We always have a great time at Jamaya. The food is delicious, I love their Sorrell punch and crispy wings. It's great for a girly brunch, date night, birthday celebrations or just some good food with friends. I'll definitely be returning and would recommend it over and over again.

Nice restaurant, good atmosphere, too bad there are a lot of waits but the staff is cool so that makes up for it. I prefer to go to the bar because their mocktails are exquisite and there is no waiting at the bar! I still recommend this restaurant if you are not in a hurry because they are honest and understanding and the food is good especially their plantain! This restaurant is very well located, on the corner of Victoria Square!

An absolutely wonderful meal last night. The food was full of flavour and very reasonably priced for a city centre restaurant. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere but what made it so special was the staff. As new customers we were given a free starter, our server actually challenged (nicely) our choices and made excellent suggestions as to an alternative dish for me - that proved to be excellent advice. The service was absolutely perfect - knowledgeable, interested, efficient, friendly and just the right level of attention. Charece, in particular, provided exemplary service. Brilliant!

Bottomless Brunch £35 12pm-4pm Food selection 9/10- food choice is good and the portion sizes are generous recommended the 2 mini jerk burgers with tenders Cocktail selection - 6.4/10 only because you only get 2 cocktails with your brunch the rest you have to pay £10 extra PP but the 2 cocktails that you are 10/10 definitely recommend trying the Rum Punch first

Staff were friendly and had a smile on their face when they spoke with us. Service was quick (it was a quiet night), but very still, can't fault it. The food...... awesome! I had a 1/2 chicken in a BBQ Jerk sauce and it was phenomenal! Perfect smoky flavour and just a hint of a kick! (I wanted to try the hot jersey but needed to get on a crowded train in the morning). I also had the rice and peas as a side and it was exactly as you would hope. I've given a 3 star atmosphere because it was a Wednesday evening and probably 9 people in the restaurant, the music was good and not loud, the staff were friendly and the other customers were quiet..... can't judge anymore than that.

The food came out late, and in dribs and drabs. I ordered the buffalo wings, and they were smaller than the Jerk wings. The waitresses must have asked us about 5 times if we had anything missing, which we had, we were waiting for the Jerk fries. The macaroni cheese was flavourless, and the buffalo wings were hot for being hot. I, for one, will not be returning here.

Got the sharing platter. Chicken was so tasty and really enjoyed the side dishes.

Was brought food from the wrong table at first, not a big deal but when the real order came they forgot the food for one guest which was strange since the waitress confirmed all 4 mains when we ordered. The guest had to wait for this to be cooked and brought out whilst the others ate - a little awkward. One of the mains we did get was very cold. After asking for it to be heated and waiting about 5 minutes we got another fresh plate which was also cold. This is meant to be stew so awkwardly I had to ask again if it could be served hot. By this time two of the guests had finished their mains and the other was halfway through leaving the last person to wait around for the 2nd attempt at serving a hot main. It wasn't even busy in the restaurant which made it a very disappointing experience and to top things off they still added the 15% service charge on the bill despite all their mistakes. Also, as we were leaving the staff gave us a funny look - like it's our fault they kept messing up our order and served cold food twice. A poor experience on the friendliness and customer service front.

I will forever keep coming here. We revived great service from David and the food was amazing.

I had a disappointing experience at this restaurant. Despite ordering a starter, it never arrived, yet I noticed I was still charged for it on my bill. What’s even more concerning is that not a single staff member took the time to check on me during the meal; there was no inquiry about the quality of the food or if everything was satisfactory. This lack of attention to customer service is unacceptable. Given my experience, I cannot recommend this place to anyone. I strongly advise potential diners to double-check their bills to avoid similar issues.

We dined here on Valentine’s Day for bottomless brunch and the service from Charece was exceptional. Very attentive and friendly. As it was Valentine’s Day we were treated to 2 heart shaped festival that were fluffy, flavourful and freshly made along with 2 glasses of Prosecco. We were extremely impressed with the how regularly the bottomless cocktail jugs were replaced, most times without us having to flag a waitress down which was refreshing.It was our second time dining with Jamaya and we have nothing bad to say at all. Delicious food and even better service along with a great atmosphere. Perfect for date night, girls/guys night out or even dining with the family.

My experience here was tainted by an overcharge on drinks. After contacting the Manager Charese to discuss, it was clear the customer service was poor. Make sure you get a receipt for purchases in this restaurant as they are not willing to investigate against their till receipt although I had evidence of the transaction from my bank. Will not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Get receipts for everything and watch out for the Service Charge before you tip.

