Possibly the best Indian takeaway I’ve ever had in the UK. My wife and I arrived in Prestonpans on a Friday afternoon for a weekend getaway and our cottage was almost directly behind Goa Restaurant right on the sea front. Normally we would eat out but these are unusual times and a a takeaway seemed more appropriate. This particular meal was totally memorable. Flavours from heaven.

hadn't used the takeaway service for sometime, ordered the starters a couple of times, but bit 'crunchy'. So now stick to mains & side dishes, usually chicken dishes really freshly cooked, chicken is tender (not like chewing rubber) and plenty of it Service is fast, we use the online service and is usually ready in 15mins

I went for the garlic chill lamb, the meat was as tough as old boots and the sauce and vegetables looked like they were prepared about a week ago. I know it's quite a hot dish all I could taste was chill and nothing else.

Goa is my family and I’s favourite Indian takeaway. Service is always fast, food always hot and delicious. Chicken Korma is absolutely beautiful, but my favourite is Tarka Dahl, amazing flavours in lentils, perfect for vegetarians. Peshwari naan is by far the best of all the naans. I definitely recommend this place

We have been using The Goa Restaurant fnow for around 3 years for our Saturday night take away & have always found the food to be of a very high standard. I am really surprised to see so many negative remarks on TA. Tonights takeaway was no exception, the lamb in my lamb Bhutan just melted in the mouth. Service has always been very cheerful & friendly.. We will continue to use as long as this high standard is kept up.

We visited the Goa restaurant after various recommendations from friends in the area. The food was delicious, all freshly cooked on the premises. Great variety on the menu. The service was excellent. A very positive experience! Well worth a visit.

This takeaway is absolutely disgusting the worst Indian food ever the meals were so greasy we couldn’t eat them! Don’t waste your money

Not in the Pans very often but was down visiting a friend at the weekend. Got a delivery. Strangest looking chicken I've ever seen. Had a taste but thought it too dodgy to risk more! Phoned them to discuss and they hung up. Phoned again and they must have recognised the number and cut me off. 3rd time they didn't even answer! NEVER EVER AGAIN.

Truly awful food floating in Greece inedible.had better from some supermarkets. No refund policy and no replacement offered staff extremely rude.

Just had chicken dansak which was inedible. The chicken was tough and chewy. Nan bread was dry and tasteless. One of the worse Indian meals I’ve had.

Food is pretty but underhand business practices are used here though, sneakily adding 50p charge after handing over contactless card and hoping customer wont notice. Charging like this isn’t legal anymore and shows the character of the company and it’s owner - won’t be using again

Had an amazing night with the family we sat in food was delicious the new owners were very attentive and a really good laugh we all had a lovely time and well definitely be back soon the king prawns were lovely and the chicken and lamb were very tender sauces were gorgeous thanks very much for a great night I hope your new business is a great success

Very disappointing. Been customers for years and the new management has ruined the food! The chicken tikka masala tasted like it was made with Heinz Tomato Soup!!! The Keema Nan had bits of kebab meat on it. Really not worth the money. GOA ELSEWHERE!!!!

Great sized portions and the best flavour of the takeaways we've tried on the area. They're great at dealing with any special requests, in fact once we ordered naan breads but they tandoor oven had broken so offered us an alternative which we didn't want but to our surprise when we arrived to pick it up they had clearly gone elsewhere to get something sorted and we had naan!Brilliantly priced and great set menus too. Loads of choice of a variety of Indian dishes, easy to order and friendly staff.

Don't know what was in the chicken korma but we were all agreed it wasn't real chicken. I can honestly say that the meal we ordered was totally abysmal and we won't be going again

A first. And last. The sauces for both chicken dishes were the brightest I have ever seen. I'm pretty sure they used Stabilo Boss highlighter ink to flavour them. I would recommend to Goa to another restaurant.

