Hunters has always been a classic spot for me. The bakery is amazing. The café has good service, delicious meals and snacks and coffees. Staff seemed a little rushed despite there not being a queue. Amazing place.

This was underwhelming in all honesty. The food was ok, nothing spectacular. The booths were not very comfortable. I am plus size, however my family members who are very petite also found the booths uncomfortable. Once we got our food, we had to go up several times to get things such as butter for the scone and milk for the tea etc, which really should be given along with the meal. It definitely wasn't the worst place I've been to, but I doubt I will be back.

Really good bakery with plenty of choice the wheaten is the best in the area , sausage rolls are big and filling and the cake are fantastic. People travel from all over to visit Hunters and enjoy their food. A must if you’re near Limavady.

Not a big selection of food available. Lady behind the counter was extremely rude when I tried to order food for my toddler. Abruptly told me to ‘move on and it’ll come down to you’. Younger staff are lovely and friendly but this particular worker always comes across rude and unbothered . Was very expensive for what we got.

So disappointed with our experience in Hunters today. Attended for lunch with my in-laws at approx 1:30pm, to be met with what I can only describe as an abysmal choice for lunch. Soup, chips, sausage rolls (2 kinds) and a few filled baguettes was the entire menu. As my partner is vegetarian we asked if the filled baguettes could be made to order, we were told quite abruptly that no, 'whats out is what we serve'. Ended up ordering the only vegetarian option available aside from the soup which was a feta&chickpea sausage roll (which to be fair was delicious). Chip portions were TINY. I then asked for a side salad to be added to the sausage rolls and the lady serving acted as if I had just asked her to spit on my plate. The attitude of this particular lady made us feel like we were inconveniencing her to the highest degree by trying to order a decent meal from the shambles available. Only my mother in law was there I would have left. Would not recommend to anyone.

Pastries stale - this relates to hunters Ballykelly. I always stop of when passing through to pick something up. The staff are great and the food looksGood but the pastries are far from fresh. The rocky road and tray bakes always taste like they have been laying around for days. So I suggest you dump unsold pastries at the end of each day and provide fresh each day.

I have worked in Limavady for 30 years and have been to every cafe in the town, i have tried them all and would put Hunter's at the top of the list. There tea scones and bread are freshly baked every morning not yesterdays heated up like a lot of the other cafe's, Missing my daily vegetarian multigrain sandwich due to this coronavirus lockdown.

Was in for the first time in a long time. The selection of buns and cakes was great. Lovely to see pecan pie....don't often see it, and was nice to have the option of ice cream to go with it.The cafe decor is dated in ways, but the soft seats were well looked after and weren't ripped like I've seen in other places. Had to wait a couple of minutes to be served, despite no one ahead of us, and some of the tables needed a wipe, but those are the only downsides from our visit. There's a bakery and gift shop attached, which are lovely, and well laid out.

I was in Hunters today with my mum and sister and because I’m vegetarian I always ask what they have for vegetarians, I was then told... “either tomato salad or mashed potatoes or a baked potato” For a cafe that says “vegetarian friendly” and offering someone a baked potato as the vegetarian option or a salad I am appalled! The staff were also rude to my family and felt like they just wanted to get people in and out as quick as possible. Will not be visiting here again.

Maybe it's because I'm from Limavady that I keep giving this place another chance, but now that the town has some really good cafés it's time to face the truth. This place has had it's day and trading on the relative popularity of the still overpriced attached bakery and gift shop can only go so far. Most of the positive comments in other reviews refer to the bakery and not the café which unfairly inflates the overall rating of the place. The café is dark and dirty, the food and coffee are average at best and overpriced, the staff are rude and disinterested and the toilet facilities are disgusting. In conclusion if you must eat in Limavady..eat elsewhere, there's plenty of choice!

My family and I visited Hunter’s as we have done when we travel to Northern Ireland for many years. We ordered soup and a baked potato. The 2 soups (vegetable and potato & leek) were stodgy and tasteless - look like they had been reheated (or heated too long). The baked potato had the consistency of soup and was sour - again over cooked. There was one person we could see busing the tables so many had dishes on them. Due to this we tried to sit at the high table section - the seats provided do not let you actually get your legs under the table - I had to stand to eat. In general it was very noisy with background fans and packed in seating. We normally stay for cake and coffee after lunch - we decided not to this time. Advice - look for an alternative - shame as I have gone to Hunter’s since I was child (4+ decades) but it has gone downhill.

Me my sister and two nieces were looking forward to a nice lunch out..wouldnt make up a sandwich mix and asked why the server got agitated and said because the manager says so..i ended up having to get everything separate and make my own sandwich..my baby niece got mash and gravy which was full of lumps and uncooked potato and went sent back was told all the mash was like this..we got a scoop of beans to mash down for her which we were charged for..my other niece got bacon which was hard overcooked and full of fat she couldnt eat it..the hot plate was set in front of my niece to burn her hands on when we initially spoke to the staff they appeared to be negative and have an attitude..this isnt suprising as when i spoke to the manager she too was very unsympathetic and was told it is our preference not to make sandwiches like that..ive never had a problem anywhere.else very weird..its not suprising there is an unmotivated team when as i asked other people the manager is well known for her attitude..the cafe is a poor reflection of a good bakery in limavady and ballykelly..will never be back..maybe a new manager would be the answer!!

