I've been put off returning after contending with two other female customers sat at another table far to close to me who constantly spoke about some other woman's baby who although only fairly new born had been taken swimming! I also had bright sunshine in my face and was unable to get out the sun or away from these overbearing customers until I'd finished eating. The stairs are steep to climb and too difficult while carrying any heavy bag of shopping and the café can get too busy so crowded for my liking. It also once served me smoked salmon so it isn't vegetarian or wasn't then, this was a few years ago now. I've also been given cold soup that had obviously just been quickly reheated in a microwave when it was just slightly warm around the edges! I did return and mentioned it to a male member of staff who then let me off paying for whatever I ordered then. This was when a couple with a young family ran the café.

We trekked across Liverpool to find this little veggie/vegan place and weren't disappointed. The guys were really friendly, the menu was interesting and the food was freshly cooked and delicious. Definitely worth a visit.

It really pains me to write this review but I do feel compelled to write it in the hope that you may act upon my criticisms . My husband and I have always loved and raved about Greendays , we have even written two 5 star reviews on TripAdvisor and recommended you to our friends and family ,but unfortunately after our last two visits we have decided to stop visiting. Firstly the wait for our two sandwiches was 45 mins , I thought the wait was far too long especially that it wasn't that busy . Also I know it may be a small thing to some but watering down the hand soap in the loo is quite poor (just buy a cheaper hand soap), I also found the place was very grubby and our table was sticky and dirty. We are not snobby nor picky but we do expect an eatery to be cleaner than Greendays was on our last visit. Maybe we could of coped with what I have written about but what put us both off was an overbearing, loud woman sitting there discussing bin contracts with a bin company rep, if I never hear duty of care again it will be too soon, that's all she kept saying ,duty of care, duty of care. If you are going to have a meeting please do so in private , maybe upstairs where it was empty away from paying customers who have come to enjoy the great food and ambiance that Greendays once had. I am sorry to write this review as I know how hard it can be to own a café/restaurant but please take note of other unfavourable reviews and act upon their criticisms soon before other loyal customers choose not to return . From once loyal and happy customers Debbie and Ray.

I ate here for the first time today (have previiously been just for a brew). It's a quirky little place, so although I'm not a fan of mismatched crockery and twee cottage-shaped teapots, it all adds to the atmosphere here. We ordered two vegan BLTs at £5 each. We waited about 20 minutes for them, and when they arrived they were tiny - like the end of a french loaf had been used. Now, I'm aware that a lot of vegan food can be timely to prepare and some of the ingredients harder to source, so I'm always prepared to pay a bit extra for the effort that goes into it, but the 'bacon' on the BLT was in fact mushrooms cooked in specific seasoning and done to a crisp which makes them taste like bacon. And they did taste good, but I've done them myself at home so I know exactly what's involved - and it's definitely not £5 worth. What I was eating was a mushroom, tomato and lettuce sandwich (a tiny one at that) so for a fiver, I would have expected a proper sized sandwich or at least a bit of salad or some crisps with it…or…just make it £3.50! Finally - and I've seen this mentioned by other reviewers on Trip Advisor about Greendays, so you'd think the management would sort it out - the staff are miserable as sin and can barely muster a smile between them. All in all, when you consider the amount of competition on Lark Lane, I'm surprised that this place keeps getting good reviews - I was disappointed and definitely won't be bothering to go back.

This was our first visit. The good bit..buffalo cauliflower wings were really tasty. The bad bits: service could have been better and therr couls have been welcome or a smile at least. Dirty table which we ended up cleaning ourselves after the 1st attempt failed. We waited 30 mins gor food. No seitan strips.. Coffee was cold.. Butternut Squash and chilli soup was bland , lukewarm and did not taste fresh ( probably canned) Asked for water. The water jug had soap bubbles in it. At that point it was time to call it a day such a shame.. Will not be going back. Very disappointing...