Goa in prestonpans has raised the stakes in what's available to takeaway in East Lothian. Food is consistently high quality and hot on arrival. Any problems are addressed quickly and with no fussTonight the korma and balti were perfectly spiced the naan light and fluffy . Chutneys were tasty. Don't hesitate to order from here

Decided 1 night to get a carryout here to have for once home. Wish i hadn't bothered took around 30-35 minutes for my order to arrive, usually 15-20 minutes at most anywhere.Time i got home the curry being a chicken Pathia was more like a soup and pretty lukewarm. The chapati & rice to go with was not enjoyable. The food bin was the 1st place for it and while a waste, it was better not getting food poisoning that's for sure.

Me and my wife went there for our dinner as it was nar our holiday caravan park. I had korma and my wife had starters and Dansak and it was brilliant! Very good service and attentive staffs too. Well recomended :)

Arrived at this eatery about 7pm Friday night, and a schoolgirl waitress approached us to find out if we had booked, well the place was empty so no problem,ordered the starters which arrived in about an hour, freezing,the main course was another hour,freezing and horrible,I'm not gonna go on about this place because it would take me about 3 days to mention all the faults.dirty toilets, rotten food,arrogant staff,rotten music, no lemon,no pepper, no style,no apologies, worst restaurant I've ever been in my life,it should be closed down before they make someone very ill,I walked out and they didn't even bother,absolutely shocking..

I don't get takeaway food very often but I wouldn't get a curry from any where else it's certainly the best I've had in Scotland. The things I normally hate about Indian takeaway food in Scotland, oil slick on top, every dish kind of looks and tastes the same just with extra chilli and radiation red food colour. This is certainly NOT the case here the food is excellent, I wouldn't go anywhere else.

Been here lots of times staff are great and food is amazing this is the only indian i eat from wouldnt go anywhere else ever, love it never ever had a problem with any my orders infact this is the best meal i have ever had, thanks alot Sarah xx

Normally this place is great, nice curries and friendly staff. Tonight I went to collect my order and they never cooked it, apparently they didn't relieve my order, despite me receiving a "we have your order" email.They then said "we're closing soon, sorry"They've lost a loyal customer.

Staff were great. No problem with that. However, the food was poorOrdered the chicken kebab and the vegetables were burnt. They hadn't even removed the core and seeds from the peppers. The chicken Bhuna was bland. The raita had curdled. Possibly because it was at the bottom of the bag with 5 hot dishes on top of it.Huge expense for a poor return.

They were really, really, really, really good. And friendly. And good. All round good and friendly. Well done. So good.

Yet another great curry from Goa. Won't use anywhere else. I attempt to try new dishes each time and have yet to have one I've been disappointed in.

The food is first class,super fresh and tasty. The portions are big. The staff are all super friendly but Nero looked after us so well we cant wait to go back. The ambience inside the restaurant is great and has been recently done up. Its bring your own bottle without corkage charge and Nero even offered to keep our beer bottle in the fridge for us during our meal. I can recommend this restaurant for takeaways and sit in meals. Go try and see how they put the rest of the indian restaurants to shame! Look forward to coming back soon! <3

We've had takeaways from Goa several times now & they have always been delicious! I heartily recommend them. The staff have also been super helpful when we've asked for changes to their normal recipes - genuinely happy to accommodate our wishes.

Absolutely love Goa - especially the Kashmiri Curry and coconut rice. Generous portions and delicious! Great service and all food appears very fresh.... highly recommend. We only ever get a takeaway but there is a couple of small tables if you want to eat in ! Just don't tell everyone! lol

When this establishment had initially opened the food was very much focused on quality . However on subsequent occasions we ordered , standards had evidently dropped . We gave this takeaway the benefit of the doubt and sadly nothing has changed. Ordered 2 separate dishes and they both tasted exactly the same , tasteless unimaginative crap

Ordered a large takeaway meal for 5 people and 3 of us ended up extremely ill the next day! Food was so spicy it was inedible...and I am a lover of spicy food. Never again!! Was also half fan hour late

We use this restaurant as a weekend treat and get a take away delivered and we are yet to be disappointed. The food is beautifully cooked, tasty and always arrives piping hot. The portions are very generous though its not the cheapest place Ive ordered from but it certainly has tasty food so we are happy to stick with this place and continue our weekend treat. I havent been inside the restaurant but it certainly looks clean and tidy from the outside.

