Georgie's Yard in Barnsley

My friend and I had been bought afternoon tea at Georgies yard. It was a wonderful afternoon and would highly recommend. All food freshly baked or locally sourced, so supporting other local businesses. Everything delicious and constant supply of fresh hot tea kept coming. Hosts ensuring the whole time everything was to our liking.

Absolutely amazing venue, hosts and cake! Picturesque little gem of a place not to be missed. A local business that supports other local business. Brilliant!

Fabulous afternoon with family at this little hidden gem in Barnsley! The pigs in blankets were gorgeous! The scones were perfect! And the cinnamon cake was the best Iv ever tasted Great hosts, who were very attentive and so friendly! Would highly recommend and would definitely re visit this place

My mum and myself have been itching to do a workshop here, we finally booked two workshops. The booking process was really easy. Lynn was really helpful in booking and sent a helpful guide on what was going to happen on the day and hoe to access Georgie's Yard. Well where do I start, firstly another lady who was also going to the workshop, helped us as im a bit gormless and didn't see where we were going, Lynn's directions were spot on, but like I said I'm a bit gormless haha. So thank you to that lady for helping us. OK back to the review. We entered Georgies Yard and its beautiful garden that was decorated for Halloween. As we went in, I was a bit anxious, but I needn't have been a lovely warm welcome from Lynn, who is one of the loveliest ladies I've ever met, she made us feel like we had known her years. Pam who was running the workshop was very approachable and helpful. The other ladies in the group were equally as lovely and helpful. Some had been before and some like us were new to Georgie's. Inside Georgie's Yard is beautiful and creates a calm and welcoming space. With displays of handcrafted items to buy, and are beautifully displayed. The workshop starts with an introduction and demonstration of the workshop you are booked on. Great humour throughout, and even though I had a creative block. I still managed to create something by the end of the session. Half way through Lynn brought us a slice of ginger cake and a hot drink. I am a massive ginger cake fan and it was absolutely divine!! Infact I want Lynn to sell me some haha. All in all if you are thinking about going to Georgie's Yard please do! The hospitality is amazing and we cannot wait to revisit on the next workshop we have booked on. Thank you for a great morning

We attended over the weekend to host our friends surprise baby shower. What a fantastic venue and a real hidden gem in the centre of Barnsley. The hosts could not do enough for us from allowing us in early to decorate (thank you!) to regularly topping up our drinks. The food was equally as delicious and we all went home with doggy bags! Thank you so much for a wonderful afternoon. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend ⭐️

The afternoon tea was perfect, the sandwiches were soft with lot's of filling, the savoury pie , roll and quiche very good , then the cakes and scones , the cream and jam really complimented the scones. Very well done , looking forward to visiting soon.

My sister found the afternoon tea as it’s local to her and we went with my baby niece. The afternoon tea was amazing and our hosts were perfect. They’d opened just for us and were chatty but not overly so. The food was incredible… everything homemade and roast potatoes!!! We were given savoury and then a break before our sweets. Couldn’t ask for more and will definitely return!

Absolutely fabulous food and company, it was my mums 50th birthday and we had planned a surprise tea party for her with all the ladies in the family, however our previous reservation cancelled on us the night before so we messaged Lynne at 9:30pm under no expectancy of a reply, but she did and said she would happily help us out on her day off!!! It’s such a beautiful garden and room decorated with lovely hand made gifts to buy, Simon and Lynne made sure the surprise went out of there way too make sure my mums day went special… we can’t thank them enough!!! Would definitely recommend xxx

Cannot praise this place and Simon and Lynn enough!! We happened to stumble across this beautiful business when our original plan for my mums surprise 50th got cancelled. At last minutes notice Simon and Lynn couldn’t do enough for us and were the most brilliant hosts!! Food, decor, everything was fantastic and the house and garden is just beautiful. This is the place to go for any get together with friends or family you will not be disappointed. Thank you again Simon and lynn what a gorgeous day we have had all down to you both ♥️

I visited Georgie’s yard with two friends after reading all the fantastic reviews and we were not disappointed. On walking into the beautiful garden we were warmly greeted by Lynne and her husband Simon. A table had been laid for us inside with lovely china and lace cloths. The food was all fresh and locally sourced. Everything was absolutely delicious and we were topped up with a constant supply of tea and coffee. We ate our deserts outside in the sunshine enjoying the lovely garden. It was such a nice way to spend a summers afternoon but I imagine it’s super cosy in winter when the log burner is lit on chilly days. There is also a selection of handmade gifts and crafts that can be purchased on site. Thankyou so much for a wonderful afternoon. We can’t wait to come back!

Just taken afternoon teas delivered this week and it was superb. Friends in Edinburgh arranged this for me. I'm at a loss to how they found you but I'm glad they did. They said it was a pleasure to do business with you and you certainly lived up to that. Thank you again.

As part of our bride’s hen-do weekend we had Afternoon Tea with family and friends at Georgie’s Yard, and as you can tell from the photos it was a wonderful afternoon. To say that Lynn & Simon catered to our every need is an understatement - we had A LOT of self-proclaimed fussy eaters, but Lynn & Simon dealt with all of them with no complaints, keeping track of everything to the letter. They also coped perfectly with a last minute guest substitution which added yet another dietary requirement. The food was absolutely great! The ‘mains’ were a variety of delicious sandwiches, quiches and extras, followed by lovely cakes and scones - if only we could have had extra helpings! Lynn kept us topped up with tea throughout our afternoon, and everyone really enjoyed the fizz tasters provided at the start of the meal. In addition to wonderful food, Lynn was really welcoming and helpful with decorating. I was coming from London that morning and needed to get helium balloons filled, set up the table decorations, and the rail to show off our bridesmaid robes - Lynn helped me make decisions about how and where to put things, and also had a big hand in actually getting the decorations up in time for the bride’s arrival. Once the bride had arrived, we got to do a little photo shoot in the wonderful garden, with a surprise bubble machine by the water fountain which added to the magic of the day. All in all, it was a fabulous day and the bride thought it was the perfect way to start her hen do weekend! Now I just hope I have another excuse to head back to Barnsley and give some of the Georgie’s Yard craft workshops a go!

We enjoyed a belated Mothers' Day afternoon tea here at this quaint and quirky tea room/ craft centre. Nothing was too much trouble for Lynn, dealing with allergies and young children with kindness and tact! The afternoon tea included sandwiches, quiche, sausage rolls, cupcakes, scones with cream and jam and biscuits, with the children getting chocolate-covered marshmallows on a straw as well! Beautiful presentation, crockery & cutlery and a fantastic setting, including water fountain and bubbles outdoors.
