Great place for a breakfast overlooking the loch

A lovely spot to stop for coffee and food with a perfect view of the loch. Very popular with bikers who are very welcoming and friendly. Staff were very nice and overall offered up a nice atmosphere. Food and drinks are reasonably priced and the cakes are delicious. I’d recommend this to anyone passing by and make sure to say hello to the bikers too - we’re a friendly bunch!

Well run cafe on the road from Moffat to Selkirk. A good selection of food & drink at reasonable prices. The food was of a decent quality and served quickly with a smile. Plenty of parking for cars & bikes

Just passing on our Motorcycles coffee machine not working £3 for a coffee from a cheap sachet packet, like the ones you get from lidi for £1 for 6 , ,I could not drink it so left it very poor , My mates had Tea still £3 .

Nice atmosphere, friendly welcome, nice staff. Food average. We had the full Scottish breakfast. It wasn't freshly cooked apart from the egg and toast, and the plates were cold. But it included toast and tea or coffee in the price and filled a hole, so no complaints.

E bike ride up from Lockerbie yesterday, headwind all the way - cycling sod's law! First visit, place is well worth 5 stars, unbelievable 'small' breakfast, friendly staff, I felt really welcome.

Had the steak pie, chips and beans followed by jewelled fruit cake and custard and a coffee, delicious food and the view unbelievable overlooking the loch....peaceful.

Avoid at all costs! Cold, dry, rock hard scone served without butter which was inedible. The soggy, sad quiche somehow was sweet and tasted of flowers? Not sure how they achieved that. And the ‘hot beef sandwich’ was two sad slices of beef in an equally sad bun, no gravy. Lots of the food had sold out so we essentially paid £8 for a portion of chips because the quiche went straight in the bin. Miserable customer service too.

Amazing little place on the side of the Loch. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Catered for my gluten and milk free dietary requirements and welcomed our dogs would recommend a visit.

We stopped off at Glen Cafe for breakfast after wild camping by the loch, and it was possibly the best breakfast I’ve ever had. The waitress was really friendly, the food tasted amazing and was epic value for money.

What a lovely place. Friendly staff. Great location overlooking the Loch. 5 stars all round. However, the overall rating is a 1 because I'm now sat at home having to deal with the side affects of having consumed dairy, despite telling staff that I was intolerant of dairy. I have only eaten here today and now will have a few days of digestive issues and toliet problems and nausea. Thankfully I'm not allergic or it would have been a very different matter altogether. This isn't a post to cause reputational harm but to warn others to be careful if they have intolerances, and for the owners to be made aware that intolerances are.as serious as allergies.

Absolutely perfect cafe. Especially if you're Coeliac or need Gluten free food. Check out the chips!! They have many options for both Coeliacs and muggle including fabulous coffee and ice creams. We had the large all day breakfast which was perfect for a day of paddle boarding

Nice atmosphere and friendly staff, stopped in for bite to eat ,cafe was busy all tables taken,so had coffee and sat outside,15mins later few tables were available ,ordered breakfast fry up , food arrived quickly,& was filling ,no complaints wasn’t expecting Michelin star & wasn’t disappointed congrats to the chef to keep up with the order's, with more customers arriving ,will definitely make return visit

Called in today for breakfast whilst cycling through the area. Beautiful location. A lot of attention paid to the food on offer and the presentation. Very generous helping. The owners were a joy to spend time with, very friendly and attentive.

Firstly wee ordered a full breakfast & pie&beans Pie was burnt to a crisp then the replacement pie was freezing in the middle disgusting! BREAKFAST egg like rubber bacon burnt to a crisp! Sausages like cardboard! However they did refund the cost of the pie& beans very disappointing!

Food was horrible. Dry, overcooked and overpriced. They should be embarrassed to charge money for that burger! The cake was better but nothing special. People are pleasant enough

Stopped by for a bite to eat whilst out on the motorbike. The staff were very friendly but I think the price charged for latte when it's powdered, is a little excessive. Had the steak pie and chips and the pie was very tasty but the beans lost their heat very quickly. This would not stop me from stopping there again and might try the cake next time which looked lush.

Love this place, Great teas and cake also lovely walks on the edge of St Marys Loch March Wood and the surrounding hills.

Stunning views, nice staff, ok choice but in reality, average food though which is slightly pricey for the quality of what you get. Nice but like a lot of places now, they need to look at competition to see quality of food elsewhere however that's maybe the problem as there isn't competition nearby. This place has a captive market as it's a wee bit remote so they rely on visitors to this wonderful area. Worth a visit if your passing.

Went here on a bike trip the views are amazing and stunning but £2 for a can of juice is a bit shocking I would go back tho

A small cafe opposite Loch of the Lowest and St. Mary's Loch. Excellent Gluten free cakes and coffee. Other dishes look good and everyone appeared to be enjoying them. In dull dour weather it was very atmospheric, on a sunny day absolutely beautiful.

