I didn’t like the food from this place. I ordered butter paneer, garlic naan, chicken sekuwa and pulaw rice . Butter paneer was too sweet and naan was not cooked properly as well as it was too thick . It got all wasted. Although pulaw rice was good but chicken sekuwa was not grilled properly and it wasn’t tasty. So, I don’t recommend any of this from here . I think you need to improve lot more. I’m really disappointed . I’m not goona order from this place again 😡😕😒

The Gurkha Bhojan is now the Gurkha Mountain I believe but happy to be corrected. Our very friendly but inexperienced waiter told us that it is under new management and that he had only been there for two days. This part of Walsall Town centre seems to be dying on its feet, to say its quiet would be an under statement. Sadly even though it was a Saturday night we were the only diners in the restaurant. On the way back to the car I noticed the pubs and restaurants nearby weren't doing any better either. We enjoyed our meal, and to be honest judging by appearances it was a bit of a surprise. It's quite a large dining room, very clean but naturally it needs an atmosphere. I particularly liked the complimentary bottle of water on the table which was a first. The onion bhaji, more pakora though, was very good although we hadn't finished the poppadoms when they were served. The mains were good, juicy chicken in both but despite being a Jalfrezi and a curry they did look remarkably similar. The gravy was had a thick creamy texture but had far more flavour than the look of it suggested. The sides of rice, chips and grill naan were only ok. The Gurkha beer and the house red were excellent. The bill was reasonable for what we had noting that prices have gone up everywhere. I do hope they can make a go of it.

The new management under Rojina Timsina is amazing , it’s worth a visit.

Very nice food ,I had the lamb railway cabin curry lamb melted in your mouth, the only downside decor inside if they get that right, they have a little gem,I do recommend to eat here,

Very quiet when we visited, late in the evening. Nevertheless, we were welcomed and received excellent service. Excellent food, we shared meals between Four. Lamb Railway curry recommended.

Unfortunately, following a long and satisfying experience with the Gurkha Bhojan, where we left a 5 star review about a year ago, I'm bound and very disheartened to leave such a review. We ordered very early for a later time, leaving about 2 hours. Firstly, we recieved the order about 10 minutes late, after I contacted the restaurant. In the matter of minutes, we contacted the restaurant to suggest that the portion size for two of the curries we ordered was half amd just above half a box. I was initially asked if I could have it next time but on insisting, they agreed to resend the order. We were told that it should be 10-15 minutes, but I waited for 45 minutes instead. Again with disappointment, it was to find out the further delivered boxes to have the same amount of curries. Upon questioning, I was informed that this is the amount of curries. It was not the first time that we have ordered and as I questioned the delivery driver, if this would be the same amount for a price for £9.00 ( paneer makhani) if cooked at home and his reply was it would be a little cheaper. He informed that unfortunately no other customer has questioned on the quantity. I hope that others think of it too. I understand the cost of living but £9.00 for 250 gram of paneer makhani portion, I believe is over the top. Additionally, previously the food didn't use to have any colour, where now the paneer was full of colour to the stage, it was a little bitter and fair amount of oil on top. The tandoori roti by the time we had the food 45 minutes later soggy. The two dals were the only thing that was good in taste nice (despite the poor portion size for one of them), and one of the dals had gone cold. According to the restaurant, it was ok for me to reheat the food in the microwave as we had to wait 45 minutes for the food. Honestly, it is a real disappointment as a whole.

Outstanding Indian-Nepalese food. This was my fifth visit this year and the quality has remained high throughout that time. Highly recommend the lamb rara and samosa chaat. Absolutely delicious.

What an excellent experience. Food was absolutely delicious from the first mouth full to the last. The menu is an interesting combination of traditional Indian food with a range of authentically Nepalese options and some special fusion Indo/ Chinese fusion dishes. The is also a whole page of chef specials. As vegetarians we were spoiled for choice and one of the highlights was the amazing and very flavoursome Cauliflower Manchurian. Although it’s while since we had been we were welcomed as old friends and the service was impeccable. It’s worth noting that they are licensed and have a range of reasonably priced alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks . A great evening all round.

