Gauthama Authentic Thai in Shropshire

While the food at this restaurant is not 100% authentic (pea aubergines were missing from the curry) the food here is really very tasty. The chefs hit right salt, sour and sweet balance that is so crucial to Thai food. The yum woon sen glass noodle salad is delicious, as is the laab (spellings in the restaurant might differ). Portion sizes are good and the price is right too. The only let down is that the music can be a little too loud for my liking but that's a personal preference. If you go, be sure to share your dishes and don't use chopsticks as the Thai's don't use but prefer a spoon and fork.

This was the worst Thai meal that we have had. We waited nearly half an hour for our order to be taken. The starters were bland and one was tough to eat. The main course had none of the aromatic and fragrant flavours of a Thai meal, it was a chilli hit combined with coconut milk. One very expensive side dish looked like a bowl of leftovers and tasted that way too. There was a lack of attention to the drinks order which was wrong twice and the place was too noisy and not relaxing at all. Overpriced and overrated in our opinion.

We went this week for a second visit and I have to say I still can not fault the place. We are only visiting the area but I’m so wishing we lived closer to be able to eat here often, unfortunately almost 3 hrs is a bit far to go for a meal. Lovely place, lovely staff and lovely food.

The venue was well presented, the staff were very welcoming and a delight to chat with. My husband and I had two exquisite meals; mine was the Duck in a tamarind sauce and my husband had beef in a hot sauce. We could not fault either of them. We were so impressed we are going back tomorrow.

A brilliant place. Deliciousness incarnate. Plus a lovely atmosphere. The manager and staff were all engaged. Start your meal with a cocktail, off menu options also available - loved the Vesper Martini, so well paired with thai. I will return. The wines on offer are also well paired. Beef Massaman and coconut rice - superb.

We’ve been coming to Gauthama for the past few years. As businesses come and go in little Cleobury Mortimer, it is telling that this one is not only still running but absolutely packed whenever we go in. The food is amazing - especially the Gaeng Panang being a personal favourite. The staff are also lovely and so attentive, making you feel so welcome. Big shoutout to Fiston and Mo in particular! Always an amazing meal here, couldn’t recommend these guys enough.

Booked a delivery at 10:30 am for a specified delivery time. Rang after 25 mins past the delivery time and it still had not left the restaurant. Given a poor excuse that other orders had come in. The order was confirmed via e mail 90mins before the delivery was due. Really poor service and poor planning. No priority given to set delivery times. Really poor service
