Outstanding! Some of best food around in South Wales.

The tastiest food we’ve had out in a loooong time. You can tell that Janet puts in a lot of care and thought into creating the menu as well as the food. The atmosphere is beautiful on the inside and service was spectacular - especially the young (well not exactly young but you know what I mean) man in the red shirt and welsh dragon tattoo on his arm. Brilliant, couldn’t recommend more!

'whatever you recommend?' is what I said, I got the Korean Honey Chicken and the steamed sushi and black rice. With a point of Pitchfork to wash it down. Perfect! 👍👍👍

Amazing service from front of house staff, polite, friendly, attentive. Outstanding cuisine, beautifully cooked, wonderfully presented. OMG the flavours. . . Warm and friendly atmosphere . Have been wanting to dine here for a long time after seeing a feature on a BBC programme and it was so worth the wait. Thank you for such a wonderful evening's dining experience. Booked an evening with the Wife, Sister-in-law and Mother-in-law and was really looking forward to this!! And it certainly did not disappoint! Food was exceptional (once we'd all decided what we were having 🤣), kitchen worked together in perfect harmony, we could see a lot of the food preparation from where we sat. The FoH girls were amazing, so polite and professional. Chinese is our favourite cuisine, and there were flavours here we'd certainly never had before and blew us away! By far the best Bibimbap I've ever eaten!! Keep it up girls, amazing place and highly recommend.

Lovely lunch at Janet's, I had spring rolls and nasi goreng which were both delicious. Great vegan choices and generous portions! Topped off by friendly service, will definitely go back next time I'm in the area

Less than a year ago I gave this place 5 stars and an excellent review but my visit on Tuesday night couldn't have been any more different...food and service were mediocre at best and it's an awful shame that the previously high standards have clearly not been maintained.

Outstanding....bibembap tasted like i was back in Seoul. Just a shame no kimchi or jasmine tea but those are very small quibbles for a most excellent lunch.

Proper little gem. Booked it at random and really impressed. Lovely food. Staff were great. Will be back for sure

Went for a birthday meal with my wife and little girl, was very busy but food didn't take long. Staff were very friendly and food was delicious, we will definitely be back.

We had a short wait to be able to book for a day that suited, but boy was it worth it.. From being greeted with a smile and friendly faces the staff in the restaurant were great. When it came to the food, we started with the spring rolls, and the pork and prawn siu mai. The spring rolls were light and crispy and tasted as good as they looked. The siu mai were absolutely fabulous 👌 👏 highly recommend them. We then had the Korean honey chicken and the Korean volcano rice. Again both dishes were amazing. We can't wait to go back. Thank you Janet for the service and the fantastic food A+++++

Great food, we had pork gyozas, scallion pancakes and beef noodles and beef and pork belly noodles. Tasty meal, my only suggestion would be service could be improved on small things like being more attentive.

I can’t say enough good things about Janet’s Kitchen. Booking was easy online and we were shown straight to our table despite the restaurant being very busy. The menu is smaller than you might find in other restaurants but that’s because attention is obviously lavished on the dishes they have available. They were cooked to perfection and the subtle flavours worked so well together while also being a feast for the eyes. The service was excellent, treading the right balance between attentive and distant. Overall, it’s worth a trip and deserves all the accolades it’s been given.

Janet's in Pontypridd is a charming Chinese Korean restaurant nestled on the high street, perfect for a cosy meal. The food is tasty, with a variety of Korean dishes like bibimbap, cumin lamb , and pork dumplings that are both tasty and beautifully presented. The staff are friendly and provide lovely service, making you feel right at home. However, if you're particularly hungry, the portions might leave you wanting more. To feel fully satisfied, I recommend ordering some boiled rice, which is actually sushi rice and quite filling. Overall, it's a lovely spot with great food and a welcoming atmosphere.

