This is a bit of a tradition when visiting family on our last day we swing past for our breakfast. It is as per description old school and I always feel like it is a little stuck in time. From the trays that look like they have been in use for decades and the tired tea pots, It is basic. That said the food is freshly prepared and normally good portions, don't be expecting a skinny coffee anytime soon although the coffee machine does produce a passible cappuccino or Latte. It's priced reasonably although like with most places tends to have crept up but would say it is still reasonably priced. having a big breakfast you are unlikely to walk out hungry. I am not a fan of the number system to let you know your order is ready (but unless they went to table service which may impact efficiency/staffing) it kind of works and certainly maintains that old school feel.

We had been there for Sunday lunch on 2 previous occasions. last year. We called yesterday 23rd April 2023....What a change. 1st thing we noticed. The place had very few customers. Previous times it had been very busy. We ordered a chicken roast dinner. I would say it has to rate as the worst roast dinner we have had there. It was a whole half chicken on a plate, peas, carrots, cauliflower, and 1 small skin on miniature potato cut in half.....With an additional yorkshire pudding extra. The yorkie had been microwave heated ( All soggy ). The chicken half was hot, but the remainder was cold. Not just cool, but just out of the fridge cold. We had to send it back to be reheated....Seems to have changed hands, but we wont be going back.

I used to visit this place as Tuffins when my brother lived in the area. I went there last week, first time since the store was redeveloped by the Co-Op, from Knighton, but got a shock... What happened?? Since it was taken over by the Co-Op, the variety and amount of food available has greatly reduced. Half the store is now M&Co; clothing where had once stood racks of food. This huge clothing area lay deserted during my visit. I asked a member of staff how she compared the two stores... She said "I don't know, it suits me working here". When I suggested there was more food available when the store operated as Harry Tuffins, she said "I don't know about logistics." Maybe she was told by her employers not to give any opinions on the new store, who knows?

Service is fast and friendly and there is a kind of retro feel to the place. It reminds me very much of the cafes we stopped at on coach trips as a kid and I think this is a strength that could be enhanced with a bit of gingham and some artificial flowers lol. If money is tight you could definitely do worse than stopping here, portions are enormous and all five of us had breakfast for just over £27. Bargain :)

This morning me and my daughter and 3 children went into café for light refreshments. My daughter ordered a cheese and onion panni and got a cheese and onion toasted sandwich at the panni price, 2 of the children wanted crisps, on return to the table we found out they were out of date, the 3rd child had a piece of cake described as cream cake when in fact it was butter cream filling. When I asked to speak to the owner of the café, she said I was rude and abusive when all I wanted was the problem resolved. Also a gentleman stood in the doorway and said give her, her money, and get her out. I run a café and I know this not the way to treat a customer

Called after a long absence, to do some shopping in Harry Tuffins quaint and wonderful shop and was surprised to find the car park virtually empty. Later all became clear, Tuffins is now the Co-op!!! All the quirkiness which made this shop so popular and different has gone and you are left with a below average supermarket with expensive prices! The Staff seemed demoralised and lacking in their old gusto! Won't be returning. Also the cafe needed a very good deep clean and staff need some customer care training. As for the caged birds!!I I felt desperately sorry for them to be seeing their days out in small cages in the entrance to the supermarket. They should be taken away and sent somewhere to experience freedom and space before they die, poor little souls and SHAME on those allowing that to happen!!

Four of us popped in for a coffee whilst visiting the area. My husband also indulged in a cream tea. The total cost for 2 lattes, 1 hot chocolate and 1 cappuccino came to £5.00. The additional cost for a scone, plus a pot of jam, 2 pats of butter and a tub of Rodda's clotted cream brought the total up to £6.20! We couldn't believe that places offering such amazing value still existed. Top marks to glorious Tuffins. The staff were extremely pleasant and efficient and the whole place had an ambience of friendliness. Visited the cafe which opens at 8 am whilst using the laundrette and also doing some shopping. Was the first customer of the day but was joined by several regulars who chatted with staff. The breakfast was cooked to order and took about 10 minutes to arrive. Enjoyed my pot of tea whilst waiting. The regular breakfast consists of egg, 2 bacon, an extra large sausage, beans, tomato, mushrooms, hash brown and toast. Excellent quality and value for money and if you are passing I would highly recommend. The laundrette is unmanned but is well looked after. It is more expensive than the one I normally use for washing duvets in Newtown which was closed for repairs. I also did some shopping. It reminded me of the old Kwik Saves that were once a feature of the high street. Products are stocked in metal units and it is very utilitarian. However the difference between Tuffins and Kwik Save is the massive range of stock. Now owned by the Coop, Tuffins has a unique quality. It has an excellent Garden Centre, a free cash machine in the store and a petrol station. I hope Tuffins is around for years to come.

A sunny Saturday evening and no restaurants in town had any space, so our only option was the chippy. Well how fortunate we were. The food was brilliant, well cooked and great tasting batter on the thick cod portions, delicious chips and mushy peas just as they should be. Helpful friendly staff advised us of an idyllic spot to sit and eat our order on the old bridge over the river. It was a delight to sit over the river and savour our evening meal out of the paper . If we are in the area again we will not hesitate to go back for seconds, keep up the great work guys! Best wishes for continued success, John and Caroline
