Güneş Restaurant in Waltham Forest

I’m extremely disappointed with my recent order. I spent £75 on a platter but some of the items were missing. When I reached out to the restaurant, they refused to deliver the missing food, did not offer a refund, and provided no real resolution. Customer service was unhelpful and dismissive, which made the experience even worse. I expect better from a business that values its customers. I won’t be ordering again and would not recommend this place to others.

We are regular customer, we love to go every Sunday to have breakfast. We started going almost a year ago since we tried Become our favourite restaurant The food is delicious, and what to say about the service Aisha and Cristina are super friendly, very attractive and they make as feel as we are at home.

Absolutely amazing, we shared a large hot mezze plater as well as mains and were surprised by how generous their portions were! The food itself was incredible, fresh, soft prawns and succulent lamb. All sides were delicious, we recommend getting the tzatziki and hummus with whatever you order. Our server Christine was so hospitable and made us feel really welcome. Would highly recommend, thank you so much for a lovely dinner.

Faiza gave us a wonderful experience at the restaurant. She was friendly, helpful, and professional, making sure everything we needed was taken care of quickly. Decided to have lunch here, the venue was comfortable and had a good atmosphere. Service was good We were seen to our table without a delay. Our waitress Fizal was attentive and took our orders. Drinks and food arrived quickly thereafter. The food was very good and did not disappoint! We over ordered, but our waitress was happy to provide containers for us to take home the extras without a fuss I might add. Happy to recommend and will be returning in the future when I am in the area.

Would never recommend this restaurant also should be reported the owner of this restaurant got so rude to he’s staff while we was having dinner he start shouting and tried to hit them. most of he’s staff can’t speak English but doesn’t mean he can do what ever he wants this person should be reported soon as possible do not ever go to that restaurant.

This is our go-to Turkish restaurant. The food and service for takeaway or dine in is always perfect. The portions are so generous and the quality of the food is wonderful.

This is one of my fav places I have tried in London! Amazing food-the best lamb I have experienced. Excellent customer service. Ali was particularly helpful in advising on marinated lamb ribs. Now it’s my fav dish!

Despite reserving a table well in advance and spending £150 at this place one evening, when we finished our food an angry looking woman dropped the bill on the table and ordered us to leave saying this table has booking. There were at least 6-7 empty tables. I will not recommend this restuarant to any one. Nearby there is another Turkish restuarant called Gokyuzu that has much better customer service and friendly staff. Avoid Gunes at all cost, do not waste your money there.

Went out with my family for a nice dinner. The food was good however the service from the staff was poor. We had just finished our meal and ordered Turkish tea. The tea arrived and the waitress told us to hurry up as they have another reservation for the table. This was the first time we received such poor service in a restaurant. From the time we had sat down to when we had quickly left, 1h 30mins had barely passed . Although the food was great, the service was appalling so we will not be eating there again. Instead of eating here, walk 5 mins and there is a Turkish restaurant called Gokyuzu which has much nicer food and 10/10 service

Today, my spouse and I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary at Güneş Restaurant based on a friend’s recommendation. The mezes and main courses were absolutely delicious. When waitress Faiza, realised it was our anniversary, she and her team surprised us with a small dessert. Thank you to the entire team for making our day so special!

Amazing place with amazing staff and amazing food and drink

Solid 4.5/5 stars for this restaurant. The food is beautiful. Chicken shish was tender and well seasoned and the chicken liver was cooked to an absolute perfection. Portions were just right. The atmosphere inside is unique and stylish. We were also well taken care of by our waiter, Ali. He was very welcoming and professional.

Excellent environment, friendly service, great menu choices and really decent food and at affordable prices. Specially their Chicken platter. Although the restaurant was very busy and despite not having any booking "Christina" was kind enough to locate a corner for us in a nice area. She also is a fantastic server with a broad smile and professional attitude. Will be back and will also recommend others.

I visited Guneş in April 2024, a Turkish restaurant located in Walthamstow, for breakfast. My dining experience was a mixed bag of flavours and service. Upon arrival, I opted for the vegetarian breakfast while my friend chose the meat option. The owner of the restaurant approached our table to inquire about our satisfaction, which was a thoughtful gesture. I took this opportunity to offer feedback, noting that the spinach was overly salty and the seeded 'simit' lacked freshness despite being heated up. Disappointingly, the 'Kaymak' turned out to be a soggy whipped cream rather than the traditional Turkish dairy product I anticipated. Despite raising these concerns to the waiter, the owner did not make an appearance to address our feedback, which was disappointing given his initial engagement. However, the day was salvaged by the exceptional service provided by our waiter, Ahmet. With a positive attitude and adept customer service skills, Ahmet managed to mitigate our dissatisfaction. He apologized sincerely, acknowledged our experiences, and assured us that our feedback would be communicated to the team to improve future experiences. In terms of the food, while there were some misses with the spinach and 'simit', the flat Turkish bread was a saving grace. However, the lack of authenticity in the 'Kaymak' was a significant letdown for someone familiar with Turkish cuisine. Overall, Guneş Turkish Restaurant offers potential with its menu offerings, but improvements in consistency and authenticity are necessary to fully satisfy discerning diners. With attentive service like that provided by Ahmet, there is hope for a more enjoyable dining experience in the future.

Today, 25.01.2025, me and my friends had dinner in this restaurant. I really liked the atmosphere in this place. A clean and cozy place with really nice and friendly staff. The food was delicious!!! A girl Cristina was our waitress and she was amazing. A big Thank you to Cristina and we will definitely come back.

