Gidi Grill, Dundee in Dundee City

One of the best little corners of Dundee! We got a table after 6 on a Friday night so this is definitely a good spot to go even on a busy night out. Right in the city centre, easy to find and great selection of choices. The hotdogs, pasta, grill and burgers? If you need protein this is a top notch spot to go. I had the chicken burger and my father had the Angus beef burger. They are also super accommodating! The owner/manager is so lovely and assisted us in allergies and intolérances every step of the way. They have gluten free buns, vegan ice-cream (be vary if you have a soy allergy though! As it is soy based). We got all the sauces I want. Quick service, and great atmosphere. Also great for spicy and non spice lovers as the sauces can be customised and chosen so your non-spicy tolerant doesn't qeep over dinner ! ❤️🌶️ 10/10 will visit again!?

Food was great however service was a bit slow. Needed to ask when the wine was coming, and then the food. Had to ask for the dessert menu too (unheard of; usually that follows quickly after mains) and then the bill. Bit disappointed. Food was the saviour.

Busy city centre restaurant on a Saturday night, full of people dressed up and enjoying their night out. Friendly but efficient service. Menu eclectic but not very extensive - we enjoyed the dishes we had - good flavours.

Booked here for my 26th birthday for 6 people. It was a Saturday night which I understand it’s very busy and the servers have other tables to serve but we received our meals before our drinks, we have to ask the server twice for our drinks after our meal. They forgot the kids meal which was brought out after the drinks. The food was okay, we all have chicken and the chicken was pink but I’m guessing it was down to the seasoning. We finished our meal and asked the server 4 times after for the bill. They were quite rude as well. It was disappointing as I’ve always wanted to try this place and it’s gutting as I thought it would be a lot better.

The food here is out of this world, I haven’t enjoyed a meal this much in a very long time. The staff are incredibly lovely and catering and the atmosphere here is amazing. Can’t recommend enough : )

Is there was an option for a higher score, I would have Service was great, fitted us in when they were in a pinch. We were checked on just to make sure we were enjoying it Meat was perfectly cooked, and that green chilli sauce was superb. Nice work guys, can’t wait to try desert

I've eaten here twice now, both times the service has been brilliant. The staff are very attentive and friendly even when the restaurant is busy. The food is delicious, my partner had the meat basket and I had the Mac n cheese which we couldn't fault 👌🏼 cocktails are lovely and the staff are great at recommending items off the menu if you can't decide! Will 100% be back

From the time we entered till the time we left we had a great time. We were welcomed by the staff as soon as we went in and the friendly atmosphered continued throughout. The food was amazing and I would highly recommend a visit here.

We were in Scotland for the weekend n told to eat here, wasn’t disappointed great cocktails too!! Wish there was one LONDON…. Can’t wait to come back, one tip maybe make the sticky toffee pudding a bit smaller ;)) Hope to see you soon 👌🏾

the food here is amazing. so good to get something different done right. The flavours and texture of the food is very authentic and well worth the reasonable price. Staff are very friendly, we were in at a very bust time and they were a bit rushed but overall amazing food, good venue and friendly staff. Will deff be back

The steak pie was superb. The steak was tender without being stringy and the gravy rich and full flavoured, veg was tender and the mash was smooth and creamy. Pastry lid was buttery and not overdone, dry or brittle. One of the best steak pies I have had.

A favorite place. I arrived from an international flight and met my friend there directly for dinner without going home first. Thats how great this place is!

Unfortunately went for a meal here on recommendation, will not return, ate the chicken combo grill, chicken was undercooked, my beef was undercooked and despite paying for the rest of the food ordered, we were accused by a member of staff to another customer that we were making it up, just to get out of paying the bill, highly unprofessional behaviour.

Wonderful food. Especially Mac and cheese with chicken breast.and the coconut cheesecake. Friendly. Attentive. Polite Staff. Would seriously give six stars if I could. Highly recommend Gidi Grill.

Walked in for quick dinner. Servers were really nice. Food was delicious. Really like garlic and chili prawn starter and jerk bbq chicken main. Would recommend.

Just wanted a quick bite to eat before the storm started. Gidi Grill was just the ticket. I had grilled chicken with BBQ sauce, fries and salad with a virgin mojito. Very good quality food, service was amazing and not too expensive either

The food was AMAZING!! I had the meat baskets which was a great selection and steak, pork, chuck and jerk sausages was perfect. The fries and slaw were spot on and I would recommend the jerk sauce. My wife had the burger and was by far the best burger she had ever had. Comes in a pretzel bun which added to the quality. The staff were really nice and made sure everything was great. Nice and easy to book a table on the website. We will definitely be returning again, soon!