Have visited the cafe twice in 3 days. First visit was just for coffee and cake, which was fine, nothing extraordinary. This visit was over a weekend Second visit was for lunch, 2 days later as the area is beautiful and we visited again. Ordered 2 bacon cheese burgers with chips and a tea and coffee. The burger was flavourless, cheese was not melted and the bacon was hard and dry (would suggest reheated leftovers) smallest side salad I've ever seen, no coleslaw either. Will not be returning for a third visit.

Cracking biking road although there were lots of potholes very friendly bike stop Cafe with toilet 👍 can't comment on food as they were re decorating and not serving on that particular day although we did have a hot drink 🙏

Great place to stop for lunch or coffee , we where made really welcome and the food looked delish although we only had a coffee as it was mid morning.

So pleased this cafe has been taken over what a difference in the service, food choice, and quality of food lovely can't fault really enjoyed my stop there and definitely will be back.

Just what you want after a long hike/ride. Great atmosphere, full of friendly bikers (of a certain age) and super friendly staff.

Stopped in after a cold morning on the bike had a breakfast fit for champions 2 teas and the best brownie I have ever had in the best setting ever and the best service highly recommended popping in. 👌

Pre-booked a table for 12 motorcyclists on Easter Sunday wasn't a problem & the staff were excellent even although they were super busy. Food was good Caledonian Biker.

Cafe by the Loch, it was their first day opening , we had full breakfast aswell as their scones both delicious .we will definitely be back soon !Big shout out to Karen the ranger aswell their hospitality was 1st class

It's a good place to stop for a coffee and cake, great location for walkers to base themselves. Arrive early have a bacon or egg roll breakfast return after walking and have more hot rolls plus tea and coffee. It's a bit spartan but the staff are friendly and welcoming

A wee gem in the middle of nowhere👌

Great place to stop for a short break from driving. Good selection of tray bakes, and offering hot and cold rolls, didn't notice if soup was being offered. Tray bakes were very good, coffee was from a filter system and had probably been sitting for a while, could have been better. It's a balancing act with a small cafe but a coffee machine would be a good idea. Staff warm and friendly, the cafe has great views over St Mary's loch.

A very beautiful woman served us this afternoon, I felt the volume of custom warranted a proper coffee machine though.

A great place to stop when you're out enjoying yourselves in this wonderful area. We were on motorbikes.

We stopped as we were desperate for lunch and I saw photos of burgers and fries here on google. Maybe we came the wrong day? Because they only served paninis, but it was really just two slices on a small plate, not decorative salad, no nothing. The toilets are horrible. What’s really lovely is the gallery in the cafe, lots of wonderful art to see and buy. But all in all it’s all very basic and not really a cosy place where you want to hang out longer.

Good cafe frequented by mainly motorbikes and watersport people. They also hire out Kayaks and paddleboards.....

A lovely wee cafe and gallery overlooking Loch of the Lowes. Serving a whole range of breakfasts and snacks. Also sells walking books and other little gifts . Toilets and parking also available here. Premises will be closing on 2nd of October for the winter.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Spent an hour putting up tent not disturbing anyone and was told no camping here and told to leave

Brilliant spot, really friendly and helpful service, even helped me dry out my wet cycling gear. Grub basic but decent. Will definitely use it again if passing by.

A fantastic place to visit (which I do Every time I go out on my motorcycle) but the other weekend was the first time I purchased some food. The filled roll was pretty decent but it should be for the amount I was charged for it! Shocked was an understatement! Thank god the views are stunning And the cafe is biker friendly! I just felt Robbed as over £8 for an egg roll was extracting the Michael a tad! I'll be back for sure But, I'll bring my Own lunch this time.

Twice now I've visited this cafe and both times they have had no hot food. Fist time they blamed energy prices and only cook mid week. So went mid week and still none. Lots of visitors all making do with cake and tea. Nice cake I shall grant you. But not a pie and beans my groaning belly needed for the ride back.

The experience of the public toilets were enough to put us off. The disabled toilet was out of order and locked and it was impossible for my wheelchair bound mother to use the able bodied facilities which were absolutely disgusting. Heavens knows when they were last cleaned! We only had a takeaway coffee such was our disappointment in the facilities, when we had otherwise gone with the intention of having a light meal there.

Very conveniently located next to Loch. Only serving tea and cake on Wednesdays.

Fresh traybakes on display when we walked in this afternoon, fresh coffee too. The cafè itself was quite busy with no seats left inside, but that’s ok as there was a few outside left. They have gifts you can buy there too. When this is open, do pop in. Toilets are right next door. Need to pay for them now.

