Stopped in for lunch after a trip to the museum. Food was fresh and delicious, and servings were huge. As a vegan I paired the salad with garlic bread, and it was so delicious. The salad was loaded with perfectly ripe avocado and fresh greens. I also had a slice of vegan chocolate cake. The portion was very good, and the cake wasn't cloying sweet. Highly recommend!

Guess it was one of those times that a well rated cafe didn't perform. My wife's food came 10 to 15 minutes after mind. Staff said it was due to how long it takes to heat up the frying oil, missing the point. When they came, the cheesy chips were bland. Smallest slice of chocolate cake I have ever been served. Again, when challenged, the staff, including the manager, it wasn't their fault. As if they were not responsible for what was served. I suspect that a lot of this is " kitchen- centric" thinking rather than " customer- centric". Sorry for this negative review, but the experience has meant that we most certainly will not be back. -------------------------------------------------- After owner/manger's reply (sorry but cannot see how to other reply) Thank you for the time to sit down and compose your response. It would be far better to sit down and chat on person about this, but that won't happen. Where I work in the hotel and hospitality trade, we ask guests to raise issues with us when they happen so they can be sorted then and there - which is impossible a week or so later. We did raise the issues but little dialogue happened afterwards apart from the offer of a substitute desert. My wife and I did leave your place feeling very disappointed, which I am sure we all regret. I do not want to quibble about details: he said, she said... However, please be assured that about one-third of the bowl of chips was not eaten. It was the first thing my wife, who had been ill, had eaten that day and I wanted her to at least eat something for her health's sake. I was just glad that she had eaten something. "Kitchen-centric" in my clumsy way is an attempt to refer to thought processes that focus on how the food/drink is delivered and not on how the customer receives them. In this case, a member of staff seems to work through the items ordered one at a time: croissant served first, then 10/15 minutes later the cheesy chips. Customer-centric is “How would the customers who have come in together like to have their food served?” We were not asked about his or informed of the delay – I had to leave my seat to ask the three members of staff about this. Finally, you say you are sad that I “felt a need to leave such a negative review on a small independent business”. I agree and I apologised for doing so in my review – but which would you prefer: people walking away without comment and never coming back or people being honest with you about their experiences, entering into dialogue, maybe accepting criticism back, and giving you a chance “to take on board” our feedback – however uncomfortable for all of us.

Plenty of choice for very tasty cakes and pastries. Lots of outdoor space with childrens play area and very pleasant staff. Nice new patio with a roof to sit out and have cover in wet weather. We went on a Friday afternoon and the chip van turned up. So good to go and collect your evening or eat in the garden on a nice evening.

We found this place when exploring Duxford village the morning of our departure and decided to have breakfast here. We were unsure what to expect upon entering, but were thoroughly impressed by both the food and service. Menu options were varied and interesting and clearly prepared fresh. The food itself was fantastic, and I would recommend anybody visiting the area to stop here for breakfast for lunch. I won’t pass comment on the price, purely because I’m a Northerner, and every price tag South of Peterborough seems steep to me. However I will say that I was happy to paid what I did for the quality of the breakfast I had. The cakes and tray bakes on offer also looked sublime, but sadly I was so full I didn’t wind up buying one. I didn’t frequent the toilets here, but given the general cleanliness and appearance of the place, I wouldn’t have any concerns of the state of the loos. Staff were very friendly, polite, attentive, etc. Would love to visit this place again, if I’m ever in the area.

This was a great find, a few minutes off the A11, M11. It is a really clean place with a great range of cakes made by the owners, who are very nice and serious about providing excellent service. The coffee was very good, too. With its own car park, outdoor and indoor seating, a play area for kids and a lawn out back, it is a perfect place to stop on a long journey. I'm going to be visiting again next time we're traveling that way. Just watch the opening hours, though. At the time of writing this (May 2023), they are only open Thursday to Sunday each week.

I was really pleased when this cafe opened in the village but have given up going there. Some of the younger staff members have a real attitude problem if the owner is not around. Everything is too much bother for them. And a friendly smile is usually met with a stoney glare. I cant think of another cafe where I am made to feel so unwelcome over and again. A real shame. Dr Kneissl ADDENDUM Today neither member of staff had a mask on actually. (At least I think there were 2. Neither responded to my hello or asked to help so I dont quite know). But I see the defensiveness of your response and will not set foot in Graystones again. I have seen a friendly gentleman who mentioned he was the owner but i would not know how to contact him nor im afraid do i have the time to right now. Reviewers should not be required to contact owners prior to review. I would usually applaud an employer that supports their staff - but not in this case. I see now why the staff feel it is ok to behave the way they do. Attitudes always come from the top. I have eaten in Michelin starred restaurants and they would also get a 1 star rating from me if they were as unwelcoming and unfriendly as Graystones. I will continue to go to the hugely successful Cafe 19 - like everyone else. DR KNEISSL I am not on Facebook or any other social media. I have gone to Graystones less and less over the years you have been open because the staff usually display an attitude that I could best describe as bored teenager who doesnt want to be there. If other peoples experiences are better then that is great. My own experiences have not been so positive and my review is a cumulative review. And I think it is a great shame. I wanted it to be a great place to go in the village.

This is such a lovely cafe and offers so much more! I was so happy when it started doing takeaway options during lock down. Popping down to get a coffee or a cake became a real reason to leave the house. It has really shown that the key to success is the ability to adapt. The takeaway pizzas are awesome as are the milkshakes! The ability to order meat in from mill road butchers to collect from here is also really handy especially for the older folk in the village who don’t drive.