Went in for dinner with few friends on weekday. The atmosphere was great, loved the interior & the music they were playing the background. The food was NOT worth the price they charge for the portion you get, it was very average. We ordered chicken tenders, chicken wings & chicken fillet with few sides. The service was a bit slow (though the restaurant was not busy) we struggled to get the waitress attention to bring us water we ordered for the table. Personally, wouldn’t go back again. One time try only.

Food was ok, not as good as Turtle Bay but not bad. I would have given 4 stars but after my visit I noticed a 'Discretionary Service Charge @ 10%' on my bill, even after leaving a cash tip - so I was charged twice. It really sours the experience when a restaurant adds their own tip without informing you - that’s just underhanded and basically theft – I won’t go back.

I had a booking yesterday 17:15 for my birthday. My birthday was mentioned in my booking, but I had no special treats from staff...so no attention to details... Also we waited a long time before being served, min 45min and the restaurant was not that busy. The jerk chicken could have been more seasoned. The overall experience could have been better for the price. Cynthia

Nice ambience here with a live DJ on a Saturday night, though a bit noisy but still a great place for a night out. The menu is based largely on chicken dishes with variety of options. I ordered the Jam Chicken & Rice and it is no disappointment - rice and peas are cooked to a fluffy texture, chicken is well seasoned, crispy outside and tender inside, complemented with the special gravy sauce which gives the whole dish a hit of spice. Service is a bit slow, staff seem pretty busy and it took a while to take our orders and for the food to be served.

Ive been all over the Caribbean and had some amazing jerk chicken so to say i was blown away by the quality and taste if the food here is no understatement. Litterally could not fault it. Went for a bottomless brunch and was left feeling more brunched that bottomless as the amount of food we got was anazing. Really good value gor money. Service was excellent and attentive. Rum punch on point. Queue at the door as we left so would recommend booking on weekends and fridays.

As my son would have said: the customer service was on point and the food was banging. I took my kids here, we were well fed with tasty food and a great atmosphere. This is my favourite Birmingham restaurant. I'll be coming here in the foreseeable future. Thanks, guys.

Food tasted amazing! What lets this restaurant down is the service. Bar staff were extremely rude and borderline aggressive. Food and drinks took far too long with staff not updating us on status. A real shame as the food was fantastic.

On Friday evening at 9.30.pm 17/1/25 my partner and I decided to visit while passing in Colmore Row.Not being sure of being to have a table we went inside and was greeted by a pleasant doorman who called over a server (Shayenne?) who took us to a table at the rear.Four females next to us were having a good time with lots of lovely dishes on the table.My partner and I ordered the chicken wings which were hot ,tasty and spicy we then ordered the chicken and rice in a brown sauce.Unfortunately the dishes which should have been hot arrived stone cold,the server took the them away to the kitchen and returned two minutes later with the dishes which had obviously been put in the microwave to re-heat!!.The chicken was just normal strips in batter and the sauce was non descript.The bill included a discretionary service charge which most restaurants now seem to be including on the bill as standard.By eating at the restaurant are customers not already creating employment for the staff and keeping the business going ?If I wish to tip the server I will do so personally and not to have the embarrassment of asking for the service charge to be removed.I may give this restaurant another visit in future as the vibe was good.

Can't lie place looked good felt good, good service barstaff especially!! " Morgan " clean toilets, but bwoi... the food, extremely disappointed, I had the plantain wrap, soo dry!! Needed something more then a sauce to dip into, the wings, OMG the flavour is better then kfc, but we had uncooked wings, still bloody nothing but grissle and fat still inside which to me means deep fried and on a timer, took them back twice and still no good, young chef still learning, eventually I hope he masters it, boys bday as well, he's callaloo was cold dry rice and peas, festivals are fire can't lie.. to many discrepancies, for a 5 star review food related!! Other then that, good spot too have a drink and chill, minus the food,🤔

Since I'm following a diet it was difficult to choose from the menu. However the waitress, Jade really helped me by making me feel less guilty for treating myself. She was so friendly and nice, she also knew the menu well so it was easy to choose and the food was surprisingly good.

We walked in for food here out of the blue. We weren’t disappointed. Food, drinks and service were fabulous. Jasmine our host looked after us very well. She explained the menu brilliantly. Would come again next time we are in Birmingham.