Mum had one of those 'group on' voucher things for here in May and so we FINALLY got round to using today! Food was amazing - especially as I changed my decision about four times as everything sounded so nice I wanted to try it all! We had great service and we didn't mind waiting for our food as the guy running it had 'drafted in' his girlfriend's mother to help him as she wasn't well = her mum not 100% knowing 'set up' so was slower than normal girl, not a criticism - honest!! Food was fresh and had a variety of selection, also good :) the music with video's playing was also a nice touch :) Will deffinatley stop by again next time I'm in the area, thanks for a nice time :)

Return visit to this fab place, not just for the fab food and drinks but for the overall experience at Greendays. If my hubby and I lived closer to this fab little gem we would go every day ,and the reasons are 1,the food is just great, you get huge portions of gorgeous food.2, the fresh orange juice is to die for.3, the price, it is so so cheap for what you get in both quality and quantity. 4, the vibe is just so great, we feel like friends when we go to there, we are made very welcome not just by the owners and staff but even the other customers include us in on conversations. We cant fault a single thing and doubt we ever will. We thank you Greendays for doing what you do, please do not ever change anything. Cannot wait to return to try your vegan pancakes.

Had no idea this amazing place was here until mum found a 'group on' thing. Sadly mum and myself arrived too late to make use of the offer but a mum and her two twin girls (aged about 8) were tucking into the offer of 'breakfast for £3' (we arrived at 11.30) but didn't matter as there was plenty of things on offer. Plus as I'm a vegan it's a nightmare trying to find places to eat but here catered for me! Food was quick, hot and a massive portion! (ONLY Vegan/Veggie!) was really helpful that under the more 'unusual' dishes it explains what is in each! Such a well priced place as well, mum and myself were amazed! We will definitely be going back, thanks for a really nice first visit :)

Recently visited for the first time in a while, barely entered the building before encountering an incredibly rude and unwelcoming staff member making my daughter and I feel as though we were getting in the way. When it came to ordering the other staff member was much nicer but while we were talking the other guy came out of the kitchen and spoke to my 3yr old in a very stern manner saying “don’t touch the glass, I’ve spent hours cleaning that” and then disappeared back into the kitchen. The guy taking the order looked visibly embarrassed. The one good thing was that they forgot to charge us for most of our food! If you’re in the area do yourself a favour and go to Onion instead.

First time I've ever written a review but I had such a bad experience I thought I'd write this hoping some changes will be made. I used to come to green days once a week when I lived near lark lane and even travelled regularly when moved to Crosby. Now live in Manchester but when I look after my Nana I often bring her to Lark Lane. She's vegetarian. It used to be one of my favourite places to come for both food quality and atmosphere/service. Amazing quality for great prices. Its always been busy which often means waiting a little but that's absolutely fine. We went and sat upstairs as downstairs was full and waited for someone to come. After 10-15 mins I went downstairs to order as I wasn't sure whether they'd stopped doing table service since the management had changed. I ordered 2 sandwiches and water. Salad was £1 extra so I asked if we could have 1 salad on a separate plate so we could share it. The waiter immediately looked annoyed and said "yeah..I suppose" like it was a massive inconvenience. I asked if it was a problem and he said it wasn't. So went back upstairs and waited. After 20 mins water arrived. At 40 mins I went downstairs to ask how long approx the food would be, politely. I am not a rude person and would hate to think I'd upset anyone. The reply I got was so hostile and mean I was really taken aback. The waiter then went on a rant about how busy it was and carried on being extremely rude pointing out people who were also waiting for their food. I could see other customers looking shocked by his behaviour. It was really intimidating. I said I was leaving. The other waiter was nicer and I think he was trying to be make up for his colleague's appalling behaviour but it was too late. This whole thing could have been so easily avoided by explaining when we arrived that it was busy and would be a wait for food. Also should have apologised for long wait when I asked how long food would be. New management/waiters have a lot to earn - first of all need to drop their appaling arrogant attitude and make their customers feel welcome. What a shame.

I used to come in all the time but left it ages purely because id eaten everything on the menu twice. Anyway I came in a couple of weeks ago to see that Carol and Ronnie the old owners had sold it. I was a little apprehensive at first as some of the old classics were not on the menu as the new owner Terry is a vegan. Anyway I sat down and ordered the chimichanga which was absolutely gorgeous. The salad which also comes with it was second to none and I ate every bit of it. The next time I visited I ordered the special which is the quesadilla. I didn't think it possible but this was even nicer than the chimi. I also ordered the vegan breakfast another time and to be fair this wasn't for me. Don't get me wrong there was nothing wrong with it it was just not my first choice and I prefer a proper full english with all the meat (not an option here) I'm currently sat in here now and its crazy busy as its Saturday. The two lads are holding it together well and I got served very quickly. Even if your not vegan or veggie this place is lovely. The old owners would be proud and I'm pleased to say I eat here a couple of times a week now. Not to be missed people.

