Hoong Shing in Tameside

Well what can I say!! The starter was fine, but my partner ordered beef and mushroom which he said was so tough he couldn't eat it and I ordered CHICKEN and mushroom in oyster sauce and guess what!! That was also beef!!! I RARELY EAT RED MEAT !! I TRY TO AVOID IT!!so no doubt to say we won't be ordering there again

I’ve got to say I’ve slated this place in the past, I’ve cancelled orders and given bad reviews but tonight my other half fancied Chinese so I relented and went back. Wow! How often do you say that onion tasted nice? Never! But every part of that meal was nice, the first thing I tasted was the onion and it was cooked to perfection. No faults with the rest of the food either. No faults and god I’m hard to please. I think the problem with this place is how busy it gets, Wednesday night food served hot, In time and perfect. Saturday night it’s a lottery and that’s a shame.

The food here is absolutely amazing. A true treat for my family. The food taste so lovely and fresh. We cant help but come back for more. The delelivery was on time as alwags. The staff are professional, polite and very patient with my indisicifive dinner choosing.

We have this chippy once a week and everything I have tried has been amazing! Always fresh and big portions. Salt and pepper boxes are really good value too!

Absolutely terrible service ignorant and just want to make money don’t care about the customers will take as many orders as they want and just make u sit there and wait and basically just forget about you has happened many times now and to top it of made me wait 40 minutes for 3 portions of chips

Was a brilliant chippy small portions but so tasty..chippy was lovely. I have one problem the delivery driver . I'm a single parent in a top floor flat.. The man wouldn't come up the stairs with the takeaway he expected me to leave a new born baby and 3 children in a top floor flat while I went down and he didn't care atal.. Sorry I understand this covid 19 but he could have worn a mask and nipped up 🙄 I pay 30 pound for food and they can't even be bothered to drop it at my front door they expect me to walk down 3 flights of stairs leave my babies and give him the money .. He took the money from my hand so there was nothing stopping him coming up to my door 😕

just ate a takeaway from here barbecue chicken has never seen barbecue was terrible,beef chow mein where is the vegetables and mushrooms,noodles was nasty, never again will i visit here

DON'T go here a two a half hour wait for food and it still hadn't come and they have the cheek to charge you £2 for the privilege !!!!! You phone up not interested in fact laugh at you not good enough by any standard !!!!!!!

We ordered takeaway from Hoong Shing and wish we hadn't. The food was reasonably priced for two of us at £30, but apart from that there's nothing else nice to write. The food turned up cold, so after a stint in the oven, then the microwave we sat down to eat. But after half a plate each it got binned. Starters were far too greasy, even for a Chinese. The mains just all tasted the same. We couldn't determine any taste difference, greasy again but bland. With all the Chinese takeaways out there we'll be searching somewhere else in future. Sat writing this still feeling hungry and £30 lighter. Toast or cereal for tea tonight it seems!!!

Foods okay .But they can't get the orders right due to the language problem of them not understanding English .When you phone them they are right you are wrong end of .Will not be ever going there again after the last 3 times of the orders being wrong and not getting an apology once .So if you want a nice Chinese and the correct order DON'T ORDER FROM HERE

Very nice the only the chop suey was a bit lacking flavour. I think because we order through just eat we don't get the free dishes. Still the best Chinese takeaway around.

Absolutely rubbish!!! First of all the man delivered my food to the wrong street and then called me and made me meet him to collect my food! (I was still charged for delivery even though I collected it off him). Once I got home I realised they had gave me the wrong dish. I went into the shop and asked for what I originally ordered and was served by a horrible woman with a horrible attitude, they wasn't going to give me what I asked for at first but then a man came out and told her he would do it for me which was good. I arrived home and was ready to eat but it was cold and revolting.

I'm from A-u-L and tried just about every Chinese takeaway around here over the years. Hoong Shing went through a period a few years back when they had a change of personnel, kept the same menu but the quality dropped-off quite dramatically (hence the bad review below). While I'm not in the area that often these days, I'm pleased to say that when I have ordered from here of late the food has been top-notch, pretty much back to how it was before it changed hands. What has set Hoong Shing apart from other takeaways in the area is the quality of their ingredients, for instance their use of fresh veg (broccoli, carrots, green peppers etc); it's all fresh and cooked just right, not soft and overdone or processed junk from a tin you can even still find around; the sauces are atypically healthy and clearly not laden with salt /oil, the meats used are also quality cuts and lean, batter too spot on. Another bonus is the fact the chips are fresh potato, proper chips, not your frozen cheap nutrition-less stuff served up in a yellow polystyrene container that you'll typically get elsewhere. Hoong Shing is essentially a chippy, not just someone's front room /kitchen turned into a takeaway. The fact the menu contains bespoke meals /specials like the double-cooked chicken and battered chicken in kung po sauce, says a lot about the place too; the owners clearly take pride in what they serve here. If you appreciate good food, look no further than Hoong Shing. I haven't found better Chinese food served in a restaurant locally, let alone another takeaway.

