Popped in for a breakfast as I work down the road. Dawn was brilliant, got a deal. Big English Breakfast, as much as you want within reason. Left bloated very satisfied

Not a great place to stay with a family to be honest. Some very sketchy characters roaming the halls, other people knocking on our door and loitering outside the room when we were about. Very noisy outside in the smoking area, and then the icing on the cake was coming out in the morning to find my children’s father’s motorbike had been stolen from outside the hotel on the high street! I would not recommend this hotel or area to anyone

The room was well equipped and the staff was friendly and accommodating to my son’s needs. The only improvement would have been check in, was not clear where to go and was left for a while and not given clear instructions. Other than that it was good stay and I would recommend for anyone staying in Birmingham.

Heck of a trek up those stairs be prepared! Some of the evening meals were not up to scratch- especially the houllimi fries and the flat bread starters. But otherwise, this is a superb economic hotel, well worth the money. Cleanliness and helpfulness second to non. Stayed there twice now, would not hesitate to do so again. The breakfast is excellent and the staff are so helpful and kind, going above and beyond to assist my elderly dementia suffering mother when we visited for the evening.

Stayed here 2 nights for a family wedding in room 205 , no hot water first night and none on final morning when we left , management couldn’t care less here rooms shouldn’t be rented out if they don’t have the basics !

Room windows could do with a upgrade, secondary glazing only really dirty, shower door wasn't on the bottom rail. Was kept wake by people at the outdoor seating area and had to close the window due to the smell of cannabis coming into the room. How ever I could recommend the pizza 's delicious as we only arrived 1min before service ended i would like to thank the chef for staying on to cook it

Good place to stay for NEC clean rooms . Food like all other change pubs hit and miss. Needs some maintenance, shower doors keep coming off runners .No house keeping for the stay .

Nothing was particularly great. Rooms are dated, pull out bed for kids had dirty sheets and mattress so bad that the springs were poking through. Would have left and gone somewhere else if we weren’t getting up at 1am for flight

We are on holiday. What I liked about the accommodation was that the rooms are relatively far away from the restaurant, the beds are clean and the parking lot is free. What I didn't like is that the bathroom is very small and that there was no hot water for the shower on the second day because the boiler breaks down occasionally, as the staff said. The floors and the tables are sticky

Room was clean and tidy. Bed was very comfortable. 2 pillows provided per person which were of different comfort styles. Food in the pub was cheap and cheerful. Music was loud (im not complaining) but this couldn't be heard in our room. No noise at closing time either. Great stay, I will definitely stay again when visiting the NEC as it is only an 8 minute drive away.

Staff were friendly and attentive when iusing the restaurant for evening meal and breakfast. Good amount of parking for the location. Room was clean, Bed comfortable. Only downside for me was no orange juice for breakfast, Understood reasons why after talking to staff but maybe offer a carton of juice ?

Staff were grumpy and short when asked questions on check in. Food served in restaurant was poor quality. We were not informed breakfast was not included with the room until we arrived at breakfast so we just checked out and ate elsewhere. Wifi could not be connected too across whole of the stay, made working difficult in the evening. Pub was busy with reserved tables for match on the TV but we were not asked if we wanted to reserve a table for dinner when we checked in. Shower cubical is very cramped. Otherwise the room as clean.

Unpretentious hotel, but with the internal pub which gives it value in more rooms and eating is ok

There were pubes in the bathroom. There was no big light in the bedroom. Parking was free and plentiful. Black pudding wasn't cooked. Evening meal took ages to arrive and we had to chase drinks. The pudding we paid for never arrived.

Clean and efficient rooms. Decent food. On site free parking. Centre of village location which can get a bit rowdy.

Room very clean and visually fine. However room was cold as electric radiator does not work. It was dimly lit as neither bedside light worked. Also the shower door was out of its bottom track so swinging on the top runners. All of theses things should be checked and logged when the rooms are cleaned and sorted before the next guest arrive. Its basic stuff!

Cheerfully staff and helpful, free parking, good food, clean comfortable rooms. Overall the decor could just do with a touch up.

