Last week four of us had lunch at The Farmers. The welcome was friendly and, although we didn’t have bar snacks I was impressed that they had chocolates on the menu! We enjoyed the food we ordered – scampi and chips, gyros and a tuna mayonnaise sandwich garnished with salad and crisps. It was most impressive for a small country pub to actually offer gluten free bread on the menu. Our only complaint would be that the portions were too generous and we couldn’t manage to finish everything. The Ladies cloakroom was absolutely spotless – most impressive.

Lovely meal had hamburger and chips (homemade) and scampi and chips, great atmosphere, thanks to Harry and Tallulah for a great afternoon. So nice to have our local pub back. !

Just ordered a drink so can’t comment on food but it’s a very lovely atmosphere and a cosy place to have a drink. DOG FRIENDLY.

It was a lovely meal very good value for money and very clean establishment and friendly staff too the atmosphere was very good as well.

We were told about this place and decided to try it. We were not disappointed the food was excellent. Service was good and the place throughout was really nice. Must try.

We visited for Sunday lunch and would definitely recommend. The surroundings are lovely with fantastic staff. We ordered two Lamb roast dinners, requesting the lamb well cooked. No problem. The food was wonderful and we will definitely return. The staff have good people skills, nothing was too much trouble. A good village pub.

Food not being served every night visited Monday evening to be told no food being served Wish they had this information on trip advisor or at least on Facebook

I booked a table for 6 to celebrate our vegetarian friends birthday, our roast came with one sprig of broccoli one roast carrot stick and one roast parsnip. We had the option of buying cauliflower cheese for an extra £5 per portion. I asked for boiled or jacket potatoes as l am trying to loose weight, but was told this was not an option. Our vegetarian friends had two very small bits of nut roast. At the end of our roast l asked the table if they wanted to order desserts or wait a while only to be told no desserts were available. We were also cold .

Popped in on the off chance after a trip to the beach. We had the dog as well and they saved us a table in the bar. I am a bit of a food critic and normally very critical but the roast Lamb was delicious. Perfectly cooked and lovely veg and roast potatoes. Lovely cosy pub, staff were very friendly as well.

Wonderful surroundings, lovely people behind the bar, full of fun but very professional.

We went for Sunday lunch and our booking couldn’t be found, but they managed to get us a table for the 4 of us. Unfortunately there was only one waitress and she had at least 12 table to work. Took ages to get a drinks order and placed food at same time. Wax told 5-10 minutes later that the wine we ordered had ran out, also 2 further choices had ran out - these weren’t taken off the board. When we eventually got the wine we was told there were no wine glasses!! How does a pub not have enough wine glasses or wine!? Unfortunately when we received our food, it was cold -this was a disappointment- had to ask for the gravy a couple of times. They really should let people know that they had staffing issues and to check with customers that they are happy with their dinner. Hope there will be a change in the near future and will check on here beforehand.

So dissappointed. When we arrived for our prebooked table we were ignored by three young people who were working in the bar. I had to approach them to get attention. No welcome for customers is awaful. When we were finally taken to our table the waitress found us three food stained and grubby menus which were almost impossible to read as the font was so small. Fortunately one of our party managed to take a photo on his phone in order to read the menu. We waited ages for the waitress to take our drinks order and when we asked for a wine menu we were told there wasnt one but she could remember the choices. They had no alcohol free cider so we ordered a fruit juice and two glasses of wine from her memory. We then ordered food, two steaks and the lamb. My lamb wa nice but the steaks were not very good and considering the price this was unacceptable. We then asked for the dessert menu, there wasnt one but the waitress again had a good memory. We declined the options as we could not physically see a menu to make a decision. On the whole the waitress did well under the circumstances working alone between the bar and restaurant and she was very pleasant but very inexperienced. On previous visits we had a very positive experience with excellent food. The place has gone downhill significantly which is such a shame because this could have been a venue to go for casual meals and drinks as well as a special dining experience. My husband booked this for my birthday and his disappointment at the experience was sad to see. The owners need to step up their game and put this place back on the map and employ people who are experienced in hospitality.

I've just had a lesson in how to not do customer service. My friend and are staying in the area and I did some research on where to have a Sunday dinner, and found an award winning Sunday roast half an hour walk away - result! They didn't have a website but we were directed to their Facebook page and today post boasted their roast being served 12-5.30, so off we trotted just after 4 and arrived at 4.37 (yes we checked) only to be told that the kitchen was closed and they only serve until 4.30. I should add that we had tried to call to book but the phone didn't go through, we had also, as their Facebook post suggested, to message them, and also left a comment on their post about booking. When asked if there was anything they could do, we were met with shrugs, and when we asked about alternatives they suggested a local Chinese or Indian (we were with the dogs). We decided to have a (warm) glass of wine in the gorgeous, very instagramable, gardens, only to be confronted by a pack of off leash spaniels who riled up our dogs, and a giant dog poo on the grass. A little too late I checked previous Facebook posts to see this wasn't the first time that they had issues with serving the roast, they obviously haven't learned from previous mistakes!

