Update to original review: we are so sad that this amazing venue appears to have closed? It was a place that deserved to thrive and enjoy great success. We were really looking forward to returning when next in the area 😔 …………………. Complete hidden gem, only a short drive from Harbury Fields caravan park. We enjoyed the relaxing ambiance, the well-chosen music and the Cold River cider .. so much that we came back twice while still in the area. Thank you Hillbilly’s .. we have thoroughly enjoyed our delicious food, we will return and we will be recommending to others.

My first time at the Plough. The menu offers a good selection of Tex Mex dishes. The Jalapeño poppers are lovely and Chicken Quesadillas. The price is reasonable. The young gentleman that served us was very polite and friendly. He recommended some dishes and answered any questions we had about the food. The restraunt is very clean and tidy. The decor is lovely and the atmosphere was good. Parking is available on site and has a number of spaces. I would recommend visiting the Plough. I would return again in the future with my friends and family. Thank you !

I don't often give perfect scores but I couldn't think of a genuine critique. We had the Beef Nachos and the Chicken Chimichanga since the pictures looked good and they more than lived up to expectations. The Nachos are the best you'll buy for portion and taste, and to finish it is no small feat (I barely failed). Had a nice ale as well can't remember what! Service was great. Made a few queries and the gentleman always obliged. They have a very challenging hot sauce (and one hotter than that...) if you're of that ilk. Didn't use it but there is a nice looking pub garden. Toilet was clean and tidy. All in all the place earns it's stars. Edit: 3rd Time here. Still love it, I keep forcing people to come here so I can eat again. Love the Nachos! And the hot sauce is a nice challenge (ask for it).

Went here for dinner on a Friday night, was reasonably quiet in the dining areas, which we preferred. The service was great and was very pleasant. The food is good sized portions at a good price. We got the burrito and the chimichanga. The food was nice but was quite rich in mature cheddar cheese, which overpowered it a little bit and would of thought mozerella would of been a much better fit! Other than this it was a lovely place & I'd recommend going. Would return and order the nachos instead as they look amazing!

Amazing 🌶️🌶️🌶️ What a little gem. The service was excellent from the start, good choice of drinks from the bar. We sat in the well tended garden enjoying the sunshine and ordered food from there, we were shown to our table just before food arrived. Waiter knew details of the menu and was able to advise, as well as offer choice of dips in various degrees of heat! Food itself was spot on, couldn’t fault it. We’ll definitely be back, hope others get to hear about this place and support the venture. Brilliant 🌶️🌶️🌶️

Such a hidden gem. It has a lovely beer garden and great interior decor. The portions sizes were big and it was nice that the meal we had came with little pots of everything- cheese, guac, pickled red onion, salsa, sour cream, jalepenos. The cocktails were also good. Staff and service brilliant, friendly and accommodating. Would definitely be back. Only suggestions would be some music and possibly some comfier seating outside as the benches were very low

Fantastic food, very tasty, wonderful service.

This place is definitely worth a visit. Food is delicious and portion sizes are very good! I had my baby shower here and everything was perfect, so much buffet food with a Mexican twist. They have a private dining room where I was able to have decor and the food all set up. Service is always 10/10, always enjoy visiting.

We have visited a couple of times now, trying to work our way through the menu! The food is delicious and great portions, the burgers are a great addition to the menu, but plenty of Mexican dishes to try! Nice enclosed garden and the interior is roomy and very clean! One of our new favourites!

A superb find, after hearing about it on Facebook. Excellent service, great food, shared a starter, a main each, couple drinks £52. Sat in the garden, it was lovely. Well worth a visit in my opinion

Nice place, pretty easy to get to and plenty of parking available when we went (Saturday 6pm). I'd reserved a table for 5, then changed to 6, the person replying to messages on the website was very helpful. We arrived a bit early so had a drink in the beer garden, nice range of drinks on offer. Between the 6 of us we ordered a range of stuff on the menu, I had the jalapeno poppers (these were really nice) followed by the chicken fajitas with fries, that was really nice too. All made fresh, so when my son ordered his with no veg or salsa they were very accommodating. One of my friends was also lactose intolerant and they were very helpful in what would work with the vegan cheese and what wouldn't. All in all, very nice experience, would definitely recommend and we'll definitely go back again

Excellent value for money, huge portion sizes, fresh food, about the most authentic Mexican taste you can get in the Midlands (nearly Wahaca). We were stuffed after 3 courses and 3 beers, all for £63.00. (The only reason this isn’t a 5 star review is we had a noisy child on the table next to us - book a little later to avoid this!)

A great change from the norm,tasty Mexican food well presented with good size portions all served in good time.We had a starter which we shared and 2 mains a couple of drinks for £60 cant complain. We emailed to book Saturday but there were no early tables and wanted to eat earlier but our luck changed as we recieved an email to tell us there was a cancellation.Nice clean place with friendly staff will be re visiting in the near future

This little gem was a great surprise. Its hard to find authentic Mexican food in the UK but Hillbilly grill shack has pulled it off. Very good flavours, plenty of food for the price ( it is a little pricy) but the quality makes up for it, and the margaritas were perfect! Service was how it should be with a smile, quick, respectful and caring of our needs. I would make one recommendation try to find Queso Cheese for a more authentic experience.

Lovely building, and easy to get to. Friendly greeting, and the decor was fun, very relaxed atmosphere. We ordered a couple of starters, a couple of sides and a main to share. I don't think we would have managed two mains! All the food was piping hot, very tasty and well cooked. The only thing I would change was to have more of the dips come with the nacho stack we had, I like them really goopy! Personal taste 🙂. Plenty of parking at the time we went, and the prices were reasonable. Service was great. We would definitely go back!