Noisy at night - people heard in next room talking same at 6am next morning. Very slow service in restaurant Fri night - 2 course meal took 3 hours to be eventually served and bill to be presented to us

Super venue, excellent for our trip to the NEC (Crufts). Great location both in respect to proximity to NEC & being on a High St with lots of good options for food and drinks- significantly preferable to stay at hotel on/around the exhibition site itself. Staff were super friendly and helpful- including night porter who helped when my wife thought she’d lost her phone Room was clean quiet and comfortable- not luxury but everything you needed for a couple of nights

Appears to being run down,poor management,rooms,public areas neglected. Bar staff were excellent.

Lovely cosy and quiet room (211) nice and clean. Bathroom lovely and clean too. My only issue is that the shower door is broken as it's come off the door rail. Otherwise, I was happy.

Everything was great, there was everything that we needed in the room, a pleasant surprise for what we paid!

- It did the job. - Waited a bit to check in and we had staff standing around talking and staring at us but it took a while for someone to check us in. - The bedroom was quite nice, however the mattress was very hard and not to our taste. The room was a little dull with only wall lighting. The lock for the door was quite hard to get into. The telly being very off side to the bed, threw us off and the loudness of the adverts vs the loudness of the movie was very different (probably more of a tv thing) however plugs next to the bed was very helpful. - The evening food was good, however the staff would prefer to stand around gossiping and occasionally stare at us but would never check in on us, no one asked if we were enjoying the food or anything and it took a while for us to be served/order taken and for plates to be collected. You had to wait for someone to walk by before asking for something and even then they would try to avoid us like the plague, they even seemed annoyed if you asked them for something.. we did order some sauces with our meal that didn’t come when our meal was served, so we asked for them and that seem to cause some annoyance. -I only saw one of the girls that worked smile when what looked like a regular spoke to her, I’m not sure if they would rather wait on the regulars in the bar sections rather than the restaurant side. - Breakfast, we decided to order on the app because we knew having our order taken was gonna take a while.. and we were right. - The breakfast was below par with waffles tasting shop brought, very disappointing. - Checking out was the only quick thing that happened.

Meals very nice well prepared served hot.plenty of chouce.plenty parking have to put regin the machine inside the place. We only are there.

Good meals, friendly staff, own car park. Bad was the toilet seat would not stay up and was loose. The shower door was of the runners, I had to hook on. The door opening was tight on the shower. The room was very clean, the kettle worked and had plenty of tea & coffee. Have stayed there before about 4 times and will use again in the future.

First impressions,the place looked tired and the corridor smelled musty.The room and bedding seemed clean but on entering the bathroom we found used towels hanging on the back of the door. It made me concerned what else had been missed. Shower cubicle was very small and whilst I appreciate refillable bottles are more environmentally friendly there was very little in the bottles and think they should be filled up more regularly. The architrave on the door had been cut away so the new handle would fit and it looked totally bodged. We ate in the restaurant,or in fact we didn’t as the food was inedible,we sent it back and ended up eating in the chip shop across the road. The service in the restaurant was slow and the whole place seemed run down and unwelcoming. The remains of the carvery were strewn over the floor .Had a terrible sleep due to an uncomfortable mattress,it was like sleeping on concrete. Breakfast was a meagre affair with the only choice being a self service cooked option. There was no other choice and nothing for vegans or those preferring a lighter option. There were dirty plates stacked near the buffet,rather off putting. On leaving the room the cleaners had wedged open all the fire doors ,despite signage stating they must be kept shut.All in all it was a terrible stay and would not recommend to anyone or pay a return visit.

We stayed here to be close to Birmingham Airport, so this hotel has a good location. When we arrived, there was nobody to check us in. We waited for a while at the bar before an off Duty member of staff booked us in. We stayed in room 218, which was quiet and clean. The room had a nice big bathroom. Sadly this hotel does not have a lift, so I had to carry 2 large suit cases up 2 flights of stairs. This hotel is old, so I can understand the lack of a lift. £79 a night is quite good value compared to other chain hotels located nearby charging £130 ‐£160 a night. The restaurant had run out of meat on the night I stayed so no Carvery. I ordered a cheese burger and a pizza. I waited 35mins for my meal, when it came it was a normal burger. I couldn't be bothered to complain, so I just ate it. To be honest it was a nice burger, but not what I ordered. The waitress that served us was nice, and was attentive. All in all not a bad stay,and I'd possibly stay again.