I have been here twice now, first time for lunch (the pizza and Italian salad were both amazing!) and second time for coffee and cake. The second time with my young baby and a friend, I was there on the day that Ms Roux was in Graystones and couldn't believe the way she spoke to the staff, it took a lot for me to not defend the staff at the time, the fact she has edited her review to have the last word also speaks volumes. It's sad that people think they can treat small businesses with such disrespect. I've met the staff and they are always very helpful, the manager and manageress always take the time to speak to my young daughter. Graystones has loads of parking, very family friendly, kids play area out the back and a great selection of tasty cakes and good food. We will be back before Christmas!

VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. I don't normally write reviews unless I have something good to say, but after my latest experience at Graystones, I feel compelled to complain about their poor attitude towards their customers. We were so excited when we heard there was a coffee shop opening in the village and to be able to support it. Unfortunately we have visited there less and less since then and now may never return. One could initially forgive them for their food being just adequate or below par, based on teething problems and their being new to running this particular kind of business and in the hope that they would improve. The staff are young and inexperienced and appear not to have had any training. And certain members of staff (not all of them) have over a period of time displayed a strangely self important, rude and argumentative attitude if you point out when things aren't right. Today for lunch, my mother ordered a soup and I ordered a Tuna Cheese melt. I checked that it was toasted and asked for it to be extra crisply toasted. When it arrived my Mum's soup was lukewarm to cold and my "bready" ciabatta had been cut in half, only very lightly toasted in a toaster and the tuna mayonnaise had clearly come straight out of the fridge and was also cold. There was melted cheese on top of the cold tuna mayonnaise. When I pointed this out to the manageress, she was blatantly rude and dismissive saying that the tuna is always cold and that they'd never had a complaint before. She flounced off with it as though I'd been unreasonable in asking that it be warmed. It was brought back by a man, who I now understand to be the owner, who almost tossed my plate back on the table with a scowl and turned to walk off, visibly angry. When we said that my Mum's soup was also cold he got angrier. There was no interest in our being happy with our meal or apology from him or his manageress and I now believe their staffs attitude to be influenced by his own peculiar attitude towards their customers. I empathise with small business owners and hope that this complaint helps them reassess their attitude and increase the respect they show to their customers. LATER RESPONSE TO OWNERS RESPONSE I'm afraid your further total lack of apology speaks volumes. For the record, I did not enjoy the brownie, which was dry and not at all chocolatey. And my Mother says you should be ashamed of yourself for twisting her words so.

Came to this small village to see the church--got hungry, wet and chilled on a wet, miserable grey day, when this bright, cheerful, cosy cafe appeared like an enticing mirage and warm shelter from the rain. With multiple food sensitivities (dairy, gluten, nightshades to start), I am usually lucky to find anything to eat, let alone something nice. The supremely helpful staff took the allergies in stride, were eager to make me something nice, and consulted in detail about ingredients. The resulting sirloin steak salad was heavenly, steak pefectly cooked from top-quality meat from local butcher, East Anglian beef--the tastiest, most tender beef i've had in a long time, with gorgeous velvetly e-v olive oil. Tea Pigs green tea, another plus. They serve breakfast til 11.45 and lunch til 3.30, and very good wifi. Worth a diversion; what a great find!

To sum it up the waiter don't smile - is very rude and she have ruined the experience for us and I would not go there again. Good food from cakes to scotch eggs; space and nice pictures; friendly and welcoming staff and a bit of a deli on the side. Gray stones had everything a village needs for good community feeling and is as important as the pub. We were visiting but made very welcome. I wanted to take the cafe home!

A great place for a coffee or a bite to eat, friendly staff in the week but new weekend staff are not on the ball at all but the pizza on its own more than makes up for these shortcomings, it is absolutely the best pizza for many miles around and is as close to going all the way to italy for one as you can get.

the waiters are sweet if a little immature and the food is pretty good and nice and fairly fast, it is a cute little place that gives back to the community; it's nice atmosphere allows people to enjoy the food inside and outside, but the cold weather made for a little chilly but manageable, the few Christmas decorations were not quite enough for me but they were cute none the less.

My partner & I visited Graystones this morning, stumbling upon it when we pulled off the M11 looking for a late breakfast. Wedged into an almost picturesque village, in the shadow of St Peters Church, we were delighted to find a cafe serving vegan breakfasts! Plentiful & free parking at the back and spacious inside. My partner enjoyed his full English, with tasty sausages and tangy veg medley. My vegan breakfast - smashed avocado, beans, veggie medley, toast etc was one of the best I’ve had. But there were downsides. The place was very cold - a chill not lifted by the heater under the table. And they service was almost as frosty. We asked to have one coffee replaced because it arrived with dried on coffee drips down the mug but the server simply said that the marks where because the machine sprayed a bit. So the same mug came back to the table. The coffee was too weak - my black coffee was undrinkable. They did take the coffees off the bill when we returned them but the waitress gruffly told us that if we wanted stronger coffee we shouldn’t have ordered large. Great to have a cafe like this in a small village but too many things wrong to tempt us back.

Nice coffee shop based in an old pub. Usually plenty of parking at the rear. This is an attractive place to sit. Coffee is good as is the food. A bit on the expensive side but not so much that it is unreasonable. I will return.

Having just landed at the airport we googled a cafe nearby and found Graystones. What a lovely cafe. Real homecooked food, was worth waiting an extra bit of time to have freshly cooked food that tasted great too. Fine friendly service. Kids menu too. Very clean throughout.

Fantastic village pub with a great garden and added bonus of an outside bar that also does the best cocktails at a great price. Happy hour 3 till 7 Mon to Fri is a bonus when you finish work and fancy a beer. Great atmosphere and the staff are very happy and helpful. Leon's food is delicious 😋
