Golmok Korean Restaurant in Gravesham

A bijou Korean cafe/diner that is friendly, welcoming and authentic. While some people might want bougie décor, for me, the chef and host welcoming you in and making you feel comfortable outweighs any need for any need for sophistication in my surroundings. Simple tastes done well. The bulgogi brought me back instantly to growing up in southeast Asia and the Korean family in the estate and eating at their house. Definitely worth coming to Gravesend for

Fantastic food, lovely flavours, Polite Chef, Very Rude Owner!! Food was fantastic, full of different flavours, each dish was different. Chef was polite and had great people skills. I’m rating my experience as very poor due to the rude behaviour of the Owner, and this rating is no reflection on the Chef or how she was with me over the phone. I wanted to try this Korean food for my Son’s Birthday. I called the Restaurant to place the order over the phone and was kindly told they only take via the website. I don’t place orders online, so this was the first time for me, it took me over 10mins to check which dish, add to cart, etc. total meal came to £79 for the 4 of us, but it took a while to process after I put my card details in, so I got my Son to check, he said it was processing and to wait. Once it went through, it charged my card £93.20, I was shocked at this so called the restaurant, spoke with the Chef. The Chef explained it was the VAT that got charged at the end, I explained that it should have been included in the cost of each dish, so I knew and would not be alarmed at the end result as it was a huge amount to add on after the £79 that the food came to. The Chef offered a refund and a chance for me to speak with the Owner and that she would ask the Owner to call me. The Owner called me, was very rude on the phone, would not let me speak, spoke over me, told me I would not get a refund for 3 days, and questioned me if I use Uber Eats and Deliveroo, to which I managed to get in that I didn’t, and asked him to let me speak and that I didn’t want an argument. He raised his voice at me and said he was not going to let me speak!! He hung up!! I called back twice on the mobile he called from, he didn’t answer the call. I then called the restaurant and spoke to the Chef, explained how rude the Owner had been and would not let me speak and that this was no way to treat customers and definitely not a good first impression. The Chef apologised on behalf of the Owner and stated she was happy to still proceed in making the order for me.. The food arrived, delivered by a lovely polite young Lady. The food tasted fantastic and I even called the Restaurant back to compliment the Chef on her food. The Owner should reflect on his behaviour and how he comes across to Customers and should definitely appreciate his Staff, as it’s because of their good personal skills that Customers will return and not because of his disgusting rude behaviour! If you are to charge VAT, then this must be reflected in your dishes prior to check out or clearly displayed on your website that VAT will be charged at checkout, so Customers can decide if they want to proceed with the order or not

Staffs are polite. Food were okay. Big portion, bibimbap was good, tofu soup with rice is okay. Ordered a chicken side too and it was okay. The very odd thing is we’ve got charged the food price on the menu and then on top of that 20% VAT. So for about £31 of food we paid about £37 for the two of us which is quite pricey. And there have no sign mentioning about that at all. The food menu doesn’t indicate what’s in the food for allergies as well which should be illegal years ago…?

The best Bibimbap I had so far. Compared to any London Korean restaurant this is by far top on the list. Freshly made kimchi and delicate tea. Very friendly staff! Might be a long drive from London but this is the go to place now. Thank you Golmok Korean Kitchen!

The best I've had so far. I came on a Monday evening about 8pm ish. I was sooo surprised to see it was empty! I came from London to have a quiet trip out to Sevenoaks and from there, travelled the 30mins by car to Golmok. Its no exaggeration that I say its the best because in London, Korean cuisine is more accessible. At Golmok it was like you're being fed like you was a friend or family visiting their house. I would definitely love to revisit this place again if I had the chance.

Having never tried korean before (but watched lots of k dramas) I really wanted to have the experience in this cuisine. Wow they didn't disappoint. Very welcoming and was happy to talk through the menu. Having ordered a takeaway, put my favourite k drama on Netflix and ate away. It was a taste explosion. I was so excited to finally eat authentic korean food. A great luch that was so filling . Thank you for my new favourite food. 😍

Came here for a birthday meal with friends after seeing such good reviews. This unassuming restaurant in Gravesend was a hidden gem. The Server explained the menu to us- helped by photos on the wall. We were served freshly cooked delicious food. We took our own alcoholic drinks- and were provided glasses and bottle openers. The service is unhurried and relaxed. Metal chopsticks and spoons are the supplied cutlery. The food was delicious. I would highly recommend if you want a change from Chinese/Indian.

