Harry's Shack in Coleraine

Nice place to relax and unwind. Staff very helpful, didn’t eat as the kitchen closes from around 2:30pm to 5:00pm on a Wednesday and we arrived at 2:45pm, but food looked amazing and by sound of those who were on time the comments were good.

Went down today, wasn’t aware there was a wedding on. No signs up or anything. He was very rude to the lady I was with who has a disability.

Very expensive. Wouldn't go back

We popped into Harry’s Shack for a lunchtime meal, and it was fantastic! I had the fish tacos — absolutely amazing, fresh, and full of flavor. We also shared the chicken wings and the baked Camembert with toasted sourdough, both of which were delicious. We were lucky to sit outside in the sun, soaking up the gorgeous beachside atmosphere. The staff were so, so friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. We loved everything about it and will definitely be back!

You can park on (!) the beach. Had delicious fish and chips. And the icing on the cake was a long walk on the beach with a great view. Super nice and cozy place!

After a lovely day at the beach with my girls I looked up best fish & chips and saw Harry’s shack which was 2 mins away. We walked in and asked if we could take a seat however unfortunately it was fully booked. Little gutted but then the amazing Conor said take a seat which was extremely kind of him. We sat down and our beautiful fish & chips came out all fresh. I was waiting in the queue to get drinks when again Conor noticed me told me to sit down get my dinner and he would get me some drinks. Honestly such a friendly and great place I will definitely be back and will reserve a table next time lol. My girls eat all their fish & chips so compliments to the chef. Thank you again Conor. The big Geordie.

Service was a bit slow but the location was worth the wait.

A gem of a restaurant right on the edge of Portstewart Strand serving excellent food complemented by the beautiful beach views. The four of us all opted for the haddock in ale batter served with chips,mushy peas and tartar sauce.A little on the expensive side but freshly cooked and tasting delicious all washed down with craft draugth beer. Large seating area outside overlooking the beach partially covered by a canopy with its own bar.Hopefully can return in the summer months to enjoy a meal and cool drinks in the sunshine.

One of my favourites in N.I. Plaice, megrim, fish & chips all excellent and potatoes & sides cooked to perfection.

This lovely restaurant is located in the hidden gem of Portstewart Bay. A very cosy place with great views and a relaxing ambience. We enjoyed our late lunch which was simply delicious. Would recommend 200% - 5 stars!

I just love this place! One day I'll have room for pudding.

A small, casual shack, with lots of outside space, obviously empty and closed at this time of year, while a roaring wood burner kept thr inside toasty. Thr atmosphere is good, the staff jolly and the food excellent; we shared a small pot of mussels as a starter, then had fish and chips, all superb. We'll definitely go back when next in the area.

Absolutely by far the best home made onion rings we have ever tasted!!! Lovely staff, great menu selection, chips just like fish and chip shop chips, modern, trendy restaurant tucked away on Port Stewart Strand right by the beach, so amazing views and sea air! Can’t wait to go back, thank you!

What a stunning location looking out over the Strand with crashing breakers. We were over from Scotland to visit relations and were recommended to visit the Shack for lunch. Food was excellent and the barman/waiter very friendly. Would certainly return.

We chose Harry's Shack for our wedding reception on 13/09/24. Donal and his team were fantastic and transformed the Shack into such a lovely wedding venue! The food was incredible and have had so many compliments from our guests. The day ran so smoothly and the team did everything to ensure everyone was having a great day. We couldn't recommend this more to people who are looking for more relaxed wedding day and a unique venue. Thank you Donal and your team for a great day which we will always remember. Great spot right on the beach. Food delicious too. These guys know their food. The boulabaise (not something I’ve had in NI before) was incredible - light, tangy and with the fish bits cooked perfectly. Will definitely be back.

Simply amazing. Some of the best mussels I've had and a lobster caught within sight of the restaurant. Sitting outside at a picnic table on the beach was almost like being in northern California.

