Large mixed meat kebab and chickens must be 3 pieces of chicken. The burger rubbish on a standard cob, the lettuce horrible and brown. Avoid, will never order again.

Good service from the staff. Chips and kabab were great but the batter on the fish was too thick and therefore the fish was way too oily.

Beeston's most underrated chippy. The fish is always excellent, the chips good, and the service is friendly. Prices are keen too.

Absolutely appalling customer service, Had a delivery, of spam fritter bread roll, jacket potato with cheese beans and salad, jacket came with just butter, rang shop to ask about order. Told me wasn't his fault it was the driver and a new member of staff. Asked if he could delivery rest of order he said no ring just eat for a refund. Just eat charges £6 for the call plus mobile charges. Explained this to humber road chippy and he hung up on me. Will never spend another penny in that shop again. I will go into the shop to get my apology in person. This is not the first time order has been wrong, he was just very rude.

Great little place, always really friendly and happy to chat to customers. Their speciality is mushy pea fritters...and if you've never tried them, you really are missing out! An absolute delicacy! Decent burgers and kebabs too. My only grouch is that they aren't open 24hrs😄 Highly recommended stop off for the hungry.

Went here with my now ex girlfriend a few years ago, and had really bad fish tasted off was very disappointed. Felt were stingy with Chios this was about 3 years ago perhaps better now but reluctant to give another chance

Very pleasant transaction with the lady at Humber Road- a positive, can-do attitude given the complex family order I made. The food was hot, tasty and affordable along with excellent service. Top job!

Great kebab and very friendly staff

I went late on a Saturday night around 9.30. Cooked me a small fish from fresh in 5 minutes, £5 with a decent portion of chips. Great value and quality:)

Disappointingly tasteless. Gravy was awful, thick & almost black, yet oddly both smelled & tasted of nothing. Fish was cooked fresh (I think) but batter was soggy & again the whole thing tasted of nothing. Chips were meh. Shame as it's local, but I won't be going back.

The one star is for managing to park outside. Our meal; consisting of a chicken kebab, mini fish, small chips, large curry sauce (chip shop style) and a small hot chilli sauce was inedible. On entering the establishment I was greeted nicely and asked what I’d like...brilliant so far but I looked around on a Saturday evening and saw that I was the only person (apart from a family member) in the shop. Anyway, I placed an order for a mini fish which took 2 minutes (great!) On my short drive home, there was a smell coming from the chip shop bag; the smell was the curry sauce that didn’t have the lid on properly, so it had escaped into the bottom of the carrier bag. Once home, I dished up the slop that was supposed to be our Saturday evening treat. Where do I start? A) The chicken kebab meat had a few bone splints inside and was very mushy B) The mini fish was mushy, didn’t taste like fish and the batter was fried in week old oil. C) The chips were slimy and brown/green and cooked in old oil D) The curry sauce was a mess in the bottom of the bag so I can’t comment on taste E) The chilli sauce was just chucked away with everything else after merely tasting each item. Sorry Humber Road chippy, you may have had an off day today. But after this experience I will not be visiting again. Everything went in the bin.

Busy, staff not too friendly, chips nice but need seasoning

Fantastic fish and chips, or anything else you may have from here. Been loads if times and cant say i have ever had a bad one. Pleasent staff, decent prices, quality food, what more could you want from a decent chip shop.

Just been in and ordered. Had to wait for food to cook which is fine. Then my whole order wasn't complete. I was then told that it was my mistake which it wasn't. I was then charged again for the this. she forgot. This is the second time this has happened. I will not be using again. It a quite sad that you are made to look stupid for their mistake. Customer service very lacking.

Great chippy, bought a large fish, chips, peas and gravy for £8 and it was lovely. Chips were piping hot and the fish was delicious. Staff were also very friendly.

My God a don't know we're these nice chips are what everyones talking about but I read these reviews and decide to try this chip shop. 6.10.18 I went and saw the customer in front ordered chip and I saw they was a bit stale so I asked if there was any fresh chips being cooked as the lady reyreyies very rudely " they are fresh". So I decided to take her word for it and have some thinking " they must be just rustic" well I have never tasted such filth ever! They was probably fresh about 3 hours ago!! Plus it's says 5 star hygiene rating I'm guessing they made sure the raw chips wasn't kept on the floor in a dirty cleaning bucket when they was inspected!! I would rather stick hot pins in my eyes that give them a penny of my money again!! Rude and foul food !!!!

It's a proper chippy with proper good chips. Good value and friendly staff. Highly recommended.

Great place to come to clean and pleasent great food

We bought a portion of fish and chip today (Friday, 17 August 2018, around 12.15 pm) and drove home about 5 mins away. The food was cold, the fish was inedible, and the chips seemed to have been made the day before and reheated. It was absolutely appalling.

