Right by the ferry terminal so the ideal place to wait for a crossing. This is popular with workmen and with families. They serve a wide range of food and drinks. From snacks to full meals. From breakfasts to afternoon teas. I enjoyed a coffee and a tray bake. Would have called in twice more during my visit to Yell but it was closed.

Now called Geoffreys, this cafe is at the ferry point to Unst so it's handy if you're waiting for a ferry. It doesn't look that inviting from the outside but was warm & pleasant inside. The owner was really friendly & we had tea & lovely cake served very promptly. The lunch menu looked interesting too but we had to be on our way.

We called in last week en route from Unst to Lerwick, really just for somewhere warm to wait. The surroundings were lovely, the cake was pretty good and the owner even offered to run us to Ulsta if our 'bus din't turn up. So friendly.

Popped in here while travelling around Yell. Last time we were in here was many moons ago and it has been considerable done up. We had a tuna toastie not a very exciting order but it was very nice. Sweet gorl serving who came every day on the boat from Fetlar. What dedication ! Very clean nice atmosphere.

Visited recently with a friend for a late breakfast. I should note the cafe is now called Geoffreys of Shetland and you can find opening times etc on facebook if you search using that name. There we several other customers in but we were served promptly and with one of the best tasting and presented cooked breakfasts I've ever had in Shetland and at a very reasonable price. Staff were attentive and friendly and I am happy to recommend this cafe to anyone. Other family members have had similarly positive experiences. Do check online as to opening times as there are some days they are not open now that we are moving into the winter season.

This cafe has a pleasant staff but this is about all to recommend it. The food was ok but several items on the small menu were unavailable and my hot chocolate was barely warm. Rather pricey for the portion size and area, but not shockingly so. I'd go again if there was nothing else open.

This place has changed hands so many times & its basically a portacabin thats drab..locals like myself just drive past it, although its at the ferry stop as its simply not open half of the time

Visited The Gutcher Goose cafe for the first time today and we were very impressed. The menu was small and the choices simple but yummy. Our lunch was delicious. Hubby went so far as to say this was the best sweet chilli chicken he had ever tasted!! There was a large variety of flavoured coffees to choose from too and this seems to be a speciality of the cafe. The cafe itself shares its space with a small shop so there's not an awful lot of room, but with plenty of access to tables and chairs it wasn't too cramped and the tables were well spaced. Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch at The Gutcher Goose Cafe and can highly recommend it to anyone who is visiting Yell and Unst. We will definitely go back again.

Last time I went into the 'Gutcher Goose cafe' it was abit out dated. They have now, put a small shop inside as well as a cafe, exactly what Yell needs. Staff are lovely. Breakfast was delicious. Shop is reasonably cheap too.

During a drive around Yell we got there at 2.45 17th July gasping for a coffee and it wasn't open. According to their Facebook page they're recruiting for a new manager so the place is closed down. The only other place to eat on Yell is Mid Yell and we couldn't find the cafe or whatever there, only the pub - again, closed. I appreciate the issue of demand and also the current situation at Gutcher but maybe it would be a good idea if the tourist leaflets were updated to let visitors know the place isn't currently available.

I have visited this cafe, now officially called the Gutcher Goose Cafe by the new owners, several times recently. Each time the food has been excellent and the service great. They do specials at lunchtime which are very yummy and reasonably priced. I rently had a salmon pate with salad which was extremely good. The only slight downside is the very strange furniture which is out of character with the building, it's like old church pews and very roughly made. It's a pity or this would have given it a fifth star in my rating. They are also adding a small convenience store area soon, which will be handy and convenient for passing trade. If your passing I would certainly recommend a visit.

Paid a couple of visits to this cafe on the same day (when heading north and then south). The person serving in the cafe was very friendly and made you feel welcome. The food was overall good and the cappuccino acceptable.

First time visited here for years. Sassermaet roll and Americano coffee were absolutely brilliant. Perfect pit stop on the way to Unst!

I heard the Gutcher Cafe had new owners so knew I had to try the food again to see if it was still up to scratch! The soup and egg rolls were still delicious and staff very friendly! All that was missing was the chips but I think they do them now from what I hear. The cafe is a great place to eat on Yell esp when going between ferries! Keep up the good work lasses and I'll see you again next year!

Great little cafe at the top of Yell with new very friendly owners for the 2013 season. It's a great place to stop for a drink or bite to eat while waiting for ferries or on a tour of the North Isles. I always hopped over from Unst to the Gutcher Cafe whenever I was hungry. They do the best fried egg sandwiches and carrot cake in Shetland! The chips are lovely too. The homebakes and fudge are made by the staff and taste delicious! Can't wait to visit again next year!

Fantastic value for money, great food cooked while you wait, they say breakfast sets you up for the day well the large breakfast will keep you going all day and more. It was the only place open when the boat comes in at 7.00 but was an oasis on a dreich morning, superb.

It’s more of a good cafe than a restaurant and it is also a caravan and motorhome site plus wigwams ( colourful wooden weatherproof huts). It’s at Braewick not Brae which is 15 miles south. It has all the facilities that a caravan/ motorhome site needs. Electric hook up, drive over drains, black water disposals, clean water available, good parking surfaces. Problem is it takes a bit of finding these facilities! Even the pitches take a bit of locating as only a couple are numbered. All the rest have been washed off, blown away etc. The showers are looking old and are difficult to manage. There is a playground and the beach is 5 mins walk but bear in mind this is 1000 km north of London, nearest neighbours are Iceland and Norway so the water is refreshing. But the views are spectacular cliffs of red rock and in the sea a set of rock stacks (the drongs) look like a Viking longship turned to stone. Wonderful to look at at midnight. You might see Foula, 40 plus km away. There are blow holes through the cliffs, take care. The Northmavine musicians play at Hillswickplus informal dancing for a great night out but it’s a 5 minute drive or an hours walk. Great place just needs an update.

What a privilege to enjoy the Cullen skink and fish and chip meal. This is an out of the way place to visit but should be on everybody's Journey! they do not serve lunch until 12:00 sharp! no exceptions! So instead I had a shot of the whiskey liqueur at 11:00 in the morning; whereas, the locals were consistently coming in and getting a breakfast sandwich made on a homemade roll. Btw, it is inside the fishery University on the main floor. the food was amazing!