100% the best Indian food in Walsall and probably better than anything you can get in Birmingham. The fact it’s Indian-Nepalese is a bonus. Everything freshly cooked. Meat is great quality. Curries are packed with flavour and are authentic (not watered down for the English market). Prices are amazing for the quality of food. You must go here.

Went for a meal yesterday the food was very tasty. I had the lamb shank on the bone melted in your mouth. The sauce was gorgeous. The young man who was served us was very pleasant and helpful. Definitely going again.

We went try it last night. The food was excellent, the service was very good, the atmosphere was less good, there were just the two of us, a table of 3 and a table of one. This restaurant deserves better than that. I will go again. David Large

Meal with family and friends there were six of us so we tried a wide variety of starters and mains all really excellent we will return. Highly recommend this restaurant and its friendly staff.

Visited on a weekend and it was very quiet, but why? This really is a great hidden gem. The food is wonderfully spiced to perfection, and the dishes have a very unique taste. There dishes are spicier than a lot of other restaurants, so i wouldn't ask for any hotter than it already comes. The service was very professional, the manager Kyle was very attentive and helpful. I would definitely visit again.

There are better curry places in Walsall and surrounding area but better than some also very competitive with a good service

I have eaten here twice, both times the food was extremely well prepared. The service was very friendly and polite. Overall a very enjoyable experience which no doubt I will repeat next time I'm in Walsall.

Went there yesterday with kids ...staff was nice and food was amazing proper home made authentic type food...5.99 per curry such decent prize too...must visit.

We dined in here last night forvthe very first time, and it will now be one of our places to go and take friends and family to. The service is excellent, Kyle is a lovely young man and gives you a really warm welcome. The food was delicious and plentiful, and very reasonably priced. Both the Railway lamb, and chicken manchurian were stunning and there are very many more dishes we cant wait to try. They are getting a drinks license soon , but thats not really an issue..its the food and service that matters! Keep up the great work all of you at The Ghurka, we will see you very soon. As an update on this great little restaurant. We have now visited around 8 times and can honestly say the food is beautiful and very fresh too. The mommo starters are gorgeous and beautifully presented as are all the dishes, and the staff are very friendly and helpfull if you ask about any dishes. Atrocious service. I placed an order, £30 worth of food and they cancelled it because we were too far away from the restaurant and it would take too long. we are 15 mins away. this is not a me problem, they should sort that out like a good restaurant does.they are just showcasing their laziness and it’s not on. they decide to tell me my orders cancelled 20 mins after I’ve ordered, why the delay? don’t go here, save ur time go get a maccies instead.

Food here is amazing. I had the Lamb Rara, mushroom rice and peshwari naan and it was delicious. The food was freshly cooked and very tasty. Staff are very friendly and attentive. Everyone in Walsall should give this place a try.

Best food in Walsall! I've always moaned that Walsall needs more diverse restaurants and kinda thought this was "just another curry place"...how wrong I was. Tonight was my second visit, and I have nothing but praise for this place, and the friendly, welcoming people that work here. A family run business, making some of the tastiest food I've had in a good while, and from fresh ingredients. I recommend the Gurkha beer (much better than Cobra or Tiger in my opinion!). Nothing is too much trouble, and I highly recommend you give this place a try 👍

Chose this restaurant as it was close to our hotel and we've never had Nepalese food before. So glad we tried it. The staff were very friendly. Would recommend trying the momo as a starter. All the food was fresh and well prepared - very rich in flavour and good portion size. Its definitely worth a visit.

Excellent service from start to end. Very cosy family run business with fresh home cooked food. The quality of the food in particular was very pleasing, with excellent service provided. Staff were very helpful and knowledgeable about Nepali cuisine. I would definitely recommend Gurkha Bhojan and I will most definitely be going there again in the very near future!

