Was there on a day when John Smith's was £1.75. usely more wouldn't pay any for John Smith's smooth

No Cask ales, friendly staff nice garden

Real/cask ales are inconsistent. Sometimes good sometimes absolutely undrinkable. I mentioned that one was sour, tasted like vinegar. It was replaced with an alternative but rather than take it off it was left on, available to less discerning customers.

Lovely cosy atmosphere and staff were lovely. Nice selection of drinks and snacks. Only thing I'd say is the music was particularly loud for time of day but this might have been a one off.

Good staff and prices, but it felt like we weren't welcome by the locals. Still had a laugh and stayed in for a few.

Went on a Friday before going to a party .Lovely decor and the drinks menu was amazing. Loads of different gins, rums,vodkas etc .Will definitely be going back there.

Ive only been there for the England games and it got a bit messy. However the beer is cheap and the staff are nice.

Can be hit or miss if it's busy or literally empty. Drink prices are incredible, usually good music and fast service.

Good for sports but the Hobgoblin on cask was a bit off

Great gin. Chose the Rhubarb and they put bits of ginger in it, perfect with loads of ice. Best gin of the night.

Landlord (I'm guessing!) seems a bit grumpy, But the pub is very clean and has good range of drinks and very well priced. I imagine it is popular at weekends but when I have been in it is quiet.

Great atmosphere and beers and great bands, only let down by the rather awkward stage area. Apparently they want to improve this to give better views of bands.

Good if you like Gin, but when I visited their real ale was off, as it was sour. Not for me. Room for improvement.

Great place to go for a drink excellent

Hogarths has had various redesigns over the years & has been known by various names but this one is as a gin palace. I really like the atmosphere in here - Saturday night has a resident DJ & there's always a lively feel with a good crowd. Great selection of alcohol (obviously including a rather extensive gin menu!), fast service by friendly staff & the opportunity to either be part of the crowd or as a cosy crowd of your own in separate table areas. Highly recommended.

Busy but not too bad.only 2 real ales on and took a while to get served but prices are good.nice pub overall.

Fanatic selection of gins this side of Derbyshire. Ian and Amy are very welcoming publicans and their staff are also very welcoming and accommodating. Best venue in Ilkeston if darts is your thing

The door staff tell you its table service. So you go in and sit down to get ignored for 15 minutes. When you finally track someone down to order a drink you get a pair of rolled eyes and told to "do it on the app" but they don't tell you what app. By now 20 minutes have gone by with no drink. When the next person dismissively tells you the name of the app the app tells no more drinks are being served, so you leave having been in the place half an hour never having had a drink!!

If you love gin then you'll love this place!!! They have so many to choose from you'll be spoilt!! Even the presentation is spot in, with a rang of glasses to match. I personally don't like gin, but they still have a wide range of beers and lager too. They've put in Covid restrictions and you have to share your details with your bar tender before you order (as part of Track and Trace). They also ask you to stang behind a line at the bar when being served which is a little strange. I get the fact that it's for the safety of the staff, but does make it hard to pay and reach your drinks. Overall, this place has adapted well and spacings are more than adequate. It was relatively quiet when I went in however, so can't vouch for qhat it's like when they get busy.
