Goulash in Aberdeen City

Lovely atmosphere and lovely food! Always looking to try new food and I'd certainly come back here to try some other menu items. Would recommend reserving a table as it's relatively small, which gives it a cozy atmosphere. Had a great time!

Impressive hidden gem snuck out of the way from the main centre. Unassuming, really great quality authentic Hungarian food. Made me a mocktail as I wasn't able to have any alcohol. Very accommodating. Extremely generous portions.

I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious, with rich and authentic flavors. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making the atmosphere warm and inviting. The ambiance perfectly captured the charm of a traditional Hungarian restaurant. Everything, from the service to the setting, was excellent. Highly recommended!

We loved the place! Excellent service and the food was delicious. We shared two dishes and cleaned the plates. A definite must if you are in Aberdeen.

Loved it. Strange little place, it reminds me of a Georgian restaurant we went to in Bratislava. Like walking into someone's dining room. Had the 'wooden platter' and it was very tasty. We'll be back.

Found this gem at the back of Adelphi and sure glad I did! I've never had anything like it, the food all had so much flavour and served in generous portions. Carpathian Borzaska one of the best things I've ever eaten 👌🏻 The restaurant has a warm cosy atmosphere with music to match, the hosts are delightful and made us feel most welcome. Definitely a great choice for a date night, will be a regular here for sure 🙂

The meatballs with blueberry jam and the goulash were very good. The plates they were served on had a beautiful floral pattern, which I assume is traditionally Hungarian. Some say the restaurant is small but I like small and I found the restaurant to be cozy, overall. The waitstaff were very kind.

We couldn't really find this restaurant at first, we had to ask around. When we finally arrived, we were the only guests, which I can't understand at all, because this location with its super friendly operators not only exudes an authentic ambience, but also offers an honest Hungarian menu. All food and drinks were excellent. The wine, the absolutely convincing Palinka, the goulash, the dessert and the coffee convinced us. But the best thing of all was the human warmth that the operators exuded. We felt at home, like in the living room. A visit is really recommended!

Absolutely amaizing experience, we just left Goulash and we loved all our dishes , the goulash soup and beef stew were delicious. If I could I would give more than 5*. The couple who served us made us very comfortable. Gentelman give our son pencils to colour in and our boy was amazed how tasty were their Mocktajls (so much he had 2 lol )Lady was all cheerful and very friendly , place is very clean and cosy. We will be back again when we in Aberdeen. Loved it.

initially told 45 mins delivery - fair enough. then told its on the way after 25 mins, so though great, it will be early, after 50 mins used the app to chase it and sent text saying 10 mins. finally arrived 30 mins later than expected. no clear apology. food was warm and edible but nothing to get excited about

Had dinner at Goulash last night with my partner while visiting Aberdeen on the basis of a recommendation. It did not disappoint and the food was excellent. Top notch ingredients and really well flavoured. Generous portions so go hungry! The experience was rustic but authentic as this was like restaurants I’ve visited in Hungary and transcarpathian Ukraine.

My partner and I went here on a Saturday night for dinner and it did not disappoint !! I have never tried Hungarian food so was unsure what to expect but the food was honestly lovely, so tasty, the meat was succulent and full of flavour and the chicken was beautiful! We had mozzarella sticks and the meat strudel to start with and then our mains were; traditional beef goulash stew and the carpathian borzaska. The family who run the restaurant are lovely and gave us a warm welcome ! We will definitely be back here for food!!

What a gem , as a Hungarian I know what is Hungarian food and how is Hungarian restaurant, to be honest I felt in this restaurant like in Hungary, the staff are friendly, not faken it just naturally friendly people , I just can’t believe I found a little Hungary somewhere in north Scotland, with home Made Hungarian food , really recommend it ,

Came here just out of curiosity…. And did not get disappointed, …. To the opposite! Very warm and caring place with amazing Ungarin food. Don‘t miss it when in Aberdeen!

We loved this place. The goulash was just what we needed after a cold day out. We thought it was reasonably priced for a bowl of tasty meat, vegetable and broth. Will totally recommend the goulash to everyone!

The food was piping hot and absolutely delicious. It was well presented, and the delivery driver was lovely. Very good experience.

Good food if not exciting. Everything was well prepared. I do think that I got fries instead of the expected potatoes as an error. You must walk down an alley that was full of sketchy looking people when we were arriving. The restaurant is plain. Our waiter was very sweet but some minimal English. This just added to the authenticity. We enjoyed our visit and would definitely go again.

This is a fabulous small family run restaurant. It is centrally located off of Union St, but hidden from the street. The food was fabulous! So much so that we thought about going back the following night for dinner. I highly recommend visiting them!

twice i have ordered the pickled salad £6 and got a small amount of cucumber with sour cream, so £12 for one third of a cucumber... not too happy, otherwise food is amazing

Wanted to eat quickly ahead of a show and found Goulash by chance. This tiny hungarian restaurant was quirky, the staff were friendly and the food was excellent. Great value for money, enjoyable experience, and we made it to the show in time! Looking forward to going back.

Absolutely fantastic! Possibly the only Hungarian restaurant in Scotland. The main reason why I keep travelling to Aberdeen from Glasgow every now and then!