I went here for the first time with friends & was pleasantly surprised. A lovely welcome to a pub decorated with a Mexican theme. The menu is Mexican with a good choice. Big portions & delicious. The service was friendly & prompt.

Called in here on a last minute search for a meal out with some family, lovely looking country pub with plenty of parking. Hygiene 5 rated, very clean and well presented, fantastic friendly service. The menu was simple but all tasty dishes, vegetarian option was good also. When the food arrived it was well presented and generous, definitely for the larger appetite. Good selection of drinks as you’d expect. All fairly priced. Highly recommended.

This place serves soul satisfying Mexican food. Highly recommend a visit if you're in the area and hungry. There are small bites too or option take it home for lunch. Honestly great food, lovely people cute pub and a nice IPA on tap too. Tucked away in a quaint little village. Go!

Our son had driven past and fancied trying out Hillbillys Grill Shack so we went when we visited him last week. All our meals were delicious and there was a good choice of starters,mains and puddings. Staff were friendly and helpful and all areas were smart and clean. Look forward to going again next time we visit the area.

Each time we've been the food has been fantastic. Great service, cheerful and bubbly front of house staff. Made the dining out experience even better. 9 months later... I've been going to this place for ages and the food is always amazing. The starter wings were to die for but honestly everything is so good. The staff just as great and friendly as each time we've been. Lovely relaxed atmosphere and yummy cocktails of course 😋 Just realised I haven't any food pictures, I tend to forget to take those because the food so good I have to dig in. I'll try and get some next time!

Just returned Home from a delicious dinner at the Plough. We were sceptical about trying due to menu in the location. Rest assured it was a good decision. By far the best Mexican we have had in the UK. My wife said the only place she's had better was in LA. The food was fresh well cooked and very filling. The service was on point. My only complaint is that the Chipotle sauce doesn't come with more items had to nick the wife's. Thank you for a very pleasant evening

Good staff, good food , nice portion's, easy parking and very pleasant atmosphere. Beer was very good Slaughterhouse Brewery so you don't put up with those silly beers with lime. I cannot think of a better Mexican within 100 miles.

Such a lovely place. Food is great, staff are welcoming. Prices are reasonable as you get a lot of food. as as good a Mexican as I’ve had anywhere. so happy to see it getting busier and busier. There’s such a rarity of good pubs and places to eat for those of us who live locally, this is definitely one of the best pubs in the locality. Please add a veggie burrito to the menu 🙃

We can't believe this place exists! It is hidden from the road, lovely, lovely refurb! The 3 lads who work in there are lovely, very polite and attentive Food was really nice, good vibe! After a walk in Bubbenhall Woods we needed some lunch and found this on Google maps. I really enjoy Mexican food and the reviews were good. Well the food certainly lived up to expectations we had the mixed taco sharing platter which came with all the accompaniments needed to make a really authentic crispy or soft taco. We both really enjoyed the food and there was plenty to go round. The restaurant is well set out with bright coloured seating at the tables to evoke the colours of Mexico. We sat in the sunshine in the pub garden which was lovely. Would recommend for groups as well as plenty of sharing opportunities on the menu.

Extremely expensive (we ordered thinking it would be very good) and food was just average. Complete lack of flavour, no seasoning and no depth of flavour whatsoever. Feels like we paid an extortionate amount of money for 3 sandwiches made with sauces from Costco. Ended up throwing all away apart from chicken burger. Paid £15/wrap, I believe the burrito was £17. Had two wraps and a chicken burger, chicken wings and tortilla chips and dips for £50!!! These sandwiches were £8.50 each on just Eat! When we asked the restaurant why the difference in price, they said the portions are more generous and that the food comes with sides which otherwise would need to be ordered separately on Just Eat. When we opened the food at home, we saw the sides: a bit of warm, lumpy lettuce and a bag of poorly cooked fries! So I guess the “sides” they referred to was the bag of chips. I tried one chip and threw the rest away. They were overcooked, quite hard and unpleasant. I tried the tortilla chips and dips. The tortilla chips were so hard, I was afraid I was going to damage my teeth. The sour cream dip was so warm, disgusting. The guacamole was probably the worst I have ever tasted. The third dip was not a salsa, as it would be traditional, but a smokey mayo which was very nice. The chicken chimichanga was very bland, not seasoned at all. There was a lot of sweetness from the salsa used inside the wrap, the Costco salsa taste, exactly that! The beef burrito was very bland as well, no seasoning whatsoever. The chicken burger was good, but I am in awe regarding the price! Not worth £15 for sure. We also bought chicken wings that were not tossed in the sauce, the sauce was drizzled on the top. I ate half a chicken wing. I found them to dry, overcooked. Threw them away. All in all, I feel like we paid a sit-in restaurant price, not a takeaway price for poorly made food. Cheated!

We had the nachos with beef and the barbacoa beef burrito with some jalapeño poppers on the side. Wow- make sure you bring an appetite when you visit Hillbilly’s grill shack- the portions are definitely ‘American’ sized- ie huge! The nachos are homemade which is a pleasant difference. The seasoned beef is plentiful but feel the dish could be improved by melting the cheese over the nachos in a more uniform way rather than the nachos-cheese-beef circular arrangement. The burrito was great- no rice filling but I doubt you could fit much more in what is already a girthy burrito. The salsa was tasty- not as much heat as I would like but that’s my taste. The barbacoa beef was succulent and delicious. The jalapeño poppers were pleasant and paired well with the chipotle Mayo accompaniment. Will definitely be back to try something else on the menu next time- it all looks very appealing 👍