My 1st visit to this establishment. I was impressed by all on offer. The food was outstanding, as was the alcohol and I was lucky to be able to get up from my chair after what I had eaten. I would highly recommend this establishment to everyone. We had used Gidi Grill as part of my sons birthday break to Brought Ferry.

Have been here many a time and the food is excellent. Staff are always really friendly and great service. My favourite place to eat in Dundee!

Love this place it's so good had the mixed meat basket and everything was cooked so well you get chicken rump steak pork steak and sausage with red pepper sauce and rustic fries I also added a cheese sauce . The flavours were great and all the meat was brilliantly cooked . Had a few lovely cocktails as well . Highly recomme d this place

The pork ribs bbq sause was great but the ribs not to juicy.

Bit slow with drink order, some staff need more training

Mt husband and I never knew of the Gidi Grill in Dundee. We were in a venue and saw this restaurant when we came out. We went into the restaurant and right away, we loved the atmosphere and the friendly reception we received. We ordered our food (my husband had the hot dog and I had the burger) and it arrived at our table very quickly. Oh my word, it was delicious. Never tasted anything so nice,,,,ever!! We decided to have a dessert, sticky toffee pudding for my husband and chocolate chilli brownie for myself. We never usually have dessert but we are so so happy we did!! Everything was so delicious and atmosphere plus service was 100% too We loved it so much, we are going again today. Its only been 5 days since we went but we can't wait to return this afternoon If you haven't been here before I highly recommend it It's definitely 10 out of 10,,,,100%,,,,our No.1 place to go

I cannot praise this place enough. Staff were so friendly, took orders quickly and the food was served so fast and extremely delicious. Music was good, the place decorated by locally painted art, toilets were spotless. Definitely a 5 🌟 Would definitely recommend and will return again soon.

incredible steak! It was absolutely fantastic. The ambiance was amazing, the menu had so many great choices, we had The papaya salad. It was really yummy 😋 and there were plenty of tables available,We didn't even have a reservation, but we were seated quickly. Was here last night for our anniversary, and from the moment you walk in it’s just so lovely and inviting. The service was amazing and the staff were so friendly. Food was served quickly and was so delicious, will definitely be back!

Class food. Class service. Brilliant atmosphere, my favourite restaurant.

Our table of 4 dined here on Saturday 3rd July for a 7pm booking. The staff were overrun and we didn’t leave until 9pm. We were seated at 7:20pm and waited a further 20 mins on our first drink. The spicy prawns to start and chicken nachos were tasty. Another 30 mins wait for a second drink while our main dishes were either overcooked or had been sitting for a while as the ribs were very dry but smothered in sauce. £23 for dry ribs. The burger wasn’t succulent and crumbled when bitten into. A sign of it being dry. Really poor food. The staff explained that the kids dance event in the Caird Hall had driven more ad-hoc custom. In my view this has then tainted our booking. 2hrs for 2 drinks and our meal. It felt like we had been there for a fortnight. We felt drained by the time we left. We were offered £20 off our bill from the female Manager which would have covered the cost of 2 cocktails (in a party of 4). You would assume any compensatory value would at least cover 4 drinks? The Manager did apologise and were pleasant enough, as were we, but the apology was not going to make the ribs and burger juicy. The damage was done. Overall, a disappointing experience and definitely won’t return to this restaurant. Ps the gents toilets needed cleaned but not addressed as all staff were too busy.

The food was well presented and tasted really good. Little pricey for what it was. The staff were nice but the place seamed poorly organised, no one came back after our food was served to check if any issues (which there was), my daughter asked for a Vegan meal but found prawns in it. This was quickly replaced but shouldn't have happened. Had to go up to desk and ask for and pay our bill, looked like only one member of staff was allocating tables and taking payments. Not a great system as slowed everything down. If they took payment at the table things would run a lot smoother.

Absolutely great food. With trash service. We have gone before and were able to split the bill and suddenly they can’t split and wait to even try and help until after we have paid. Zero help. Maybe get carry out because the incompetence deters the want to go back for the food. This might be the reason nobody tips in this country.

We were there Saturday 20th July the service was terrible how they can bring the food first then the drink is beyond me this restaurant is on a slow decline we won't go back it's a pity good food and location.

