Herbivorous Vegan | Withington | in Manchester

The food is always excellent at herbivorous! Their in house made seitan is brilliant, and isn’t overly chewy or heavy. The food is always really tasty, freshly made, and with really good (and consistent) portions. The staff are all really friendly. My only complaint is that I miss the Thai basil beef topped fries 😂

I ordered a vegan chicken burger and a mojito. They were scrumptious! The chefs were a great cook. I would give Jamie the waiter 5/5 for the food. Jamie was very kind!

Loved the food here! We had salt & pepper chicken burger, bacon mac & cheese, buffalo wings and paprika fries. All delicious, my favourite was the mac with cashew cheese sauce, so amazing. Highly recommend and we'll be back if ever in the area 🍔🍟💚

Delicious and lovely homely service

Came here for a friend's birthday and it was a really nice time. The food was good and the staff, friendly and attentive. Had the salt and pepper chicken burger which was fantastic overall. It's also got a nice chill atmosphere, perfect if you want a nice bite to eat.

This place is such a gem. The food is absolutely delicious, so well seasoned which is the key thing with vege food. But really - whether you eat meet or not you will enjoy. The place has a really relaxed atmosphere, super friendly staff. I will go again and again for the vibes, as well as delicious food.

Absolutely delicious gluten free food that's tasty healthy and very reasonably priced. Rang up the restaurant to confirm our order was gluten free and they happily reassured us it was. Eaten here plenty of times now and will always highly recommend!

I order from here all the time and it is some of the best vegan comfort food on offer. their burgers, cheesy fries, wings, ribs, mac and cheese are all ridiculously good. they are more on the expensive side but I understand this is because of how much they make in house. the food also has a very unique flavour profile because of this, and I would say that the salt and pepper chicken burger they do is probably the best burger I've ever had in my life (vegan or not). I have never dined in, but collected from there and it seems pretty cool.

Great place to eat in or get a takeaway from! The cheesy chips are next level. They have lots of gluten free options but no gluten free burgers, yet!

Just had a delivery, very underwhelming! Had no pineapple for our burger which we were advised on the phone. The burgers had about 2 strands of lettuce on, everything seemed spicy (I guess to cover lack of flavour) and they forgot our 2 cola drinks. I’ve been vegetarian for 20 years so I’m used to and expect a lot of bland food but I’ve had a lot better vegan meals elsewhere. Gutted cos I was so excited for my dinner 😄

The wings and cheesy loaded fries are a spiritual experience like no other. Special, truly special.

This is a gem of a restaurant, food is amazing! 4 of us (including 3 carnivores!) shared loaded Mac and cheese, a big kahuna burger, buffalo wings, a Philly cheesesteak, harissa corn & paprika fries. Perfect size portions, got to try everything and left stuffed! Cocktails also gorgeous and only £5! Already planning the next trip 👌

I could live off the Philly Cheesesteak fries. The cheese sauce is so good, its nutty, cheesy and thick. Today I ordered this, along side mac and cheese with the ribs. This dish is hench!! Has saved me from the depth of my hangover. Thank you. P.s really miss the sweet and sour chicken balls!!! The only place I've ever been able to order from is here but you stopped them :( bring them back! :P

Having had a mixed experience at Herbivorous at Hatch in town, I wanted to give a second chance to another of their sites. The food wasn't bad, but neither was it particularly great. The burgers I think in particular could be much better - the 'beef' patties just don't match up to the many good vegan beef burger alternatives available today - thin and a bit dry. The fries were good - we had both the spicy and cheesy fries, but again a but too much of the cashew cheesy sauce on the chips for my preference. We also had the buffalo wings - again a bit too much of the (spicy) sauce giving them a slightly bitter flavour; I think with a bit less they would've been fine. There were some nice craft beers and service was friendly. The main other point was that the place was empty for nearly the whole time we were there EXCEPT for the steady stream of delivery people streaming in to collect takeaway. Nearly all of them left the door open to give us an icy blast each time! Didn't make for a particularly good atmosphere. Please, consider getting an automatic closer on the door and maybe some separation of the area for delivery drivers - I think there would be enough space given all other tables were empty on a Saturday night.

Went to Herbivorous with my daughter. Thought it was great. Cocktails punchy, ‘Chicken’ burger super tasty, chips fab, waiter (Jonah) lovely. Well worth it - if you’re a vegan or not (I’m not).

Wow. Just Wow. Visited today as we wanted something different. All I can say is wow. This is the tastiest vegan food I have tried. From home made BBQ sauce to options such as Mac and cheese, Philly steaks, ribs. I am actually in love with this place. I am gutted there isn’t one in the midlands. I will defiantly be back each time I’m in Manchester. Good portion sizes. The food is so tasty. Good work and amazing restaurant and the staff can’t do enough for you they are so attentive.

Nice food, but the service was pretty poor. In there 4 minute's before I saw someone. Then waited about 10 minutes before I could pay. As well as not saying they put a service charge on.

Such an amazing place! I've eaten in both at Hatch and Withington and got takeout as well and it's just amazing. I love the wings and fries and it's a great portion - properly filling without being to much to finish!! And the garlic herb mayo is insane.