On arriving we thought this looked to be a lovely bakery & restaurant. We were served by a very abrupt lady who barely gave us time to think what we wanted. We decided on salad & an iced vanilla slice to share. Firstly, we thought it was extremely expensive for all we had on our plate. Secondly the lettuce was brown & the tomato had obviously been sitting from the day before as it was so soggy. We got one slice of the thinnest & poorest quality ham I've ever been served. To finish it off the vanilla slice was obviously sitting for a few days as cream was starting to go off and tasted more like cheesecake. Also pastry was hard as the Road. We decided to visit the ladies to be met by the strongest odour of urine and toilet paper lying on floor.. dirty hand basins and a disgusting hand drier that was broken and rusted.. there was no toilet roll either.. On closer inspection we noticed on our departure that there was dust everywhere and floors were covered in food particles. Hardly good enough where food is being cooked and served. Sorry but I wouldn't recommend this place.. stale food and dirty

The atmosphere is really the main thing going for the place. The food is more of a "greasy spoon" type experience rather than anything fresh, and paying for sachets of sauce etc is a bit much given the high cost of the food. Hunters is an established business in Limavady who have been Artisan Bakers for a couple of generations. The Cafe does not match the bakery in these terms - usual cafe type menu and the interior needs a renovation very badly. The staff are not that friendly, don't know why because Limavady and the Roe Valley is such a friendly place. Rick Stein recommended this bakery in one of his books a few years ago, however I think he might be disappointed with it now. The breads they do are good - try the course wheaten - best I have ever tasted. Crusty bloomer is really good - Steam yeast baked french bread - yum ! They have a decent selection of buns and cakes - need to get in early in the day to have a good selection. I hope it gets better and soon, this cafe could do with a new lease of life.

This bakery, with restaurant and gift/homeware shop is in a great location in Limavady town and is a long-established family-run business. The restaurant 'The Oven Door' has been a popular meeting place for decades. The gift shop has some beautiful, though expensive, merchandise and the bakery is excellent. The food om the cafe is quite nice too, but I was taken aback to see someone ask for a pancake and be told that they should go to the bakery counter and buy it and bring it back to have them with your coffee (why couldn't the server go get it for the customer?). Another time an elderly gentleman in front of me at the cash point with his cup of tea and a scone was asked if he would like butter and jam (few wouldn't want butter with a scone!) and was then charged an EXTRA 10p for a pat of butter and (I think) 15p for a little plastic pack of jam. Called in with my wife on June 23rd for tea/coffee and something to eat- tables not cleared, dirty tables, dirty cutlery, apathetic staff who made no attempt to engage customers -the whole place looked tired and well worn and did nothing to recommend it- we will not be back again-there are nicer places to eat in Limavady as I found out afterwards

Yes, it's got a seventies feel but isn't that fun / nostalgic, depending on your age? It's an experience! Had the best toasted sandwich ever with thick cut fresh granary bread and home made coleslaw. Desserts and cakes take the eye out of your head. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Love to take my mum here for tea scones and traybakes when shopping. The white chocolate and raspberry scones are delicious as are any of their pastries. Already looking forward to our next visit

Me and my mother decided to call into Hunters for a light bite one afternoon. From the outside Hunters looks lovely and modern. However it's far from modern. The staff were very polite and efficient. The place was very busy and we have to sit up on the bench area. The surroundings are soooo outdated and are verging on the point of grotty. I did like the booth style but it is in desperate need of a make over. I would say the place has not been redecorated since the smoking ban. The food was very average but the selection of cakes and puddings are way above average. I would certainly return to Hunters but I would only have tea and cake. You can also take away from this facility which is great. If they put someone in to refurbishment this place would be a real award winner. One thing that put me off was that there was a lady going around with a cart scraping of plates and clearing booths. This was just disguising and off putting.

it's nice, decent menu and has good seating but I felt it's a bit overpriced compared to some other cafes in the town which offer the same standard of food. I am sure it is a good place to go for a leisurely coffee and chat rather than a quick stop with 3 youngsters!

Hi was visiting Limavady on a business trip and came across a great cafe called Hunters. I was serviced by a lovely girl who was polite, friendly and absolutely wonderful. Her name is Debbie and she made me a delicious Latte and served to me a lovely lunch. I just wanted comment on the wonderful customer care I received and was very lucky to be served by the delightful Debbie.

I was disgusted to see the comments on tripadvisor that refers to Debbie in Hunters being a devil. Thats awful and so untrue. My daughter and I are regulars at Hunters for many years and my husband occasionally joins us. Debbie is a lovely person who is warm and friendly. My little girl adores her. In fact one of the main reasons we return to the cafe is the friendly and helpful customer service from Debbie and the other girls who work behind the counter and clearing tables. The coffee and buns are good too!

I've been here quite a few times and the food has never disappointed me. Large portions and reasonably priced. The staff have always been pleasant. Handy parking ( payable) outside.

We had a great family celebration, made easier by the great care from Anthony and team. I would highly recommend the corner bar for any celebration. It is wheelchair accessible too!

We had a disappointing experience that could have been improved significantly by the host’s actions. Initially, the host informed the group in front of us that there would be a 15-minute wait, and we patiently waited. When that group was seated, we expected to be next, but another party was seated ahead of us. To avoid being overlooked again, we chose to sit inside. However, the host approached us and stated that we could not cut in line. We explained that we were behind the group that had just been seated and ahead of the other guests. The host claimed she did not remember speaking to us, despite having addressed me directly earlier. It was clear that we were distinguishable from the other guests. She seemed frustrated and managed to find us a table. A few minutes later, she returned to clarify that it was one of her colleagues who had spoken to us initially and that she had been in the restroom at that time. She said it was the "other blonde" that we spoke to. She herself was not blonde and was the only one seating people the whole time.
