Excellent service from the young lady, very fast and perfect food

Food portions are excellent value for money, you can literally split 1 meal between 2 people and the portions are still huge

We as a family love gravy. But the gravy from here was vile. So dark it was almost black but at the same time tasteless. We won't be back.

Cash only.... It was OK, but once my regular is open I'm going back. Lots of veg in meal. Prawn rice to fishy and salty.

Large chips, jumbo sausage and regular gravy. £7, all good until I opened the meal on the beach to find the gravy was a type of soy sauce. Mis-sold!

I have used this place for years without any problems..until today. i went in to order placed order but was told it will cost more for the food than what they advertised it for,evan though i took the menu of the counter, there was a stack of them but i was told that is the old menu,so why are they on display.. What really made me walk out was the staff the young English lady just stood there and rolled her eyes at me while telling me well that's not the price, lacking severe customer service skills. NOW CORRECT ME IF I AM WRONG BUT SHOULD YOU NOT BE SELLING FOOD FOR THE PRICE YOU ADVERTISE IT FOR.considering you have so many menus on display, I for one will never visit this place again nor would i recommend it.

It’s ok, but the oil tastes not good

We've had x2 take aways from here over the years. Reasoning was because it was convenient as we were in Colwyn Bay at the time. The first time the food was OK, wrong sauce put on the top, good job we liked it, otherwise it would of all gone in the bin. Second time one of the food items was a spring roll. It tasted really weird. Like a stale taste? One bite and It went straight in the bin. The next day my partner had a bad stomach after eating the sausage dinner. We won't order from here ever again. I really can't understand how it has 4.4 stars, the food is awful! Sorry for sounding negative but it's an honest review.

Fantastic food. Great service. Lovely, helpful people. Both the fish and chips and Chinese were delicious. Just take cash as its cash only. But very worth it.

A nice change from our normal fish bar but always good food

I placed an order this evening and I find myself very disappointed. I ordered salt and pepper squid which was very fishy and you could tell it wasn’t fresh at all. We ordered 1/4 duck which was dry and wasn’t crispy and the housin sauce was cold. The only good thing I can say about my order was the special fried rice, however there was a hair in it.

Top quality. So good that we travel 50 miles. Fish always fresh and well cooked with a good portion of chips. Collect our order and then drive down to the prom and eat enjoying the view. Shame we don't live closer.

I’ve walked past here many times and not really noticed it but today i was super hungry and was passing, the fish n chips were spot on! Really lovely lady serving, so friendly. I will make sure i re-visit and try a chinese dish next time. Thanks for a lovely lunch😋

Great value chip shop that we have been visiting for years. Extensive menu choices at low prices and large portions. Highly recommended

You get double depth take away cartons on some items, special fried rice etc, great value and huge menu to choose from, can't fault them at all.

What can I say. I ordered salt and pepper chicken with boiled rice and curry sauce. Its the best salt and pepper chicken I've ever had. It was nice and spicy and the chicken wasn't dry. Highley recommended

I ordered some food earlier on they put salt in my coffee all because I asked how much it costed then they charged me £4.00 for a small tray and £1.00 for a fork. Appalling

Always a good welcome here, lovely fish'n'chips and a huge menu of chinese dishes. A take away but has a small seating area if you wish to eat in.

Very good fish and chip takeaway dinner for a family of 5. The cost was just under £35 so I thought that was pretty reasonable . The only fault is that it's cash only but there is a cash machine nearby.

We had a large order they sorted it with ease and great customer service the staff are friendly and the establishment is clean and tidy the food is fantastic there was fourteen of us eating we all enjoyed the meal everyone was pleased, thanks much appreciated ! :)

Prawn foo yung and banana fritters with syrup was £10. They were good to eat and the fritters were like three whole bananas which had been battered and deep fried.

Sorry to post this but your chips have really gone down hill, ordered 2 portions of chips this time and got home expecting them to be amazing and they were terrible, dry, over cooked. I’ve also ordered meals several times over the past few months and they’ve also been terrible unfortunately, maybe you’ve changed hands but you used to be the best around! Sorry but now you’re bottom of the list :( Please improve back to your old standards ASAP 👍

Good service and excellent food, chips especially were delicious

Ordered 3 rice chips and curry sauce got only rice and curry and paid double what was on the menu for it normally had no problem other than chis to raw understand slightly if its real busy but this is ridiculous no chips half a meal double the price wont use or suggest again 👎👎👎👎

Ordered Salt and Pepper chips and they were gorgeous. Very peppery (black pepper) which is not what S&P chips are normally like but thankfully I love black pepper. The curry sauce was nice albeit a bit slimy 🤔 No marks deducted though 😁 because overall it was a great meal. Shame they don't accept card payments which I find a lot of Chinese takeaways don't for some reason so it meant having to find a cash machine

Just try their lunchtime special, sweet and sour chicken balls with fried rice. OMG. Fabulous

Not good at all used to go and they were decent I went recently after a while and they totally messed up the orders. Lady even repeated it back and still managed to mess it up and give us cold chips as well. shame really.