Coffee had so much milk added to it ( right up to the brim of the cup ) by the staff it was cold before I started to drink it. Had to tip some out to even move the cup ! Used to visit , won't be back 😕

It’s not a great place unfortunately……. The coffee was just strong brown watery liquid. Cakes were ok, I think they were just from a packet though, it’s pretty no frills…..

Lovely cafe, nice people working there but the real star of the show is St Mary's Loch that is right outside the door. Very beautiful views and it's topped off by a coffee and cake. The toilets are quite scary in the little outbuilding next door but they are definitely usable, as long as you haven't watched a scary film the night before you should be ok :D I'd definitely recommend the Lorne roll, absolutely beautiful!

The historic and beautiful scenery of St Mary's Loch is let down by this controlling and jobsworth cafe owner We have come up this week as we have done for several years,one of my favourite places in the UK. Quiet evenings on the water in my kayak resting with my fire pit and travelling off in the latter hours of the night. We were approached by what appeared to be a lovely Scottish lady. I greeted her and she began dictating who can go where on the Loch. fishing members can pay as much as £70 for a fishing licence and permit per year. The fishermen we met were debating going to another location because she told them they can't have them there. ( They are members who pay to fish the waters) I said to him it's not the lady's jurisdiction. A ranger was contacted by the Ranger who was called Karen who was an absolute pleasure to engage with. She didn't tell us to do this and that she was supportive and gave us some good ideas for our stop at the loch for the day. The lady from the cafe came out hysterical to Ranger Karen and said "they cannot put those tents There" refering to the PAID MEMBERs fishing camp. What was once a pleasure felt like a chore watching her challenge every individual to ensure they weren't camping 😂 even though wild camping is legal in Scotland (she's trying to get a ban) because she thinks she owns the loch and the cafe. I'm half Scottish and I know for certain the person that owns it leases it out. I was interested a couple of years ago. Oh if I could go back I would have took it for the pure beauty of the loch. Be advised the cafe lead me to believe that she had some kind of safety training as" people weren't allowed on certain parts of the loch for safety" she has no qualifications in water safety. THERE IS NO LIFEGUARD. THE RANGER HAS JURISDICTION IN THE LOCAL AREA. THIS LADY IS NOT A LIFE GUARD. THERE ARE NO LIFEGUARDS HERE. WATER SAFETY WISE TODAY ONLY MY WIFES HERE WHO IS A SCUBA DIVING INSTRUCTOR AND LIFEGUARD. If you do use this cafe she will treat you like royalty. Fire pits ARE ALLOWED so please bring picnics etc but TAKE YOUR RUBBISH HOME AND NO FIRES ON GRASS PLEASE. DONT DESTROY THIS BEAUTIFUL SAFEHAVEN LIKE WE HAVE THE REST OF THE WORLD. PRESERVE THE NARURAL BEAUTY. ANY ISSUES WITH THIS PERSON CONTACT THE SHERIFF AND OR RANGER TO HAVE ANY HARRASMENT dealt with or safety advice. Our day was ruined but with the cool headed ranger it saved the day. It's a business stunt to either get tables and chairs by the loch or ensure people buy food from them and not bring their own. My wife was cooking on a firepit and she turned around to see the cafe lady with her hands on her hips giving filthy looks to her. We don't spend on food we cook our own it's our right!! It's not right and it's not fair. If the lease goes up again I won't miss the opportunity and turn it into something amazing, litter pick every weekend, appeal for camping by permit provided local laws and rules are followed should the estate allow it I for one would certainly pay £10 per night to camp at the loch and parking for a reasonable rate. Don't let this lady put you off but please respect the loch.

This place was really good a few years ago. I was disappointed this visit. Menu choices are poor, overpriced and low quality. Nice location.

So glad to find this open on Thurs 18.5.23. Lovely welcome and fantastic array of cakes. Couldn't choose so had a mint and dark chocolate slab and took a fruit cake tray bake with me. Lovely scones too!

Porsche Owners Club (TIPEC) Breakfast Run. A small group from a Porsche owners club (TIPEC) arrived on Saturday morning (8th April) and Audrey and her team greeted us, made us so welcome and served a superb Full Cooked Breakfast! Great food, service and location, will certainly return, but be prepared, a much larger group will be coming! Thank you so much. Brian H.

The lady in charge was the sweetest ever. There were kayaks for rent. We brought our own food and drinks as the café was only open for our group. It's temporarily closed to the public till 31st March; it's a seasonal spot. Plenty of room to eat, drink, and dance! We had a grill outside for barbecue. There's outside sitting and dining available too.

Fantastic cafe in fabulous location. Great range of tray bakes and yummy bacon sandwiches too. Warm and welcoming service provided by family business. Kayaks hired out by the hr. to a bonus! Look forward to returning. Thank you! 😊