Had the family round for dinner last night. We collected our order and it was faultless. Piping hot everything beautifully spiced. My daughters said it's the best Indian ever!

This was are first and last time food wasn't tasty at all it was cold and are food had hair in most of it special the chicken pakoras we had 2 lots and out of them all maybe only 3 had no hair we also had 2 curries as when we phone he said it was a offer buy one get one for a penny we only wanted 1 to share but we said ok 2 chicken tikka masala was both cold and not tasty at all and a garlic nan bread no taste of garlic or anything was a very bad food worse we've ever had

We have been to Goa more than half a dozen times, each time trying a difference curry. We order online and by the time we jump in the car and head along it is just being boxed up and is fresh as I have ever had from a takeaway. When you get home the food is piping hot. The texture and flavour is fantastic and each curry is authentic and cooked how it should be and as described. Where it is described as hot it comes hot. Other Indian restaurants cater for the masses and tone down the temperature. Not here they get it spot on. Breath of fresh air. Cannot recommended high enough.

Take away is excellent. Always on time and being able to order online is a bonus. The food never disappoints - spicy just how I like it! I'm actually counting the minutes tonight until we can order. The peshwari nan is lovely along with balti butter chicken.

We use goa takeaway service which is always brilliant! Very quick and everything we ordered is always there. The food is wonderful very fresh extremely tasty and the chicken is cooked to perfection as is the lamb!! We have had korma, tikka, rogan josh, and many more dishes. Our favourite is the dine for 2 meals the pakoras are delicious and the nann bread mmmm!!! Great food great takeaway service will defo keep using goa!!! Xxxxx

Recently dined here after a recommendation from a friend, what can I say, hugely disappointed. Food (chicken) was tough, sauce was tasteless and quite bitter. Certainly won't be back, which is a shame as the area needs a good Indian.

Tasty food freshly prepared so be prepared to wait for it to arrive. I've tried a few dishes now and only had one I was a little dissapointed in. The quality and quantity means you wont be leaving hungry.The staff have always been friendly and try hard to please.You can order online for pickup or delivery.

Lovely small restaurant. Food is first class. Sanj and Nero are welcoming hosts. Its BYOB also. All food comes to you piping hot and the flavours are immense. Highly recommended.

Decided to give Goa a try as I was passing and in the mood for a curry. Opted for the North Indian Garlic chilli...I was hugely disappointed. Chicken tasted very salty, sauce was mild at best, and the dish just didn't have a great taste to it. Tasted almost like a cheap supermarket ready meal. Such a shame, but I'd not recommended.

This is my favourite Indian Takeaway. They are trying very hard to establish themselves in the area and I think they are busy now.The new menu is lovely with quite a few additions as well as the previous favourites.All the staff work really hard and aim to give you a meal that you really enjoy.Last night I tried the Vegetarian Malayan with the coconut rice and it really was fantastic. My second favourite is the Vegetarian Dupiaza - meanwhile, my husband always has the Lamb Madras!! Well done guys!!

Worst curry ever, we couldn't eat it. Chicken was hard and chewy, and the sauce was too hot and very salty, and also very runny. Very dissapointed will not be ordering from there again.

Tried Goa for a second time after trying it on the first night of opening and not being overly impressed. Wow how wrong first impressions can be! The food was EXCELLENT and so fresh! The flavours were unreal unlike some of the other indian restaurants in the area who just use powder to give the dish heat, here they use the freshest ingredients and you can really tell! I collected my order and was impressed that I could see into the kitchen and watch the chefs preparing my meal.In summary, if you want a really tasty, fresh indian meal for a very reasonable price then Goa is your place. In the words of Arnie....I'll be back!