Food is great and staff are nice. The 20 year old red and white decor lets you down. Styled as an 80s chip shop, you must sell more Chinese than chips. Do a little make over as a class Chinese and you may build on your faithful current business. You work hard and are dedicated. Reward yourselves with smarter working environment.

Best fish and chips I ever had in UK.

We had fish, and instead of chips some random starters (prawn toast, crispy wontons). Fish was really good and a good size, starters were ok. Staff were super nice. There were several customers hanging around waiting for orders but the wait was reasonable considering how busy they were. We received prawn crackers in addition to our order, the Chinese lady kindly filled my water bottle for me, and the white lady was v friendly also. Thanks :)

Cash only. Brilliant service. We called ahead to enquire about our dietary requirements, they kindly let us know they'd be happy to cook the chips in a separate fryer. Not only was this fab, but the chips were the best chips I've had from a chippy, ever. They were light and fluffy on the inside, yet had a crispy exterior. Would recommend.

Well established Chinese and chip shop

Tony's fish and chip shop did sell great food. We went recently and it looks like it’s changed ownership or something, as we were very disappointed. The chips were/ looked the frozen type and refried! The portions were disappointing in size.

Nice food, wasn't a big queue, so didn't have to wait long for food, they cooked the fish fresh, only draw back was they were only taking cash, NO card, overall though good service.

I've only just started using this shop and so far it's been great.The food is spot on and nice and hot when you get it home .

Been to other fish and chip shops in the area but this is the best. Very good and efficient service. Phone ordered. No long wait. Fish and chips/pie/sausage excellent and reasonable price. Highly recommend.

We have had numerous take aways and they have all been delicious with generous portions. We usually have a takeaway at lunch time the last being a set meal for four on my Birthday which was outstanding we ordered an extra special chow mien which is the best we have ever tasted.

Great plaice for fish and chips or chinese take-away. Me and my wife bought chicken and chips and fish and chips, we sat down by the sea and watched the sun go down. The food was excellent and the staff were very helpful. The portions were very generous. Thank you!

Don't go early as you get reheats. Very expensive compared to my local chip shops. Mostly nice food tho.

We called through a big order(20) meals - it was a housing project, we were not breaking any Covid rules. It was all ready with 30 mins notice. Beautifully wrapped, and labeled, and carried out to the car for me. The food was piping hot, and fresh. Everything was eaten, all clean plates. Thank you very much for all of the little extras.😉👍

Possibly, in my experience undoubtedly, the best chips to be had in Colwyn Bay, served by friendly, efficient staff. Being a non fish eater I have no recommendation to give, but for quality 🍟, look no further.

Had the beef and mushroom was very good and a lot of it on the tray well worth the money!!

Food wasn't great, was expensive and the point where some of the family arrived home with a dog and walked it through a food prep area kind of made me wish I hadn't ordered anything.

Best fish and chip shop in the area

Fish cooked while we waited, chips crisp and tasty. Portions were big and the price was very reasonable. Thoroughly enjoyable.

The rice was harder than a Serbian winter , the chips were cooked in oil that was drained from the A-Teams van. The chicken, well it was a wing of some sorts but I'm not going to big it up and name it chicken because it tasted more like Seagull. Genuinely the worst meal I've been served. Had a bag of chips here previously and they were OK. Not great, but edible you know. But this, well this was on another scale. Absolutely NO effort gone into cooking this. I'd be ashamed to serve this. Maybe it was an off night. But to be this off is unforgiveable.

Always excellent service and great food, whether you just have some chips or a full Chinese takeaway.

The fish and chips are pretty decent, the Chinese side however, is not the greatest. Not sure where the chef learned to cook. They have gone to great lengths during lock down to keep us safe, one big problem though, CASH ONLY! Why can't you get a chip and pin machine?? I don't want to touch money and then pass it around, makes no sense, spend a little money and get a chip and pin, in fact, some companies give them out for free and it doesn't cost you anything to use or set-up, come on James's, sort it out.