This was our second visit to janets. After the first visit we thought we would hove it the benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately we were wrong . This is just our opinion of Janet's remember. Had to remind staff we hadn't had our drinks , the starters were all over the shop and when they did come , after reminding staff , they were cold .The wrong wine was brought out , no eater was brought even though we asked for some. I had my starter and my main before my partners starter came out , no shape here at all . I appreciate Janet has been given recommendation for her food but fir service in her restaurant.....no . Her staff are un trained and rude, as they were sweeping up around us when we hadn't finished. They were also emptying bins through the front door.We left without finishing our drinks as I did ask the young waitress not to sweep while we were still there but she just carried on . Some of you may think this harsh but it's not just the food that makes you business grow , its the service you provide and I don't thing your there ..The reasin we were in there so long was because we had to wait so long for a drunk , I had to remind the second waitress after 30 mins and then it was wrong . You should never sweep floors around customers

Amazing food, beautiful space. Well worth the journey...

Fantastic food, and a beautiful little restaurant. Service was polite, and knowledgeable of the menu. We had the wantons, smashed cucumber salad, bibimbap and honey chicken dishes. The sushi rice was really well cooked and seasoned. A good level of spice in all dishes, but not too much to put off those who are sensitive to it. The only detraction was that it was so busy, so we had to wait a little to be seated, But what can you say? It's rightfully popular right now. Wish I had more photos, but we were too excited to eat, maybe next time we'll snap some more.

Haven't been able to get to Janet's since lock down for lunch, loving the decor, seating and overall vibe. Everything is freshly cooked. Had a quick Korean cucumber salad, which had the right amount of heat for a hot afternoon, and not a stingy portion either considering it was a side. Would give 11 stars

The venue was lovely, nice and relaxed and I must say the food was stunning. Highly recommend Janets to anyone especially if going out for an occasion, it's well worth it.

Limited choice for people with allergies (gluten & dairy). But the food was fresh and very tasty. Would recommend.

Definitely worth travelling to if you’re a little further out and thinking about it. Very nice vegetarian dishes, so glad we made the journey.

Fantastic food and great service, a little gem of a restaurant

Mix of Korean and Chinese food, incredibly flavourful and well-portioned. Highly recommend Janet’s homemade gyoza and the cucumber salad! Pontypridd is so lucky to have such an excellent chef cooking in town.

Always amazing food here and staff are so friendly

Those was my 2nd visit I wasn't keen the first time. There is no glasses of wine/prosecco only sold by the bottle. If you don't like chilli they won't take it out if you just want noodles with no beef they won't take the beef out. Everyone raves about this place, but I certainly won't be returning the food isn't out of this world eithier.

Delicious Malaysian Laksa, absolutely fantastic. Service was excellent, attentive & polite staff.

Was invited to Janet's by family for a Birthday meal. First visited definitely won't be the last. The food is all freshly cooked and full of flavours. We all had different mains with various starters and every dish was superb and a good Chilean Sav Blanc plus bottles of Welsh Cider. Can't wait to return and I will never eat another Chinese takeaway after this experience. Highly recommended you will definitely not be disappointed.

I've just dined in this fantastic establishment where the food was delicious with every aspect packed with flavour! I 100% recommend if you are drawn to Asian cuisine. The staff are lovely and very accommodating so hats off to the chef and staff!

Absolutely delicious food, when I ate here I hadn't eaten all day so I kinda forgot to take pics but jeez the food was absolutely delicious, I had the bulgogi, my only qualm with the meal was that the side of rice seemed kinda mushy and overcooked, everything else was cooked to perfection.

Absolutely beautiful food tonight at Janet’s. I’ve waited months to come as it’s usually impossible to get a table, but it was worth the wait. Throughly enjoyed and will definitely return!

very beautiful interior, it is a tad smaller than I thought but it is always packed in there which is a testament to the delicious food they serve! this is on one occasion I feel like a place deserves 5/5 stars. Food is very fresh and cooked to order. I cannot fault the food, my mother who is highly fussy also enjoyed it very much and can’t fault the place which is an amazing feat in itself! there is a ramp up to the restaurant which is very helpful for disabled individuals! But do be sure to book in advance!!