The food was honestly insane. Full of flavour, great portions and came really quickly so was still so hot. Also had a lovely little handwritten note in the bag which was a nice touch. Will 100% order again for a treat night!!

I discovered this place by accident so popped in for some late lunch. Lots of great vegan options to try, i went for loaded mac n cheese and it did not disappoint. Fab little vegan place!

Love this place. There never seems to be a soul inside but by jove is it good. I often go in for an £8 mid-week takeaway courtesy of the early bird meal deal (12-5:30 weds-fri). I have but one irk: please put the wings and fries on the early bird menu. For now, the delicious fried 'chicken' burger will keep me satisfied for months to come. Love from a loyal customer 💋

Popped in today for a late lunch . I had the wings and cheesy fries, my son had wings and fries and my daughter had loaded fries. It was all absolutely delicious. Then we ordered mississipe mud pie to go. We will definitely be back ! Oh and a Big shout out to the guy who took our order ! Brilliant service .

We had a great lunch here as a large group. The waiting staff were very attentive and managed to keep on top of our very large order. Lots of varied options on the menu, and everything that we had was delicious and was very well priced. A perfect lunch place for vegans.

Just happened to google this place looking for food and wow, just delicious, amazing foods, lots of choice for foods and drinks and wonderful welcoming service! Fully recommend! (Just love being vegan and places like this make me realise why)

We went here for lunch and oh my gosh the food was super tasty and plentiful, the service was great and the restaurant is bright, colourful and comfortable with some fab artwork. Always ace when you can go somewhere for food and you can eat anything on the menu with no compromise. We got the wings and cheesy fries, bacon mac n cheese and the noodle salad - delicious. I recommend to all!

Wow!!! As a local resident of Withington, I never thought that I will be writing such a review for a food place. Everything is simply amazing, the flavours, the colours, the vibe! You feel so very welcome from the moment you cross the doorstep. Highly recommend to try the buffalo wings and philly steak fries, but feel free to explore whatever you desire. Definitely coming back and i will bring my besties to share the joy!

Lovely staff, great food. Big portions!! Three of us visited today and had a great time. A previous review mentioned their uncertainty around the vegan status of the menu, but I can confirm it is 100% vegan, despite the menu mentioning things like 'chicken wings' and 'lamb'. So don't let it put you off - it certainly gives V-Rev in the city centre a run for it's money!

I was a bit confused about whether this place is vegan, I would love the menu to be clearer to spark confidence in what I order. I was not disappointed to try it: service is great, and the steak Philly sandwich had perfectly matched flavours!

Amazing Vegan food from a non-vegan! As someone that hasn’t fully committed to being vegan (I know sorry) vegan food can be very hit and miss, this was a massive HIT! Amazing food, really nice portion sizes (I will sleep well tonight) and a nice atmosphere to enjoy it in. Staff really polite and very reasonably priced compared to other Vegan places. Me and my partner ordered from Herbivorous recently and the food was incredible. We missed the delivery allocated time, so made an order over the phone for collection. We live about 15 minutes from there, so it wasn't a major issue. After getting our delivery home it turns out that they missed an item off order, so got in contact and they said I was able to come back and get the item. When I got back there they gave us 2 desserts to compensate us for the inconvenience, which was really nice of them. Would fully recommend going to visit them if you are in the area and in the mood for some delicious vegan junk food.

I've been to a number of vegan places over the years, and Herbivorous did not disappoint. The place had a nice atmosphere and the food was delicious! I will definitely be going there again. Loved it!

Absolutely delicious, could not believe how good their philly cheese steak and chicken burgers are- they tasted better than the real thing !!

I've had a run of amazing luck at finding delicious foody places lately and Herbivorous continued it. Lovely food cleverly done. Distinct ways of presenting the various meat alternatives showed that they had really thought about what it was about texture and flavourings/accompaniments that made for southern fried chicken, or steak strips in a Philly cheese steak sandwich, or lamb. And the fries! OMG the paprika fries! Crispy heaven. And the desserts were sensational. The mississippi mud pie was divine! I need to go back to try the noodles.

Super Good, genuinely the best vegan american style junk food restaurant in Manchester. I strongly suggest the Mac and Cheese. There is just a bit of a wait when getting the food, however, it is completely worth it. Decent portion sizes and economical too.

Purchased the ‘Christmas Cracker’ burger and the deep fried (fake) cheese curds (via Uber Eats) and just WOW. The cheese curds were some of the best vegan food I’ve ever eaten! The perfect balance between deep fried crunchy batter and smooth, flavourful cheese complimented by a seasonal sweet cranberry sauce. Can’t wait to visit the brick and mortar restaurant!

We just ordered a deliveroo from Herbivorous. Wow just wow. Best burger and fries ever. Even if your not Vegan, give it a try as i doubt you will be able to tell the difference, either way you will not be disappointed - the flavours and textures are on point. Will definitely be ordering again.

Could not fault Herbivorous in any way! The staff were all absolutely lovely, and the owners are complete sweethearts. The food really has revolutionised Vegan dining in Manchester, with every dish being more and more flavourful and interesting. Their onion rings are honestly the best I have ever had!