We have visited this cafe a few times but didn't realise it was under new ownership when we returned recently.Apparently the new owners have been in place for a year which only goes to show how quickly time flies. We both ordered a veggie breakfast and agreed that it was a much more manageable meal that it used to be. Not that there was anything wrong with it before but sometimes it was a lot to get through! The food was really tasty with two eggs, two sausages, beans, tomato, a potato cake and toast - and a vegan version was also available. Nice to be offered proper HP sauce too.The music being played was fantastic, so if you're looking for decent tunes, good veggie food and a relaxed atmosphere - look no further.

It took a bit of time for our food to be delivered but when it did arrive it was beautifully presented. To apologise for the wait we were offered a slice of vegan raspberry cheesecake. The food itself was fresh and delicious clearly sourcing top produce. At the end of our meal the free cheesecake materialised and was accompanied by an even more generous chunk of delicious walnut and coffee cake. The staff were good craic to match. I really like this cafe - it is one of those little hidden gems. It's a no-frills veggie/vegan cafe. It serves an awesome veggie or vegan breakfast, serves nice coffee, and has an array of cakes and deserts, which often change. There are also other items available on the menu. The atmosphere is very friendly, the owner is open to suggestions for new recipes etc, and there is always great music on the go, with the occasional live events. I've had vegan breakfasts all over the city, but I keep coming back to this one as it's the best. Great place to just meet up over a coffee too, with the upstairs space being quieter for meetings.

I had heard of this place on the vegan grapevine so decided to give it a try. From the outside and walking upstairs, it felt rather scruffy but I kept an open mind. Two of us seated ourselves at a small table in the tiny eating area and rather than coming over to welcome us and give us a menu/offer us a drink, etc., the two male staff members chose to shout across to each other and presumably a friend of theirs "Has Liverpool scored today?", etc.It wasn't a pleasant environment but I was hungry so decided to persevere. Until I looked over and saw that the loaves of bread were all laid out on a dirty table amid dishcloths and other general rubbish. This was when we stood up and left. Dirty and unprofessional - avoid.

I visited this wonderful place yesterday with a friend of mine who's from California. We were able to speak with the guy who runs and owns this establishment (Terry) who explained so much of what he wanted to achieve with his restaurant and I have to tell you, his Heart and Soul really is in the right place. To begin with - (and this is MASSIVELY the BIGGEST PLUS FOR ME!) - I was absolutely delighted to discover that there ISN'T a microwave anywhere within this restaurant and what's more, he has no intention of ever allowing one on the premises! I cannot tell you how ticked off I am, whenever I visit restaurants/eateries, only to discover that my food is being 'Nuked' behind the scenes, somewhere within the kitchen - Aaaaarrrggh! What on earth is the point of consuming food when it's had all of its nutrients and Energy, zapped out of it? (Google Kirlian Photographs taken of food, 'before and after' after being microwaved and you'll understand exactly what I mean)Another HUGE plus for me was to discover that he never uses Table Salt in any of his cooking or food preparation - and instead sticks to either Himalayan Salt or Sea Salt. (Serious 'Nutrition Aware' individuals will understand how big a deal this is.)The bread was beautiful and tasted fresh - and was sourced at a local bakery. I was very impressed with the menu - NOT a 'smoked salmon' sandwich or tuna dish in sight. See what I mean when I say that this is a 'Totally Authentic Vegetarian Establishment' - Can't tell you how many places claim to be this - but still offer fish? The Vegan choices are many - again, it's just wonderful to know that so much is on offer that's authentically vegan. Finally, I wasn't at all surprised to discover that Green Days Cafe has been awarded a Food Hygiene Rating of Five Stars by the UK Food Standards Agency. Terry's a really sincere guy and his Heart and Soul is truly in the right place when it comes to all the hard work and effort he's put into the Green Days Cafe and all that he talked about wanting to provide and achieve for his customers.I genuinely wish him all the very best for the future. I for one, will be recommending this wonderful 'Gem-of-a-Place' to everyone else whom I know to be authentic Veggies or Vegans.Good on yer Terry!