Gidi Grill in Dundee is a truly authentic restaurant that is highly recommended. The food was really a dream, very tasty and you immediately noticed that you had arrived in the African/Caribbean world of taste. The cocktails are simply delicious. The decor of the restaurant was also really fitting, the roofing, the lamps, lots of green plants and the colors were great...really beautiful and modern at the same time. The service was super nice, friendly and accommodating, you feel cared for and you can immediately see the passion in them.

Great place and great food. Not ridiculously priced either. The server we had was so nice and attentive.

One of Dundee's best, but I miss the city quay. The food was on point tonight, We had the hotdog which arrived very quickly Nacho's which again arrived quickly and were delicious. The desserts were also brilliant but there is something about the quality of the food since it moved from the quay it's no longer up to the same standards.

I really enjoyed the food here, there is a real eclectic mix of dishes and some very nice cocktails to go with it. Service was excellent, very friendly and helpful.

Last minute decision to have a late lunch here today for a birthday celebration. Food was amazing, we all chose totally different dishes and we tried a bit of everything. Fish was fantastic, steak was perfect, a few different dishes and sides all very tasty, and the soup was a revelation! All really beautifully cooked and presented, the staff were very sweet and helpful and we were all very impressed..we will definitely be back. Round of applause for the chefs and waiting staff, 10 out of 10 guys!

Dinner for 8 people. First time here and a return visit will be on the cards. Things to note: you will have to book as it's very popular, also it's loud so expect a noisy dinner. Food is ace, and there are good Carribbean cocktail options to accompany it, as well as wine and beer choices. Service is good but the demand means a wait is to be expected at times, so we were there for 2.5 hours for two courses.

Such great Caribbean food, drinks, and especially desserts! Dundee's best place for plantains and plantain cinnamon cake! The service was very slow. We were there 2.5 hours to recieve all our orders.

Staff were very friendly. Atmosphere was vibrant and inviting. The food was great and well presented, just maybe a tad confusing on my palette with the infusion of so many different flavours. But that is just personal preference. You won't regret going.

The food was good and the staff attentive. Some of the party sounded like they thought it was very spicy. It was spicy but I didn't think overly. We had a party of 10, ate lots and drank cocktails. The bill was surprisingly low at the end of the night.

We went here for my Mums birthday and it was an absolute 10/10. The food tastes so good and all the staff made it such a welcoming and memorable experience. The staff are so nice you don’t just feel like a customer they treat you like a friend too.

The food, the service and atmosphere is just perfect for family and friends gathering.

Overall, underwhelming. The red pepper soup was way too salty. It also looked like a season grey water with a fish fillet (which was good!).The Ceasar salad was nicely presented and tasty. Ordered a medium well stake but it was undercooked. The served also asked about add ons to meals without stating that they cost extra.

The food just warms your heart and soul, it was amazing, had a few different 🍸 aswell which were really good. The staff also were second to none, they were all helpful and seemed to be enjoying work, which in turn just made me even happier to eat there! 100% will be back

Lovely laid back vibe, food was delicious. Could have eaten the coleslaw for days 😂 Staff were great, so good with my little girl. Would have loved to try the Bahama Mama cocktail, maybe next time!

I had the best jollof rice, plantain and mixed meat basket with a glass of pina colada mocktail. Food and drink tasted so nice.

Food is okay, but very expensive. The restaurant is very crowded and busy, people will never see you except you call for help. The service is terrible, manager herself is a very rude person, not friendly. The waitress in the restaurant will finding all excuses for their mistakes and then blame the consumers.

Good evening was the first time I have been here (16/03/24)and I have to say it will not the last be the last from the minute you walk until you leave the staff are brilliant and very pleasant and very much in control. The food was just WOW I had the chicken ceaser salad the othe 2 members of the had the steak and the grilled chicken which was beautifully cooked and tender and to to top it off the cocktails and moctails were so nice. Overall my experience was great and can't fault anything credit to all the staff members can't wait to come back very soon...thank you..

I’d heard good things, but unfortunately it didn’t quite meet my expectations. The chicken burger I had was a little on the dry side of things and definitely could have had more flavour and for almost £17, I felt a little short changed. The service was fantastic though. Super quick and friendly staff. The atmosphere was pretty cool, nice music, nice setting, just unfortunately I felt where we were sat was a little busy being next to the kitchen.
