I have eaten here before and the food is always lovely and the service ., Last night I went and must say it’s the worst food and service I received. I am not sure if the current owners are away . Very disappointing . There was no table cloth on our table . The boy that served us wasn’t at all pleasant . There was food left on other tables not cleared away . I had to ask for knifes & forks plus napkins . If this was my first visit I certainly wouldn’t be returning again .

Absolutely superb place to visit for excellent food the staff were amazing and very welcoming, the restaurant was more busy than a cucumber in a women’s prison, however we had a superb time here and definitely enjoyed it

Having been to this restaurant several times before and having pre booked it upon arrival was informed that it was cash only and no card payments l wasn't told this when booking by phone.To be honest the ambience and decor including the tables/tablecloths looked quite in need of replacements. The lady who took our orders was pleasant the drinks came and we ordered starters Spring rolls / chicken skewers, the latter was hard, chewy and difficult to remove from the skewer either over cooked or been on the skewer for some time. Before the main courses arrived we was attended to by staff that looked very young and hadn't got a clue on how to serve at a table, items of cutlery were dropped on the table in a pile, heated trays were placed on top of each other and the table presentation was a total mess. The food itself was OK not the best by far small pieces of meat plenty of sauce but edible. After the meal was finished we did have to leave the table to get the bill although there was no one else in the restaurant and although there was only four of us the bill was quite expensive and you got the impression they wanted you to leave so they could lock up albeit only 9.30pm. Although we have always enjoyed a visit here over the years after tonight l think we will try somewhere else as it was a disappointing culinary experience and we all agreed we didn't enjoy the evening at all, l do hope the proprietors can re establish the standard they used to have because l think other guests may be of the same opinion as we all were,

This was absolutely the worst dining experience ever!! It completely ruined my family dinner!! I'd taken out my family, party of 5 - for Father's day, and also to celebrate my parents wedding anniversary.. We booked at table at 6pm, and arrived on time. We told the server when we arrived that my mother was diabetic and needed to have 10 mins notice before eating so that she could take her insulin. We were advised we would be waiting 25 mins for food. By 8pm, almost 2 hrs after bing seated - we were absolutely starving and had only received our starters. I complained, only to be told the main course would still be another 45 minute wait!!! What kind of Chinese restaurant takes almost 3 hours to serve one table of 5 people?!?! The restaurant was not even full, it was literally half empty. We left hungry with no dinner with no real apology or resolution. I paid for the starters and drinks which came to £69. I am absolutely furious that they completely ruined my families celebration. We will NOT return, and I would urge anyone else not to bother either.

What a disappointment. Booked for our daughters birthday for 6p.m.We were rushed to order but our starter arrived 90 minutes later and that was because I complained.We waited another 45 minutes with no sign of mains arriving.We decided to leave paying the bill with a 10% reduction and an apology of being short staffed and very busy with take away.Surely bums on seats pay the bills.....very disappointing. Meal booked for our family at 6.00pm Absolutely awful service Had to complain no starter which finally arrived about 7.15 pm after being told my wife was on insulin and diabetic and needed to know just before food was arriving for her injection 7.45 our main course still hadn't arrived and the table behind us had been waiting, they had been told they would have to wait 45 mins to an hour . We decided to leave pay our bill for starters and drinks . Never again will we be going here for our family meal completely ruined fathers day

Like stepping back into the 1970s. Although some fake blossom and fairy lights added it looked tired and cheap. 1 adult and 2 children with just a main course and a drink costing over £70. Nice enough food but not worth the price. Expected Basil Fawlty or Manuel to appear.

I never leave reviews, especially about food but I don’t think I will eat a Chinese the same again. This was the worst Chinese I have ever had. The chicken came on top of the chow mein and chicken fried rice. It was overpriced, which we wouldn’t have minded paying if it was actually edible. The pancakes were ok. We were missing a couple of items. It was just plain awful. Sorry

We arrived on a busy Saturday evening. Welcome on arrival was nice and friendly. We ordered a set meal at £25/ head. The starter yuk sung came in under 15 minutes and was ok, a bit salty for my taste. Sadly all went downhill and we didn't get our mains until after almost an hour we had to complain. "Kitchen very busy" yes but why did two tables who came in after us get their food well before we eventually had ours. The food : mediocre, sweet and sour chicken was in batter that was almost inedible. Rest of meal disappointed. Will not return!

I’ve never ordered a takeaway so i cannot speak about the service on that end however the restaurant is brilliant. We always a one for family meals, been coming here for a few years. Food is very fresh and piping hot when it arrives. Slightly on the more expensive side but the portion sizes are good and food is delicious. Not too long of a wait for food.