Fantastic food, place is a little basic though but the owner is very friendly. They don't sell alcohol but allow you to bring your own and will provide glasses etc. Highly recommend.

Despite its modest and unpretentious decor, I was blown away by the authenticity and quality of the food. The staff were super friendly and cooked everything on the spot, the sizzle and scents coming from the kitchen making you want to try the whole menu. If i lived closer i would eat here every week!

Sweetest owners ever, super social and considerate!! Im a muslima and had jajangmyeon and normally it’s with pork, they made it with beef for me. Food is all made fresh and really delicious, very full after sharing only 4 dishes already. Definitely recommend this spot if u want some good delicious authentic korean food

Delicious, authentic, wholesome cuisine! Hubby and I savoured every mouthful. Hard to find parking around the area though and not much seating capacity. If you move to Bluewater, your business would definitely thrive!

We thoroughly enjoyed our udon noodles takeaway. I had chicken and my husband had beef. The food was very tasty and high quality, well presented and we will be returning again. Next time we will dine in. For a takeaway, the food was exceptionally good!

A beautiful little resteraunt. There are plenty of car parks in the area with a short walk to the resteraunt. The food is beautifully cooked and delicious. The Kimchi was perfect. I would definitely recommend and I will definitely be visiting in the future. Thank you.

Very kind and helpful owners. Great service and a perfect Korean 100% fresh experience. Homemade kimchi ( 6 months process), tasteful glass noodles, the cheese corn dish has a taste to remember, the beef sushi is also amazing and one of my favorite which brings me back all the time, bim bim bam with fresh vegetables as well. There is nothing keeping you back from visiting this place, even on delivery you’ll get a nice experience, but highly recommended to visit. Thank you for keeping high standards of your traditional kitchen which is hard to find. 11/10 👏👏👏

Small restaurant, one waiter, one chef but friendly staff and delicious food. Chicken bibimbap was served in a hot stone bowl. Fresh and delicious. Also recommend the Dakgangjeong - korean boneless chicken with homeade sauce, although this is a side to share, as lots of chicken in a tasty sweet sticky sauce. Definitely recommend trying.

I've been here twice now in a week, first with my daughter and then with my friend. The food at this place is absolutely, without doubt, some of the best food I've ever tasted.. not just the best korean food, but the best food full stop. Ordered form just eat. Spicy kimchi jjigae was delicious, and the rice must have been cooked in a rice cooker because it was perfection. Yummy yummy. Could be a little spicier but understand it is catered to the average British pallet

Small restaurant with friendly staff and good Korean food. Good options for veggies people, lovely homemade kimchi (wished I had bought some to take away), good hotstone bibimbap and tofu dishes. Surprise find on a day trip out. Would definitely return. Only wished they had kimchi pancake😀

Found this gem of a restaurant today - wish we'd found it sooner. The staff so very friendly - offering us a lovely cup of tea while we waited for other members of the family. Very clean with hand sanitiser on the table. The food was absolutely delicious and freshly cooked to order. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend and we will definitely be back.

The restaurant area is clean and spacious despite it being small, there is plenty of room. The staff are really friendly and helpful. The food is freshly cooked, tastes absolutely amazing and is well priced. We will definitely be back soon.

Amazing food great service and good price

Very unprofessional. They accepted our deliveroo order, charged money, and then closed their restaurant without cancelling the order. We waited for our order for more than an hour and had to drive to this restaurant only to find out that it was closed.

The jajangmyeon noodles sauce was slightly lacking in flavour unfortunately but the beef in it was delicious, I can’t help but think it’s also maybe my own taste preference as to why I didn’t enjoy it. But was a really big portion I only ate half so that makes up for the prices being higher as my meal came to £18 for one main and a side. The corndog was great and had lots of stringy mozzarella and was still crunchy after being delivered. I’m really intrigued with trying more Korean food but I wouldn’t have the noodles again. Hope a small business like this does well!

Ordered a Vege Udon via Just Eat. When it arrived it tasted strongly of fish, despite being marketed as a Vegetarian dish. No allergy markers on the menus. Wouldn't give a refund?! Edit: Restaurant reply wasn't helpful. Why phone the restaurant first? The whole point of using an app is you don't have to call up. Your responsibility if you advertise on Just Eat, particularly on a dish that shouldn't contain seafood, is to indicate any allergy information, which you have not done.