We both had full English breakfasts which were gorgeous and available as both vegetarian or vegan. The portions were big and the food lovely. The food was also reasonably good value. I'll start by saying that I've been going to Greendays for about 6 years. I've always loved the vibe of the place and, whilst not a veggie myself, loved the breakfast on a Saturday morning to start my weekend.A lot of people on here seem to be down on the lads who've taken over recently but, they've definitely breathed new life into the place for me. We hadn't been in for quite a while when we heard that it had been reopened, and decided to try it again. We've been 3 times since the refurb and the place looks great. The new feel of the place accentuates what made Greendays unique in a streamlined, but homely, style. Service is friendly, personal and quick - you are guaranteed a laugh if you're sat downstairs. Our food was piping hot and delicious. The potato cakes on breakfast (something I used to leave) are now hot, fluffy and tasty and the mushrooms' sauce adds a great quirk (and taste) to an exceptional breakfast. There's a passion for food and fun in Greendays now which is palpable; it will definitely be my Saturday morning treat again from now on. Give it a go - you won't regret it!

The atmosphere is nice and cozy, with a decent mix of people. I am aware that this has recently changed ownership, but it is what it is. We waited over an hour for food, and had to get up to alert staff we hadn't been served already. The food finally came, 4x vegan breakfasts, all mostly cold with elements that were approaching room temperature. Though the mushrooms had a noticeably nice flavour, overall it was such an anticlimax after such a long wait. We even had to go downstairs to ask for cutlery. I totally appreciate that it was very busy and the staff were very nice but overall I'm giving it 2 stars because of the atmosphere, and because I'm vegetarian, the food was real let down. We will leave it a while before I consider giving it another go.

This is a lovely caf, the refurb looks great, the staff are friendly. It's definitely worth a visit if you haven't been before. The problem for me personally is that I was a certified Greendays addict! And the main reason that it used to work so well before the changeover of management was that the regulars loved how cheap and cheerful it was (without any compromise in quality). Since the refurb the breakfast has gone downhill... the 4 slices of artisan bread have been replaced by 2 cheap white slices that go soggy, less beans, bland unseasoned mashed potato and a bizarre addition of a creamy onion sauce with the mushrooms (for breakfast?!) The extra egg was a treat but it was oily and we'd have preferred decent toast instead. I can cope with a few changes but the thing that really put us off was the charging for coffee on top. (I can understand that you'd have to charge for cappuccinos or lattes... but for filter coffee? That just seems mean). A new boss needs to make it his own, I can see that. I wish him all the best of course. I think it's great that he's trying out new things like having evening performances upstairs, it could become a bit of an arts base. But for us, it used to be like stepping into Cheers or something, we didn't need to order and Ronnie would treat us to a free tea/coffee top up because we'd been going weekly for so many years (and are good tippers!) We'd hoped that as the new manager had been coming along most Saturdays for the last year to learn the ropes that he'd have picked up on all of this.Beforehand our bill for 2 breakfasts, 2 drinks (and 2 refills) came to just over £11. For the same now, it'd be another fiver on top. That's too much of a price hike for us I'm afraid!

This was our favourite place to come for breakfast and lunch. We would eat here a few times a week. Since the cafe has been under new management, I'm sad to say that the quality and taste of the veggie breakfast has drastically changed for the worse. Our coffees arrived cold and didn't have cinnamon on like usual, the orange and lemon juices were over sweetened and watery. When it comes the food, the eggs were swimming in oil (maybe vegetable?), the toast was soggy and smeared in margarine as opposed to butter, the mushrooms were doused in margarine, the halloumi had been soaked in water and was completely tasteless (inedible) and we only received 1/4 of an avocado despite it being the same cost as before the takeover when we would have 1/2. It's a real shame and I'm not sure we will return again.

As my wife and I had not visited Greendays for several months, we thought that we would return for our first brunch with friends in the new year.We arrived to find the owner moving items out of the building and he explained that they were closed - he gave us his reasons, but as they were quite personal, I won't write them here. However, the cafe is set to reopen in the coming weeks by one of their staff who has taken on the lease - he believes that it will continue as a veggie/vegan cafe (I hope so). Although we are sorely disappointed for the current owners to leave (as they were part of the attraction), we will return and try it under the new owners - I review will come as soon as possible.