First time visiting this place,omg what a terrible experience. Sat down ordered our drinks which was fine,they came,then waited and waited for service in the end had to find a waitress to say we were ready to order. We asked the waitress what was in some of the food and she hadn't a clue and looked stressed,ordered food and waited 45 minutes for it to arrive, then the fun began we sat and watched has the waitresses served food to the wrong people, the older waitress shouted at one customer saying he was served the wrong food and not to touch it,I have never witnessed such appalling service.when our main eventually turned up we was given the wrong food when they realised they took it off us and gave it the table behind(shocking)an hour we waited for our main which was served in bits.i can honestly say I have never eaten at a place like this..I have never experienced such poor service has I did here tonight,we were served by staff who hadn't got a clue what they were doing,they were miserable, unhelpful and rude.andcto top it off they put a service charge on the bill which we refused to pay.when we went to pay the man who took the money was as horrible has his staff.food very Bland and overpriced. I speak has I find and if your good you will get a good review but this place, there is nothing good .

Food was good but the service was shockingly bad with food arriving over 1hr after ordering it. Cannot cope with a full restaurant with the small amount of staff they have.

Booked for a party of 12 and paid £60 deposit two weeks ago, Arrived on time but service was chaotic. Some of us were still waiting for meals TWO hours later, When I checked the bill they had "fotgotten" to deduct the deposit. Merely an oversight, I'm sure. Will not be back.

Been coming here for years and tonight was the first time they have put a service charge on the bill. Had to get this removed. We always leave a good tip but not being forced into it by putting it on bill. Can't fault the food but this change has put us right off. Disappointed.

Very poor service. Not welcoming at all, in fact the staff were extremely rude. Not usually a person to post bad reviews but this needed to be the exception. Wouldn't recommend to dine in at all. Go to Minhs instead to dine in

Went here for the first time today, the food was lovely. Came out really quick & we finished every last bit. It’s one we’ve been meaning to go to for ages as it’s so close to us & we finally did & loved it. Will definitely go back again 👌🏾

Sadly have to give one star all round, have been ordering from here for years but unfortunately I found a long black hair in my food. Hair nets should be worn at all times in the kitchen to prevent this.

Ordered our first takeaway yesterday. It was amazing. Dishes were fresh and meat dishes were not filled with chunky vegetables like some other places. This is our new local Chinese!! Keep up the great work.

First time using this Chinese Takeaway, I really enjoyed the food, I asked for the special curry and Singapore chow mein to be extra spicy 🌶️ and it was it was lovely, the bbq spare ribs were good too I will be back for sure. Thanks!

Came in with a group of friends and had a great experience. Service was very friendly and efficient. The food was amazing. We had a set meal, and everything served was very tasty and generous portions.

Never been here before, but came with my sister who recommended it. We had the set menu for 4 and were amazed at the amount of food that kept appearing, the service was friendly and the food was delicious.

Just went for a birthday celebration for my niece there were 14 of us , the service was excellent and the food was amazing we had a fantastic time , we took birthday cake with us and they lit the candles and bought us all plates so we could have some , could not fault anything

UPDATE. July 8th. Tonight we had our usual and what a shock. NEW PRICES SO CHECK BEFORE ORDERING. My special curry meal has gone up £1.65 and now £7.50 Normaly our two meals £11.70 and now £14.70 so you have been warned. You've now Lost our custom. sorry.

Another very good take away from the House of Canton. Love the sesame prawn toast and the pork yuk sung. Excellent service, order always ready and correct. Would thoroughly recommend.

Friendly staffs - £££ price for the food which could have been better. We have tried various places so the quality of the food could have been better . No complaints but make sure to pre book your table before visit. (Make sure to say the exact numbers of people visiting- coz even if one extra person trying to hop on board- they will not take it easy) Okayish food.

I have been visiting The House of Canton for nearly 30 years now. For some reason we haven't been for a long time. If anything the food is even more amazing than I remember. It's one of those restaurant's you keep thinking about the food for the next few days. Trust me well worth a visit.

Went for my birthday meal today and couldn't fault the service or the food. Food was lovely, piping hot and we didn't have to wait long for it. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. No request was too much for them and when we told them it was my birthday, they gave me a free drink of Baileys! My parents and I have been to this restaurant for many years and have always had a lovely time. Definitely recommend!

Hidden Gem! We actually dropped on here because the 'all you can eat' restaurants were fully booked and we were more than pleasantly surprised. Excellent service and authentic vibes and fantastic food. Between us all we had a mixture of starters and mains, every single one was of excellent quality. Fresh, rich and incredibly tasty! The satay sauce was the best I've ever tasted and I've tried many. We travelled quite a way from Rugeley and will definitely return.