Delicious food and good potion sizes. Forgot my rice and couldn't deliver a replacement, but the rest of the food was perfect. The kimchi Jjigae is wonderful.

had a takeaway order, delivered quickly but the food didn’t taste very nice. the chicken was just salty, no other flavour. there was also very little sauce and so the rice underneath was completely dry. the tteok bokki was a big portion but there was too much sauce it was like soup. it’s unfortunate as i really wanted to like the food but it wasn’t good and most of it went in the bin :(

I am a young man on a working holiday in the UK. I grew up in Jeolla-do and went to college in Seoul, and this place serves Korean food that tastes better than anything sold in Korea. It was ridiculous...haha. Korean restaurants in London also need to come here and learn. Definitely go. There is no place like this. I definitely visit once a week. The stone pot bibimbap and dumpling soup are truly the best. A taste that makes all thoughts of returning to Korea disappear. This is Korea. Amazing home cooked Korean food at a reasonable price. Have been back 3 times since my friend introduced me to the place last month. If you haven't eaten alot of Korean before, the menu can be a little difficult to understand, but there are pictures with corresponding numbers on the wall to help. Staff are also friendly and can help. Would recommend the Udon noodles and the Bibimbap (a very hot bowl with rice, chicken, veg and a fried egg on top which you mix and cook in the bowl).

the lady was very nice and even though the chicken is not halal, there’s a good variety of other meat free options for me 🥰 generous portion and yummy food 😁

Never eaten Korean before, no idea about any of the food. The lovely lady took our order and explained what everything was. The food was amazing and I can't recommend it enough.

Good food at a very reasonable price.

I had a headache after eating which may have been from MSG added to food. MSG acts as a potent neurotoxin by affecting the chemical composition of hippocampus which activates neurodegenerative pathways. So while it enhances flavour it comes at a cost. If the restaurant is using this flavour enhancer it should stop doing so ASAP.

We dined here for dinner. Must say everything we ordered tasted so authentic and homely. On the order was Beef Bibimbap, Korean fried chicken, chicken dumplings and Kimchi. Loved it every bit. Also the hosts were lovely people. Will definitely be coming back 👍👍

I've had takeaways from here a half-dozen rimes, but now I've had the in-person dining experience, it's even better. The food is excellent, the service friendly and entertaining, and it's so cool that the only Korean eatery for miles around is right here.

Didn’t receive all of the items, lady at desk assured we had but we had not. Then she realised she had put it in another bag. Said they could not bring it out so one person had no food. udon noodles weren’t very nice, bland and watery. Most definitely not worth 60 pound. Extremely disappointed.

the owner was super polite and i like how it felt family run. unfortunately the place itself felt unfinished. the toilets are located awkwardly and hidden behind the kitchen, in a cold unfurnished cellar. the toilet is super small and the door is pretty non existent. As in its there but hanging off the hinge precariously. anyone walling down would see you exposed. food wise was hit and miss. the kimchi pancake was soggy, the chicken wings were dry. the kimchi spicy soup was nice though. ventilation is also another big issue as it doesnt exist. you will leave smelling of cooking oil. shame as i wanted to like this place.

Who would’ve thought we found such a hidden gem?! I’ve had a lot of Korean food from big restaurants in London and nothing compares to this place!!! Hands down the best Korean food I’ve had so far. The owners are so lovely, hospitable and attentive Their Kimchi Jiggae is the BEST JIGGAE EVER along with their bibimbap, kimchi pancakes and chicken!!!! We ate so muchh food and for such a reasonable price. Me and my partner are so happy with everything and we will definitely come back asap aswell as recommend it to family and friends. It’s definitely a hidden gem.

Absolutely delicious food and lovely personalised service. Friend and I have both travelled to South Korea, with my friend having lived there and both touted it as an authentic experience. Prices were incredibly reasonable and we had an absolute feast for just over £20 each. Worth the long drive across and will be going back again!

This is probably the best Korean restaurant me and my partner have been to. The chef was extremely friendly and very attentive. Food was honestly 1000/10. We were also very surprised by how big the portion sizes were. Definitely coming back again!!!

Authentic Korean (you can trust me on this, I'm a South East Asian) very friendly lady and good value. Will come back and definitely recommend this to anyone.

Tucked away and wouldn't quite expect such amazing food to come out of this place. 2nd time visiting and was just as good as we both remembered. Food is reasonably priced and authentic. My friend and I absolutely love the food here. Great options, especially if you like a nice selection of spicy food. Only serves soft drinks. If you are dining in and going for a Korean theme, bring your own Soju and have a great time.