All the Gurkha Bhojan staff were very welcoming and so lovely. It felt so homely from the moment we arrived. The environment felt so cosy throughout the whole experience and time in the restaurant. The food and service provided was excellent and outstanding. I came with my family and we ordered for starters chicken jhol momos and chilli chicken. For main dishes, we ordered further chicken momos and polleko kukhura. All the dishes served were eye catching and mouthwatering. The Nepali flavours in all dishes served were beyond belief. The food was truely spectacular. The service was truely amazing. I couldn’t have asked for better Nepali cuisine.

I had mix grill and chicken momo and chicken Manchurian .food was quite well cooked and service was good too.will come again tonight😄.

Absolutely amazing, delicious food, just what Walsall needs. Lovely service too. Each dish was exquisitely flavoured, can't recommend it enough, want to go straight back there and try the rest of the good. Brilliant place!

Had a lovely meal, very generous portions, sharing sizzler platter was delicious and i would recommend the Lamb Rara...swilled down with very nice Gurka beer...pleasant surroundings and very helpful front of house...reasonable prices.

Made very welcome, had authentic Gurkha food which was up with the best I've ever had, and I will be going back for more.

Lovely Food! Staff are management are also so helpful! Despite customers like DAVE ROBERTS who leave bad reviews simply because he was denied to bring his own booze in after being told politely they cannot do this as they now own a licence. Yet DAVE got rude even before sitting his intoxicated self on a seat to eat. Sorry Dave you missed out on a fabulous meal because you rather drink your £5 case of beer then support the buisness. Management lovely, food fantastic! Will definitely be coming back!

I attended this restaurant as part of a large group for a Christmas party. Good quality Nepalese and Indian food and very accomodating staff, would definitely return.

I tried the ‘Gosht Kali Mirch’ lamb dish and it was superb, full of flavour, you can tell they use fresh, high quality ingredients. The lamb melts in your mouth, no gristle or nasty bits. Can’t wait to try the other dishes! Highly recommended!

What a wonderful place! Being Nepalese myself, the food was very authentic especially the momo 🥟 which was bursting with Nepalese flavours. I find it difficult to find authentic Nepalese food in the West Midlands but this place really reminds me of home. The staff are also friendly and will go the extra mile for each customer. I will definitely be coming here every week haha

Had a lovely meal here. The staff were very welcoming, friendly and and helpful. The food was excellent. There are naturally Nepalese dishes which is what had attracted me in the first place. I recommend the momos which were excellent. There is also a wide selection of Indian dishes including most of the Indian restaurant staples. I will certainly be returning.

What a lovely restaurant with extremely nice staff. Then of course the food. Its glorious. Its Nepalese/ Indian food and the chef really knows what hes doing. Everything is extremely tasty and perfectly spiced. Theyve just got their booze license after a delay. Bend-free bottleht Parking is not an issue even though its in the town centre. Simply park behind The Flan O'Briens( free at night

Good quality food friendly staff and excellent service .

We arrived on a cold Sunday night, Nevertheless staff were attentive and relaxed. The place was warm and welcoming. Surprisingly the glass of wine I had was really good. The manager explained that the food was Nepalese and despite some similarities to Indian and Pakistani Cuisine that we should perhaps try some different dishes and he was happy to advise. The food when it came was clearly freshly cooked and delicious. Of special mention was an extremely tasty Nepalese cauliflower starter which was very different from anything I had before. The mains were substantial and distinctive, clearly prepared with fresh ingredients and expertly cooked. The food was reasonably priced as were the alcoholic drinks. All on all an enjoyable night out over good food in a restaurant with a welcoming atmosphere. And it’s worth a mention- if you are a vegetarian you are spoiled for choice compared with many restaurants. All heartily recommended.

Nice bright open style restaurant offering Nepalese, Indian and Indo-Chinese. food. Staff and service both excellent. The food was delicious. Chicken momos are cooked to order and are worth ordering.Looking like small money bags the chicken is perfectly spiced and the dumpling is light. Fish Pakora is lightly spiced and comes with a light batter. The mains are cooked to your liking,with the meat, chicken and Lamb,both succulent and tender. Reasonably priced and with great food available for everyone's taste I would recommend trying it and will be visiting again.