The service is extremeley nice. They were quick and stuff were very good. The sweet and sour chicken, and the singapore fried rice was amazing. Would highly reccomend

Food and flavouring is always so amazing, but I don't know why or how they have changed the chicken dishes... I always have ordered mushroom and chicken curry, flavour ect is always spot on but they have changed the way they cook the chicken... Im nota fan and have stopped ordering this dish for this reason. Also the cantonise style chicken isnt the nicest.. Flavour ect is amazing but the chicken isnt the nicest. I'm sorry I had to leave this review but from somewhere I have always ordered from it has recently gone down hill.

This is my local Chinese restaurant and I want to support it but I wont be ordering from them again in a hurry. Had a takeaway from there at the weekend and it wasn't great - i'm not going to say it was awful as its probably similar to lot of Chinese takeways in the area but the chicken was really odd - who knows how they cooked it but it didn't look like the stir fried chicken I was expecting from an Oriental stir fry. Parts of the meal were satisfying because when are crunchy spring rolls and prawn toast (aka fried bread with prawn flavour) not but it pretty much tasted like every other Chinese takeaway i've had for the last 20 years - it all just tastes the same even after asking for no MSG. I think its about time we asked for more from these restaurants. I know the food is cheap so what do we expect but i'd rather pay more for something fresher and tastier. Maybe its just me. Rant over. By the way the chips were great..........what is it about chips from a Chinese restaurant!

Always enjoyed food here and hate giving bad reviews but so disappointed with the service and food we received .. ordered early 5:20 so an hour went past no food an hour and half no food, gave a call just to check we hadn't been forgotten to be told our order was on its way.. 40 minutes later decided to call again to be put on hold while they rang delivery driver then was told be there soon.. delivery driver couldn't find address as he pulled up twice outside and drove off! Finally our food arrives cold! But were hungry so ask if a almost 3 hour wait would get us some discount? £12 off but had chicken balls missing and our food was awful , chicken curry so greasy , chips were soggy as was spring rolls.. such ashame as we have always recommended but we will never return as customers again!!

Really don’t like leaving bad reviews anywhere but I feel like I have to write something. The food tastes stale and like it had been reheated, there’s no taste to any of the food it’s very bland, even the curry sauce. I think it’s a shame as it looks like a lovely place and the staff are really friendly but unfortunately I won’t be returning.

Just gone back to where we used to order before just eat appeared. Soooo glad we did food still fantastic and quickly delivered. We are back !!

We hadn't been here for a while but will be going more often from now on. The food was amazing top quality ingredients and I have to say it was the best Chicken Curry ever! And ive tried a lot! Loads of chicken breast and the sauce was delicious could not fault it - lovely staff and very reasonably priced a little gem.

We've always had our Friday night takeaway from here and never had problem however last night we thought we'd try something different and had the Cantonese sweet and sour chicken never again the chicken was so dry and over cooked it was like chewing wood we couldn't even swallow it. Never again will I order food from here again.

I'm not always a fan of the ‘all you can eat’ buffet, but this Sunday and Monday evening extravaganza is good. We were four, and each was very satisfied with our meal from starters to deserts.I have been a visitor on many occasions and had the a la carte, and always been very happy with the food.It doesn’t offer the most glamorous surroundings, but compensates with good service.

Not a great takeaway. Chicken in the sweet & sour stringy & dry. Beef curry more onion than beef & sauce just tasted of MSG. Our usual was closed, their food always full of flavour & fresh tasting.

We booked just in case but didn’t need to as it was a quiet Wednesday evening and Wolves were playing at home so I guess lots at the match. We were welcomed and drinks ordered nice and quick. We decided on the food order and as there were quiet a few mixed dishes we asked if we could move to a table for 8 even though there were only 4 of us, this was no problem and we moved. The food came quickly and it was excellent, all the dishes were lovely and the service was great, really helpful. Can’t wait to go again.

As someone of a gluten intolerance I asked what dishes I could possibly eat/ have altered. They were very rude to me, and quite blankly said nothing on the menu as ‘everything contains soy sauce’. Appalling customer service, they didn’t care at all that I was a paying customer just wanted to get me off the phone. I understand Chinese food is one of the hardest to not not contain gluten but other places I have been before have at least accommodated my needs by offering me something I could have. As a business you need to be more up to date with the times- allergies are very common!!

Oh my what lovely food. Chinese buffet on a Sunday,not like your average buffet food dried up and rubbery, this was just delicious and very reasonably priced

We visited her on Sunday for the buffet, we arrived about 8pm. The restaurant was busy but most people were finishing off and left soon after we arrived.