Visited on 16th March 2024. Table booked for 19.45. Was informed dishes freshly cooked. My husbands arrived at 2010. We asked at 2030 where my dimsum was. Told they are cooked fresh. My husbands main course came out @2035 and my dimsum came out at 2045. It was the pancake. I finished it and immediately had my main put in front of me. It was obvious they had forgotten my starter. But no apology. I had Malaysian laska. Tasted nice until I found lumps of chicken with slimy fat and also the inners from inside of chicken ie: liver. Whole experience put me off. Husbands food was pleasant. Food was expensive and disappointing. A can of 7up or Pepsi max was £2.50. You can buy a crate of 24 for £8. A big profit. Waitress was not very attentive or helpful. Would not go again. They also need to sort the menu. 4 pages on a clip board not very professional for 5 star restaurant. Have had a response and would like to add drinks are bought wholesale so would work out cheaper than supermarkets!! I stand correct on the menu. It is dimsum and then mains. Just be aware if you use Janet's.

First time visit at lunchtime. I have to say I was really impressed with the service and the food. I had the Korean vegetarian bibimbap with spring rolls and Asian honey. Really really tasty! Will definitely visit again.

Great in every way. This small restaurant specialises in Northern Chinese and South Korean food. Quality cannot be faulted and the serving staff are lovely.

Really lovely fresh food and lots of veggie and vegan options, but let down by the slow service. We weren’t offered a drink for over half an hour, we didn’t receive one of the items we ordered and we were abruptly asked to leave 30 minutes before closing time. Tables were very close together.

We were here on a Tuesday recently for a birthday meal for my niece. There were 9 of us, 5 adults and 4 kids (2 x9yrs and 2x13). The staff catered for us very well. We asked them to just bring us a good selection from the menu, and that's exactly what they did. The food was fresh, hot and very tasty. It was really good to have such a selection as you got to try a bit of everything. The sweet and sour pork was one of my favourites. Can highly recommend Janet's. Enjoy

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Janet's Restaurant for the first time and I was thoroughly impressed. The ambiance was inviting, the service was impeccable, and the food was decidedly top-notch. Every aspect of the dining experience was of a high standard, leaving my family and me truly satisfied. Unbelievable food ,lovely place, lovely staff u must try trust me

Not great, and expecting a gaslight response that I won’t read, it seems the owner is offended by anything less than 5*: - seated on a table so close to two others that I had to apologise to other diners when I went to the toilet - food arrived one hr after we did. - asked if the food would be coming out soon, heard presumably the owner screeching from the open kitchen that it’d not been an hour - waiter came out and presented us with a piece of paper to say it’d been 51 mins. Who cares. We walked in an hr ago. More important that they’re right than we are happy - we were polite in our follow up, why wouldn’t we ask when you only have a 2 hr slot? - told food was coming very soon (that was fine) but then bought out more prawn crackers without asking us, odd gesture, wouldn’t want to fill up when food is due out? Then offered drinks by the waiter, which was nice, but the screeching right next to where we were sitting made us feel so uncomfortable and unwelcome we just wanted to eat and get out of there. - service from female servers disinterested at best. Table next to us found their own menus. - main issue that they’d bought out the food order of a large table who were seated after us was the issue, one of their own making that they were happy to not be transparent and pleasant about. Fine you do you, but we won’t return and we’ve already put two other couples off. - Absolutely not worth the weeks of waiting for a table and the 90 minute round trip. Food was fine but as it should be for the price. We felt it was ok, just not amazing. - both coats needed washing afterwards. Strong smell of cooking oil as seated next to open window, coats not taken.

Fantastic food, will definitely be going again

Some of the most brilliant food I have ever tasted in all of my life, somewhat on the pricy side but that price is absolutely earned considering the quality of the meals. I've been to Janet's three times now and every single time I've left with a full and happy belly. Can't wait for the 4th time!