Now, I must clarify that I am not a vegetarian. I have gone to this cafe several times. Consistently offers nice cakes and foods in a very relaxed manner. The first time I went, I expected to feel out of place because people could possible "tell" that I wasn't vegetarian or didn't want to order or what I would like so I had a taste of their teas and cakes (yummy) then the next time I went I had their food (yumyum). The price was fair, and I felt good , healthy and wholesome when I left. This cafe has been there for years and they do maintain their quality and friendly attitude. It might not be a place for a fry up but it is perfect to feel that you have eaten well and healthily...even if it's just one day in the week,

Now that I've joined TripAdvisor, my first thought was to add to Greendays' write-ups. I feel crazy lucky that this is pretty much my local caf, and it's honestly one of the loveliest veggie cafés I've been to. The menu is simple, honest veggie fayre (aside from the much debated Inclusion of a tuna jacket on the menu) with lots of breakfast options, from full cooked, to pancakes, to granola with yoghurt, and meals like Jacket Potatoes, Toasties, and my new favourite the Parmigiana! The portions here are generous, but perfectly sized, not too big. Most meals are served with the best side salad I've ever had anywhere! - Fresh, crisp lettuce leaves, tomato, cucumber, and lots of fresh sliced fruit, melon, pineapple, strawberry, apple, drizzled with a good glut of extra virgin olive oil. The Parmigiana is very authentic, with the aubergine cooked until it is melting, drenched in olive oil and tomato sauce, with chewy mozzarella and parmesan. This is served with the fantastic salad, plus delicious locally-made caraway seed bread with thick butter, half an avocado, and a large dollop of sour cream! Absolutely my new favourite hangover cure on a weekend! The service is great, usually the same guy, one of the family owners, his attitude is breezy yet friendly, and he always seems to make us laugh, even unintentionally, like the time he put down his pad and pen mid order, to inform our visiting friends (Italians, with BIG appetites) quite gravely and loudly that they were ordering "waaaaaaayyy too much food!" Hahahaa! What with the personality of the service, the lovely laid-back artistic decor, and the incredible food, it really does feel like the Greendays guys are welcoming you into their home for dinner every time! Long may it continue! :-)

Great place for breakfast just off Lark Lane. Veggie only. Full vegetarian breakfast comes with a potato cake and its LARGE. Add some halloumi and some avocado to your order and you're done. Their bread is awesome too.The only way this could be made better is if they had an option for eggs to be poached and if they could get proper vegetarian sausages in (they use Linda McCartney ones).Otherwise its a win. - Oh yeah they have one of those boss fresh orange juice machines too :)

We visit the Greendays at least twice a month, if not more, for a late weekend breakfast... and we always have the same, one veggie breakfast without eggs and a vegan breakfast with hummus toast and a side of harissa. Yes, the cafe is rough around the edges and the owner can sometimes come off as (very slightly) rude, but the food, atmosphere and experience make this all pale into insignificance. The breakfasts are huge... no really, they are gigantic. The plates are literally overflowing and you will not leave hungry. The ingredients are very high quality, taste amazing and cooked to order so always hot. At £5.20(ish) which includes tea or coffee, you get so much for your money. Even if you're not a vegetarian, or vegan, please consider given the Greendays a try - their breakfasts beat any meat breakfast in Liverpool.

It's hilarious that Greendays has any bad reviews on here, as it's one of the nicest cafes in the city (and sadly one of the only vegetarian places left).Yes it's a bit eccentric but that is fully part of the charm. It's like going round an arty friend's house for breakfast, where they happen to be very good at cooking!Obviously I'm biased being a vegetarian, but there have been several occasions when I have brought ardent carnivore friends along who have enjoyed the food as much as me, and made a point of saying how they didn't miss the meat at all.Their breakfast is a benchmark for us - if while travelling around the country we find a great breakfast, it would be 'as good as greendays'. It's worth trying the vegan breakfast too...Not to mention chimichangas, soups, epic sandwiches, great coffee, great music, etc..... Highly recommended :)

I visited Greendays for the first time with my Sister. We're both veggies and really wanted to check it out. Tiny, tiny cafe!! Cute tho.I was really impressed with my meal - I went for the pizza style halloumi sandwich, which came with a lovely side salad, dressing, and some fruit. It was very well made and really tasty. My Sister got the falafel and wasn't overly excited by it. She doesn't get on with fruit very well either, which just meant more for me ;)We didn't have time for dessert, but they did look really nice and quite a few choices.I'd like to go back and give something else a go and maybe get some cake next time.Nice place, friendly staff, interesting foo (not something veggies get very often!), and a nice atmosphere.Just very, very small and you'd have to be careful about what time you go or you wouldn't get in. We went Monday lunch time and there were a few seats left. Can't imagine you'd get in for breaky on a weekend! It is also a member of the Liverpool Independent card and there are member discounts.