Meal booked for about eight people on a Thursday evening. From start to finish we were made to feel very welcome. Staff were so nice and extremely helpful. The environment is very pleasant and comfortable to dine in. We were in a side part from the main room which worked well. Food was absolutely divine and served in a timely manner. Very well presented and tasted wonderful. I can recommend the salmon. There was a good selection of herbal teas and coffees for after the meal. I really hope the staff behind the bar and the chef are rewarded and stay working here. It's really nice to see our local getting things so right.

Had Sunday lunch here during our holiday in Caister. Not really "Sunday lunch out" people in general, as we always feel we can do a better job at home. This place wowed us!!! Great garden to dit in on a sunny afternoon. Good choice of beers. Staff very pleasant and helpful as we were "walk ins". Food absolutely delicious. The way they served all the potatoes and veg in the basket was novel. Everything was hot on arrival, beef was tender and veg spot on. Can't fault it. Left very Happy

Apparently they have a new chef so we popped in Friday to check it out, another 4 people sat near us and were going to eat but two people sat at the bar were vaping, not great for a restaurant, the 4 people left and we didn’t eat either. What makes it worse is they appear to work there or are attached in some way to the pub. Don’t eat where they allow vaping inside.

Excellent food. Great staff.well worth a visit. We had a lovely lunch in the farmers today. Food was great and well presented. Scott and Marseilles are the dream team behind the bar. Friendly and helpful and engaging. Highly recommended.

This used to be the hub of the village but no longer a go to place for us. We love the wednesdayquiz nights and drinks with our friends but its ran by kids now, every time we go different young staff, the quiz recently was awful, the staffs mates happened to win they were all under 20 and were openly cheating on their phones they knew the answers to things they would have only known via google. We feel also that the food has gone down hill. When we questioned quiz results we were followed out by a group of teenagers staring us down. For 40 something adults this is no longer a place l wish to spend my money. The owners should address these problems.

Stopped for a drink here. A lovely local village pub, with a nice feeling and gorgeous outside space. Really nice coming here for a late night drink. Relaxing did not want to leave. Did not have food so could not rate it but will be back soon.

Awful food the chicken was cold and presentation terrible. We waited a while and was presented with an awful anaemic piece of cold chicken a bit of mash and beans. What has happened to this place ?

I so wanted to like this pub but unfortunately it’s not one I will return too. We arrived for a reserved table and ignored by staff. After we were finally shown to our table, the waitress told us all the options that were no longer available, which was disappointing as the menu us fairly limited. When we asked what vegetables came with a particular meal the reply was “not sure” to which we replied any chance you could find out?. Our starters arrived 3 garlic mushrooms and I baked Brie. The bread with the cheese was dry and tasted out of date and EVERY plate had brown out of date salad in it. We explained to the waitress this wasn’t good enough and even though she relaid our message back to the kitchen there was MORE of the same salad on a main course!!!!!. I had the sausage, mash and onion gravy and whilst I will say the sausages were lovely, the onion gravy was light brown water with not one onion in sight!! By way of apology they removed the cheapest main from the bill!! Simply not good enough, not a chance we will be back!!.

This seems quite a popular place but it was a hot day when we visited. Thought the menu was quite limited but what we ordered was ok. My partner had the cheesey tagliatelle and it was extremely cheesey. I had the salmon which was nice far to many potatoes but was nice. Service was good and staff seemed quite busy. Not easy to park as only a few spaces outside the pub itself.

Great atmosphere, lovely food and great venue

we went father day and the cooks looked dirty in tshirts and jeans smoking and drinking most off the time in the beer garden ...all veg was very under cooked near on raw ...asked the waitress what ciders they had she said she didn't know and to go to the bar and look...then there was hardly any drinks to choose from as they had all ran out ...we were the only table in for fathers day which was shocking ...and would off thought the service would be fantastic but no they all stood round bar talking...also considering I said we had 2 young baby's with us when booking they didn't think to inform us they had no changing facilities...was a shambles and waste off £140 .

Scott couldn’t do enough for us. The chef was off sick but he worked hard to keep the kitchen open , food was great , a lovely clean and well decorated venue. Come along. You will love it.

Booked a sunday lunch for 6 adults in advance. Pub was fairly quiet but the table was booked for 3pm. When we arrived table wasn't ready even though quiet, waited at the bar whilst staff prepared table, which they changed their mind three times. Roast was ok , hot but beef was tough and cut in thick slices which was difficult to cut and chew. Veg was borderline undercooked and Yorkshire was clearly reheated and chewy. Had to ask for dessert menu , wasn't offered nor were empty glasses cleared from the table when we asked for more drinks. Disappointed overall and wouldn't return.

On a weekend away in Norfolk and an avid Sunday lunch taker was recommended to book for Sunday lunch. I was not disappointed, pleasant welcome for us and the dog , drink’s ordered followed by food order. Sunday Roasts arrived quickly piping hot , great quality but the vegetables were amazing , 5 different types served on a tray due to quantity Great desserts to offer as well just had room for one Would recommend and will quite happily return when next in the area

Having been here a few times we were looking forward to Sunday lunch but we left disappointed. Yorkshire pudding overcooked or reheated were crispy probably the worst I have ever eaten, roast potatoes reheated, very poor service considering how empty the pub was. The best part of the meal was the cabbage it was delicious. I’m sorry to have to write this as it’s really a lovely pub but we won’t be back again.