Ordered for delivery! Pork snitzel not bad but definitely nothing special and I def have had by far better ones! Goulash was also disappointing as it was not fresh ! The beef was very tender and pasta homemade and tasty but the soup was very very watery and a lot of oil on top! Good portions though size wise! I am afraid I do not recommend and not going back

Comfort food and friendly service! Walked in relatively early on a Thursday and the place was unfortunately empty apart from me but from messages around the place I get the impression it can be quite lively. Food-wise, it's important to understand that Goulash is very much comfort food with good use of spices rather than fine dining or very exotic food. You will almost definitely be confronted with lots of meat, potatoes and tasty sauces. Just what you need on a dreich day. I got the meat pancakes, Carpathian Borzaska and Hazelnut Puree and would happily recommend all three but portions are generous so bring an appetite. The server was super friendly and knowledgeable, very keen to make recommendations so don't worry about being unfamiliar with the food. Definitely worth a visit!

I first came here twenty years ago; it was very good to be back. I had an excellent supper which was good value. Beware the the Hungarian Hot Paprika is indeed hot, so use it sparingly! Very good and friendly service. I will definitely be back.

Was a bit nervous on arrival as the restaurant was empty (it is tucked away in a back street). That said, service was good but the food was outstanding. Of course, i had the goulash and it did not disappoint at all. Also tried the chicken paprikash which was also exceptional.

Just an ok restaurant, nothing special, and maybe a little overpriced. Cheesy music kinda let the atmosphere down a bit, and the staff talking loudly and carrying on in the kitchen for the whole time we were there didn't help. The waitress gave me some weird attitude when I ordered the steak dish medium-rare, saying "this isn't a steakhouse, we only serve it well done". I said that's fine, I'm happy to try it your way if that's how it's done in Hungary, and when they brought it out, it was medium done anyway. Strange....but it was decent. Nothing special, but decent. My girlfriend ordered the goulash, and it was not really worth the price in my opinion. Kinda dry compared to others I've tried, though the flavour was ok. The pasta that came with it was just so so. After paying the bill we waited 15 minutes for my change, and in the end had to go and ask for it because the staff were too busy sitting in the kitchen and talking loudly. All up, a little pricey for what it is, and quite average service. I wouldn't say it's bad, but I wouldn't rave about the place either.

Unfortunately the Carpathian Borzaska was burnt this time round , everything else was spot on

Amazing food, great service and nice atmosphere. We walked in and for my partner it was like going back home. The dinning area has its charm with traditional items. The people working there are so welcome and the food felt like home-cooked. The gypsy stake and the goulash with traditional pasta left us hoping we could have eaten more.

Would definitely recommend this spot for someone looking to switch it up one night for dinner. They have a pretty large menu and assortment of Hungarian drinks (Dreher in particular). The goulash was amazing. We even got a free shot of Palinka! The staff was super nice and you could tell it was family owned. Will be coming back next time we’re in Aberdeen!

Nice friendly place to eat. Service was good. Menu choices were all available. Food was tasty, freshly prepared and homely. Felt like we were guests in someone's house. A pleasant experience all round.

Basic fare, and the advertised "sauté potatoes" were frozen chips.

The "sauté potatoes" turned out to be frozen chips. Disappointing, and has put me off ordering again from Goulash.

The food was great--I highly recommend the beef strudel. Our server was friendly and very patient with our questions. We really enjoyed the goulash, which is good, given what the restaurant is called. The atmosphere was really homey and comfortable, and there's lots of Hungarian memorabilia to pique your interest in the culture and the place. The only negative was how cold it was in the restaurant. We were seated right by the front door, which sometimes had trouble closing, and we were freezing for as long as we were there. I ordered coffee just to try to warm up, but we left very quickly after finishing to go get somewhere warm.

The food was great, great to try something different amongst all the similar restaurants in the city. Would definitely visit again.

Excellent service every time, never any issues and really good food

This isn't a posh modern restaurant BUT it's an authentic Hungarian place to eat. The decor is basic however there is traditional Hungarian fare to be eaten. Good choice of options. Big portions & friendly patron made this a really enjoyable eating place. 3 courses for 2 people including drinks at £55 was a great deal. We will be back to eat here again

As a local of Aberdeen I felt I had to make the following statement to help visitors to our city make a choice. We always choose Goulash when we are looking for value and quality. Family owned and it shows.

We had seen the Tripadvisor reviews and Goulash has a good reputation, so we were looking forward to going. We were disappointed, though. A dated interior, hardly any customers and extremely cold set the tone. The starter of salamis and cheese was quite poor. Mains...

In Aberdeen for the weekend and my friend finds a Hungarian restaurant from his phone. As I'm half Hungarian it was an easy choice, and oh so worth it. Friendly service, lovely familiar food (the rabbit paprikash was delicious) and a cosy atmosphere. Couldn't believe...

My only complaint is that there is not wnough gravy with the goulash … it gets soaked into the pasta and you lose a lot of the flavour this way … and only enough gravy for about half of the pasta … apart from that food is delicious … i would Only order the goulash again though if they gave a bit more gravy

Have wanted to try Goulash for ages due to all the good reviews. Suffice to say, we were not disappointed! The food (and service) was excellent. The beef goulash was delicious, well seasoned and tender. The onion soup was out of this world, so fresh and flavoursome. The pancake of hortobagyi, which we have never even heard of before, was also mind-blowingly good. You can really tell that these guys know what they are doing and are very professional. There is real love in their cooking, and you can taste it. I can’t wait to try more dishes in the future. The portion sizes and price are also incredibly reasonable for the quality. Thank you very much guys!