Had a quick day trip to Portstewart, this was the first place we went to, and it truly set the perfect tone for the rest of our day. From the moment we walked in, the staff were incredibly welcoming, and the ambiance was magical. We came back later in the day, and to our surprise, the staff remembered us and kindly offered free dessert. Very thoughtful. If you find yourself by the coast in Ireland, I highly recommend stopping by this restaurant. The food is delicious, the location is breathtaking, and the service is outstanding. It’s the kind of place that leaves a lasting memory!

Oh my goodness... This place is incredible... We were a huge group and they managed to fit us in all over and cooked great food for SLL of us.. Everybody very happy!

AMAZING - service, food, location. A much larger than planned group of us recently descended on Harry's Shack and had a huge variety of dietary requirements and requests and they so, so graciously accommodated us and served us. Thank you all very much!

Harry's Shack came highly recommended and the food certainly lived up to expectations. I had the garlic crab claws to start which were amazingly fresh and enormous! There is also a large selection of Irish beers to choose from although they do not have a drinks menu so it is hard to know about them. My main observation is that if you eat inside and the restaurant is busy (which I think it often is), it can be very loud and echoey.

Harry's was recommended to us and it did not disappoint. Booking was easy, but I recommend you do it in advance. Service was great and meu/food were excellent. Highly recommended and we will be back very soon. Seafood top class!!! 👍👍👍😎😎😎

Fabulous location. Food, drinks and snacks all a bit pricey. Waited nearly 45mins after ordering for food, although appreciate it was very busy.

It's a beach bar and unfortunately the lady at reception was very unfriendly. Apparently you can't get tables without a reservation. Ordering for the beach was also not possible. There were 9 tables available outside during our stay. It's a shame we would have liked to eat there. A little tip for CIO, train staff and don't send potential customers away in an unfriendly manner. We weren't the only customers being sent away at that moment. Maybe a better review next visit.

Another fantastic meal here. It never disappoints. Fantastic staff and an amazing location. It's our go to location when we are up here.

Amazing food 😋 unexpected quality, and perfect sized portions

We had to send our turbot back as it wasn't fully cooked and wouldn't come off the bone. When we got it back it was very tasty and flaked off the bone. Instead of an apology we were told that it was cooked properly the first time. The mussels were also disappointing as they were very small.

Staff were very friendly and accommodating, we had booked but arrived slightly early which wasn’t a problem at all , food was outstanding and the service was fast friendly , will definitely be returning

Disappointing place for tourists and travelers with zero customer service, unfriendly staff and strange food service times. Handy for toilets.

Beautiful place and really lovely food. But the positioning of the tables meant we were directly beside a door that was constantly opening and closing, which meant we were very cold. The staff were lovely but I saw that some chicken was pink and asked if it could be redone for my son as I didn't feel comfortable eating it. They came back with the same chicken and said it was tempreture checked and was fine. Lovely place but with those two experiences felt let down.

Very disappointing and overpriced!! Staff were rude and unhelpful. We had five in our party and were seated immediately, but staff then ignored us for at least 20 minutes, so I had to ask for our menus. I generally wouldn’t mind the wait, but the restaurant was not at all busy at the time (just two other tables occupied). Our overpriced drinks order was wrong and my son’s main meal was completely forgotten about, it only arrived after everyone else had finished. There was no apology offered. We felt as though our custom didn’t matter to them. I then stood waiting to pay for quite some time before anyone appeared back to the counter. Not impressed with Harry’s at all.

Worth the visit great food, great beer and a great service right on the beach.

Lovely lunch yesterday - a late Father's day outing. . I had the half lobster, my husband Lemon Sole and our son, the beef sandwich. All just delicious. Their own pale ale was 10/10 too. Our two dogs were welcomed as well, seeing as we were eating outside. Just perfect! The food excelled the menu, which isn't the case in some other local establishments. You obviously have an excellent chef. Congratulations. In fact, very professional staff all round..