A dark, cold, wet evening at the Birmingham Christmas markets, people are dressed to be outside and enjoy the winter activities. Attempted to go for a meal at Jamaya Birmingham, I was refused entry for wearing a hat, i think my coat and scarf were acceptable. My family and I will never know what the food is like as we'll never try to go again

My friend and I had booked for what would have been our first visit to Jamaya Colmore Row. However, were unfortunately unable to attend due to personal circumstances beyond our control. Upon calling the restaurant at the soonest opportunity and explaining, I had been advised that the booking could be cancelled on the restaurants end which I had been extremely greatful for. However, later received an email to advise that a cancellation fee had been charged. Whilst I appreciate that reference to a cancellation fee is made in the confirmation email recieved, it would have been nice to have been reminded of this and/or given the opportunity to attend on an alternate date in light of the circumstances. To add insult to injury the fee was also charged twice and the restaurant had to be contacted in order to rectify this. I would love to rebook, however, this experience - along with the deafening silence in response to attempts made to converse with the restaurant regarding this experience (via email and Twitter) makes it a little off-putting to say the least. ** Update ** it would appear that a further review cannot be left, due to the above having being made in June 2022. On 29 December 2024, a surprise reservation had been made for me at JAMAYA Birmingham. I was a little dubious upon arrival given my previous booking experience, however, looked forward to the experience all the same. Upon entry the staff were attentive, though a number of staff came to our table within quick succession to ask if we were ready to order despite having just being seated and handed the menus, which was a little stifling and overwhelming. Once our order had been placed, though our drinks arrived relatively quickly, we waited over an hour for our food to arrive and and had to look on as tables who had been seated after us were served their food. When raised with a member of staff we were provided with a free drink each, though not ideal, the sentiment was appreciated. However, what was to have been a pineapple and lemonade mix was simply a watery pineapple juice and was not consumed. Once the food arrived the orders had been mixed up and were cold. My food was taken away and brought back moments later. Though, rather than a fresh meal be prepared, I was instead served the same plate which had been "put under the grill". I also sought clarity as to whether the individual who had originally brought out the plates had mixed them up, as he did not ask or seek to clarify who had ordered what or which jerk flavouring belonged to which plate and just put them down - a response could not be provided - this was despite prior to my food being taken away advising that I seemingly had been served the wrong plate. I'm unsure as to whether there was a change over of staff, or there was reduction in staff owing to shift times. However, there was also a considerable wait for the bill and to pay. The festivals were lovely, the plantain and Red Stripe's went down a treat. The ambience and concept are also great. It's just unfortunate that the Sunday roast offering and sorrell were extremely disappointing and a far cry from authentic. Thank you also for your response to my initial review, appreciated. It would have been great to have known about the piece around the incurred fee in the event of making a re-booking beforehand, or for this to be stated somewhere for future reference and the awareness of others.

took my daugher here for her 15th birthday and honestly we had a wicked day out with friends and family food 10/10 atmosphere was also 10/10 cocktails are also 10/10, and i must say the birmingham jamaya is way better then the in Solihull. Also just want to say a big thank you to Kay Whixh was our waiter very polite and also very well mannerd. Great for the money so defo will be returning.

This is the second tine I have visited Jamaya with my partner and we were impressed with the food on both occasions. The atmosphere was vibrant and we were served by a lovely girl called Amaya, she was very attentive to us and ensured that we felt comfortable. Thank you Amaya! :)

Very nice food and atmosphere. Our waiter was very attentive and pleasant. He brought a picture for my daughter to colour which was very thoughtful. Food came out in very good timing and the drinks were very nice.

I booked a table for my daughters 16th birthday dinner with her and her three besties. From the moment I opened the door, I was politelygreeted by Amoya, who saw me to the pre booked table. #BeyondBalloons was decorating the table. Amoya was so polite, customer service focused, and smiled throughout the whole time we were there, she was attentive and very focused, not just on us, but on all of her interactions with all customers. I would like to say thank you to Amoya, and Stefan for the service, it was perfect and was a wonderful start to my daughters 16th birthday, the food, mocktails and cocktails were also superb. Would definitely recommend Jamaya for its, food, atmosphere and excellent customer service.

A completely unacceptable experience at Jamaya yesterday. I arrived with my children at 15.30, hoping for a pleasant meal, but it quickly became clear this was a terrible choice. At that time of day, the restaurant had the lights dimmed and the music blaring so loudly that we couldn’t hear each other, making any conversation impossible. The issues began when I visited the men’s toilets, only to find there was no hand soap. I reported this to a staff member, but, nothing was done. When I checked the restroom again before leaving, there was still no soap – absolutely unhygienic and unacceptable. Our food took over 40 minutes to arrive, with no explanation or acknowledgment from staff. When it finally came, it was lukewarm at best. While one staff member offered to replace it, the excessive wait time left us with no choice but to decline, as we couldn’t afford to wait any longer as we had a cinema booking. The offered solution was a paltry 20% discount, which didn’t come close to addressing the many failings of our experience. By that point, I was so frustrated I just wanted to leave. This visit was a complete disaster from start to finish, and I will never return to Jamaya after such a disappointing and poorly handled experience. Google need to offer 0 stars as an option, because this doesn’t even deserve 1 star.