Food wasn't nice most ended up in the bin. Okay sauce was like it had a bottle of vineger in it. Delivery service was apauling they phoned me to go out to the car for it in the rain. Won't order again

Poor ...ordered food 7.30 rang twice to be told it was on its way 9.45 was told food would be another 25mins not acceptable the site asks for a contact number this should be used if there is a delay ! Cancelled order will expect a full refund .....very disappointed to have to wait over 2 and half hours and still no sign of order clicked 1star because it insisted on a rating but this should be no stars totally unaceptable !!! AWAITING MY REFUND

We have used this Chinese before and enjoy our food here every time. Today was our first time ordering via the just eat app. We placed our order at 7.45 with an estimated delivery time of 9.15. Fair enough, we know it's busy so accept this time. 9.30 comes and we phone the take away for an update. Lack of any form of an apology and couldn't offer any small discount or extras, instead our food would arrive in another 20 minutes. 10pm our food arrived!!!! Although still warm and good quality, 2 hours and 15 minutes is a ridiculous length of time to wait for food!

Arranged to pick up at a specific time so expected the food to be hot. It wasn't. It was cold and needed to be re heated. Ordered Chinese style duck in batter and it was disgusting, majority was just fat and skin. The sauce was also tasteless. Would not recommend.

Ok so fancing trying somewhere different randomly cose these guys , (without reading the reviews - bad idea) . I order at 6.30 and the app/email said 7.30 delivery time , them a few moments later got an ammended delivery time of 8.00 ok so this is a long time an hour and a half but i let it lie , and proceeded to wait , watching corrie :).. at 8:20 i decided to call them and he said the driver was on his way (knowing how long this journey takes i was expecting him in 3 minutes no more... the driver arrived at 8:40 , 2hrs and 10 mins after order being not happy at all i told the driver ive already agreed with the shop that if he wasnt here by 8:30 im paying half price (the shop agreed this) so on his arrival the guy knew nothing of this and ended up phoning his boss and argueing at the door , out of sheer principal i told the guy either take the tenner or take the food this is ridiculous , he took the food . I ordered a Kebab ... I URGE ANYONE READING THIS >> DO NOT ORDER THEY JUST LIE AND IGNORE ONLINE ORDERS ... TY

DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE!!! The food from here is usually lovely....if it ever actually arrives. Delivery time was estimated at 45 mins - 1hr but still waiting 2 hrs and 20 minutes later. Rang to ask what was happening and was told it's been busy so we need to just wait or my order will be cancelled!! He then continued by laughing down the phone and found the whole thing highly amusing which f***ed me off even more!! Customer service is absolutely shocking!! If you actually want to eat....GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!

Estimated delivery time was 60-75 minutes... We waited 85 then rang the takeaway to see where our food was and they told us to wait another fifteen minutes. Think they forgot out order.

Having ordered online and opted for collection, on arriving at the takeaway, the order was not ready, nor any evidence we had ordered, basically having to provide order number and what we ordered were we then able to wait for them to make it, add 25 minutes! Only to return home where one dish was stone cold compared to the other dishes, bad transaction which lies squarely on the takeaways shoulders.

Food was fine when it finally arrived however it took 1 hour and 30 mins to arrive! When it did arrive not all of the order was there and I had to ring back up and get them to deliver the rest of the order. I won't be ordering from there again as the customer service was terrible and I've had better food from the area.

2hrs after ordering still not got food and after phoning the takeaway service they have no idea where our food is or even if we are going to get it. This is not acceptable now sat here after a hard days work with nothing to eat

VERY BAD!!!!!!!! Would give 0 stars if I could!! Ordered takeaway over an hour before they closed and then rang straight away to change address, the man told me my order was being cancelled because it was too late to order! It was 9:30 and they don't shut until 10:45, he said I live 5 miles away so I would have to pay an extra £10! I live in Stalybridge 2 miles away. He said that the money wouldn't go back on my card for a few days and just kept putting the phone down! I rang pretending to be another customer and Said are you still taking orders and he said yes what would you like! I told him it was me and he said there's nothing he can do , if I wanted the order I would have to wait 2 hours and pay cash. After ringing persistently he finally gave in and said they would bring the food, the noodles were cold, chicken satay was very watery and the egg fried rice was awful. After reading a lot of good reviews I am disappointed. Would not use this takeaway if they was paying me to ! DO NOT USE.

The beef Cantonese style was perfect and gorgeous! 😊 The soup was fantastic so was the chicken curry apart from the peas being a little too hard for my liking. All in all definitely order from here again!!

The poorest customer service I have EVER received in my life, not only are the people completely incompetent but also do not understand (or refuse) to follow basic orders. Terrible communication issues. After the food arrived it was inedible, as the dish I ordered arrived with meat (that of which I am severely allergic to). Once ringing them to inform them it had arrived in with meat (I ordered a simple side sauce, NOT a dish that contains meat) they said they would resend me my order. I had no apologies. After waiting an hour, I rang them to be informed they would NOT be sending out another, and was accused of lying to them. The problem was clearly an issue on their behalf. I received no apology from the restaurant. I got in contact with Just eat who spoke with the restaurant. I had evidence of the clear meat on my plate. They gave me sincere apologies and gave me a refund for my order. Absolutely APPAULED by the service I received today, would NEVER order here again, its an utter disgrace.

Ordered from here for the first time and omg the food was amazing. Delivery came way before expected and everything was still hot when it arrived! I'm a massive fan of Chinese and I can honestly say it's the best I've had in a while. Ps I can handle hot food but ordered ribs at medium spice and they were still very spicy.