WOW What a lovely experience at the end of a very sunny day. Four of us stopped in Harry’s Shack for something to eat based on the reviews we had heard about it and we were not disappointed. All four meals were EXCELLENT. I had the Lemon Sole, my friends had the fish & chips and squid bowl, accompanied by a nice bottle of wine and a pint of beer. We all had dessert, also recommended; Apple crumble, choc pot, panna cotta and 3 scoops of ice cream. The staff were professional, friendly and attentive. Hopefully we will be back soon

Excellent food and great service

Our first visit to Harry's and it won't be our last. Turbot was on the menu the day we visited which went down a treat! A good selection of other dishes to choose from too. Plenty of outside seating where canine companions are allowed. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the restaurant is set in the most beautiful surroundings. We went on a gloriously sunny day so we could walk off our delicious meal along the blue water's edge on golden sand. Hard not to wax lyrical about this place.

Nice setting on the beach but it was very busy at lunch time. Service was very slow, probably due to a lack of staff. Long time for drinks to arrive and before order was taken, and then told there was no fish available. Husband asked if he could have the mussle starter as a main course and was told yes but when it arrived it was a starter. The mussels were tiny. Staff were pleasant and I'm sure at less busy times it would be a great experience, but sadly not for us this time.

There was a foul smell in the restaurant today. Asked the waiter what the issue was and he explained a “waste” pipe had broken. Don’t think the restaurant should be open. We had to leave before we had finished our meal.

Stopped here on our way to the beach by chance. Such a nice vibe, great beer/outdoor area. Had the crab claws, mussels followed by the fish and chips with the fried squid. Also, the bramble and dark n stormy cocktail. By far the best seafood we have tasted. We were not expecting what we have got, we regularly travel all of Ireland and always make sure to try the seafood. The flavour of all dishes and portions were second to none. Could not recommend this place, hidden gem , make sure to try! We hope to be back.

Having found nowhere to eat in Portstewart with our dog on our first night I phoned to see if they would take us the following evening. I was told we could only sit outside but , when I said it wasn’t really the weather for it I was told a couple of tables inside were reserved for well behaved dogs .We walked down on a particularly wild night only to be told we’d have to sit outside. Why are so many places in Northern Ireland turning business away when the hospitality industry has had such a difficult few years and dog ownership has gone through the roof .. you can’t class yourself as dog friendly if you make us sit outside in all weathers.

It’s…ok. Service wasn’t great, although they just seemed short, batter on the fish was thick and overall it was expensive for what it was. Atmosphere was good, location is nice, but overall wouldn’t be rushing back.

Delightful meals in a phenomenal setting. Staff was super friendly. Recommend booking in advance as the place was quite full, even for a Tuesday night. Looking at the photos of the menu before we arrived we thought we would know what to offer, but the menu must change quite frequently so best to just decide when you get there. Everything we had was very tasty, but highly recommend the brisket tacos. We're only in town for a few more days but seriously contemplating returning to Harry's Shack.

Walked in glared at for a minute or 2 then someone came to ask what I wanted handed a menu and sat for 20 minutes eventually just walked out

Made a booking six weeks in advance of the 19th April. Drove from Derry to Portstewart only to find out they had mistakenly taken the booking as venue was being used for a wedding. Even thought I could give date and time of the call to make the booking no explanation offered. Not good enough.

We took a trip from Dublin to see the Giants Causeway and stopped here for lunch. Soo good! Quality seafood. Probably one of the best chowders I’ve had in Dublin and I’ve had quite a few! The posset for dessert was so refreshing. The staff was very friendly. I dream of returning for this chowder Lol

10/10 experience. Some of the best chicken wings I’ve ever have. Lovely service and so nice being right next to the beach!

This was meant to be a highlight eating out family experience!! Sadly it was very much the wrong type of anticipated celebration!! We will not return! The name of this eating out venue is appropriate…. Shack!! Sorry but I have to be honest with you my review!!

Lovely food and generally nice service. One girl with blonde hair just stared at me rudely when I asked politely for ketchup for my daughter and didn't bring it.

We had lunch on Thursday afternoon after having a walk on the beach. Didn’t book a table but there was plenty of space. We had burger and chips, fish and chips, onion rings and two teas, £47 on the bill. I would say the food tastes fresh but price is probably a little on the higher side. Kids and dog friendly - I saw baby high chairs and customer bring their dog in. There is a unisex toilet next to the kitchen.

Absolutely love this place. My favourite for the food and view. Always worth the trip. Remember to leave your car on the sand for as long as possible and you get a free car wash.