This is the newest indian in Prestonpans and we think by far the best.The staff are very polite and always take time to chat and make sure you are looked after both in the sit in or if you have a carry out.The food is always prepared fresh and they will accomodate your own individual taste.

The food was not good, the starters were soggy to say the least, the main was ok...but Ive had better from a supermarket!, when I tried to talk to the manager about this he was very arrogant and aggressive, his attitude was awful....will not be back and cant recommend Goa to anyone, fortunately there are plenty of far better places to eat locally!

I have been twice now to goa. The first time round was nice. The food was lovely and the value for money was excellent. Second time, the starters were soggy and inedible, and although the main courses sauces were tasty, the chicken was chewy and not very enjoyable. I will not go back in a hurry. If I'm paying good money for an Indian meal, I don't want to take the chance of not enjoying it. There are much better, reliable Indians in East Lothian. Don't know how people can say this one is the best.

This place is fantastic- family run- never had even an average meal never mind a bad one dining in or delivery always first class food & service okay you wait 45 to 60 mins for tandoori food but its cooked FRESH TO ORDER so what do you expect well worth it.Love the fact no quick reheats.to much pride in their food for that.And can i just add the kitchen is absolutely spotless had a wee peak when picking up some food. This small Indian gem is going places.

This is the best Indian in the area for me. The food is cooked from scratch using fresh herbs and spices and you can really taste the difference. When you order Lamb from this place you know you are eating good quality meat.They are a little more expensive than other Indian Takeaways in the area, however I believe you do get what you pay for.I regularly order from here and the staff are very accommodating, if you want to change dishes at all say if you want more or less chilli in a dish, or swap set meals around.I am really impressed and I love my Indian food. This is not your run of the mill, bland, catering to English tastes place, their food is fresh, full of punchy flavour and I am glad they have opened in my area.

Ordered a set meal, came on time and was very hot, good start !The starter was onion Bajai was not cooked in middle and the chicken pakoras were like deep fried shredded chicken from the Chinese ! The Nan bread I ordered was a garlic nan and they sent a garlic coriander and chilli nan!! Well, the main courses got tikka lamb with Balti and the other lamb dish was chewy and full of fat. Fair to say its in the bin,Phoned to inform the manager who said that I must have known all balti dishes are served with tikka meat hmmmm and then was a tab argumentative and offered a small discount of a future meal no refund offered. Not be back, dont know were these other diners eat to say this is the best in east lothian !!!!

Tried a curry tonight as i heard so many good reviews about this new Indian restaurant. And i wasn't disappointed. This is the best curry i have tested ever. its a little restaurant but was so busy. i had to waited a long to pick up my order but it was worth! kitchen is open ; so i was able to see what's being made in front of my eyes. Lovely staffs. good service. excellent foods. I am glad to discover them.

What a lovely Indian restaurant this it. Extensive menu for both vegetarians and meat lovers. A whole range of curries to choose from. When eating the meal you actually taste the food not just the curry.Fantastic service, prompt delivery or collection. Lots of tables inside if you want to eat inside but we prefer the carry out service as many tables are set out in the small front of shop. Perhaps fewer seats in a more private setting would be better but ideal for groups of people who are out together.

I could not be happier that Goa has arrived in Prestonpans, having moved from Edinburgh a couple of years ago I have struggled to find a decent curry.I ordered two dishes and a mushroom rice, Tuesday is curry and another for a penny which is brilliant, we waited around 20 minutes while we watched the curry being cooked! The kitchen is clean and all staff wearing hats etcPlanning on a wee visit with friends on a Tue again very soon, keep it up Goa :)Helpful review? Remember and say so :)