It's hard to believe some of the bad reviews here, someone with 1 bad experience in 40 years will never go there again!! Humber Rd is not my nearest chippy but I go there once a week because it is the best chippy around, it has changed hands but quality has stayed high, staff very friendly, very reasonable prices, a lot of food cooked to order, may take a little longer but much better quality. My favourite is the kebab no plate of grease like with kebabs from some chippys in the area. Of course there may an occasional slip up, people will freely write about bad experiences but rarely about good experiences. So here is my GOOD Review

This used to be one of the best chippys but recently the quality of the food is not the same, It has new owners now and after a couple of visits we won't be going again, they have changed the oil they fry in, resulting in soggy batter and horrid chips, the fish used to be huge with lovely crispy batter but now it's like any other bog standard chippy ! Why oh why new owners have you changed the one thing that made this chippy so special ?? Completely ruined the chippy and making money off its good reputation. Previous owners we miss you.

The food was good and the portions were quite abundant... Got a simple cod and large chips and it was prepared on the spot, did not have to wait long for that anyway... and the large chips are quite large!! All in all good.

I had originally ordered a small fish and chips and was delighted when (after some hushed whispering between the staff) I was offered a large for the same price. They told me that there was no small fishes left and they didn't want me to have to wait. Assuming the whispering had simply been them deliberating over the kind gesture, I happily walked home with my takeaway, thinking about how nice they'd been. However, I realised as soon as I got home and opened it that I had made a mistake. The chips were completely cold and cardboard-like, the fish was so dry and rock hard that parts of it couldn't even be sliced into (literally, I had to throw half of it in the bin) and I was able to make it through only half of the portion (purely because I'd paid money for it) before having to chuck the rest. I know now that the deliberation between the staff had purely been over whether they could use me to get rid of some of the food they'd probably had sitting out all day. To this day I've never walked past this chippy and seen it busy inside, so I guess now I know why!

DONT GO HERE AT ALL!!!! They served me stone cold food, when I returned to the shop 5 mins after getting home and finding out my food was cold, i was spoken to in a very abrupt manner saying that they were not prepared to refund me for my order. i then asked for a number of the owner. The shop assistant gave me a number, where i then asked "would that get me through to the owner" which her reply was "yes". so i went home and rang the number she assured me would take me through to the owner. when i rang, it rang through to the shop were the lady i had just spoken to answered. i asked her why she had lied to me and i received no answer she had put the phone of the hook and i could hear her cleaning in the background and using foul language against me to another member of staff. i put the phone down and rang again to see if i would get a better response all i got was the same things again. after the 7th time ringing i gave her my number for the owner to ring me back as I clearly wasn't getting anywhere, 10 minutes later he rang back and promised me a full refund. so i returned to the shop and asked for owner, he came out in a very aggressive manner and said "oh its you, i wanted to see who you were" then proceeded to argue shout and point at me, when i said "all i came down for was my money back" they refused to refund me. then offering less then half of my money back which he waved in my face, when i refused saying i wanted a FULL refund, they started to get very aggressive and told me i was "very argumentative" even though they asked me to come down to the shop in the first place for the sole purpose of arguing with me, so they had wanted me to return to the shop under false pretences. so lying to me again!!! after refusing to leave unless I got the promised full refund for my order they rang the police. all in all I WOULD AVOID AT ALL COST!!!!!! I HAVE NEVER BEEN TREATED SO BADLY LIKE THIS BEFORE!!!!!! I also have still not received a full refund and will be taking matters to trading standards. In my opinion it doesn't even deserve the one star!

Lovely chips, and the staff are friendly

If you want a decent portion of tasty 'chippy' chips at a fair price and are thinking of going to Humber Road chip shop in Beeston, think again. A £2.30 'large' chips should be as such. I weighed the portion we were served when I returned home, without the excessive packaging and it came to 412 grams. If this is a large, I dread to think what people are served up as a 'small' portion. To put this into perspective, you can buy 500g of loose potatoes at a local supermarket for 60p and undoubtedly, Humber Road chip shop will be purchasing their potatoes in bulk, at a significantly lower price than this. But it's not all about portion sizes, I like my chips to contain a lot of potato. These were obviously cut thinner and smaller to give the impression that there were more. This caused the chips to be overly crisp and there was a small number of burnt chips. Staff in chip shops are usually quite chatty and friendly, too. When making my order, I felt like I had interrupted a wake. Wont be using Humber Road chip shop again and it doesn't come recommended. There are plenty of other chip shops around Beeston, all of which offer a better end product.

Excellent fish and chips and friendly staff. The portions are generous and although fish and chips is now an expensive meal, you really get value for money at the Humber Road chippy! Would recommend!

Best chippy in Beeston. Massive portion sizes even for the biggest if belt sizes. Great meal deals and friendly happy staff. Top notch stuff.
