality of food!!!!!!

I emailed the Kaim Park on the 12th May saying I would possibly like to book 13 people for dinner but would like to see the kids menu first as my daughter only eats sausages and if sausages are not on the menu would it be ok for me to bring them for her. I also asked if it was ok to bring a meal for my nephew who has a special condition and would the chef heat it for him. I received no reply on the 12th May, I emailed again on the 13th asking for a reply, I did then get a reply saying "I have passed your e-mail to our events coordinator, who is dealing with this for you". It is now the 21st May and I have heard nothing back. Is the Kaim Park really willing to throw away the business of 13 people for the sake of heating up 2 meals for kids? Thankfully Tony Macaroni in Livingston have been very helpful and agreed straight away to my requests. They obviously value their customers!

My previous review was not an exaggeration, like the manager stated. It truely was the worse hotel I have ever stayed in. The manager needs to take note of the huge number of reviews telling him that the hotel rooms are disgusting and are in chronic need of an update and to stop replying with comments that imply that it is the customer who has the issues not his hotel. Start taking note of the mojority of your customers or your business will end up down the pan!!

Had lunch with my daughters and partner on 11/05 and was delighted with the service we received. The staff that served us (Sam and Alistair) were very attentive and friendly. The meals we ordered were on the lunchtime menu and were certainly value for money as the portions were very generous. The layout of the restaurant has been designed to be visually pleasing with a warm ambient atmosphere. There is s lovely play park for younger children which unfortunately due to rain we did not get the use of but I will definitely return and I would definitely recommend eating at this establishment.

I have eaten here on a several occasions over the years only to go away very disappointed.I return each time with hope that the food on the menu which is very appetizing would have improved, sad to say it hasn't.I love the ambience of the hotel, it's ideal for parents as children can safely play in the massive garden which the dining area over looks. The staff weren't unfriendly they just seemed indifferent to their customers. The sides such as potatoes and veg looked withered, and tasted as if they'd been lying well past there best before date.Sorry to say it will be another few years before I return to try again. The menu reads as if it's creative and delicious unfortunately the food is a let down and over priced.

Waited 50 mins for a five bean and ceaeser salad. Eventually they did manage two soft drinks and one soup. Clearly multi tasking is just not an option. They weren't even that busy Couldn't wait for mains. Nobody apologised or took any responsibility for long delay. To make matters even worse it took three people to work out cost of drinks and soup. Eh maybe a small gesture might have been offered to waive any charge. Absolutely unacceptable service. Definitely won't be back.

I was treated here by a friend for my birthday. It was lovely from start to finish and I couldnt fault anything about my experience. The staff were very polite and friendly, the food was lovely and the restaurant itself is bright and open. I enjoyed it so much the first time I had been that I then took my mum and gran along for mothers day, and I had the same great experience. Its extremely great value for money aswell I would highly recommend here for a nice afternoon treat.

I was recently here for a family meal and was impressed with the food, surroundings, prices and service once things got started. As a bonus, we were given the use of a separate room as our party had grown in numbers from the original booking and could not be catered for in the main restaurant area. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice meal at a reasonable price in a smart, modern setting.

I have visited this restaurant on many occasions and found it excellent so what happened on 19th. We were served with a vegetable lassagne which was inedible. Quickly replaced and taken off the menu, was this some sort of test to see if we would complain? Substitutes were served rapidly and enjoyed. Sorry I have never felt the need to post when I was happy but uncooked pasta and a watery sauce shocked me.

I visited in aug with a group for my friends baby shower. Staff let us use the private dining room to decorate and it was really nice. We had the afternoon tea and we all agreed it was delicious. We had a range of sandwiches and cakes and I especially liked the warm scones with cream and jam. We also had a glass of prosecco each. All together we paid £10 each. I thought this was excellent value as the food was tasty, the staff were helpful and the restaurant is nicely decorated and modern.

I booked a table for 3 for 6.30pm on Sunday night at approx 1.30pm, when we arrived , we were told there was no booking, what tiime did I phone at ? was it male or female ect, anyhow the place was quiet so I didnt see a problem, we sat down for a pre dinner drink, but staff were still talking about this booking 10 minutes later when my daughter went to the toilet. Anyhow, we ordered our three starters, which were good, mains , well my whisky sauce never saw a touch of whisky,I ate it not too bad. Husbands yorkshire puddings nearly cost him a visit to the dentist, but beef not too bad, he ate his. Alas, my daughter who had just arrived back from holiday wanted a fillet steak med rare, this arrived well done, she informed waiting staff, and it was removed and a new one was getting cooked, after 20 minutes myself and husband had finished our meals, I said laughingly its going to be well done, as indeed was the case, another 10 minutes later. Again we told staff, who dont get me wrong apologised, and asked her what she wanted to do, by this time all she wanted to do was go home . It kinda ruined our evening. We were not charged for the steak, obvouisly, but I would really like to know why a chef can not cook an expensive piece of fillet steak med rare or even rare. Any how, we paid the bill and left, I shall be honest and say we wont be back, a quick train into Edinburgh will do the job.