Green Days is a great little vegetarian cafe hidden away on Lark Lane and is a fantastic place to grab breakfast or lunch. Brunch too, by default! The atmosphere is very relaxed and it makes it a great chill-out spot. It can get quite busy numbers-wise though so don't come here if you're in a hurry. If you did so, it'd probably kill the mood anyway! The idea is to kick back, read the paper, have a coffee and enjoy some great, tasty, food. The menu features vegetarian and vegan soups, sandwiches, salads, etc... it's all delicious too. What REALLY interests me the most, though, is the breakfasts. They do fantastic pancakes, fried breakfasts, yoghurt with oats and honey... I could go on and on. Everything I've had as been excellent indeed. The drinks are cheap and very tasty too. The coffee was just great, I'm a sucker for a nice coffee. Also couldn't fault the fresh orange juice! The decor is another winning feature - everything is a bit retro, worn, used. The plates are mismatched, there are paintings all over the walls and jazz tunes play in the background. It suits the mission of this place perfectly.Green Days is an excellent place to spend your time and money. It's a shining of example of an exceptional local business that is worth supporting.

This place does the best cooked breakfasts in Liverpool. Even my meat-eating friends agree! From the home-made potato cake to the seeded Rye bread toast with proper butter, it's excellent. Seriously, go and try it, you won't be disappointed. Their Continental Breakfast is also very good, a huge colourful plate full of cheeses, breads and fruits. Delightful. As well as the brekkies, I also recommend the Chimichangas, the Paninis and the Falafels. Oh, and make sure to save room for cake! What sets Greendays apart from other cafes is the extra bit of effort they put into what could otherwise be the simplest of dishes. Each plate of food looks like a work of art. A generously portioned work of art. The staff are lovely and very welcoming. There is an eclectic selection of music, which is never too loud but sets just the right ambience. There is some downright bizarre artwork and bits and bobs on the walls and shelves. It's quirky, bohemian, and always a pleasure to visit.Oh, and if you get a table by the window overlooking Lark Lane,it's perfect for people-watching.

Being on the corner of Little Parkfield and Lark Lane, Greendays is not the most visible place on the lane but it's easily its best cafe. There are great views of the lane from both of the floors of this cafe, and is the brightest and best place to sit on a sunny day. The menu ranges from vegetarian and continental breakfasts to chimichangas and other great specials that are frequently available. As a meat eater I can also vouch the vegetarian breakfast is not only the best on Lark Lane it's also one of the best you can get in Liverpool due to the little touches such as the toast made from Hungarian rye bread and the optional addition of harissa and the perfectly cooked potato cake that make all the difference. The owners also have excellent and eclectic taste in music.

A fiver for artisan toast lathered with butter, 2 Linda sausages, fried egg on chunky creamy mash, Branston beans, mushrooms, tomato AND free refills of tea or freshly-ground filter coffee???! No need for lunch after that. Bargain. It's not easy to spot, round the corner from the end of Lark Lane and only a small door leading up to the first and second floor... but still packed with regulars who know they're onto a good thing. My wife and I have been for breakfast at Greendays, 4 times.3 out of the 4 times, 50% of the food on the plate was just warm the other 50% was stone cold and served on stone cold plates, the beans seemed as though they had just been spooned out of a tin and thrown on the plate. If we have a bad experience in a restaurant we always give it another go( anyone can have a bad day) but enough is enough. Its obvious that the food is cold when it arrives, we get the impresion that the guy who serves on, is reluctant to tell the cook(is it his wife!!!) to actually turn the cooker on. The Breakfast at least really is rubbish. Why don't we just complain you may ask(were English for Gods sake, we just don't do that)Won't be going back.
