I live on the Barbican but hadn't tried Jacka's for many years. I bought a steak pasty today based on these google reviews. The veg was undercooked and still quite hard, barely any seasoning and I had one very very small piece of steak in the whole pasty. Massively underwhelming and for a fiver it was terrible and i feel ripped off. I won't be going back or recommending. Quality control looks to be non-existent sadly.

I simply could not resist this bakery. I bought 5 products, so far eaten three...we shared a raspberry fool cake for dessert last night, which was moist, sharp, tangy and sweet. Simply delicious, and we had the lemon curd pastries this morning, which were demolished in a matter of minutes. Simply heavenly. Thank you, I can't wait to tuck into the remaining 2 over the bank holiday. I'll be back!!

We stopped for an iced coffee latte as it was an hot day and sat outside. The coffee was so nice we ended up getting a second one each. Staff were very friendly. The croissants on display looked amazing ( I just about managed to resist one). We bought a couple of the deli pies for tea and took them home. They were delicious, really tasty, lovely home made look and not the mass produced look you get with a lot of pies. Big chunks of chicken in them. Will visit again when in Plymouth for work. Definitely recommend .

The taste of pastries has gone downhill and they are not really value for money. But apart from that I did not like the attitude of the person serving. When I was about to pay I asked how much it was and the person said £7. I asked why and I was told it was typed wrongly so £6.50…what??? It looks like they were just rounding it up to screw me, no apology or explanation, that stinks. Serve with a smile, treat customers kindly and they will be back. Try to screw them and they will not come back. That simple. Think about that 👍

Woke up particularly early the creels after being told twice by staff members they sold out first thing. Not sure why, this was one of the worst pastries I’ve had. A bit heavy on the filling. Pastry itself was alright but they ruined it with the filling and overcharged. Also, only one flavour available. Not much choice at all, for what they consider their most sought after product. Was quite disappointed by the product. The filling was essentially three tablespoons of cheap caramel filling. The cake - white chocolate and raspberry. Just tasted like an Asda smart price Victoria sponge. Too sweet and too dry. Very overpriced for the quality of products provided. They’ve just essentially hyped themselves up on instagram and got their friends to do the same. I’ve had better from oggy oggy getting the pink finger .

As one of the oldest bakeries in the UK, it is a quintessential Plymouth institution, and one of my go-to bakeries here. Their sourdough bread, notably their malted barley loaf is my favorite. They do sell out of the creels (croissant wheels) by late morning, so do go early for them! The creels are lovely when they're fresh, so eat them quickly as they do lose their texture. Recommend: sourdough bread (including malted barley loaf), various creels, eccles Not notable: regular croissant, chocolate croissant, croissant cubes