Arrived at the Kaim Park this afternoon with my partner and daughter for a nice lunch hoping to sit outside however due to a staff shortage this was unfortunately not possible but we were happy to sit indoors anyway, the friendly waitress then showed us to our table. I ordered a chicken caesar salad which, on arrival, I was disappointed to realise was actually just a bowl of lettuce drenched in caesar sauce with a few pieces of bread and warm chicken breast on top. I expected the salad to at least have tomatoes mixed through but nonetheless I began to eat the meal only to realise that the lettuce leaves were browning at the edges which had been hidden underneath. I left the meal and planned to complain when our waitress returned to clear the table, unfortunately this did not happen as the bill was brought to the table and our plates were not cleared. Nobody asked if our meal was OK and with my plate being still in front of me with the contents still there and old lettuce now clearly visible I had expected to be asked if there was something wrong. I really wanted to complain but it was an awkward situation with the plates still being on the table and the bill presented. My partner did not particularly enjoy his fish and chips either, which appeared to have an excessive amount of yellow food colouring added to the batter. There were also empty glasses left outdoors on the picnic bench located nearest to the play park, one of the glasses still had alcohol in it that my two year daughter tried to pick up which luckily I stopped from happening. I really feel that the glasses should be cleared immediately when guests vacate the garden area and as we were the only people that visited the garden for our entire visit it is obvious that the glasses had been out there for a long time. I should have complained about the meals but as previously mentioned, it was an awkward situation and if the chef feels that it is acceptable to serve food to that standard, by hiding brown lettuce underneath sauce then I don't think anything could have been done to rectify the situation as I certainly would not have accepted another meal. £8.95 for a meal that was not edible is disappointing and the chef is obviously aware of the food standard so it should not have been served in the first place. The service would have been great if the table was cleared before we left and a little more attention to customer satisfaction was given but we will not certainly not be back and I will not be recommending the restaurant to my friends, family or clients.

First time in the new look and must say it is very nice and an vast improvement on our last visit. However, we visited the restaurant tonight and found the food to be of a poor quality. Prawn cocktail was a lot of lettuce, a few prawns and very little Marie Rose sauce. The main course the Fillet steak and Steak and Ale pie. The Steak was good, however, the Boiled potatoes lacked salt and the Diane Sauce was 2 spoonfuls and luke warm. The Steak and Ale pie, the meat was lovely, however the puff pastry was lifeless and quite soggy. The Chips were partially raw and were definately taken out too early. Its the first time time that we have visited the establishment in a good few years and it will be the last for a good few more. There was a large table with around 14 covers and the noise eminating from that table did not fit in with the ambience.

First time at the restaurant since it has been refurbished. I was very impressed by the lovely ambience, attentive staff and superb food.It is such a pleasure to sit in a comfortable dining chair! The restaurant seemed to have a lot of disabled customers - which I thought was a great compliment to them. The A La Carte menu had a good choice of meals. I was a little bit disappointed though that their Italian food selection did not include the usual Lasagne and Spaghetti Bolognese.I choose to have the Chicken Korma followed by Chocolate Fudge Cake - I was not disappointed! We had to wait at least 30mins for out main courses to arrive. The Chicken Korma was better quality than many of the local takeaways!I would recommend this restaurant and venue to anyone looking for somewhere to host a special family get together, wedding, birthday, anniversary, etc. Superb staff and superb food!

My family and I dined in the restaurant in Kaim Park Hotel on Mother's Day,and experienced by far the WORST meal we have had in a restaurant in a long time. The beef was so tough it could not be cut,and the vegetables were cold. These meals had obviously been plated up and left out and re-heated when ordered, resulting in tough inedible meat, and wrinkled soggy vegetables. The waiting staff were apologetic, and replaced my meal of beef with salmon en croute. While the salmon tasted ok,the pastry was soft and floppy, and completely inedible. Sadly a Mother's Day treat was spoiled by this experience. I live local to Kaim Park Hotel, and when I heard that it had changed hands,I assumed this would improve the quality of the meals served there, and friends were keen to have my feedback, hoping things had improved.Sadly this is not the case, and as such it will be a long time before I will return to this restaurant. This review is for the restaurant,as I have no experience of the hotel.

We visited last night for the first time and as soon as we arrived we knew we were in for a great night. The incredible service started as soon as we walked in the door. As it was our first visit our server (who I wish I had gotten the name of but she was so lovely) explained the menu and how it all worked and gave us time to look at the drinks and the food menu. She was attentive without being intrusive, perfect balance and couldn’t do enough for us. On to the food which was nothing short of exceptional. We had 6 different dishes and every single one was a bit of food heaven. We also went on to have the dessert which was just delicious. The atmosphere in the restaurant is so lovely. All the staff are so welcoming and friendly. We finished the night at the bar and were talking with the staff like we knew them. We even got to speak to the chef at one point and tell him how incredible the food was. The was excellent value for money too. Each dish and drink is very reasonably priced. We had 6 dishes, 2 desserts, a bottle of wine, 2 beers and 2 cocktails and it was only £136. Absolute bargain!! I could rave about this place all day - and likely will tell anyone who will listen how amazing it is. It was the perfect first visit and we already can’t wait to go back. A gem of a place and I am so excited it is in Bathgate.