We had a lovely lunch here yesterday, the service was quick, the food delicious & the atmosphere was lovely. The beef noodles were tasty, the beef bibimbap & the spring rolls were good too. I do think the restaurant would benefit from having a permanent host at the front to just to welcome people as it’s quite busy & we didn’t know where to be while waiting to be seated, also the music playing was more of a uptempo atmosphere where as I think the decor suited something more relaxing but that’s more personal preference than anything. So glad to finally visit as have been meaning to for a while, congratulations on a beautiful restaurant Janet & the team. We will be back :)

Yummy food but overshadowed by the long delays. Baffled as to why such unacceptable waiting occurs when you must book a specific time slot. Relatively expensive for Pontypridd but a good addition to what the town has to offer.

Intimate little restaurant. Food freshly cooked and as long as you are happy to eat whatever arrives, as it is cooked, you won't be disappointed.

My wife's so good at cooking that we're usually disappointed when we eat out, but the food here was amazing & can't wait to go back again!

Make sure you do not fall ill on the day of the booking. We gave notice as early as 9 a.m. on the day of the evening of our booking. When my friend texted to say she could not attend as she was ill they took £20.00 from my account. Their reason was they had to cook the food even though it states on the website that they only cook the food when you arrive!!!!!!! No doubt they will dispute this review. Be warned.

What a wonderful place this is! The food is beautifully cooked and presented as all the other reviewers have mentioned, but for us it’s the atmosphere and service that makes the place extra special We were there on a cold, wet Tuesday evening in November but the place was full and buzzing with people having a great time The staff were friendly, funny and knowledgeable and Janet herself came out to talk to us and other customers… She’s managed to create a wonderfully warm gem of a place… and not everyone can do that

Booked for 12.30 the night before our Sat visit and was told we would only have one hour but if we could come at 12, which we couldn't, we would have one and a half hours. Pleasant greeting on entering and shown straight to our table and given menu's. The waitress advised us everything was cooked fresh so would come when each dish was ready not all together and wouldn't be quick. We decided against starters due to our limited time and gave our food choices and opted for organic coffees. There was no alcohol on the lunch menu and I don't know if evening menu's have alcohol, likewise there was no dessert on the menu. Our coffees took quite a while to arrive but it was 10 past 1 before the last meal arrived with the reminder we had to leave by 1.30. The food was beautifully presented and tasted delicious. We did not use the toilet so can't say whether there was one or where it was. Having read reviews we knew we were in for a good experience and all in all we enjoyed our visit but would have liked a bit longer to savour our food. As a footnote we parked in the car park behind the bus station and wondered why lots of cars were parked all along the side of the access road. We found out when trying to pay there was no cash option only card which we tried several times to do before a kind gentleman advised us how to do it so be warned if you are tech dinasours like us!

Incredible gem of a restaurant, great vegan options

Food was really good, and I really liked the mixed steam rice (black and white rice). Some appetizers were not available, unfortunately. Just the bobba tea was flavourless and the tapioca balls undercooked.

Had an excellent dinner at Janets yesterday. The place was busy but inspite of that service was smooth and efficient. Wonton, honey chicken and Bibimbap defenitely recommended. Best restaurant in the area (including Cardiff) for this type of food. Need to book as restaurant is always busy. Hope they keep up the standard.

Janet's has been recommended to me for quite some time and came with a big reputation. I was not disappointed in fact I was very impressed. A compact well thought out menu is well presented by excellent helpful friendly staff. The food is full of flavour well cooked and superbly presented. The restaurant is clean airy and despite being busy not too noisy. Well worth a visit

Third visit to Janet's but the first at her new venue. Food is just delicious I don't have the superlatives to do it justice. Ordered the Won ton for the first time alongside the Sui mai pictured. Then for mains I tried the crispy pork and the kimchi bulgogi. It was all fantastic. Keep up the amazing work Janet. You deserve all the success.

I slice of Korean heaven in Pontypridd! The food was outstanding and so delicious we've booked to come back again already. Every dish was amazing and the service and staff were lovely. This truly is a gem!

The dining experience at Janet’s Authentic Northern Chinese Restaurant was not only about the incredible food but also the warm and welcoming atmosphere. Janet herself greeted us with a smile and ensured we were well looked after throughout our visit. The staff were incredibly attentive and accommodating, going above and beyond to find us a table to the side so we could enjoy our meal in a more comfortable setting.