Ms Fatma, one of the restaurant staff, was incredibly helpful and so kind. She truly made our experience wonderful, which was exactly what we needed on a Friday evening after work. The food was absolutely delicious as well, making the whole experience even better. A big thank you to her and to the entire team!

This was a good local place to eat. The food was filling, the service from the waiters was good and they were very attentive and alert to our needs. Before we even ordered they bought us out complimentary bread, salad and cacik which I loved. I ordered this sort of chicken & mashed potato with mushrooms special which was about £16-£17. It was so filling! I’m glad they had mocktail selections which is standard for a turkish restaurant but regardless good to see always. I got a virgin piña colada and it tasted good. My friend got lamb beyti and a strawberry mocktail, the presentation was so pretty! She also enjoyed her food and finished it off. Overall I am quite satisfied, I’ll definitely be back to visit and eat here again. Missing a star only because the place was not as big as expected which isn’t that much of an issue but we were quite close to other dining guests and there’s not many spaces set out for 2 guest tables or for anyone wanting to eat solo. However do visit!

Headed to Gunes for breakfast for the first time this weeked and was incredibly impressed by the food and service. I have frequented Gunes numerous times for their main menu, which is always excellent, and it's nice to see that the breakfast is the as good, if not better.

We went to Gunes for breakfast and it didn't disappoint. The breakfast is great value and super delicious. Accompanied by bottomless Turkish tea it was really 5/5. The service was fantastic and we highly recommend you visit!

Went to Gunes restaurant on the 25/10/24 with group of colleagues and friends. The Waiters & waitresses were very friendly and accomodating. Service and food were excellent. The portions were quite large, so ended up taking some home. Which was ideal The staff joined in with us dancing and singing it was a great, jolly & enjoyable time.

Good turkish food, I enjoyed the chicken doner, chops and the rice from the mixed platter.

Fizer was the best service iv ever received and they gave us rice pudding after are beautiful meal and I left very satisfied.

This is Hellfire & I'm brutally honest in my reviews. The food - absolutely everything was below Turkish standard of "good food" that I currently have (Gokyuzu still is, for me, the best Turkish food I tried in London, alongside service). Felt cheaply made (the lamb soup had barely any lamb in it for example) and tasted very "mechanical", not the home cooked taste you'd expect. The menu is made so you'd think you have a ton of choices when they're basically same main things with slightly details, just seems confusing, not pleasant to choose. Service - the waiter didn't give me and my business partner at the time privacy at all (always standing very close to our table) and when I told her she wasn't nice, she said her mother has cancer so her behaviour is excusable :). Like I cared, of course, I emphasise, but she is there for a job to do. If I will receive a polite apology from the owner for the service they provided and the quality of the food that day, I might just delete this review (not amend) and give them a second chance :). Ruthlessly, Hellfire.

The best Turkish meal I have had so far

I ordered one regular and one lamb shish wrap for lunch today. I got two regular lamb döner with chips instead. When I said one was large and I didn't order chips, I am told that regular is "big enough" and kindly offered a refund for the chips if I don't want them. I thought chips can be nice and paid with chips (got the wraps as well). Chips was quite good indeed. However, the meat in the wrap was not properly cooked and we couldn't eat it. Maybe it was a busy time or the orders got mixed but I am a little disappointed with the food. People are very kind and atmosphere was very good though. I hope this comment helps you. Best regards

And coming to drinks are extraordinary turkish tea , cokatials are highly recommended I like rice pudding, traditional baklava and kunefe are my desserts suggestions. Amazing Experience at gunes restaurant I recently visited gunes Restaurant and had an incredible experience. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, with beautiful Turkish décor.The staff were friendly and attentive, ensuring we felt well taken care of throughout the meal. The food was nothing short of outstanding. We started with a selection of mezes, each bursting with flavor — the hummus was creamy, the babaganoush smoky, and were perfectly seasoned. For the main course, we had the sarma beyti, iskender kebab, lamb chops and it was absolutely delicious — perfectly cooked and full of rich, authentic flavors. The lamb was tender and juicy, and the spices were just right. To finish off, we tried the baklava and Turkish coffee. The baklava was sweet, flaky, and had just the right amount of honey, while the coffee was strong and aromatic — a perfect end to a fantastic meal. Used to come here before as everything was on point.What a disgrace now.Bread on breakfast stale (for sure frozen from a long time) and the SERVICE was a nightmare.The girl with a red lipstick was full of attitude and having loud jokes with colleagues and acting as she is the owner. I guess nobody cares anymore who they hire to represent their business.

This has become our ‘go to’ Turkish restaurant, the food is gorgeous, cocktails divine and the service exceptional, special thank you to Melissa who looked after us so well last night. Special shout out to the chefs who all made time to say goodbye to us as we left. Would highly recommend.

The meal was absolutely fantastic. Each element was clearly very fresh, made with love & cooked to perfection. I will certainly be going back. Could only be improved with a wider beer selection and the timing between the sides arriving and our main could have been slightly reduced.

staff were beauiful and very prolite indeed even open the door for you when leaving relax for bit before leaving having eaten to much. If you arriving by car, you might problem packing in the area, so better to leave the car at home if you local or you can leave it in walthamstow cental car park and walk down Gunes Restaurant. There is some kind of wheelchair access since I have used twice for my daughter.