Friendly and quick service from all the staff

Room 100 was big and spacious, i was woken at 6am by the delivery being made (cages rolling on concrete). I was also kept awake by the security door slamming between the restaurant and the stairs plus heavy footed people climbing the stairs. The restaurant was not clued up on gluten free not did it have a lot to offer for anyone with allergies. The breakfast was awful - fried eggs were rubbery, no toaster available and a very blunt poster stating so. Hot drink facilities were very basic. We did not eat breakfast there again and incurred cost because of it. There was heavy rainfall one morning and the ceiling started to pour water.

Location good and staff friendly. Stayed in room 106. Bed comfortable and warm but toilet seat and bedside lamp broken and one other lamp bulb not working. Breakfast was good but cooked English only ie no orange juice, cereals, yogurt or fruit!

Good off street parking, pleasant and helpful staff. The room was fresh and clean. Food was good but I would have liked the choice of juice with breakfast.

Very convenient for staying before a trip from Birmingham airport. Airport was 10 mins away via taxi

had a great stay at this hotel night before we went on holiday and gave us opportunity to go to cadbury land before we booked in at 3pm fab sunday dinner and breakfast and room was really quiet did not hear a thing all night even tho there was kareoke on that night.

Ok place for contractors but not good for general stop over with families

Can not fault this hotel at all. Staff we're amazing. Food was as expected and rooms we're clean and comfortable. Great location too.

Disappointing that carvery not available after 7pm

I thought the room we stayed in was perfectly fine, even though the bedroom window was open i thought a fan could of been useful. This was only realised about 3 in the morning.

It was nice to stay in the hotel. The staff was very professional and kind.

Stopover on the way to Portsmouth. Rooms were clean and comfortable and just what was needed. Staff were lovely and all you can eat breakfast was delicious and very well cooked.

No aircon, first night very limited menu and very noisy. Would not recommend.

Comfortable room, easy access to food and drink with safe parking and very easy access to the airport.

The room was nice and comfortable but a little fridge with drinks would have been helpful. Also, it would be nice to get a little bottle of water every day. The weather was very hot and there are no shops open after 6/7pm on week ends. Also, Aircon is a necessity because it was hard to actually sleep and we could not open the window properly. Last but not least, we had to count ourselves out of breakfast since the only option was English breakfast or other things we did not fancy. There were no pastries available either, unless I am mistaken. Apart from that, the staff was very nice and helpful and again the room very clean and comfy.

The room was lovely, had all you needed and was very presentable. The staff were fantastic and nothing seemed like to much for them the kitchen staff included. We really enjoy our stay and would likely book again when needed there.

Good location and close to coleshill industrial estate, was looking a bit tired

Staff very friendly and efficient. Room was a good size. Excellent shower. Everything was spotlessly clean. Very comfortable and quiet.

It was a really a bad choice. I have selected a family room since my children were 12 and 15. But it only included one sofa bed, which was not enough to sleep for two children. The hotel's check-in policy is terrible, as there is no flexibility at all. We arrived o the hotel from Dundee at 2.45 p.m. But, the staff at the reception gave the application form sharp at 3 p.m., stating that this is hotel policy. I was so disappointed, as we were really tired after an 8-hour drive. Every week I come to Birmingham, but this was the experience I received. The hotels cleanliness and facilities are very good.

Quiet little place offering most things a traveller needs

I was met with warm welcome. It was easy to park my car and I found the room to be spotlessly clean and that I had in the room, everything I needed. There is good security to prevent unauthorised access to the Lodge. The self service breakfast was more than adequate.

Was a very pleasurable stay food was bang on, could have done with a lift to top floor

The food was great. I opted for the carvery on on the first night and enjoyed it so much I had it again the next night. The bar staff were friendly and the pub had a good atmosphere. As for the breakfast I was compelled to tell the waitress that it was the best hotel Breakfast I had had for quite some time. Everything was Good and hot, cooked perfectly and the kitchen staff were quick to remove anything that was suffering under the heat lamps. I will be working in the area again and will most certainly be re booking this venue.

The room was very clean with all facilities, bed was nice and comfortable too. In the bar the shelves and fridges were well stocked and the drinks were served to a good standard, the staff were very good indeed. Every evening there was something going on and the major sporting events were screened. Food was very good too!