I liked the food however wish the steak had actually been medium instead of basically rare.. but its all good. Atmosphere and staff were nice.

We ordered a tomahawk steak meant to be medium rare but arrived blue. When the waitress bring the same steak back it was recooked in microwave,we did question this chef said that wasn't a microwave but rational oven. We where told to start that we don't have to pay for this meal but when we ask for bill we where informed that they can only take 10%off never coming back and don't recommend at all.

Probably the BEST 'Sunday Roast' you'll find & would therefore highly recommend...

A well presented Pub, in a village setting. Visit the website as it does what it says on the tin. Very friendly atmosphere, very nice staff and very cosy decor. Food well cooked and presented at very reasonable prices. Good portions good produce. We would recommend this pub/ restaurant to anybody visiting the area, well worth finding, would recommend booking for Sunday lunch, You will not be disappointed. We will definitely visit again.

Avoid - terrible food. After seeing some great reviews we booked a table for 7pm for dinner with family and afterwards we’re going to join the quiz at 8.30pm. We arrived promptly and although the pub was not busy our table was not ready. We were seated near the back entrance to the smoking shelter so had to sit with coats on as very cold. We place an order for 4 burgers, 2 without cheese, onions rings and garlic bread. 1 hr later our food arrived - all burgers with cheese and no sign of any onion rings or garlic bread. We sent two burgers immediately back and waited another 15mins. When they were served one was swimming in fat, and the bacon was not cooked thru and covered in black bits from a dirty grill - it was sent straight back. We then argued about the bill as they wanted to charge us for 3 burgers, onion rings and garlic bread which never arrived oh and some scallops which we did not order! We paid for the drinks and the two burgers which were eaten and left and to be honest they were lucky we paid for that as the food was terrible. We believe this pub is operating under a new manager and team who are clueless and seem to be happy to serve the lads at the bar and ignore the rest of the pub. Will not be going back - spent £42 on 3 cokes, one pint of Guinness and 2 greasy burgers, sat with coats on as cold, in a tatty dirty pub. Total rip off !!

Pleasant surroundings and prompt service, with attentive staff. I met friends here, for a chat and we were there sometime but never felt rushed, even though the venue was rather busy. I will say, if you are not a doggy person, or have allergies, you may want to rethink visiting, as the majority of customers brought along a dog.

Wow had the lamb full of flavour cooked to perfection. Lovely staff and atmosphere

This is one of the best roasts I've had put, pure and simple. We are in Caister for a few days away and took a chance here for a roast sunday dinner. The options were lamb, beef, turkey and chicken. The portions of meat are incredibly generous, and vegetables are served on a sharing box and there is LOADS to go around. Vegetables in cluded cauliflower cheese, roasted parsnips, carrots, beets and loads of greens. The pub is also dog friendly in the bar area (where you can also eat). Cannot recommend this enough!

Ok - so we came here for Christmas Lunch... We were all looking forward to a really special experience. I am sure The Farmers are aware of all the issues experienced, not just by us but by many of the other guests. It fell short...

Aweful experience - went with family for a Christmas get together. No atmosphere, you wouldn’t know it was Christmas in 2 weeks. Won’t do single roast, you have to share. Food came out cold & meat was still bleeding. Desert is cheesecake or sorbet. The young staff tried really hard. They were kind & friendly, but that doesn't make up for poor service, bad food, few choices & blatant misleading when advertising it as something special when it’s not. It actually spoilt my day.

Food had bugs in & it smelt of dog poo. It was so dirty & the way I seen the staff getting treated was so disgusting. I find it very unfair the way members of the staff were getting treated.

We stopped off for a bite to eat at lunchtime and were blown away by the quality and flavour of the food! The beef Ragu was to die for and the pork chop special was stunning. Congratulations to the chef. Would highly recommend 🥰

Went with a last minute booking on a weekday early evening (around 17:15), courteous on the phone and for the duration of our dinner. We sat indoors and it was beautifully decorated with the window mirrors, chandeliers. The bathrooms had a really cool wallpaper (at least in the female toilets). Everything was clean and nicely spaced out. The staff were accommodating with our requests for my father's birthday and extra cutlery. All our food tasted great and good value for money. Everyone was stuffed at the end. We had parmesan truffle puffs, chicken supreme, moroccon lamb, monkfish scampi, mixed veg, chocolate torte and tiramisu.

Decor very good, food merely satisfactory but expensive. However service was atrocious. Seated at 5.40pm ... order taken at 6pm ... food came at 6.50pm. Had Farmers ultimate cheese & bacon burger and my wife had Norfolk lamb rump. We were the only two customers in the restaurant. Waitress was nice & apologetic. I refused to pay the 10% service charge.