Absolutely loved our couple of nights away here really easy for the NEC :0) and central Birmingham but the touch that made it so special was the staff are incredible 😀 5☆☆☆☆☆ to the breakfast chef who helped me to be able to eat every morning as I have very limited dietary requirements due to major surgery earlier in the year. Excellent stay and we will be back regularly 😁😁

Check in was smooth, staff were very helpful and friendly, room was lovely and warm and very clean. Couldn't hear any noise in the room from downstairs either

Had to cancel on arrival full refund was processed easy. The Room wasn’t a double as booked and at top level along a lot of stair’s & corridors unsuitable for our mobility needs & potential risk in emergencies. Looked clean & tidy & we did have drinks & food later after finding another hotel nearby

Staff were great but disappointed when wanting a vegan cheese based pizza as advertised on the menu there was no cheese available. The bathroom shower screen didn’t close properly so leaked over the floor, the toilet seat was loose & full length mirror was missing with the screws still protruding out of the wall.

Very pleasant and helpful staff anything asked was never too much trouble 10/10 food was lovely too, rooms where lovely and clean and always smelt lovely and fresh when we returned at the end of the day 10/10 to your cleaning staff :)) the only thing that would personally for me improve my next stay would be the TV as we couldn’t watch anything due to it freezing all the time but apart from that minor thing everything was great and just booked a further stay :) I will highly recommend your hotel to my friends

Great Food, clean,staff Improve Door handle in bathroom reported as we couldn't get out and luckily had each other to help. Also mirror in bedroom needed despite provision of hairdryer

The staff were friendly, the rooms were clean and tidy and the food in the restaurant was really. On site car park is good too.

Room was clean and properly equipped. The wifi was awful, I was there for 3 nights. The food, and food service was more like a school dining room and not a very clean one either. Breakfast was good. Evenings were not. The carvery was passable with some very strange vegetable concoctions. Tried something from the menu , waited 45 minutes for it and it was outstandingly bad! Will never go there.... ever, again

Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast good. Room was clean, although there were some insects coming up through the drain in the shower. However I was repeatedly woken during the night by people coming and going through the main door next to my room, and also somebody deciding to empty the bins at 3:30am. Friends in rooms upstairs all complained about how hot the rooms were and did not sleep well either.

We had a great stay! The team were super friendly and helpful (we met people from the kitchen, bar, housekeeping, and maintenance). The location was great! I hadn't realised when I booked that there was a bus stop right outside the hotel that would take us into the city and out to the NEC (we were there for the Commonwealth Games). The room was comfortable and spacious enough and super clean!! We had a great view over the rooftops out to the fields and it was wasn't noisy at all, even on the Friday night.

Need a double bed? Push the two singles together?? Need two rooms close together with cot in one? No cot and the rooms could not have been further apart? Family room directly above loud live music!! Not our fault blame Booking. com!! I'd complain about the service if there had been any!!!

Staying here now 23/07. This is a nice hotel, rooms are very, very clean and done to a good standard a few marks and scuffs on the walls but is nice. Bathroom is modern and quite large. pub is a reasonable price. I stayed Friday to Saturday and breakfast wasn't served until 8am which is a bit late as I was out by 8am. Communal areas are clean, well signposted and easy to navigate. Bed is comfortable, you have a TV, dressing table, kettle, the usual. My biggest issue was that my room was above their kitchen back door which was very noisy. Around 06:15 to 07:00 they had a delivery which meant cages beging moves, pump trucks being moved, people talking. Rooms are warm so you have to have windows open this noise woke me up as it was very, very loud. Unfortunately this ruined by experience with the hotel and will make me consider if I'd be using them again. Stayed in room 106, but with how the hotel is built I imagine many rooms would have a similar issue. Room 106 is also near a door in the corridor which is not soft close and therefore makes a noise. Although the location is good, rooms are nice and staff are friendly, sleep was poor which is very important when you stay in a hotel.

Warm welcome, pleasant staff, friendly environment. Only one little niggle, I specifically booked a double room and got a twin. I was travelling for business on my own, but I find it difficult to relax in a single bed. Not the end of the world, but not what I had requested!
